Summary
“Merry Christmas!” Eddie exclaims excitedly.
Deep breath in, deep breath out.
“Why the everloving fuck,” Steve hisses, “are you telling me Merry Christmas at one in the morning a week before Christmas?”
Eddie actually has the audacity to look sheepish - something Steve doesn’t see very often - pulling his hair across his face with a shy laugh. Steve’s grip on the door handle loosens a little bit.
“Well, it’s almost Christmas, isn’t it?” Eddie smiles, a strange tenseness in his voice. “I’m here to spread some holiday cheer.” He holds up and shakes a small metal flask.
“It is one in the morning, Munson,” Steve repeats flatly. “If you’re going to spread holiday cheer or whatever, do it at a time when normal people are awake.”

Summary
It was really just his luck that a hulking monster lumbered out of the woods and directly onto his driveway. Just his luck that he threw enough parties when his parents were gone that the neighbors had long tuned out any noise that came from his yard. Just a nice cherry on top of the fucking cake that, even if anyone did hear him screaming when claws tangled in his jacket and pulled, Steve honestly wasn’t sure they’d have cared enough to bother anyway.
OR:
Months before El ripped open the gate at Hawkins Lab, the Demogorgon started ripping tears of its own. Months before it found Will Byers, it found Steve Harrington.

"Go on, Munson," Steve says, and he can't help smiling until his lip hurts, because he's starting to think that he didn't get this wrong after all. "Ask me out."
"Really?" The amusement slips into something that feels more frantic. "You're going to rush me on this?"
"It's technically tomorrow already." Steve can feel them both hovering on the edge of something, and for once he doesn't think he's afraid of the drop. "No time like the present, right?"
"You look fit to drop right now." Eddie looks a little wild while he says it, like he doesn't really want to.
"That means you're effectively seeing me at my worst, so it's all up from here."
"How are you assuming that was a comment on– do you have any idea how annoyingly attractive you still are? I can't believe you're trying to convince me, I feel like I'm dying."
"Ask me." Steve decides to push his bravery a touch further and drops his hand to where Eddie's still rests on the bed.

Summary
Steve won’t ever be kept and cared for in the way he craves. He won’t ever be held like he’s something small and precious and breakable. He won’t ever be treated softly by virtue of his designation.
He won’t ever have kids in the way that he so desperately wants to.
He won’t ever be an omega.
And if he stays a beta, he can’t be Eddie’s true mate, either. He can’t be his mate at all: the bite won’t stick. The scar won’t manifest and neither will the bond. Their body chemistry won’t allow it. Any attempt at a claim will slide off of his skin like droplets of water and heal right up.
Genetically and physiologically incompatible.
𓆩⟡𓆪
In a world where alpha and omega presentations are triggered by the stress of traumatic events, Eddie Munson presents as an alpha the minute he’s dragged out of the Upside Down and into Hawkins Memorial Hospital.
Steve Harrington has been a beta his whole life.

Eddie stares at him for a second, unmoving. Then he shakes himself out of his stupor and says, “Yeah. Uh. Next Monday. Starting PT and stuff. Gotta learn how to walk again, move my hand, all that super fun stuff. Wayne says that they’re gonna make me exercise, Steve. It’s gonna suck.”
“You’ll be fine,” Steve tells him. “I’ll come visit you.”
“Yeah?” Eddie asks. He sits up a bit, leans forward as much as he can. “You will?”
“Every day, if I can,” he says, entirely honest.
“What about your job?”
Steve laughs. “Eddie, I’ve been in this hospital nonstop for the past—I don’t even know. If I haven’t lost my job already…”
“Oh,” Eddie says yet again. “Right. I forgot. Sorry. I want you to visit me. Every day. If you can. That would be really nice.”

Summary
A few months after Starcourt, Steve moves out of his parents' house and into a friend of a friend's empty RV. What follows is a long six months of unintentional minimalism, scraping by on two bucks an hour, and staring at the specter that haunts the other side of the trailer park. Meanwhile, Robin gets a song stuck in her head.
A season four rewrite.

Bookmarker's Notes
They're quiet for a couple minutes, watching the girls dance, and Steve decides to take his chance. "I hope you weren't going to try to hook up with Chrissy tonight."
"No? No no no. God no," Eddie says, the words falling out of his mouth like water. "I—no cheerleaders for me, you know?"
"Cool," Steve says.
"So, like, if you're trying to, you know—with her—if that's your type, then, like, by all means—"
"She's not my type," Steve says. "I prefer, you know, the weird ones."
"Ah," Eddie says. "Like Robin."
Steve shakes his head. "Not weird enough for me, turns out. And her taste is kinda conventional anyway."
"Oh, right," Eddie says, nodding along. It seems to take him a moment to digest all that; he waves his hands around like he's physically connecting all the dots. "Then—what?"
Steve stares him dead in the eyes.
