Work Text:
Kel woke up with a yawn and stretched. It was 7:38 in the morning on a Sunday. Meaning Kel and Sunny had no school or work! Sweet!! Kel turned to his side to see his adorable boyfriend still sleeping. He snuggled in closer to him before giving him a quick peck on his forehead.
"Hey, Sunshine. It's time to wake up," he started, "We're going out today, remember?" Kel whispered softly into his ear, as to not startle him awake.
Kel gave Sunny another kiss, this time on his cheek. This time, waking him up. Sunny groaned. He was never much of a morning person despite his name. Ironic, huh?
"Mmm… five more minutes." Sunny said as he wrapped his arms around Kel, nuzzling his face into the taller boy's chest.
Kel chuckled, "You know that if I let you do that you're not gonna get up at all." He said.
Sunny sighed as he brought his arms back to his side and sat up. His hair was an absolute rat's nest. Kel's wasn't much better, though. He couldn't help but giggle as he stared at the boy's messy hair. He thought it looked cute.
Sunny yawned and stretched before cracking his fingers, a habit he has always had since he was young. "Alright, alright..." he sighed as he got up and out of bed. Kel did the same.
"Want me to make breakfast? Hero sent me a new recipe for me to try yesterday for pancakes. I was hoping I could try it this morning?" Kel told Sunny.
The raven haired boy simply nodded in reply before going to the bathroom. "I'm gonna go get ready and what not. I'll be right out." Sunny stated.
Kel nodded his head before going over to give him a quick peck on the lips. Sunny smiled as Kel pulled away and began walking out of their bedroom and towards the kitchen.
Once in the kitchen, Kel began pulling out ingredients. He placed them all on the counter and took out his phone to begin reading the directions.
-
About a good 10 minutes later, he was done making the pancakes. Just then, Sunny went into the kitchen. His hair was damp from his usual morning shower he took to wake himself up more before the day started.
"You're just in time, I finished the pancakes. I hope you like em!" Kel grinned as he made Sunny a plate.
"Thank you, Kel. They look delicious." Sunny places a kiss on Kel's jaw before going to the table and sitting down.
Kel got his own plate and syrup and sat down next to Sunny before absolutely drowning his food in syrup… gross…
Sunny, on the other hand, ate his pancakes with absolutely no syrup at all. How boring.
The two ate in a comfortable silence. Soon, they were finished with their food, and both got up. This time, Kel went to the bathroom to take care of himself while Sunny went to their bedroom to get himself dressed.
It was only 5 minutes until Kel was done since he does everything while he's in the shower. He brushed his hair and teeth before getting out and doing the rest of his usual needs and what not. Soon, he was out of the bathroom and was walking back towards Sunny and his room to get dressed, and grab something important.
-
Sunny waited patiently out in the living room. Today he decided he would wear some plain black ripped jeans and a graphic tee with his favorite band on it (Yes, it is MCR), as well as his usual eyepatch- it was simple to say the least. It was white with a sunflower printed on it. Basil made it for him a while ago as a gift before he and Kel moved into their apartment together.
Kel came out into the living wearing a red tank top and some black shorts. Nothing too out of the ordinary for him.
"You look nice today- eh, who am I kidding? You look nice everyday!" Kel smiled brightly at his cheesy pick-up line.
Sunny snorted and giggled, "Thank you, Kel. You look nice as well." He said as he got up.
"Well, ya ready, Sunshine? I have a whoooole bunch of stuff planned for today!" Kel said in excitement. Sunny simply nodded, "Great! Now let's go!" Kel led Sunny outside of the building and to their car.
Kel got in the driver's seat and Sunny got into the passenger's side, "So where are we going?" Sunny asked curiously.
"You'll see!" Kel smiled as he started the car. Soon enough, they were on their way to Kel's surprise for Sunny.
-
"Hey, we're almost there. I want you to close your eye." Kel said with a smile.
Sunny raised an eyebrow but did so anyway, covering his eye so that he wouldn't ruin the surprise for himself. Soon enough the car stopped and Kel spoke again.
"Ok, you can open em up, now!" He said.
Sunny opened his eye and looked out the window. He gasped, "An arcade?" He said in excitement.
"Yeah! I know how much you've been dying to go, so I thought that it was a nice idea!" He grinned.
Sunny hopped in his seat as he unbuckled himself as fast as possible before opening the cat door, slamming it shut and speed walking towards the building.
Kel giggled as he hopped out next, locking the doors of the car first before running to catch up with Sunny.
-
Soon enough, they were inside the building. Sunny's eyes sparkled in excitement as he gazed at all the different games. Kel hurriedly paid for their wristbands and put them on himself and Sunny so that they could begin playing. Kel smiled as he watched Sunny immediately walk towards the closest game- "Tetris". How fun!
Kel decided that he'd go look at some of the games himself. Today was gonna be so much fun..! Although, he couldn't help but feel a bit nervous about what he had planned later on, he better not dwell on it. Today they're supposed to have fun!
Kel made his way over to a random arcade machine- "Pac-Man". Sounds fun!
-
The two boys walked out hand-in-hand. Sunny held a giant stuffed cat in his opposite arm that he had won himself while Kel dribbled a cool looking basketball that Sunny had won for him.
