Jamil’s brow scrunched as a gentle feeling against his forehead stirred him from his sleep.
There was a soft giggle that filled his ears first. Then the feeling of warm lips against his cheek.
“Jamil,” Your quiet, familiar voice reached his ears, gently pulling him out of the sleep that engulfed him.
A kiss to his nose.
“Ja~mil,” You sang his name. He smiled in response.
Your fingers thread through his hair, combing through the soft strands as you brushed them from his face. He leaned into the touch.
Dark, stormy eyes peeked open and stared up at you. His smile grew, revealing the tips of his fangs as he did.
When had you slipped out of his arms? He was such a little sleeper, your slightest moment should have woken him.
As he contemplated with his thoughts, sleepy still swirled in his eyes, his expression unguarded and so open to you, you watched with joy.
This was an adorable sight to you. Your boyfriend, still groggy from sleep, calm and relaxed into your touch, with a blissful smile. You had almost decided against waking him but it was worth it and this was not even the reason you had done it.
“Happy birthday, Jamil,” Your voice was soft as you leaned over him.
Jamil blinked up at you, your words slowly processing in his mind.
It was his birthday already? He had been so busy he had hardly thought about it yet you looked eagerly down at him, a wide smile on your lips, as you uttered your message of celebration to him.
“..Did you wake me just to say that?”
“Yes! I wanted to be the first one to tell you.”
He had never thought his birthday important, not terribly. His family would celebrate with him, Najma would bake the cookies he liked, and if he was fortunate he would avoid any of Kalim’s extravagant attempts at throwing a party. Not to say any of it was ever bad, it was the one day the attention was all on him, yet this was different.
Jamil’s heart swelled in his chest, his smile and gaze softened lovingly towards you.
It was such a little thing but it meant more than he could describe. It was clear you had been waiting ever so eagerly for the moment but impatient enough that you could not wait a moment longer.
“Thank you.” The gratitude was genuine, something that made your heart sing by the softness of his tone.
“Don’t thank me yet, I haven’t given you your gifts or even started the day!”
Jamil cocked a brow playfully, “You planned the whole day?”
“Yup!” You chirped back, “ I’m starting with telling you happy birthday as many times as I can before anyone else.”
He chuckled softly.
“And this too.”
You leaned down to him, lips brushing against his own. He lifted his head, pressing his against your sweetly, savoring the warmth and softness of your lips before you pulled away. Too soon for his liking really.
You giggled again. “Don’t pout, we have all day,” You quipped as you lied down beside him.
He wrapped his arms around you, pulling you against his chest. A content sigh fell from his lips as the warmth of your being filled his. He pressed his nose into your hair, inhaling your scent. The soft smell of your shampoo and the complimenting hints of your soap brought his heart a calming comfort.
He could stay like this forever, where nothing nor any person is able to steal you away or demand his attention. No distractions, no chaos, no stress. Just you and him in his bed, allowing your hearts to intertwine and beat in time with each other.
You wrapped your arms around him. Your fingers delicately danced over his ribs, tracing the curves of the muscles that defined and sculpted his back until you could tender tap down his spine.
He shivered in response to the delicate touch.
You snickered again, relentingly your ghostly soft touches as you began to comb your fingers through his loose hair.
You could nearly feel Jamil roll his eyes as he held you closer, tracing idle shapes into your back.
You allowed your body to relax against his, molding to his lithe figure as you embraced each other closely, feeding off one another’s warmth, lulled by the strong beat of each heart that called out to the other.
“Happy birthday,” You whispered into his chest.
He smiled against your forehead, placing a delicate kiss there.
“..When we get up I’m making you breakfast.” You broke the silence with your hushed voice again.
Jamil pulled back enough to look down at you with a smirk. “Oh?”
You nodded. “So go back to sleep, so morning can come, and I can spoil you all day.”
He chuckled softly, the sound made your heart flutter in your chest.
“I would like that.”
You lifted your head, stretching your back to close the distance between you as you pressed your lips against his. The contact was brief, fleeting but even as you pulled away you felt breathless and dizzy, completely surrounded by him. He flooded your senses with his own, there was room for nothing and no one else, only him.
You nestled your body closer to his, trying to leave no room between you. He did not mind, holding you even close against his body.
“Happy birthday, Jamil.”
