Chapter Text

Day 1.

Dear Diary,

I am learning to read and write with Mitile and Rutile. Oz helps me. Cain trys to help me but he is not very good at explaining. Oz is also not good at explaining. Arthur is a little bit beter. I think I will stay with Mitile and Rutile though.

Mitile sayed that practise will help, and gav me this book. He told me that it is called a “Diary”. Mitile and Rutile agre that I am good enouf at writing that I can start practising by writing in this book.

I am suposed to write about things that hapen. Mitile sayed that it is like “homework from school”. But I hav never gon to school.

Riquet

Dear Diary,

Today Nero made strawbery cake. It was very sweet. He gav me extra strawberys.

Riquet

Dear Diary,

Bradley stol sum of my strawberys. I undirstand that contemt is a sin, but I cant help but hop that he will never see thos pearly gates.

Riquet

------

Hi Riquet’s Diary! I’ll write some spelling corrections here for you.

trys -> tries
beter -> better
sayed -> said
practise/practising -> practice/practicing
gav -> gave
agre -> agree
enouf -> enough
suposed -> supposed
hapen -> happen
hav -> have
strawbery/strawberys -> strawberry/strawberries
stol -> stole
sum -> some
undirstand -> understand
contemt -> contempt
cant -> can’t
hop -> hope
thos -> those

“gh” can make a “f” sound

If a word usually ends in “y” like “try” or “strawberry”, then when you write it as an action or a plural you turn the “y” into an “ie” like “tries” or “strawberries”

A lot of words have a secret “e” at the end that doesn’t make a sound! I had trouble with that too when I was learning how to write. There isn’t really an exact way to figure it out, but a lot of times if the word says the vowel name like in “gave” having an “ay” or “hope” having an “oh” sound, then there’s probably an “e” at the end. Not always though, because “have” still has an “e”...

Day 2.

Dear Diary,

Today I showed my writing to Mitile. He marked words that I spelled wrong and then he wrote them the right way. Mitile is kind. He also scoldid Bradley for taking my strawberries. Mitile also said to write at the end of the day, so I do not have to keep making new entrys. And that if I still have more to say, I can write “P.S.” and then do it.

Riquet

P.S. This is how I am supposed to do it.

------

Day 3.

Dear Diary,

Yesterday, I left an appel in the kitchen to eat today and asked Nero to make sure nobody took it. Nero could not stop Mithra. I found out today that there was no appel.

I understand that Mithra was already too far gone to be saved, but with this slite against me, I beleev he has just been pushd one level further down in Hell then the one he was already destind for.

Riquet

P.S. He ate the core too.

------

Day 4.

Dear Diary,

Whil we were learning from Rutile today, I told Mitile about Mithra eating my appel. Rutile herd me, and said he would tell Mithra to stop eating my appels. I hope Rutile’s soul will be saved from burning in the firs.

I think maybe I will showe Mitile my diary every week. So he can help me fix my words.

Riquet

------

Day 5.

Dear Diary,

Mithra said he will stop eating my appels. If he is lying, then I hope he will be sent a level further.

Riquet

P.S. I think I will start hiding my appels.

------

Day 6.

Dear Diary,

I like talking to Nero while he cooks. Sometimes, he lets me try the food while he is cooking. He doesn't let Bradley. I wish Bradley would stop trieing to steal food. Nero also asks me to spell out the names of things in the kitchen. I’m getting better at that. I can write onion.

Riquet

------

Day 7.

Dear Diary,

Mithra found my appels. I am too upset to write anymore right now.

Riquet

P.S. I will tell Mitile and Rutile about this when I showe Mitile my writing.

------

scoldid -> scolded
entrys -> entries
appel -> apple
beleev -> believe
pushd -> pushed
destind -> destined
whil -> while
herd -> heard, but when you talk about a group it’s “herd”. Hearing is “heard”
fir, firs -> fire, fires
showe -> show
trieing -> trying

About day 3: “Then” is for sequences and events, or anything related to time. “Than” is for comparisons! It would be “pushed one level further down in Hell than the one he was already destined for”

Good job, Riquet!

Notes:

This literally started as a joke
