Work Text:
“One, two, three, o-one two three,“ Yan Wei mutters to herself while she tries to watch the movement of their feet and move at the same time. A strangled sound comes from the other side. “Oh sorry, sorry!”, she apologizes and looks up to see Xu Youyi trying not to… grimace? get angry? cry?
Yan Wei stiffens at the thought of making Youyi cry.
She's just in the middle of planning her punishment for making Youyi cry (it involves a blindfold, a glass bottle and a trip to the forest) and her apology gift (which includes but isn’t limited to: a couple boxes of the pastries Youyi has been craving for days and another 5 bags of makeup products) when she notices Youyi’s shoulders shaking.
oh wait.
Yan Wei rolls her eyes and relaxes her hands, trying not to make her relief seem too obvious.
“I’m sorry Weiwei but you’re just so cute!” Youyi lifts her hands from Yan Wei’s (who tries not to miss their warmth) and laughs into them, her palms covering most of her face as a result.
“I’m not,” Yan Wei mutters to practically no one, seeing how Youyi keeps hiding behind her palms and repeating how adorable she is between breaths. She stays like that for a couple of seconds while she tries to calm herself down, a time that Yan Wei uses to exchange a look with Lucky, who’s currently laying on the couch and couldn’t care less about this turn of events.
Youyi finally lifts her head from her hands as Yan Wei looks back to her and she lets out a giggle “Sorry, sorry, you didn’t step on me, I’m fine,” Youyi reaches for Yan Wei’s hands again. “And even if I wasn’t, it would probably be my fault,” she tugs at their hands so that she can lean closer, “ I was so fascinated looking at you trying not to trip that I almost tripped myself.”
Yan Wei immediately feels her face start to go red so she looks over Youyi’s shoulder.
She hears a chuckle from Youyi and looks back to see her making silly faces at Lucky. The cat doesn’t react at all besides just looking back at Youyi, at this point pretty used to her antics. This seems to be enough of a victory to Youyi as she smiles and looks back at Yan Wei. Her eyes widen for a second and she tilts her head sideways in curiosity.
Yan Wei feels her ears burning. She didn't notice she was smiling until she saw Youyi looking at her like that. She immediately stops smiling, to the dismay of Youyi.
“Nooo, Weiwei,” she pouts and tugs at their hands, “do it again! do it again, Weiwei!”
Yan Wei ignores her and looks down at their feet, trying to retrace the steps Youyi taught her. She’s about to take a step when she hears Youyi clearing her throat.
“Weiwei.”
Yan Wei looks up just to feel Youyi’s lips against hers. She freezes for a second before she realizes what's going on and tilts her head, losing herself in the kiss and Youyi's touch. So warm. Yan Wei leans back for a second to take a breath before Youyi gives the end of her braid a tug so that they're kissing again. Yan Wei can finally feel her body starting to respond to her when Youyi breaks the kiss and lifts her hand to cup Yan Wei’s cheek. She looks at her with a fond smile before she speaks again.
“Don’t look at the floor.” Youyi mutters, as if it was a secret between them, one that nobody else was allowed to hear.
She moves their hands to their first position so that she can show the steps to Yan Wei again.
Yan Wei just keeps looking at her partner as she moves her limbs to show her how to do a spin, while she rambles about the importance of dancing (and not stepping on your partner’s feet) in an important event.
“Alright,” Yan Wei says and Youyi looks back at her with a smile before encouraging her to take another step.
Yan Wei steps forward and peers down at her, Youyi looking back with stars in her eyes and a smile so bright that could outshine the sun.
It won't be hard at all.
