Work Text:

Atsumu is loud.

It's not a secret well kept. He's loud and he's crass and he's vibrant and he's noisy.

When he's angry he yells and screams and has a bad habit of biting out words he doesn't mean and insults too harsh to be true.

But Kiyoomi…Kiyoomi is quiet.

He's black curls falling softly against pale skin the way snow falls gently down. He's two carefully dotted moles that sit proudly against nothingness like the signature on art.

If you're not standing next to him theres a chance you'll miss him speak this is, of course, if he ever does.

His words are carefully chosen, examined, and placed. He never says what he doesn't mean. He never wastes his breath on lies.

No one thinks they'll last when Atsumu first comes bounding into the gym one day with that light in his eyes five months after youth training camp, bubbling overtly with joy as he announces that he and Sakusa Kiyoomi - or as he calls him "Omi" - are dating.

Because there's no possible way that the quiet well mannered boy from Tokyo could ever be well matched with the loud shamelessly heavy accented Miya Twin from Hyogo.

But that's their first mistake.

Because where the world sees Atsumu as loud, Kiyoomi knows he is quiet.

Kiyoomi knows his quiet consideration. Hears his low whispers. Sees his soft smiles. Feels his gentle hands.

He's quiet in the way of the morning sun. How it reaches its way around the world, slowly encompassing everything it sees. Cloaking it in its warmth.

It reaches and reaches and once it's done everything is brighter and warmer. The shadows fall away and there is finally light. And sometimes you don't even realize that you too had been a victim of it's warmth.

And Kiyoomi thinks, that if one saw the sun rise for the very first time they may not understand it. They may be puzzled by the way that it crawls it's away across each surface. How it takes it's time to reach every crevice and nook and space between. They'd probably wonder why something that is so powerful and bright takes it's time to do it's work.

But Kiyoomi, he's seen the sun rise and the sun set more times than he can count.

And Atsumu, he knows, is like the sun.

And if Atsumu is the sun, he knows that he is the moon.

Rotating around aimlessly. Only ever truly visible when he is in direct junction with his sun.

But Atsumu would disagree.

For he thinks that Kiyoomi is visible even in the darkest of places. He knows his comfort. He knows the way he is drawn to him like a moth to a flame. Knows it is the moon that the sun is constantly reaching for.

For where Sakusa is quiet he is so much louder in other ways.

His dark eyes are thunderous as they cut across the space between them to give a glare of warning that he only half means.

His kisses are fireworks. His long skilled fingers write symphonies over Atsumus skin starting off soft and ending in a crescendo that Atsumu will play over and over in his head until they see eachother again.

Kiyoomi is loud in the way of snappy retorts and cunning remarks. Loud in his scoffs and his teasing. Loud in the way that he invades Atsumu's mind and takes over his thoughts.

He is so loud. So very loud. But only to the ones who use their eyes to listen.

And when they're together it's a dance. Of loud voices and quiet touches. Of louder glances and quieter words.

And hey who knows, maybe that quiet well mannered boy from Tokyo was the perfect match for that loud accented Hyogo Twin after all.

Because when the world finally sees them together they're made cognizant of the push and pull that is so amazingly natural yet so difficult to understand.

They see the dance in fire and they see the recession in ice.

They see the sun and the moon and all of their stars and they know that the two of them are in a world that they themselves cannot quite reach.

And they know.

That even when the two of them seem to be saying nothing at all, they're really speaking volumes.
