Work Text:

The night was hot and by the lack of wind none of the trees down the street were moving. It was in the middle of the summer and although it was already dark it was too hot. The hot weather was so suffocating inside the house that not even the air conditioners were able to cool the space or maybe everything was in her head. She was too nervous to stay still for more than 10 minutes so she decided that a nice glass of wine while chilling on the balcony was the best choice at the moment.

She liked to look at the streets and the sky at night because she was sure she would see her favorite superhero flying around, trying her best to save everybody she could, but tonight was different. Supergirl took a night off and Lena could only think about how much she missed her.

- Is everything fine? – A voice sounded behind her; bringing her back to the reality. Sam was leaning against the door just watching her best friend who was lost in her own inner thoughts.

- What? – Said Lena taking off her attention from the streets and back to reality. – I wasn’t paying attention, sorry Sam.

- I asked if you were fine because you haven been lost in your thoughts for about fifteen minutes now. Which it was very creepy because you were not even blinking. - Sam took a seat next to Lena and handed her another glass of wine. – So, are you alright?

- I am fine, Sam. – Lena paused to take a sip on her wine, and she took another look at the street before answering. – It’s just…

- You are missing Kara.

Lena didn’t need to finish the sentence because Sam already had her suspicious on why her friend seemed so off during the whole night since she got home from work, more precisely from CatCo.

- Is it too odd that I miss her this terribly already? We’ve been apart for just a couple of hours and part of me is almost dying to call her.

- Although it’s super strange to see you acting like this… - Sam started with a teasing smile on her face. – I totally get it. It’s hard to be away from the person you live with and specially when everything you guys do is spend all your time together.

- You’re probably right.

- Honey, I am always right.

Sam knew this feeling very well. She’s been in the same position as Lena is today, more precisely seven months ago when Alex and she got married in a small ceremony in Midvale. She knows how difficult it is to be away from your significant other, in fact, it’s quite a torture to be away from Alex because she’s looking after her sister now, just like she’s making sure Lena doesn’t go running to her fiancée.

- It’s just for one night, Lena. – Sam said hugging – a very emotional – Lena. – After tomorrow you guys won’t be apart anymore, which is no news because you already life together.

Lena smiled then.

A big and fat sunny smile between her tears. Just like the smiles that Kara would give to the ones she loved the most.

---

According to Alex, Kara is the strongest super of the family and no one would dare to disagree with that, but even though she has all these powers nothing could calm her down.

The only thing that seems to help is the sound far away from Lena’s own heartbeat. She could listen to them clearly and by the beats of it she could also tell that Lena is by now sleeping. Safe and sound.

Kara on the other hand…

- Kara. – Alex called her sister attention. It was three a.m. already. – I know you are nervous and anxious, but could you stop? You are flouting and haven’t even realized yet. Could you please try to sleep?

- I can’t, Alex. – Answered Kara sitting on. Yeah, it was true that she was flouting and didn’t even realized. – I am getting married in less than a day.

- And that is precisely the reason I need you to sleep, because I’ll only sleep if you sleep and I know you don’t need many hours of sleep, but I do.

- I will try.

Kara answered looking through the window of Alex apartment. It was hot, but at the same time it was nice and now she’s missing Lena even more because she misses the warm from her fiancée’s body. She then focused her super hearing on Lena’s heartbeat again, and only then she let the sleep come.

- Good night, Lee. – Said the blonde in a whisper.

- She can’t hear you, Kara. – Alex said grumpy.

- Shut up, Alex.

---

Kara could smell Lena’s perfume miles away. She knew the exact time that the brunette left the penthouse and now she knew she was here. Just a few more steps from her. Lena was walking down the aisle holding hands with J’onn.

The day was just perfect. The sky was blue just like her own eyes and Lena was even more beautiful that she could ever have imagined, but no words could describe her other woman’s beauty.

There was something different in Lena’s eyes and Kara couldn’t tell if it was the love she knew Lena had for her or anything else. Her eyes were tearing and so were Lena’s.

Lena never really believed in fairytales before, but now she was looking at Kara and she was just like a princess. Her perfect princess coming straight from a book where all the good dream came from. But the difference was: this is not a dream, this is reality. This is their happy ending, or better saying a new chapter of their story.

- You look beautiful. – Kara said as soon as Lena got by her side on the altar.

- Perhaps. – Said Lena with a shy smile on her face. – But not as beautiful as you are, my darling.

Kara wasn’t supposed to do that - and if she was being honest with herself, she didn’t care that much – but she kissed the corner of Lena’s lips. They were too kissable for her own good and she couldn’t resist the other woman’s red lipstick.

- I love you so much, Lee.

- I love you, too, darling.

- Stop being so cheesy with each other. – Said Alex who was in front of them.

Alex was known for being a badass woman who rarely would get emotional but when her little sister told her she was getting married all she could do smile and cry. She cried even more when the couple asked her if she could be the one to marry them.

- Shall we begin? – Alex asked with a teary smile.

The ceremony started and Alex spent a lot of time talking about love and everything that the online course told her to do it. She made everybody laugh and cry with her words and she even got an angry look from Lena itself when she shared a lab experience they had in the past, but after almost forty-five minutes of talking the most important part of the wedding was about to being.

- Kara, would you like to say your vows first? – Alex asked knowing how much her sister wanted to say her vows. She’s been practicing them for about a month now.

