Sometimes she wondered what she did wrong in her life for this to be her reality. One might ask what was bothering Mika so much, the answer she'd give you would be a simple "Terushima Yuuji", no explanation, no context. Well, okay, maybe a little bit of context, she could probably go on a whole rant about this, it was a surprise she didn't have a powerpoint presentation explaining exactly what her problem was at that point.
It all started on a random day of August (not so random, she'd forever remember august 22nd now), the day Yuuji made that huge, stupid mistake. It was just a simple three messages, "yo suguru majes me", "suguru makes my", and "i'm gay", which in her opinion, was valid as fuck. The messages were quite clearly not meant for her (which he has reminded her of when she told him she was irreplaceable as part of the plot, she has found a new excuse though, because she's the only one moving the plot forward, so she's clearly very important), considering they started off in Spanish before going to English and leaving her confused. She eventually learned who Suguru was, he was Yuuji's best friend (or as she called him, his not-boyfriend yet). Over the next few days, he was mentioned here and there, and seeing her friend gay panic over him was hilarious, although it was now a mixture of that and uncontrollable annoyance along with possible rage.
She wasn't sure how many different ways one could deny any feelings for their friend, but Yuuji certainly was a top contender in the guinnessbook of records for "denial of feelings", because clearly, the homies are just cute sometimes, nothing gay about it. Either way, she shipped them. A lot. At that point, her shipping them became a joke of sorts, it was very serious (and consensual) shipping, but either way, they all treated it as a joke. She didn't know much about Suguru, most of her knowledge coming from either her friend being very, very gay for his friend, or because of screenshots he sent of their conversations, but the one thing she knew for sure was that he was oddly excited about Terushou (yes, she gave them a ship name, because we all know it suddenly becomes much more serious if it has a ship name), he encouraged the possibility of her writing fanfiction about them (sign number two of a ship being serious), she found it highly suspicious, regardless of how much her dumbass of a friend keeps trying to convince himself that it's not.
If you asked her, becoming friends with Yuuji most certainly was a lapse in judgement, which we all know isn't true, but hey, she could pretend to hate him at least a little bit for being the root to half her problems, she was single-handedly carrying the whole plot of the slow burn mutual pining fanfic they were apparently in now, and there has never been a single thank you from him, she constantly feels like her efforts are not properly appreciated (they aren't, but she'll keep on going, she's too invested to stop).
She wasn't sure how two friends who were very much not dating (yet) could be so adorable and domestic, the two planned on living together in Vancouver and adopting a bunch of animals with their non-existent money, it was cute, even cuter if they were actually together (call her desperate if you want, she just wants them to become canon). Along the list of "main incidents'' that would surely be mentioned if they had a page on the shipping wiki, would include the fact that Yuuji reached the character limit on his message while writing about his friend's personality. She had asked for a simple explanation for fanfic writing purposes, not a whole ass novel, at least it was cute. What wasn't cute, however, was the fact that he had a playlist for Suguru, a playlist he never finished and never bothered mentioning, that was very not cute on his part, and she will forever remind him of this everyday until he finishes the playlist, even if he were to die, she'd probably haunt his grave until it became a reality. It's funny that the conversation went from that to her finally realizing that whenever he wanted to do something, it was probably because of his not-boyfriend.
At that point a lot of her thoughts ended up with Terushou, trying to find ideas of what she could write that would fit their personalities and imagining how she could add herself into said stories, excuses to add her point of view to them, mentally screaming about how they should be together already, because they really should, and everyone she told about them agreed. How in the fuck could they be so stupid, she'd never know, even if she literally wrote something along the lines of "hey suguru when u're reading this, if u like yuuji please for the love of all that is holy and pure confess at some point, i'm begging you here, i'm the only thing moving the plot forward and y'all need 2 pull ur own fucking weight around here so please if u like him confess at some point, it doesn't have to be now or soon but do it eventually if u like him, if you don't then just ignore this", but knowing their idiocy, it probably wouldn't work either.
She sighs as she goes once again through the mentally exhausting task of scrolling through their messages in the past day to collect more "terushou evidence" as she calls it, because screenshotting everytime your friend mentions his crush and compilling it into a google drive called "terushou evidence (these bitches gay, good for them)" is completely normal human behaviour, obviously. As much as she wishes there wasn't so much to screenshot, she still very much enjoys having all of this compiled for not only herself, but all her other friends, who are equally invested in this slowburn (she and one of her friends even have a cult- she means association! they created the "terushou association", dedicated to... talking about terushou, it’s... kind of in the name but yeah, Yuuji pointed out to her that it does sound a tad cultish, but she has chosen to ignore that comment and continue on with her slightly cult-like activities).
