Work Text:

Tomura brought me coffee this morning. He’s not an unaffectionate person, but it still surprised me. He made it just how I liked it - perfect temperature and everything - and when I poked fun, saying “how much did you have to pay Kurogiri?” he shrugged awkwardly and said he’d made it himself. Maybe that’s why it surprised me.

Now we’re sitting on his bed together. His arm is wrapped around my shoulders, and I’m sipping my coffee slowly. It’s really good, and almost as an afterthought I lean up and kiss the tail end of the scar cutting through his lips.

“Thank you,” I say. “This is amazing.” Tomura blushes and ruffles my hair a little. His artist gloves are scratchy in the most wonderfully familiar way and I smile.

“What are you planning to do today?” I ask, taking another sip. Tomura thinks for a moment before squeezing me a little tighter.

“Absolutely nothing,” he says.

“So what I’m hearing is we should cuddle all day?” I grin, drinking the last bit of my coffee and putting the mug on the side table. Tomura smiles and tries to hide it.

I straddle his lap and take his face in my hands. His eyes are so pretty. His skin is dry and cracked, and I gently run my thumb over his cheek.

“Do I ever tell you how beautiful you are?” I ask. Tomura blushes.

“Yeah,” he grunts.

“Mmm,” I say. “Must be true then.”

Tomura leans down and kisses me gently. His lips scratch mine, but I couldn’t care less. I kiss him back, touching his face gently with my right hand. Tomura tilts his head and the kiss becomes slightly deeper. I pull away just a tiny bit, just enough that I can speak.

“I love you,” I say. “So much.” His eyes sparkle.

“I love you too,” he says, before kissing me again.

He’s so gentle. Every move he makes is careful and calculated, like he’s afraid of hurting me. I thread my fingers through his hair and stroke. It’s soft, and I work my fingers through tangles as Tomura leans back from the kiss and turns his head subtly towards me. I smile.

“Does it feel good?” I ask.

“Mmm,” he breathes.

I stay on his lap, untangling his hair with my fingers, while Tomura closes his eyes and leans his head on my shoulder.

“Spoiled,” I say, not meaning it at all as I kiss the back of his head.

“I made you coffee,” he offers as a weak counter.

“That you did,” I say, playing along. “Maybe I’m the spoiled one.”

“Spoiled rotten,” Tomura murmurs. His hands come up to rest on my hips.

“I love you,” I whisper, still dragging my finger through his hair and kissing his ear. Suddenly I take his hand, still encased in an artist’s glove, and kiss the back of it.

“I love this hand,” I say, stroking the back of it with my thumb. “I love your hands. I love being held by them, I love holding them, I love them.”

Tomura doesn’t say anything, head still buried in my shoulder, but I hear him sniff quietly. I let go of his hand with a parting kiss and cup the back of his head. I lean my chin into his hair.

We sit like that for a while, not saying anything. I start humming quietly after a bit, and I can feel Tomura smile into my shoulder. I stroke the back of his head.

“I want to be your rest,” I say suddenly.

“Hm?”

“I want you to come to me when you’re tired, or when you’re frustrated, or when you feel hopeless - cuz I know you do sometimes - and I want to help you rest.” I explain this as Tomura sits up and looks at me. “I know you work hard, and I know you don’t have much good in your life. You need to rest more often.”

“You’re suspiciously nice to me,” Tomura says.

“I have so many ulterior motives,” I joke, pecking his nose. “Like wanting you to feel good about yourself and getting you to sleep more than you do.”

“What’s wrong with how much I sleep?”

I resist the urge to laugh. “Tomura, you sleep maybe 4 hours whenever you feel like it, that’s not really healthy.”

“Why do you want me to be healthy?” he asks quietly, almost as if it was supposed to be just a thought. My eyes widen.

“Because I want you to live a long life with as much happiness as you can get,” I say, resting my hand on his cheek.

“I know I’m not easy,” Tomura counters. “I know I get in moods and I push you away and you’re just…you’re just always waiting for me no matter what. What could possibly motivate you to stay with me when I’m like this?”

I kiss him as gently and sweetly as I can.

“I love you,” I say. “So much. I love everything about you. That’s all that motivates me. I want to see you succeed. I want to see you get what you want. I want you to be loved. For real. That’s it.”

Tomura doesn’t say anything. He just stares at my face. I stare at him back, and after a second I smile warmly.

“So pretty,” I murmur, and with his face in full view I can clearly see him blush.

“You may become distant sometimes, you might lash out at me, but you can’t drive me away,” I say. “I’m here for the long haul.”

“What exactly attracted you to me in the first place,” Tomura smiled. “Was it my shitty personality?”

“If I were to pinpoint just one thing,” I say, pondering. “It was the pain. You were in so much pain and no one around you seemed to notice or care.”

“You cared,” Tomura sighs. He gestures for me to get off his lap and lay on the bed, and when I do he lays next to me and rests his head on my chest. I start to play with his hair again.

“I cared,” I parrot. “And you’re still in pain. But look at how far you’ve come. Three years ago I don’t think this situation would have even crossed your mind.”

“Oh so you noticed my inability to feel love back then, hm?” Tomura says, and it’s hard to tell if he’s teasing or not.

“I did,” I say simply.

“Did you love me back then?”

“I didn’t love you for the first few months that we knew each other,” I reply honestly. “I fell in love fast but it still felt slow.”

I keep on stroking Tomura’s hair slowly. His breath becomes more even, and soon I’m falling asleep too.
