It Was His Choice

Summary:

Zero asks his father a question.

Notes:

I was inspired to write this after I came across a Youtube video of Marco Pierre White explaining that he 'did not make Gordon Ramsay cry'. I could definitely see Seven pulling the same thing.

Also, bonus content because a panicking Zoffy is always fun!

Work Text:

Zero has one particular question that he always wanted to ask his old man. It was one that had bugged him for a long time and today, he was sure he was going to get an answer.

If he wasn’t off-world looking for Belial clones or being where he needed to be with Ultimate Force Zero, then he would usually end up crashing at his old man’s place. Today was that particular day. After going from mission to mission, the garrison decided to give him a break, which, while he was grateful for, made him feel bored too, which is why he ever so rarely takes a day off in the first place.

“Hey, dad.”

Seven hummed in response, currently engrossed in a book he was reading on his datapad.

“Did you ever make Master Leo cry?”

Seven froze, book forgotten as he gave his son a blank look.

Zero was beginning to wonder if he had made a mistake asking his father that question.

Seven sighed, putting the datapad aside. “I did not make Leo cry – he made himself cry,” he stated calmly. “It was his choice to cry.”

The Ultra thought about the answer. “Doesn’t that imply you made him cry?”

Well, he certainly remembered the moment Gen shed those tears vividly in his mind. “No.”

Zero was now sure that his father did indeed make Master Leo cry back when he was younger.

“If we’re going down that route,” Seven said, reaching for the datapad. “Then I can confidently say that Zoffy nii-san made Taro cry.”

“What?” This was all news to Zero as he had never heard such a thing before.

“Yes, now, if you’ll allow me to read,” Seven requested, returning to the datapad.

Five minutes in, his son threw another question at him.

“Did you also try to kill Master Leo with a jeep?”

Seven lowered the datapad in defeat.

11,000 Years Ago

“No, no, please don’t,” Zoffy begged as Taro began weeping before bursting into tears. “I’m so sorry, it was an accident.”

It was just supposed to be a quick walk in the park. He was supposed to take Ace and Taro to the park and allow them to have fun running around.

Instead, all it took to ruin the plan was a broken toy, which was Zoffy’s fault. He was talking to Ace while watching 1000-year-old Taro walk on shaky legs. The boy held his favourite toy in his hand, pleased that he could run around freely. One moment he held the toy and then he dropped it by accident.

Zoffy didn’t realise that he had stepped on said toy until it was too late.

“Zoffy nii-san, what should we do?” Ace asked, trying to calm his brother.

Zoffy had two options, take Ace and a crying Taro home while risk looking as though he had kidnapped the poor children or run to the nearest shop in hopes of purchasing another toy.

“Calm down, Taro, we’ll get you a new toy, ok?” he coaxed, only making the toddler cry louder. People were starting to give him weird looks.

“Hey, kid, is this man bothering you?” a red Ultra asked as he approached the trio.

“No, he’s our nii-san,” Ace explained while Taro continued to shed tears. “My baby brother’s toy broke.”

The red Ultra locked eyes with Zoffy before he eventually left. The Starmarks were the only thing preventing him from being accused of kidnapping the two.

Zoffy’s shoulders sank. “Ace, wait here while I buy Taro a new toy.”

“Hurry.”

Zoffy never flew so fast in his life.