In her mind, as she scrolls up and up endlessly (does it never end? damn, how can he feature in so many of their conversations), she thinks of all the things she's done for the two dumbasses, like looking for like at least an hour and a half for the messages where Suguru was first mentioned because he was curious (he was, in fact, slightly worried over her excitement to find it, but in her defense, she took way too long to find it so finding it was like finding water after almost dying of dehydration in the middle of the desert. Okay, that was kind of exaggerating, but she was still fucking excited to find it after so long looking for it and you really can't blame her for it), she constantly reminds Yuuji to work on his Suguru themed playlist (he really doesn't appreciate that one, in fact, he hates that she mentions it at least once per day) and she single-handedly carries the plot forward, on her little legs ‘cause she was kinda short, she was carrying the entire fic and they really needed to pull their own weight, like its tiring as all fuck and she's not getting paid for this. she should. Please give her a raise, she deserves it.
Well, she needed to be positive. She could at least try to do so, she might be going slightly crazy over them, but at least they find it to be funny, so hurray for optimism... or something like that. She finally got to the part in their conversation she was looking for and started screenshotting it once more. She goes on autopilot at that point and thinks of... well she'd say she thinks of other stuff but she still thinks about terushou because that is completely normal behaviour as we all are aware at this point.
While taking the screenshots she found once again her magnum opus, regardless of how much fanfiction she wrote, nothing would surpass the magnificent letter she wrote to her friend. The letter was extremely formal, as a form of trying to get through to him how much what she wrote was necessary (and possibly mandatory), it stated that she and many of her friends were extremely invested in their love life and wanted him to "place his face over Suguru's in a loving manner, also known as a 'kiss'", even if they lived very far away from one another. It also contained the alternative of a confession written in a similar manner to her example of "I am madly in love with you, please date me" or just a regular confession that ended in both of them dating (or married), the possibilities provided by accepting her business proposition were many, including the possibility of a fanfic written based off of their story (a partnership was available and recommended for that theoretical fanfiction), a boyfriend and less 'slander' from the "terushou community", her proposition got neither rejected nor accepted, but at least he sent it to his friend and she was now his favorite person apparently, so it wasn't completely useless, although apparently she was actually his “second favorite person” as Yuuji so rudely pointed out when she mentioned it in conversation (“WRONG he said you were his second favorite because I'm first.”)
She finished screenshotting all the most recent evidence and started cropping it all so most of the parallel conversation wouldn't be visible, we can't have the people reading it distracted by those conversations. She texted him a bit more while doing so, also thinking about what she could write of them, because as all normal person in this not so beautiful world, she wants to write fanfiction about them, she has absolutely no idea what she'll write, but she can't just give up on it now, especially not with Suguru's (very suspicious) endorsement. Mika is fully convinced he likes Yuuji, she just can't prove it, how her friend can be so fucking blind to this truth baffles her, there's no way his actions are completely platonic, especially if you consider one of the stories he's told her, because apparently, Suguru had a crush on him at some point, and sure, it might have been about 2 or 3 years ago, but that doesn't mean he stopped liking the other... probably. She hopes he still likes Yuuji ‘cause damn if her ship doesn't end up together she'll probably cry internally at least a little, and she doesn't even cry regularly, like please she's begging to all the gods she doesn't believe in for them to be a thing, who cares about being selfless with her theoretical three wishes? Her three wishes to the stupid genie are for them to get together because she's allowed to be selfish sometimes. Did that confession go anywhere? No, because they're dumb as shit, she's still pissed off about that one, like why couldn't they be like her and her girlfriend? Why couldn't they sort shit out and end up dating like they did? Another sigh leaves her as she finally finishes cropping all of them and uploading it to the google drive of evidence.
Honestly, she might kind of hate Yuuji's stupidity and Suguru's... ignorance? Maybe? Well, whatever it is, she's still happy she can be a part of their little love story, even if it never ends up as something more, it's nice to know she contributed to that, and, who knows? Maybe he'll write a story based off of it and she'll get to write for it because her addition to this story is absolutely mandatory, and who better to write her than herself? She's definitely being sappy about this, but hey, at least someone will appreciate it, won't they?
