Chapter 1: Unfolding the Destiny by Rewriting the Story

Chapter Text

This... This is the story of how I died... and somehow come alive by the gifted angle of the sun. This story is fun with a mix of adventure and mystery. And this is the story about me and the young woman who was once a princess of the light kingdom. And I'll tell you the tale of what really happened to our world...

☀🌙☀

Once upon a time, in a very long time ago, the three elements of the galaxy have shared their spirits from each of the universes and their time was to give their gifted powers to Earth. So, the sunlight and moonlight fell from heaven while the starlight waited above for something beautiful that will happen in the future.

Meanwhile, the world in the sunlight kingdom is a wonderful place. But everyone knows the true magic lies... in the world in the moonlight kingdom, where the moon is gleam through the clouds, the stars sparkle in each new and old, and the people live in the beautiful land of Luna Royaume.

King Lewis ruled the land at night with a fair hand and an open heart. Protecting the Moonstone that fell from heaven. No one could control it except him and his best friend and royal advisor Sir Kevin who brought sweet lullabies to the Moonstone that would make the kingdom live in perfect harmony between humans and different kinds.

No one loved music more than Lewis’ beloved queen, Audrey. She and their four darling princesses Abigail and Leanne and charming princes Nicholas and James filled his life with joy and song that last forever. And that song was once called ‘The Music of the Night’.

When the music started to play, it spread the sweetest harmony across the world. Sometimes, each song was created differently and with unusual powers or great strength can become what the feeling would be within the heart that causes a person to live longer like the Sundrop that heals the sick and injured. There were many theories as to why this happened, many pointing to the gods gifting this music with great powers and with great destinies to coincide.

Some songs that the king and queen of the moonlight kingdom created together shown their people how much they love each other and the night that the gods have given them. It was a magical time when Luna Royaume celebrated their queen’s birthday with the purest joy of song-filled life on Earth. And, of course, that song they played was once called ‘Endless Night Sky’.

But even the brightest nights can be darkened by an unseen tempest. The darkest dragon called Viserion was meant to be dead by King Lewis’ great-grandfather but managed to survive while being in the icy water. Few of the people survived but others were dead and during the chaos, Queen Audrey and Prince James were lost to Luna Royaume.

After the tragic events of their beautiful kingdom, each note of that lovely melody seemed to deepen the king's anguish. And he couldn't bear to hear it any longer. From that moment on, the king's heart stayed dark. And the music was banned from Luna Royaume, which is now known as the Dark Kingdom… forever…

And as for Sir Kevin, fearing death like everyone else, did something like no other. He went to the kingdom where the sun beaming to their land to crop food for winter ahead to find the Sundrop to take one of the petals and create an amulet that made him stay young for thousands of years. That may be, one day, he would bring the Dark Kingdom back to their music again.

And he knew someone like the lost princess would bring back what once was… theirs…

☀🌙☀

In this world after happily ever after

There was a sweet melody that sings to me at night

Through the days that were as bright as the sun

While the nights were filled with a mystery

That somehow reflect from wrong to right

True, they are some that create from the wilderness

While some create for the story that has been written

Through what life that given to us to face them all

The challenges and so much more

And still, the book carries on being written

We’ll unfold those destines that wasn’t meant to be for us

Rewrite them until we find them all

Because those stories that we wrote about what would have happened

While living happily ever after, after all…

‘In my peaceful sleep, he sang to me in the dreams that he came

That voice which calls to me and somehow speaks my real name

And do I dream again?

For now, I find the Phantom of the Luna Royaume is there

Inside my mind’

Chapter Text

One summer morning, in the castle of Corona, there was a beautiful princess that soon to be queen named Rapunzel. She and Eugene have married just a month ago and got back from their honeymoon last week. We all know her story since she was once known as the Lost Princess and the Sundrop Holder, through the challenges of choices of how she can be a better queen as her father and the people wished.

She just got woken up by her chameleon friend Pascal who wanted her to see the sun rises and she couldn’t help but went to her balcony and saw the sweetest sun ray she had ever seen so far in her life. As she let her short brown hair catches the wind and smell that sweet breeze of nature, her bright green eyes gaze at the fluffy creamy clouds above.

