Quackity have never lost anyone he dearly loved before,
He only remember being 14 and already under Schlatt’s house, who was 25 at that time. He never knew who his parents are, Schlatt would just say,
“Your parents sold you to me!!”
And he would throw an empty alcohol bottle at him if he ask furthermore. The sound of the glass crashing was still fresh in his mind.
When Schlatt died, he didn’t really feel sad. Quackity would always tell himself…
“I’m finally free now”
“He died for the better”
“It’s my turn to be happy”
So he moved on and tried to love again.
In that case, it was Sapnap and Karl who received the love he had. Their relationship was more than perfect.
They rarely fight, they cook for each other, explore places and everything was just the best.
Until he was gone for a few months to build a country for his soon to be husbands.
When he came back, he heard from George, his bestfriend that they created a kingdom without even telling him.
He felt so betrayed and sad that he decided to just focus on building Las Nevadas and leading the people under it. Quackity altered while doing so. He stopped joking around, he ostracized the people who cares for him, he never went out to buy morning coffee at Niki’s bakery and he stopped giving love, except for Charlie of course. Charlie was the light of his darkest times.
A few months went by and he felt way better than before. He no longer cry at night or lock himself away from everyone and he even started to get morning coffees and cake for Charlie at Niki’s bakery every once in a while.
He was on his way to do that when he came across George, the memories came rushing.
”Quackity, we built Kinoko Kingdom and forgot to tell you…”
”What…? George… How!?!”
”I’m Sorry…”
Everything was still clear, the feeling of betrayal, the morbid thoughts in his mind and the anger he felt. He snapped back to reality when George called for him. He didn’t wanna talk to him but his sad and worried face which was unusual for George got Quackity curious.
”George? What’s up?” Quackity still felt bitter.
“Big Q!! Where were you!?!? Why didn’t you visit us?!?!” George said grabbing Q’s shoulder.
”After what you did? You really expect me to visit you guys?” The avian petered out while gently removing the hands on his shoulder.
“I know you don’t want to see us, but please for the love of DreamXD just try and see Karl for the last time”
The last words got Quackity’s vision blurry. It echoed around his head. Hundreds of thoughts came rushing.
“The last time? What do you mean?” He just need an explanation.
”Haven’t you heard? Sapnap saw Karl in a very bad shape in a basement 3 days ago. He’s really weak now, and seeing you would make him feel better before he… d… dies…” George stuttered at that word.
”What the fuck do you mean die?! He’s not dying! Karl is strong. And how come I just learned about it 3 days after?!?! Why do you guys keep on keeping secrets from me?!?!” Quackity didn’t notice his voice rising and getting everyone’s attention.
“Q… calm down, we were gonna tell you bu-“ George’s words got interrupted.
“SO WHAT NOW HUH!?! HISTORY REPEATS ITSELF?!? THAT’S WHAT YOU FUCKING TOLD ME BEFORE!! ‘We were supposed to tell you bla bla bla’ BUT YOU FUCKING DIDN’T AND NOW MY KARL IS LOSING HIS LIFE!! YOU SHOULD’VE TOLD ME RIGHT AFTER WHAT HAPPENED!! I’M STILL HIS GODDAMN FIANCÉ!!!” Tears came running down his face.
Q never want to admit to himself that he still love and care for his fiancés. After months of locking himself in that dark room, he decided to stop giving a fuck.
But here he is, finally letting all out and crying for Karl and himself.
George was speechless and shocked due to the sudden rising in Quackity’s voice. Instead of just standing there watching him cry, he went and gave the avian a warm hug, gently rubbing his wings which was way expanded due the stress he felt. Quackity rested his chin on the other’s shoulder which was very unexpected since George felt bitterness on every word he spitted out.
He needed that hug.
After letting go of the comforting embrace that felt like an eternity, George and Quackity headed to Kinoko Kingdom.
The walk was silent, none of them said a word to each other.
Quackity have so many unanswered questions but he decide to not spit it out.
Albeit George wanted to ask how Quackity was, he figured out that they needed the current silent for themselves.
After a few more minutes, they started walking on a mix of cobblestone, gravel and mycelium path. Until they reached a huge red and white sign.
KINOKO KINGDOM
Quackity looked around the place, there was a big pond in the middle. It was surrounded with big dark oak wood houses. On the left side, there’s a very big mushroom like building, in the middle was a Japanese style house. And on the right side was a huge farm where a familiar figure stood.
