[prologue] A thousand years post Darkstalker
The sand that had reflected the sun's blaze, dried up what little water, that was left in the pool. Seven dragons, all having scales different shades of yellow, lied in the mud. Some groaning, some staring hopelessly at it. One of the seven got up, stamped his foot on the ground, "no, we force mom to leave." He said. "We can't stay here."
" we can't do that to her. " the youngest sibling spoke. Her eyes looked like oynx's, and they shown brightly against her pale yellow scales. "Yeah, well what else are we supposed to do, die?" The other asked, he had more golden scales than anyone else in the group. "We can't survive on our own without her."
Grouse coughed," we are already the ones taking care of her, she's been sick all season. " he had freckles splattered across his face, and wings, and almost always had his talons covered in mud
Well, I suppose we can try to get a doctor out here." The youngest, Giraffe said. Wriggling her talon together. Another spoke up this time, he had yellow scales, and had two stumps of spikes on his cheekbones. "No, that'll take to long, we have to leave her, she probably won't even notice."
Giraffe gasped, "how could you–" The golden one interrupted, "the only time she'll notice is when she wakes up barfing and one of us isn't here to clean it up."
" That's what I'm saying, we should all just take our chances elsewhere. " the other spat on to the ground. He flicked his tongue, seeing if all were in agreement. They weren't. "Giraffe, there's no water, you'll die trying to save mom."
"I'm going to stay here, I don't care what I have to do, and mom isn't going to die!" Giraffe let a tear fall down her face. Her jaw quivered, and her face fell in defeat. The dragon with the two cheekbone stumps, Hades hissed. "Fine, just know, we aren't coming back to save you."Giraffe stamped her back feet, "fine, you don't have to!" " pack your bags, we're getting out of here. " Hades spoke, glaring at Giraffe.
Days after the six dragonets walked into a town, it was set up like a giant tent, and dragons sold water amongst other things. The dragons there seemed to be confused by the parentless dragonets that were wandering around, but their worries were elsewhere.
A dragon roared, it felt like lightning struck the ground next to Hades. But soon he could make out what the dragon was yelling, "come one come all, to the fight of the century." Dragons pushed by the dragonets, "today we have a very special dragon, hopefully he doesn't read our minds, ok, alright, and up against our little night wing here, is an ice wing." Hades ears perked up, a night wing? Those are real? He rushed forward, crawling under people's legs, stopping right before getting to rusted bars. The night wing had full on black scales, minus the lighter gray underbelly, and the whole galaxy under his wings. Little was definitely an understatement for he was almost twice the size of his mom.
Hades looked to the right, seeing an ice wing this far south was like finding a needle in a hay stack. It's eyes were bright pink, and lips were chapped. He saw chains keeping both dragons from using their breath.
The fight didn't last long, with the night wing breaking the ice wing's neck. But not without any damages from the spikes that got stuck in the night wing's abdomen.
Hades wanted to always feel like that, he wanted to see that all the time, every day in fact. It didn't have to be night wings, or ice wings, it could simply just be two sand wings fighting each other, or two other animals, he didn't care. He wanted an arena.
