    Summary

There is something quite funny about vampires. See, vampires mate for life, those bloodthirsty beasts, as though they were Antarctic penguins and not a loose cannon. (There is something quite funny about humans-- they think anything that is not them is a threat, a loose cannon.)

There is something even funnier about the fates that formed soulmates. The fates didn’t care for propriety or politics or social acceptance. The fates bonded, took a part of you, aching and gaping, when a soulmate was rejected.

There is something a bit funny, a bit sad, about the current political situation. As much as one may fight against the notion of “loose cannons” as a title for vampires, there was corruption. There had been corruption long before the War, and there was still corruption now, after the War. Regulations were in place for Donator/Donatee relations, but no enforcers cared-- they were paid if they enforced, they were paid better if they didn’t.

Perhaps, the corruption wasn’t even a bit funny and far more than a bit sad. But, the story need not stay so sad.