Among all the villagers, a man with a bandana stood out. The loose ends of the white fabric danced with the wind.
The place was so quiet until George called out for the blazeborn. The man was shocked to see a companion he have been longing for. He didn’t say a word and just ran to the avian to give him a big hug.
The touch was sudden yet so comforting.
Quackity wanted to hug back, he want to feel his warmth and never let go. But he shouldn’t show that he cared.
He knew that Karl and Sapnap was his weakness.
Sapnap let go of the embrace, cupping the smaller’s cheeks. Quackity wanted to lean to the touch. He wanted to look straight to Sapnap’s teary eyes and kiss him til the pain is gone and the time they wasted was forgotten, but he can’t bring himself to do so.
They exchanged a few words,
“Ducky…? How are you? Where have you been?” Sapnap said holding a sob.
“Sapnap… uh.. yeah, I’m alright. Just uh… went away for the best I guess”
He was lying of course, but telling the truth would make the situation worse. Quackity don’t wanna be emotional in front of Sapnap.
“Holy shit Quackity I missed you so fucking much, I may see you every night on my dreams but seeing you in front of me….. is… just way better” The taller man admitted.
About 2 weeks after Q left, Sapnap started dreaming about him really often until it was every night. Dreams turned to nightmares. Like Quackity getting killed by Technoblade.
“I uh… let’s proceed to the reason why I’m here….” Quackity said bluntly. At this point, he just keeps on telling himself to not be soft, to not fall apart and just start crying to his supposedly ex-fiancé.
Sapnap felt sad because of Q’s response, he did expect Q to be… cold. But he still had expectations for sweet words from him.
“You’re probably here for Karl, I actually just went outside to go get his medicines. Turns out I’ll be coming back with the best surprise” Sapnap smiled bitterly.
“Alright then, I’ll be going. I just went here to lead Big Q….” George interrupted “I’ll be back at night” he added.
Sapnap thanked him and George departed.
“Let’s go see Karl then” Quackity said.
Sapnap nodded, stretching his arm out asking for the other’s hand. Quackity hesitantly did.
The touch reminded him of when they would go to the secret bath tub that Sapnap made for him, cause he’s apparently a duck.
He reminisced about those times he would come home tired, Karl already cooked dinner and Sapnap already prepared the shower for him. Then they would cuddle the rest of the night. If only disasters don’t happen.
They went to the giant mushroom house, the outside was really pretty. A lot of reds and whites. While the interior was way better, it was surrounded with bright lanterns and flowers in a porcelain vase. They went upstairs to a bedroom that has a spruce door.
Sapnap came in first, then Quackity followed. The first thing he noticed was the lavender smell that he knew was Karl’s favorite perfume, next was the warm white chandelier.
On the right side, by the window, was a big bed that can fit three people. And sleeping there was a boy he used to love so much more than anything else.
Karl was indeed in a very bad situation. He got thinner, his lips were chapped but he still look as gorgeous as the day he left.
“Oh uh.. he’s napping.. he’s probably gonna wake up in a bit. He knows when to take his medicines so…” Sapnap said while arranging the potions on the table.
Quackity sat down the chair beside the bed.
“Big Q… you’re gonna come back alright?”
“Of course mi amore, we will get married once I come back”
“I love you so so much”
The last conversation they had echoed in his mind. Karl’s sweet voice. Quackity took Karl’s hand, kissing his knuckles. How he wish he’s not too late to come back.
“Mind explaining to me what happened Sapnap?”
“Remember when Karl told us that his memory was getting worse?”
“Yeah. Clearly”
“Turns out he have been going to this place called in-between or whatever that is, that made his memory worse every time. Sometimes he would be gone for only hours then days then eventually, he was gone for 2 weeks, I got really worried that he also left me. I looked for him everywhere, until 3 days ago, I saw him in the library’s secret basement. He just woke up yesterday, he didn’t know where he were or who I am, so I have to explain his whole life to him. And I’m guessing…. He forgot to tell you about Kinoko Kingdom…..”
“Then you could’ve been the one to tell me”
“I thought you hated me, us. I thought you were mad so I decided to give you space and just wait for you to come back. But you never did, so I thought you already left us”
“All those sleepless nights!? It was a misunderstanding?!? But you could’ve still asked me! You could’ve tried and reconcile!”
