You can be cute and fearsome at the same time

Summary:

Chat is not happy with his new look but Marinette doesn't agree.

Work Text:

"It's always a couple, married, divorced, whatever." Marinette grumbled.

Fighting a single villain was hard enough sometimes, but when they were two it was a nightmare.

Thankfully, she wasn't alone as well. She had Chat and could ask him to help her with what she needed.

She took the Tiger Miraculous out of her yo-yo and handed it to him. He eyed it suspiciously.

"It's not my usual style but it would have to do," he said before turning on his heel and going behind a chimney to change.

When he appeared again a minute later, he was frowning.

"What am I now? A blond tiger?"

It sounded ridiculous but it was true, Marinette realised with a grin. The golden hue of his hair did clash a little with the purple-pink of his suit, but it wasn't a bad look.

The stripes in particular looked spectacular on him. The yellow eyes were a bit disconcerting but the ears nestled in his wild locks were incredibly cute.

"Blond Tiger sounds cool," she declared. "You look cute."

"Thanks? I'm not going for the cute look. I want to be big and fearsome and... "

"Woah, I get it. One doesn't necessarily negate the other. You can be all of them."

He didn't seem satisfied with her assessment but they had no more time for wasting.

They headed to the spouses locked in a fight and she sent Chat to do his part. She looked after him, admiring his fine form. His butt looked too good in the Tiger colours, she decided. Which was not an appropriate thing to be thinking in the middle of battle.

To distract herself, she called on her lucky charm. Which was a towel. She was deep jn thought, trying to think of a good use for it, when she heard shouts.

She saw Chat falling from the bridge he was on straight into the water. She wasn't worried about him but instead went to take care of the akuma, now that he'd done his thing.

When she went back, she found him looking miserable.

"Great, now I'm wet as well."

"A wet kitty," she giggled. Too bad she'd already used her cure and didn't have the towel.

"Cub," he corrected her. "But anyway, all felines don't like water."

He shook the water from his hair, making her shriek when droplets rained over her. Even this didn't improve his mood, so she sat down on the bank and motioned for him to join her.

His ears were drooping and he made a sad face at her but lied down in her lap. She scratched behind his right ear and he instantly perked up.

"My poor kitty. Cub," she cooed.

"You still treat me like a baby," he grumbled.

"Yeah, this helps me to distract myself from how ridiculously hot you look in this suit," she admitted.

His head shot up immediately. Their eyes met and a shiver ran down her spine. She couldn't take it back. And didn't want to.

A beep startled them but they didn't look away. She realised that her fingers were still in his hair. Suddenly she was much closer to him.

Her eyes fell shut just before their lips brushed. It was soft and his lips were cool from the water. But it still made her dizzy.

Another beep and this time they jumped apart.

They didn't say anything, because they knew they had to go.

When he returned the Miraculous to her, he smiled, no longer looking sad.

"It worked better than I expected even if it didn't make me look fearsome."

She agreed. Maybe she had a thing for cats, big and small, after all.
