How the Mighty Fall

Work Text:

It is late and the only light on this foggy night is coming from street lamps and a few apartment windows. The cemetery is silent when a small group of dogs creep in from the forest. It is a group that consists mostly of pitbulls and there is only one dog that seems nervous about the eerie cemetery.
“Who’s this mysterious dog that can lead me home,” asked a cane corso near the front of the group.
“She calls herself Oblivion. Don’t worry though she is a good leader Hercules,” said a white heavily scarred pitbull leading the group.
“Okay Cielo. Why does she want us to meet her though,” questioned Hercules.
“We do not question her decisions and you will see the true wonder of this place soon enough,” Cielo replied, annoyed at his question.
Just as Cielo finished saying that a gray and white pitbull suddenly appeared. The dog was unlike any Hercules had ever seen. So much so Hercules could only assume that she was a ghost. Her face and eyes were completely gone with just her skull showing and two glowing embers in her eye’s place. As he looked around he realized that the whole cemetery had disappeared and in its place was a large room with no ceiling so the stars and moon could light up the place.
The room had almost everything a dog could want. There were several large pools of water in the room and large piles of pillows and blankets to sleep in. Yet as he looked around he noticed the one thing that was missing. There was no food in the whole place. Also despite looking like an extremely comfortable place Hercules couldn’t shake the feeling that something was terribly wrong with the place.
“Excuse me ma’am I was wondering if you could get me home safely. I will be willing to give you whatever you want in exchange. Please, my family needs me and I don’t want to go back to the pound again,” said Hercules nervously.
“This is your home now Hercules. Here you will have everything you could ever want. We are the only family you need,” answered Oblivion in a soft voice that seemed to come from everywhere.
“No, my family needs me. I will not abandon them,” Hercules barked.
“That may be true but you may be able to protect your family but your family will not be able to protect you. Stay with me and you will be protected. The pitbull ban will never reach you here,” Oblivion said in the same soft voice she had been using.
“My family is going to move soon. I will be safe but you need to listen to me. My family needs me. So I will be leaving now since you obviously don’t care,” Hercules said, done with her nonsense.
“There is only one way to leave this pack. Once you come to me you stay with me. Cielo you know what to do,” Oblivion said, suddenly raising her voice.
Just as soon as she said that, Celio, who had been sitting by Hercules the whole time, bit Hercules’s neck and knocked him over on his back. Then Celio used his claws to slash through Hercules’s belly spilling his guts all over the floor. Hercules in complete shock did nothing to defend himself.
