Work Text:
Jim had always been one for the thrill of danger. The thrill of the chase and getting caught. Maybe that’s why he gravitated towards Spock. Even before they began this new aspect of their relationship. Before they became lovers. The secret rendezvous planned in advance. The brush of skin and lips and fingers as they gave into their desires. However illogical they were.
Jim wanted more. To have Spock pull him closer and lay waste to his mind and body. To slip deeper and deeper into the hidden oasis they created together.
“Captain.” Jim’s badge sounds, Nyota’s voice breaking the silence. Spock pulled away, his face tinged green as he straightened his shirt.
“Kirk here,” Jim replied, his gaze falling away from Spock, “Go ahead.” he knew these moments were fleeting and far between, and interruptions always happened when the two snuck away for a more private meeting.
“I have a message from Admiral Archer. He’s awaiting your mission report.” Her voice crackled as Jim sighed. Always a pleasure dealing with admirals.
“Understood. Tell him it’ll be sent over in the next data dump.” Jim replied, looking over at a panel that was currently displaying the time. Briefly wondering if he could get a few more moments alone with Spock before returning to the bridge.
“Affirmative.” Nyota replied, the sound of her fingers clicking against the console of her station was a strange and cathartic sensation. “Also, Mr. Scott needs to see you in engineering at your earliest availability.” She added. Jim’s eyebrows scrunching together. So much for a few more minutes. If Scotty needed to see him no doubt it would have to be important. The last thing Jim needed was the engineer pinging his location and coming to get him himself.
“Acknowledged. Kirk out.” Jim finished, hitting the comm again to disconnect the transmission, his gaze falling back to Spock. He wanted to say something, anything, honestly. But thankfully Spock spoke instead.
“It is alright, Jim.” He spoke, “Perhaps tonight, if you are able, I could come by and we could play a game of chess.” His words even and Jim couldn’t help but smile at the use of their code word. A code word that Spock had insisted upon originally when they first began their meetings of more than just intellect and companionship and instead of something much more discreet and romantic.
And Jim smiled, “I would very much like that, Spock.” He replied. He wanted to lean forward. To place a parting kiss against Spock’s lips, but instead turned towards the door leading out of their hiding space.
Spock grabbed his hand as he passed by, fingers softly caressing his, stopping Jim in his tracks. “Until then, T'hy'la.” Spock spoke, bringing their joined hands to his lips. Soft kisses brushed against Jim’s hand and with it, every romantic feeling that Spock parted to him.
“Until then, Spock.” Jim replied, watching as Spock withdrew his hand and making the next step to leave. Forcing himself to keep walking lest he turn around like Orpheus and gaze upon his love once more.
