Lily was just happy that she didn't end up paired with James for their first assignment in Care for Magical Creatures. Instead Professor Kettleburn, in an effort to strengthen interhouse-relations, partners her up with Evan Rosier.

Eddie knew that there was something up with Buck, he could always tell when something was wrong with his best friend, because even after only a year Eddie was certain he knew Buck better than he knew himself. And there was definitely something off about the other man.
He tried to keep a close eye on him, always glancing over at him when he wasn’t stuck to his hip, wanting to make sure he was okay. After everything he’d been through, Buck had to be okay.
At some point Buck had begun coughing, little closed mouthed coughs, like he was trying to hide them, but of course Eddie noticed, so he upped his surveillance.
And then the cough got worse, and worse, and worse, until Buck was staggering back and then collapsed to the floor.