What she was wearing today was known as 💜the light purple and pink Misty Morning Roses as it once said ‘light shines through the clouds, onto the roses in the valley, giving a light morning mist’. 💜 She wanted to wear this dress because her 21st birthday was coming up and her parents were planning to have a royal ball to celebrate.

Her life as a princess or a future queen was something that she thought she would be happy about, but it was hard while she tried to keep her smile as bright as the sun. because she was still unsure to wear her crown or even wearing shoes…

She suddenly looked down at her hands and her feet. Was this really her? To have this grand room, luxurious bed, and lots of books that really full to her bookshelf in this shining castle? She has so many questions since the battle of Zhan Tiri and everyone has their happily ever after each as they finally found their destiny? She was supposed to be happy, but why wasn’t she?

☀🌙☀

As she goes to see her husband, she can’t help but noticed that the castle was decorated with gold and royal purple flowers, ribbons, and banners. It seems so beautiful. It felt strangely familiar, even though she’s never seen it before. She felt like she was forgetting how it was since Zhan Tiri destroyed a few of the parts of the castle.

She doesn’t know if it’s because she dreaming all night about her first year as the princess where the black rocks appeared and her long golden hair came back… suddenly feels really dizzy.

Feeling faint, she accidentally steps on her skirt, and stumbles… as she’s about to fall, she squeezes her eyes shut…

“Careful! Pardon me, Sundrop. You must be careful where to your step.” Hector’s arm was around her waist. After making sure she’s recovered her balance, he let go of her and swiftly step away. He stared at her, as though he’s checking her if she’s alright. “Sundrop, as the future Queen of the Light Kingdom, you have to make sure that you must…” he was about to do something when Rapunzel’s hand was raised.

“I know, Hector.” She spoke. “It's just that I’m having a hard time thinking about my birthday and the ball…”

“I don’t know if that would be necessary but being 21 is a big thing and that the royal ball should take place,” Hector replied. “Just remember that your actions represent the royal family.” He stalks off, but she still felt the warmth of his hand on her waist.

Since the battle of Zhan Tiri, Hector has tried to be a very nice person when he’s around her. Even though, he may call her ‘Sundrop’ as he once didn’t believe his older sister Adira was telling the truth about her. Rapunzel can’t help but feel like he was trying to help during all the things that have been happening since her husband Eugene was Captain of the Royal Guards and that he couldn’t spend more time with her than usual.

Today, she must put her thoughts on Hector and go on through the day without everyone noticed the doubt that she’s been having.

Today is the day, the usual morning to a new start

Life after happily ever after should be a perfect story to end

But I can’t help to believe there be more within my heart

This is one and only when you have family and friends

During the day, Rapunzel would visit the library of both the village and the castle. Every book she would read again and again even though she finished all the books except some that were in Germany and Russia. And she may go to do some painting on her walls in her room or her journal.

And still, I'll read a book

Or maybe two or three

I'll add a few new paintings to my gallery

I'll play guitar and knit

And cook and basically

Just wonder when will my new life begin?

She went to her room so she could enjoy her hazelnut parsnip soup for lunch until she noticed the wall above the fireplace was blank all this time. With some deep thoughts, she had an idea. After finished her soup, she grabbed her box of paint and started painting in different shades of dark blue before added bright colors.

Still doing more like puzzles, darts, and baking

Still doing more ballet while singing

Pottery, feed the animals, lantern making

Then I’ll make sure that my journal needs some more sketching

She went through all her sketchbooks that were filled with well-used papers by her paint, ink, and pencils. Few of them were dress designs that were made by the royal tailors while the rest were the places she was dreaming to see them all. She read many books that were filled with adventure outside Corona’s walls. She’s been there but she wanted to go even further than just the Dark Kingdom.