"Thanks again for winning me the prize, Sunbun- I would have won something for you but…" he chuckled as he trailed off.
Sunny only laughed, "It's alright. I had fun." He smiled.
Kel smiled back as they got into the car. It was a bit late now- they had spent a lot of time at the arcade... Perfect!
"So, are we going back home then?" Sunny questioned as he got back into the passenger's seat.
"We're not going home just yet," Kel said with a bit of a smirk.
"Oh? Where are we going?" Sunny asked curiously with a tilt of his head.
"That's for me to know and for you to find ooout~!" Kel said in a sing-song voice.
Sunny sighed. As he shook his head before buckling himself, "Alright, let's see what you have planned."
-
It was a good 20 minutes until they arrived. They seemed to be at a big hill. Sunny raised an eyebrow. There were no houses nearby, so it was a basically vacant area other than the gas station that was a little bit up the road, as well as many trees.
"You aren't planning to kill me, now are you?" Sunny chuckled at his own rather… dark joke.
"What? No, no! It's actually the complete opposite of that!" Kel chuckled with him a bit nervously- keep it together, Kel!
"Alright, whatever you say." He said as he got out and shut the cat door, Kel doing the same.
"Follow me." Said Kel simply as he began marching up the hill. Sunny followed him, lagging behind a bit since he wasn't exactly the best at things that involved a lot of movement.
2 minutes later, they reached the top. Kel checked his pocket to see if what had grabbed this morning was still on him.
Sunny looked below them from the hill. It was a theme park-! The rides were covered in many sparkling and glowing lights, all blinking on and off to create the illusion that they were moving. Bright reds, yellows, blues, and purples shone brightly in the dark of the night. It was just perfect.
"Wow." Was all Sunny could say. He turned to Kel, "It's beautiful," he grinned happily.
"You know what else is beautiful?" Kel smirked knowingly.
"You." Sunny stated matter-of-factly.
"Hey! That's what I was supposed to say!" He laughed as he put on a fake pout.
Sunny laughed with him, "Well it's true…" he looked away from Kel.
Even now, in the dark of the night, Sunny's blush was still just as visible. Kel smiled as he placed a chaste kiss on Sunny's lips, taking Sunny's hands in his. He looked down at their hands. He could see just enough because of the theme park's lights. The way Sunny's hands fit in his- they seemed perfect. Like two puzzle pieces being fitted together.
All of a sudden, there was a loud bang in the sky, making Sunny and Kel jump in surprise. They looked over, and there they saw- a bright, beautiful firework. Sunny gasped for what seemed like the 50th time that day.
Soon, even more of them filled the sky, brightening up everything around them. It was like magic.
Kel and Sunny looked back towards each other. Sunny's hands around Kel's neck and Kel's arms around Sunny's waist.
"You look so pretty…" Kel smiled as he brought Sunny's face closer to his.
"You look prettier…" Sunny almost mumbled, but just loud enough for Kel to hear.
Kel pulled away. It's time. Kel thought to himself.
"Sunny…" Kel got on one knee. Sunny's eyes widened as he stepped back- no. This isn't happening.
"We've been together for… what, 5 years now?" Kel laughed, "It feels like it was only yesterday since we first met when we were kids…" he continued. Sunny only stared in shock.
"Sunny. I love you so much. Words can't even describe how much I do… I'd truly do anything for you, just to see you happy. You really are the light of my life." Kel grinned as he pulled out his gift.
Sunny raised his hands to his mouth as tears formed in his eyes.
"That's why, on this very night, I have to ask-"
Kel opened the small, delicate, black box. Inside was a precious gem, held by a silver ring, carefully made to fit just right on none other than Sunny's ring finger.
Sunny broke down, falling to his nears as he sobbed. Kel quickly closed the box, putting it back in his pocket as he enveloped Sunny in the tightest hug he could possibly muster.
"Oh my God… o- oh my god… this isn't happening- this isn't fucking happening, Kelsey… this is a dream, right? It has to be!" Sunny wailed.
"No no no no… Sunshine… oh my god Sunny… it's not a dream… this is real. This is reality." Kel laughed as tears threatened to spill from his own eyes.
The two of them sat there, Sunny's hands still covering his face while Kel held him against his chest. Both cried tears of joy.
After a while, Sunny's sobbing died down. The fireworks were still going off. Sunny looked up and grinned the biggest grin Kel has ever seen on him, "Yes!! Yes yes yes!!! Oh my gosh, Kelsey!! Yes!!!" Sunny finally hugged him back as he began sobbing again.
Kel grinned back, crying as well as they both laughed, crying and sniffling. They hugged each other as tightly as they could. Kel brought Sunny's face up to his and stared for a while.
Just then, they both leaned in, kissing each other like there was no tomorrow. Fireworks went off between them both literally and figuratively.
After a while, they stopped to breath. Sunny sniffles as he scooches back a bit, and holds out his hand for Kel. Kel quickly took the ring back out and brought it out of the case, sliding it onto his hand as delicately as possible, almost as if Sunny was a fragile porcelain doll that would break at any moment given.
They both began laughing and crying again- holding each other close.
"Sunny-"
"Kelsey-"
The two of them gazed at each other lovingly.
"I love you, Sunny."
"I love you more, Kelsey."