“I tried to look for you, I asked everyone if they saw you. Do you think I want to lose you?! Quackity you’re my other part!”
“BUT I DIDN’T FEEL LIKE IT!! YOU CHANG—“
Before finishing his sentence, Karl woke up and squeezed Q’s hand. He then sat up to pull the avian for a hug. Sapnap immediately reacted and helped on supporting Karl’s back.
“Quackity…. You’re here… you came back…” said in a very weak voice.
“Yeah I… hope I’m not too late” Quackity couldn’t stop his tears from flowing, he rubbed the other’s back. Oh this feeling… his sweet boy is back in his arms.
“Q I’m sorry…. I’m sorry I forgot to tell you, my memory worsen day by day until one time I even forgot about you so I always keep your photo with me. I’m sorry I know it’s my fault and I.. I didn’t… I didn’t want this to happen… everything just confused me and I.. I…”
“Hey.. hey.. it’s alright, calm down, everything’s good darling. At least you remembered me.”
“Of course.I guess… since it’s my last times… I got all my memory back”
When Karl was napping, he saw his past self in his dreams. He reminded him of everything he’ve been through, and of course his fiancés.
They talked for hours until the sun sets, and Karl already fell asleep. The three had dinner together, and while Sapnap was washing the dishes, Quackity came up to him to say his goodbyes but instead Sapnap told him to spend the night there,
“I have to shower though, I’m gonna come back tomorrow morning.” Quackity said while arranging the clean dishes.
“You can shower here, your clothes are in the big closet in our room” Sapnap replied, not looking away from the sink.
“You guys still have my clothes?”
“Yes of course, why would we throw it away?”
Quackity then went upstairs to shower.
They slept together all cuddled up, Sapnap on the left, Karl on the middle and Quackity on the right side.
Big Q woke up first, preparing breakfast for the two. He really missed cooking. In Las Nevadas, when he wake up, foods are already on the table.
He made mushroom soup, baked bread and cooked steak.
Sapnap came downstairs and helped Quackity carry the food up to their room. When they got there, Karl was already awake looking around the room. Quackity thought that he lost his memories again and went up to him.
“Hey Karl, good morning babe. Do you remember me?” Quackity’s voice sounds worried.
“Of course silly, I was looking for the two of you” Karl answered giggling
Sapnap noticed the change on Karl’s voice, it was way less energetic than yesterday. He knew right then that Karl is about to go. Sapnap placed the food tray on the bedside table and sat down the wooden chair, while Quackity was sitting on the bed.
“Who cooked this? You don’t know how to cook steak Sapnap” Karl jokingly said
“Oh, Ducky cooked them”
“Yeah I just missed cooking”
“Cooking for us?” Sapnap asked
“No just generally cooking”
But the two knew deep inside that Quackity would never cook for anyone except them.
After breakfast, no one left Karl’s side.
“Remember when we danced under the rain? But you two got sick and I have to take care of you guys for like 5 days” (K)
“And now it’s our turn to take care of you” (S)
“Oh come on Sapnap don’t make this emotional, we’re tryna have fun here” (Q)
“It’s easy taking care of Quackity, but you Sapnap made my back sore! Bad is really strict when you’re sick, he even wrote a whole book of “how to take care of Sappy Nappy”” (K)
“Stop dude, that’s so cringe” (S)
“That was sweet tho” (Q)
“Quackity I’m happy that you’re here, It made me feel way better” (K)
“I thought we’re not gonna be emotional here?” (Q)
“But I wanna show my appreciation. I’m sorry again” (K)
“Karl it’s alright I already forgot about it, all that’s in my mind now is spending time with you, and Sapnap of course” (Q)
“I thought you’re still mad at me” (S)
“A little bit I guess” (Q)
“You guys are the best thing that every happened to me” (K)
“I love you too, Karl” (Q)
“I’m gonna take a nap, I kinda feel… tired. When I wake up, please take me to the flower field” (K)
“Why the flower field?” (S)
“That’s where you proposed to us” (K)
“Of course mi amore. Go take a nap." (Q)
"We're gonna go and prepare lunch" (S)
"No, please stay, I want you to hold me. When I wake up I must feel your hands on mine, please?" (K)
"we promise" (Q)
Karl never woke up. But they kept their promise, all the way until the end.
Quackity went back to Las Nevadas after 2 days.
He went to his office and store his ring in a black leather box.
“My heart will always call for the two of you”
