Billie Joe listened to the calm way his doctor spoke, and in conjunction with the kindness that had returned to his gaze, replacing the excitement and amusement that had been there previously, he remembered why he had chosen Dr. Carmichael to be his doctor all those years ago. The explanation settled on him like a weighted blanket, and it left him with little room for argument, because how could he argue with biology? Shoulders slumping, Billie released a quick sigh, and the corners of his mouth even began to tilt upwards. “I guess… I’m having a baby, then.”