- Lee… a lot of thing in life are difficult, even love itself is hard. Love is very hard and being loved is even harder. – Kara smiled. – But loving you was never difficult or hard. Loving you is like breathing. Loving you is easy because when I’m with you I can be just me. I can be just Kara. No last names or powers. I just need you and you just need me. I love you, Lee.

Kara could talk more if she wanted but at the moment, she knew that all Lena needed to hear has been already said.

- My love… you saw me in the middle of this enormous crowd where people would only see my last name and you took that advantage of it. And since the first time you looked at me you had stolen my breath. You love me in a way that no one has ever dared before and I hope that I can still wake up everyday and see this same love in your eyes. You are my sun, my sky and my stars.

- You’re my favorite couple. – Said Winn higher than expected causing a wave of laugh around the altar.

- Thanks, Winn. – Said Lena smiling between her own tears of joy.

---

During the whole preparation of the wedding Kara and Lena would always fight over the cake. Kara wanted a chocolate cake with frosty chocolate on it, but Lena knew better than that and she wanted a classic wedding cake, so the only solution for that was a deal she made with her – now – wife. Kara’s favorite food should be served during the wedding party non-stop, so logically Kara was always seen with a plate on her hands, but of course she was next to Lena all the time.

- I have a surprise for you, darling. – Lena whispered on her wife’s ear.

Before Kara was able to answer, a person wearing red clothes and a symbol of the house of El was in front of her. Her mother was there. Her biological mother.

- Lena…

- Eliza helped me with the portal. – Answered Lena raising her glass to Eliza, who raised her glass back to Lena.

- Mom! – Kara almost flew to her mother’s arms. – I can’t believe! You were here the whole time?

- Yes, my daughter. – Said the older woman, smiling and hugging her daughter one more time. – I am so happy for you.

- Thanks, mom.

- I can’t believe my little girl is married now. – Said Alura between tears. – And you are married to a scientist, that’s wonderful. Your father and I always knew you were going to follow our steps.

- I am barely a scientist now. – Declared Lena – I spend all my time supervising my people on their labs.

- That might change, Lena. – Alura took a flash drive from her pocket and handed over to Lena. – You are going to spend a good amount of time on the lab from now on.

- What is it, mom?

- It’s a present for you and Lena, darling. – Alura looked between Lena and Kara before talking again. – Back in Krypton everybody had the right to have their own family and that’s what I want for you too.

- Mom…

- Alura…

- I hope you can make good use of our technology.

---

It was New Years’ Eve when Lena decided to tell Kara the news. They decided to spend the date in a place close to the beach, so they could enjoy the fireworks shining in the sky. It was a new year and the perfect time to give Kara the news that would change their lives.

Lena could feel Kara’s soft hands on her waist. They were hugging each other, and Lena was resting her head on her wife’s shoulder.

- I am pregnant. – Said Lena.

- What? – Kara asked, without believing her own ears.

-Next year will be celebrating this date with a new member in our family. – Said Lena and Kara’s actions didn’t surprise her. She hugged her wife a little be more and kissed her forehead.

-Really? – Kara’s voice was so soft and calm and when Lena looked at her wife all she could see was love.

- Really.

- How far are you? Can we know the sex of the baby? When is the baby going to arrive? Lee, we are having a baby! Can you imagine that? A mini you or a mini me.

- Breath, my love. – Lena smiled and kissed her wife’s cheek.

- I’m sorry, but we are talking about our baby here. We are having a baby, Lee.

- Yes, darling. – Lena got Kara hand and put it on top of very small belly. – Our baby is here.

- Our baby. – Kara repeated, still smiling. – Half you and half me.

Now that Kara knew Lena was pregnant, she could feel the fast heartbeat of their child. She smiled even more, and Lena knew the reason why.

- How far are you?

- Twelve weeks.

- Three months, Lee? You have been hiding this from me for three months? – Kara faked an angry face, so fake that Lena knew her wife was just kidding. – That’s why you haven’t been drinking wine?

- That’s right.

Lena put her hand on top of Kara’s and kissed her wife once more. This was definitely the best way to start a new year.

---

When summer was about to begin, by the end of June, their waiting was over and they welcome their daughter to the world.

Lynn Danvers Luthor was born with dark blond hair, and Lena didn’t know a baby could be born with so much hair on their heads. Her eyes were almost as blue as the sky, but Lena could tell Lynn had her little nose. She looked just like herself when she was little. Kara was extremely happy that their daughter was the split image of her wife.

- She’s so tiny, Lee. – Said Kara, she was sitting by her side on the bed. She wanted to be as close as she could from her favorite girls.

- I was a tidy baby too. – Answered Lena, without taking her eyes away from the baby in her arms. – I’m not so tall without my heels.

- She is beautiful, Lena. – Said Kara, softly stroking her daughter’s hair. – Do you think her eyes will keep this blue?

- Why are you asking that, my love?

- Because I was hoping she would have your eyes as well. – Kara said, kissing her wife’s head.

- Well. – Lena kissed Lynn’s head softly, not to wake her up, but causing the little baby to sleep in her sleep. – I’m hoping she keep your eyes.

- Our girl is so perfect Lena. – Kara also kissed the top of Lynn’s head. – Do you think she will have powers?

- I honestly don’t know, darling. – Lena answered looking at her wife’s eyes. – She might have, but I don’t think they’ll be as strong as yours, or maybe they will. Maybe she won’t have powers at all, and maybe she will just have a better immune system. She has both of our DNAs. She’s half you and half me.

-It doesn’t matter if she has powers or not. – Kara looked at Lynn again, holding her little hand. – She is our little miracle.
