Work Text:

A stray kitten, and an FBI agent? Surely it sounds like a cheap comedy, but Dale couldn't help it when he saw the poor thing on the side of the road near the Bookhouse Boys lodge. Immediately he went to Harry for name suggestions and they both compiled quite the list before leaving it to fate.

And by that, they swung a pendant over it and chose the name it finally stopped on. The name wound up being Lucy and the pair chuckled as they noticed it was in Andy's handwriting. But, it stuck and the little feline remained Lucy. After that the cat followed Dale around everywhere, even when he left her behind at the Great Northern, she still managed to show up during investigations.

It was odd to him, just as the kitten's two different colored eyes were found to be odd with everyone around him. One green and one a piercing blue, a beautiful pairing if one asked him. Which several people did. It was all fine until one night he had a dream. Not any dream, but one of the lodge… One that told him the cat was a key and protector of him, sent by the Giant as assurance he would not be harmed.

This was because of a long string of events that he'd seen in the lodge that could lead to a potential future that turned out to never happen as he escaped rather than being trapped for twenty-five years. That being said, something would still happen and he would be sure to be ready, for now he relaxed as he awoke and grinned at the feline, simply happy for the nearly constant company and someone to talk to, even if he was well aware he would get no understandable response from her.

The Giant continued to appear, and the pair spoke as the agent slept in the regular world. He warned Dale of a doppelganger and told him that he still was loose in the world he saw as home, for when he escaped with Annie and the body of Windom Earle, the body did not remain Earle's for long. This troubled the agent and he kept an eye out, as well as contacting Gordon Cole to warn him of a Blue Rose.

"Be safe, and be one with yourself Dale Cooper." The Giant said, before he once more awakened to the sight of the kitten and the life he would never leave behind for anything. And with a knock at the door, he set off for his day.
