Club Room

Summary:

Day 3: School AU
One room, two clubs and two stubborn leaders arguing lead to unexpected development. Or was it truly unexpected..?

Notes:

Everyone’s in highschool so yep, I de-aged Yami, Charlotte, Magna, Vanessa, basically everyone except Asta is de-aged in this? fdsjfds. Not entirely satisfied with this one, but it’s only the third day and I’m not falling behind schedule already.

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

Classes had finally ended and now it was time for club activities, except…

“We booked the room to rehearse,” Charlotte said, arms crossed.

...except that two groups were now arguing over a room. On one side: Charlotte Roselei from the Blue Roses, aka the drama club; on the other: Yami Sukehiro from the Black Bulls, aka the band that the school administration reluctantly let play because somehow, people liked them.

“Yeah, you ‘booked’ the room?” Yami answered, unimpressed. “I don’t care. That’s our room. Everybody knows we always rehearse here at this time.”

“Rehearse?” Sol said. “All you do is make noise!”

“That’s called music, honey,” Vanessa answered. “And what do you do besides reeling out boring lines and wearing fancy costumes? You can go do that somewhere else.”

Charlotte cut Sol before she could get back at Vanessa, “The radiators in our usual room are broken again, so we booked this room. You, however, have no authorization to play here.”

“And?” Yami said. “No one cared about this run-down room before. It’s our band’s.”

“It’s the school’s and it’s ours tonight. Take your claims to Mr François if you want.”

Yami flinched then looked away, “Mmh, no. I don’t want to do that.”

“Good. Then goodbye,” Charlotte said as she turned and faced her club members.

“That doesn’t mean I’m leaving,” Yami said, arms crossed.

Charlotte sighed heavily, “We’d appreciate it if you could leave so we could rehearse.”

“But I don’t want to leave,” Yami pointed out. “We’re rehearsing here. You’re going to let us use our room.”

It took longer to get an answer this time. Charlotte sighed heavily before turning to face Yami again, rubbing the bridge of her nose in annoyance, “If only you put that much effort when we’re stuck together on a group project instead of sleeping your way out of it...”

Yami chuckled, “Yeah, I need some restorative sleep. Anyway, you’re doing much better if you’re handling the entire project alone.”

“I’ll have to agree. You wouldn’t be of much use.”

“By the way, you could’ve booked any other room but this run down one. So why did you choose mine?” Yami asked.

She didn’t answer, but a blush colored her cheeks.

“I’ll give up the room to your club for the day,” Yami said in a sigh as he picked up his bag.

“What?” Asta yelled.

“Yami!” Magna shouted in turn.

“But I have one condition.”

Charlotte didn’t let anything show, staring back at him with as much anger as she could.

“What’s your condition?”

“I want a date with you.”

There was a long silence. Everybody blinked. Once. Twice. Magna looked up in puzzleness at Charlotte’s club’s members, who stared back at him and shrugged. A few of these members were giggling, trying very hard to do it discreetly (they weren’t discreet at all). But one thing was painfully clear.

Charlotte had stopped breathing entirely.

“So?” Yami said with a grin. “I kinda need an answer right now, we have to rehearse.”

Now, most Black Bulls were shocked, but the Blue Roses were holding their breath and waiting in high expectation.

“Um. Yes. I agree. Because we need the room. There’s no other reason.”

“Yeah… sure. No other reason. Tomorrow.”

“To–?”

“You can’t refuse, by the way.”

“Tomorrow. Yes.”

“Good.”

Yami turned and shoved his shocked band members out of the room with him.

“Now that it’s settled, let’s rehearse,” Charlotte said.

But as she turned to face her club members, she realized that… it would be hard to get them back on the play. They were all either confused, giggling, whispering, grinning and some were even smirking.

“So… a date,” Puli said with a wide grin.

“For the club. I did it for the room,” Charlotte said, trying very hard to control the blush on her cheeks.

As she saw all her club members (except Sol, Sol was completely frozen and visibly still processing what had happened) sigh or roll their eyes, Charlotte explained, “The Art Week is coming and we have to—”

“Anyway, what are you going to wear tomorrow?” Selena asked with a smirk.

“Do you know where he’ll be taking you?” Puli asked.

“Do you have some conversation topics ready?” Wainsley asked.

Charlotte stared back at them blankly.

“Rehearsals are cancelled,” Selena said solemnly.

“Yami, what the hell?” Magna shouted. “We have the Art Week gig in a week and we’re not—”

“Told you you had a shot,” Vanessa said, nudging Yami.

“Damn, I can’t believe you were right,” Yami said.

“You have so little faith in me! I said I had a reliable source,” Vanessa pointed out.

“We all know your reliable sources aren't reliable,” Magna said.

“Heard it from Charlotte herself! Kind of.”

“Kind of?” Magna asked.

“Charlotte told Puli about her little crush, Puli told Gordon who told Gauche who told Grey who told Charmy who told Rill who told about twenty people among which William who told Dotty who told Nozel who obviously told no one but Noelle overheard them and she told me. Of course, it’s a secret so you can’t tell anyone.”

“It feels like half the school knows already,” Magna pointed out.

“How do you even keep track of this shit,” Yami said in a sigh.

“Wait, how did I not hear anything about it from Luck?” Magna said. “There’s no way Rill didn’t tell him.”

“Oh, Rill told Luck. Luck probably didn’t find it interesting enough to tell you. Also, I’m very disappointed in Yuno who didn’t even tell Asta.”

“Yuno knew?” Asta asked.

“William told his entire group.”

“No way! Why didn’t Yuno tell me! And Noelle too! They both knew...”

“Well, Noelle probably knew you wouldn’t keep it a secret.”

Yami scoffed, “‘cause you did?”

“No reason for me to keep it a secret if it could help you take action instead of pining.”

“I’m not pining,” Yami huffed.

“Sure. It’s not as if Finral complained about your pining to me all the time,” Vanessa giggled.

“Yeah, he complained to me too,” Magna noted with a shrug.

“And to me,” Asta added.

“I’ll kill Finral,” Yami said.

“Please don’t?” Vanessa said. “And you have your date now, isn’t it great?”

Yami shrugged, a vague smile on his lips, “Yeah.”

“Well, it’s good and all but now, we don’t have a room!” Asta whined.

“Nah, we do,” Yami said.

“We do?” Asta asked hopefully.

“Yeah, Mushroom Head gave me another room earlier. He even had Gauche move our stuff.”

“Gauche is in detention again?” Vanessa asked.

“Yeah,” Magna and Yami chorused.

Asta frowned, “But if we have a room, why did we…”

There was a silence, then Asta let out a long “aaah” as he finally understood.

Yami sighed heavily before opening the door to their new room.

“Who the hell came up with such a plan?” Magna asked.

“Yours truly,” Vanessa said proudly.

“How did you even know the Blue Roses had booked our room?” Magna asked.

“Well, Selena told Klaus, who—”

“Forget it, I don’t want to know.”

“Can we focus on rehearsals now?” Yami asked.

Notes:

They didn’t rehearse.
