Work Text:
Barba glanced at the courtroom, tears filling his eyes. Next to his side, was his best friend and the woman he was in love with. Olivia Margaret Benson. He turned to look at her.
"You know, when we first started working together, what was it, five years ago?" He asked her, turning his head to look at her. "Six." Benson corrected him. Time was never slow with Benson. If he had the ability,he would stop the time, just so they were for longer parthers.
He couldn't face her directly. Not after what he was about to confess.
He took a deep breath. He had to tell her.
"The world was an old movie. It was all black and white and it was high noon. I was Gary Cooper." He stopped for a moment,he looked at her. He sighed and continued
"I was absolutely sure absolutely who were the good guys, who were the bad guys." His voice broke in a watery tone. "And then you...you started to weasel your way into my world, and the black and white became different shades of gray." He noticed, the way her lips parted. He knew her. "Don't say it." He said, giving a watery smile. "Before I knew it, there were blues and greens and yellows and reds." His eyes locked with hers.
I'm you now, Liv. You opened my heart. and I thank you for it."
"And...?" Benson asked. She knew what he was saying, but she wanted to hear it from him.
Barba looked at her. He would never get another chance. He couldn't let her go. "...and I love you." He told her, placing a sweet kiss in her forehead. His hand touched her cheek. "Liv,will you marry me?" He asked. All the hope and fear were in his tone.
Olivia chuckled, placing a soft kiss against his mouth. "You do know that people date first before marriage, right?" She said in a jokey tone. Rafael chuckled. "Oh,I would happily take you for a date. Then we'll get married?" He asked with humour, yet seriousness were obvious in his tone.
"Rafael,I was joking. Weren't we practically married for six years? It's time we made it official."
Rafael and Olivia, shared a passionate kiss. The screen fades to black