And I'll read those books

If I have time to spare

I'll paint the walls some more

I'm sure there's a room somewhere

And then I'll brush and brush

and brush and brush my hair

Stuck in the same place I've always been

While she was getting bored, she would brush her short brown hair in many styles; 💜Golden Ripples (the sun’s rays add a golden tinge to the surface of the crystal clear lake. A light breeze brushes by, creating a series of golden ripples.), Life of Roses (everything in her dance, from her flying hair to her elegant spins, is telling the story of the fragrant roses) that she meant have that style for her 21st birthday at the royal ball and Windowsill Breeze (she leans out the window to look at the street filled with spring blooms. The gentle breeze plays with the cherry blossoms, while the warm sun kisses her cheeks) 💜.

And I'll keep wondering and wondering

And wondering and wondering

When will my new life begin?

She went to the balcony and watch the clouds go by with some thoughts about her life so far. She spends 18 years in the tower, nearly a year in Corona before one year traveling to the Dark Kingdom to fulfill her destiny and another year of trying to save her best friend Cassandra who took the moonstone after finding the truth about her.

But since the wedding, she felt loved by all the people they believed she would be their queen for the future. But she still gazes at the horizon from the distance of her kingdom, wanted to explore the world more and beyond with or without her family and friends.

Even though everything is fine

I still gazing through the sky

Felt like I’m not ready

To settle here in the sunlight

She turned away from the window and looked at her painting above the fireplace; She painted the wall the same way she painted when she was 17 at the tower, beautiful lanterns lifted towards the sky with Rapunzel, Eugene, and the rest of their family and friends by their side. She thought she would add a crown on her head but she doesn’t feel like because her dreams were on the horizon for the distance in her kingdom, her dreams were full of exploring and never come back.

I should have known that this is it

My happily ever after is right in front of me

She looked at her wedding ring and goes to her reflection in her mirror, then her eyes were on the painting above the fireplace. Was this her life now? Why does she have so many doubts? She went to her fireplace and add more detail for her painting; 5 or 12 fireflies flying around her that creates a glow that looked like her golden hair was back.

But guess I was wrong because my dreams

Of going to the outside world still in my heart

☀🌙☀

Rapunzel leaned on the balcony railing of her tower and stared down at the tiny village before her, watching as the little townspeople went about their days. She sighed, gazing up at the white puffy clouds that turned into odd shapes like a flower, a magic lamp, and a cup with a teapot.

She felt a bit bored, feeling like a regular princess-soon-to-be-queen life was going to be dull. What could she do? Paint another portrait of another flower meadows of her imagination she’d painted 5 times? Go out into the town and have the same lifeless small-talk with a few of the people? Or how about going to ride on Max in the same fields she could traverse blindfolded by now?

Rapunzel shook her and smiled. The future queen needed something new, something to get her mind of boredom. She missed the magic of life she felt when she was so, so close to its ending.

The worst part about all of this was that she had no one to talk to about it… Cassandra was her best friend who would go to on all the exciting things that would last for a while, and with Cassandra gone who does she have now? Eugene? He was a sweetheart as her husband and did anything for her at a moments notice, but despite his past as a daring thief who lived every day as if it were his last, nowadays he seemed adamant about spending his days lazing about and doing nothing and getting another duty despite the fact he’s had two in the past three days as the Captain of the Royal Guards

An hour passed and she found herself sitting on the fountain at the center of town with her chin on her palms. Nothing was new. How can an entire kingdom be boring sometimes? She looking at the sky, what she wouldn’t give for something, anything to...

“Princess Rapunzel! There you are!” Rapunzel turned and see Melody, who had light blonde silky hair and light blue eyes and she was wearing a light pink dress and light brown shoes. “What are you doing at the fountain? You look a bit troubled. Is everything alright?”

Rapunzel gently smiled, “Don’t worry, Mel. I’m just thinking about what I’d do for the kingdom in the future.”

Rapunzel met Melody before the wedding and they somehow became friends so quickly before this blonde cheerful girl shared the same experience of adventure like the princess. While the two girls were talking, Rapunzel saw something. A bunch of purple and pink bouquet sitting next to her and she gently lifted up to her face and smell that beautiful scent.

