Arc 1: Alone
Chapter 1
As the city is still covered in darkness, lights still off, people begin to wake,
Yet Izuku does not. Instead he looks at his ceiling, thinking and worrying.
His mother hasn't even visited even a night in the past 3 weeks.
And Izuku ran out of food 2 days ago.
Mom usually comes back at least twice a week, sleeping, if not getting new clothes and drop a few groceries that would usually last 2 weeks (Izuku ignored the fact that others would only be able to get by a day or two)
So where was she?
As he stared, the grainy mute tan popcorn ceiling began to twirl and spin.
Perhaps she has already came, and he was just asleep?
He looks at the clock that shows the bright 4:08, sighing, he stood up,
And then fell right down, he's vision goes black and his knees weak.
He pushes himself up and uses the wall as a guide to the living room.
After a moment he regained his vision and began looking around for any movements in the apartment, any changes.
Yet the boring stale colors and beige furniture meets his eyes.
The kitchen was empty, and no pictures were up, even the one of his mother on her first day of work.
(Izuku ignored the fact they she never covered it up or took it down unless she was moving houses)
He couldn't find any difference in the apartment.
Giving up, he turned to go back laying down, before something caught his attention.
He looked at his mother's bedroom door, lack of a certain note with her handwriting, "DO NOT ENTER" he stared back at the door.
She had always had it up, she never let him enter.
Izuku fast walked to the door, hesitating to knock,
"Mom?"
His voice was cracked and raspy for lack of use, yet he tried to speak up,
"Mom?"
.
.
.
No answer,
So he tried knocking,
Yet she never responded.
So Izuku sighed and went back into his room.
His room lacked style, a few posters of All Might that he had kept throughout his childhood, his twin bed with sheets themed with Pro-Heroes from when he was little, too.
He turned on the light and looked at his desk, covered in burnt paperwork. The smell barely noticeable anymore, yet memories still fresh in his mind.
The burnt fleshy smell, fire, loud booms and sparks.
Izuku put his hand over his shoulder, bandages and numbing agents cover the said shoulder, he pinched himself there and let himself feel the wash of pain.
He ignored his mind and sat down at his desk, for he had to work on homework. He can't slack off now if he wanted to at least be considered for UA.
He may just have 1 year left of elementary, yet he only has 4 years till high school.
So he got to work, ignoring the sense of dread, because there's nothing to dread, right?
____________
Izuku ran in between the cracks and crannies of the city, never once hesitating or looking back, just running.
After awhile, he hid behind a dumpster, slumping down with his back against the wall.
He was just so tired.
He was slowly falling asleep to the sounds of sirens and car honks going off.
He just wanted food.
______________
Izuku paces the floor of his bedroom.
The taxes were on his desk, an inch tall.
Mom still hasn't come home yet, even if she hadn't, she'd still pay the bills, it's her apartment after all.
Did something happen?
He searched on every news channel and browsed through news feeds, looked for any letters or texts from his mother,
Yet nothing came out of it.
It's like she vanished...
Perhaps she needed to stay at the hospital for several weeks? Or went on a business trip?
Izuku thought about their last encounter with each other, but Izuku only remembers tiny hellos and goodbyes.
The only big conversation was awhile ago-
That conversation
_____________________
"ALL I ASK IS THAT YOU KEEP YOUR GRADES UP, AND THIS IS WHAT YOU DO?"
Izuku sat in the chair, letting her anger and disappointment wash over him as he zones out, letting him un-focus about what's around him and focus on the colors that kept radiating off of his mother.
Inko's face turns into disgust, "Y'KNOW I GAVE LIFE TO YOU, BUT I CAN SURE AS HELL TAKE IT BACK-" her voice cracks and her face softens into sadness, "Oh kami- what did I ever do to deserve you?"
Izuku ended up not eating dinner that night. Or the night after that.
________________
Izuku remembered that conversation ( fight)
Like it was yesterday. He remembered how it drew longer and longer every word.
His mother said she hated him.
But that's not true, right? Of course Izuku can be useless, easy to cry, a mess, and worthless, but she doesn't truly hate him, right?
'She's said it before,' a traitorous voice said,
'But it was just her being upset, she always apologized a week later, right?'
But she never apologized this time.
In fact she began to ignore him and leave with no goodbyes.
And suddenly all of those little moments seemed to connect,
The little contact, the zero talking, less dinner, less food overall-
Izuku rushed to his mom's door, knocking once and then twice,
And then he opened the door.
The room was barren, all except the bed frame and the nightstand.
All of it, gone.
Izuku stumbled in the room- searching for any sign that his mother was still here, and it was all a prank to get him to understand to be a good kid.
An obedient kid.
And the he saw the note.
It was just a sticky note with Izuku's name on it, on an envelope.
So he quickly opened it, waiting to see 'gotcha!! Now be a good kid and listen to mommy'
But it was a very different note.
Very different.
And just like the deku he was, couldn't help himself from crying.

Izuku woke up with dried snot and tears running down his face,
The clock read 3:05
He looked around the room and then the note.
"Oh- right, I'm alone now." He said numbly.
