Chapter Text
Childe wonders if he’s in his right mind or if he’s still sleeping—albeit a long time if that’s the case, because he felt like there’s something off. The weather is too nice, the food tastes a little too good than usual, Fatui isn’t demanding a lot of work right now (his table is too clean to be true, not even one paperwork at sight), and Lumine…
Lumine is acting very weird--in a good way.
Childe can take any sparring session at any time of the day, but it’s just so unusual of Lumine to invite him for a spar on a Friday morning with no emergency food at her side. But, of course, he accepts her invitation. There’s no work to do, anyway.
And he cannot reject her even if he tries. He’d just go crawling back at her, she’s just that too good to resist. Or he’s just too much of a simp, maybe both.
Childe sighs, he shouldn’t think too much about this. If this is just a dream, he’d want to savor every moment.
Time spent with Lumine is a treasure he’d love to bring with wherever he goes. When he comes home to Snezhnaya-or when Lumine’s too far for him to reach, memories of her will never make him fail to simply smile. Real whipped, he is.
He stares at the women right by his side, mesmerized by the fact that her beauty never diminished even though she fights monsters and mobs left and right. Her hair is a bit unkempt, but that never hinders her doe eyes from shining under the bright sun. Maybe she’s actually a sunshine incarnate, that isn’t impossible. Nothing’s impossible when it comes to her.
“... and while I was kicking your recruit’s ass, a whopper flower suddenly emerged from his feet-” God, why is she so beautiful? “And it made him fall from his ass!” Childe could only stare, not paying too much attention to her story. Although he kind of feels bad for the Fatui recruit, he would still thank him for making his Lumine smile and laugh.
Childe has always been aware but damn, she’s beautiful.
She’s beautiful whether in combat or not, or even when she trips in nothing but air, everything she does is beautiful for him. He adores her simply because she’s Lumine, a radiant star that descended at Teyvat
“Childe? Hey, Childe, are you listening to me?”
Ah, her confused face is so cute.
“Earth to Childe? Are you with me?”
Her lips look so enticing, maybe I can kiss her and she won’t get mad.
“I love you.”
Her pretty little lips just mouthed “I love you”, how cu-
Wait, what?
“What..?”
Was he just imagining it or did she say those three words that he’s been constantly telling her in his mind?
Childe stops smiling, blinking his eyes while Lumine stares at him, a little curl of her lips graces her face-driving him insane.
Too blinding-too beautiful to exist.
Lumine leans a bit more of her body close to him and stares straight at his eyes. He has always noticed, but her orbs are a beautiful shade of gold. He cannot help but drown in her eyes.
“Childe,” He momentarily stops breathing.
“I love you.”
Truly, she’s gonna be the cause of his death.
He responds, a little breathless. And a bit more softness in his tone.
He tells her what he’s been itching to blurt for god knows how long.
“I love you more, firefly.”
And, he thought, he always would.
But he won’t admit that to her… yet.
Lumine chuckles, breaking their eye contact as she stares ahead on the road.
“I know.”
