Work Text:
One night while the moon is at its highest and the sky is at its darkest, a mortal twirls a dagger in his hands, staring, transfixed, at the squirming rabbit tied to the altar. Symbols have been scratched into the surface of the marble and divots have been carved to let the blood of his victims course through like the veins the mortal steals it from.
Before the altar stands a tall statue resembling a goddess of incomprehensible beauty, one that only the most loyal of devotees could understand and it watches the ritual. A ritual just for him.
A divine being that has driven weak men to insanity.
"My goddess tonight I, Ryoumen Sukuna, offer this hare in gratitude for allowing me to live another day to worship you, and in death I will remain by your side."
But Sukuna was no weak man.
Green eyes emerged from the shadows, tracking the back of his most loyal follower. His long, elegant, dark robes flowing with the cold breeze, making it appear as if he's one with the shadows, nothing but a wisp of smoke in the darkness.
He reaches the mortal and whispers in his ear, his lips brushing skin as the only announcement of his presence: "what will you give me tonight, yourself I hope?"
Sukuna turns and is faced with the haunting beauty that enchants his dreams, fair skin hidden by his dark cloak, long lashes embolding his jade eyes, black hair framing his sharp face, red lips set neutrally.
"My-my queen" Sukuna drops the dagger and quickly kneels before the deity.
The ethereal goddess raised a thin black brow before outstretching a hand, guiding the mortal's head to face him properly. He gets a good look at the man, he's handsome, Megumi concludes. Red eyes locked on his own, hair resembling that of corals but the moonlight making it appear the color of sakuras, skin resembling a warm gold that contradicted the time Sukuna spent bathed in the light of the moon. When did he see sunlight? Such a feat cannot be done by a mere man. But his uncertainty was silenced by the markings adorning his body, marks that symbolized his undying devotion to Megumi.
At this, Megumi smirked. "You didn't answer my question."
Sukuna scrambled to stand, "whatever you wish, name it and I will grant it: lamb, boar, wolf, a virgin." He rushed to say.
Megumi scowled, "I grow tired of such offers," the goddess waved off, releasing the rabbit of its binds.
"Did you not like my serpent? It was the largest among them, a king of snakes." He defended, upon realizing his error he slammed his forehead into the marble, how dare he question his goddess "I must repent for such a dissatisfying offer-" a pale hand reached into his hair pulling his head up.
"No, I crave for more,'' Megumi whispered. Wolves howled in the distance but the deity paid it no mind.
Sukuna admired Megumi's beauty while the goddess broke eye contact, and focused on the bleeding cut on his forehead, he leaned forward licking the wound, copper flooding his senses as the skin was repaired leaving a black marking in its stead.
Megumi pulled back showing his faithful worshipper his pink tongue, with an identical black marking, covered in Sukuna's blood. The mortal shivered in arousal. The goddess smirked, he caressed the man's face, black lines rising onto his skin where his fingers traced.
He was forced to stand, the deity was shorter than him but Sukuna did not dare laugh. Megumi’s slender arms could no longer reach Sukuna's face, choosing to wrap around his shoulders, Megumi pressed his cheek against his chest, listening to the rapid thumping and spoke.
"You live for me. You kill for me. But would you die for me?"
Sukuna attempted to pull back but cold arms kept him in place, "would you?" Emerald eyes darkened as his voice deepened with venom, a threat.
Sukuna stared in awe, "of course." He whispered in reverence with no hints of doubt.
"Then prove it," Megumi challenged as he stepped back "show me who you belong to."
Sukuna looked at his hand, noticing the darkening nails, sharpening as they lengthened, he realized what this meant: the deity was giving him the necessities to do what he must.
He directed his own hand to his chest and plunged his arm past skin, muscle and bone to reach his heart, detaching it from vessels and arteries. Ripping his heart out of the hole he created and looking at it, his wrist drenched in his own blood as a deep red tainted his pure white garments.
Extending his arm to the grinning goddess, he presents his heart as his gift, his final sacrifice.
Megumi's dainty hand reached out, brushing against his own before grasping the pumping organ, his smile never fading as he pressed it against his face, cheek squished and covered in blood. "Beautiful. Absolutely beautiful." Megumi cooed.
And Sukuna couldn't agree more as he watched the scene before him, he gave a content smile, happy that his goddess was satisfied. That his dying action will be fulfilling a task presented by his one true god, his queen, goddess of the night, embodiment of the shadows, beholder of the moon and now his heart. Fushiguro Megumi.
His knees buckled and he collapsed face first into the marble, happily allowing himself to be engulfed by darkness as he succumbed to death.
Red eyes blinked open fighting the brightness of the moonlight entering through the windows and casting shadows with the pillars surrounding the temple. His face was squished on a white surface, at first he thought it was the marble, had he fallen asleep? Was it all a dream? Panic coursed through him like a river in a storm; had he failed to follow his goddess' orders? Had Sukuna disappointed his queen?
The gentle humming and fingers carding through his hair startled him from his reverie, he looked down to notice the white surface he rested on was creamy thighs. Brows knitted, he shuffled and looked up, now graced by the divinity of his goddess smiling gently.
"My queen. Why am I- how did- what is-?" Sukuna stumbled to ask the many questions on his mind.
Megumi simply pushed Sukuna's head down on his exposed thighs from the slits of his gown. "Shhh, you are no mere lamb for the slaughter. No other has shown such devotion as you have," he gently brushed the others cheek, bending over to press their lips together.
The dark blue sky bled into pink and orange as it announced the rising sun but Megumi did not move and neither did Sukuna, allowing themselves to be engulfed by the remnants of night.
"I am here now, my king, I have heard your prayers and now here I shall stay."