Melody saw them and smiled, “Looks like a shy boy just leave them for you while you weren’t looking, Raps.” She then goes to see her little sister named Ruby.

Rapunzel blushed while gazing at the flowers, she knows that since she got back from her honeymoon few flowers seem to be a mystery that wherever she goes she would find them next to her. She noticed a note inside the bouquet, she pulled it out and read it.

💜 Genevieve, please don’t be afraid. I don’t want to hurt you. I may be afraid of meeting you face to face, but I will have the courage to see your beautiful face on your birthday at the royal ball.

I’ve been sending you those flowers as a sign of great talent that you brought to the world of the night when you sang that song to heal the sick and injury when you once had your sunlight hair that shines through the dark clouds from above.

Please keep this note in your journal so you could read this again to give you some support when things got you troubled.

From the Angel of the Night 💜

Rapunzel read this note again and again, at first, she was a bit baffled by those words that someone would finally send a note after sending those flowers of her favorite colors but she quickly got charmed. This then suddenly warmed her heart by how this note would be shown a bit of sorrow and forgiveness that blended into a bittersweet of joy… this mystery man had confessed it all like the flower sender or that he might have known her from heaven…

Wait, how did that Angel of the Night know her birth name?

Then she saw something. A shadow duck behind a building and out of sight. Rapunzel wouldn’t have even noticed the movement if she wasn’t so distracted by the note that was placed on her chest, and she could guess that whatever it was that had hidden away, it did not want to be seen or followed. So naturally, Rapunzel jumped up and started running towards the dark alleyway she’d witnessed the suspicious movement, a tantalizing joy spreading through her as she finally had something to do.

Rapunzel ducked and weaved past the bustling crowd who were content to go about their business, and after a moment's notice, she’d skidded to a halt in front of the dingy back alley and ducked behind a pile of barrels close by. She could hear murmuring and slowly poked her head up from her hiding place to get a look at whoever decided to stray away from prying eyes.

The future queen’s eyes took a second to adjust to the new, dark environment. A dark tall man with a cloak that was hard to tell what color with his looks like… a cube shape? This man was just standing there before dropping a red rose on the ground and suddenly disappeared without a trace.

“What was that about?” Rapunzel asked before headed to where the man was standing. She wished she hasn’t. Rapunzel stopped herself as suddenly something was not right as she stood there for the longest few seconds she’d ever experienced. Taking a deep breath, Rapunzel gingerly approached on the spot, slowly lowering her guard as she crept closer and closer with each step until she was practically on top of him. She saw a person lying there and carefully flipped the motionless person over to get a better look at him.

Everything seemed to stop.

Rapunzel stumbled back in shock and disgust as the image of a person’s chest that has one shot where the heart was with blood seemed to make its appeared and the person’s face was so white and the eyes were open into her mind. Branding her vision with the traumatizing image. Her knees buckled and she quickly found herself leaning on the nearby wall to stop herself from collapsing. Her mind had exploded with harrowing thought after harrowing thought.

“Oh, my gosh. Oh, my God. Oh, my goodness.” She mumbled frantically, panic smothering her to the point she felt she couldn’t breathe. What had she just witnessed? The red rose was still there and when she picked it up, she suddenly felt her heartbreaking. This man had a future. And someone killed him.

Rapunzel doubled over as if she’d just been punched in the gut and wrapped her arms tightly around her head. Tears were streaming down her face and at any moment she felt like she would throw up. She did the only thing she could. She screamed. She howled and cried and bellowed as her emotions overwhelmed her.

The world around her seemed to melt away and she soon became numb. At some point, guards arrived to investigate the commotion but she barely noticed. She barely noticed when they investigated the surroundings and found the horrifying scene she’d witnessed. She barely noticed as more guards showed up, some picking up the dead man. She barely noticed being escorted back to the castle and set her down on her bed.

Hours went past in an unrecognizable blur as she sat on her bed, staring off into eternity. All she could think about, all she could see was the image that was burned into the death of who this man was.

All Rapunzel could think about was that this is not her happily ever after, after all.
