Summary
But this. There’s not a single person at the agency, not even Judith herself, who would believe that delivering a home-cooked meal is a reasonable and necessary part of maintaining a cover. No. That’s something you do because you care about someone.

Summary
Debbie blinks for a moment, making sure she heard right, then slowly turns to face Judith. "Did you just come out to me?"
"Oh," Judith chuckles, light and breezy, like she'd forgotten to mention that she likes olives, or something equally inconsequential. "I suppose I did. It's not new," she adds, probably in response to Debbie's bewilderment. "It's only that 'there aren't any men worth my time' wouldn't have worked any more, if you knew women were an option." Debbie looks back at the woman on the fountain, tries to picture Judith flirting with her, kissing her. The idea scratches against her brain, nails on a chalkboard.

Summary
They finally have the talk. The one where they sit down and Judith answers all of Debbie's questions. No lies, no omissions, just truth. It is hard and painful, but it is good; and Debbie doesn't leave. Through all of it, she sits and listens. Decades of atrocities, of horrible acts come spilling from Judith's lips in that little bubble of warmth hidden behind her wardrobe, and then they are done, nearly.
