They gravitated towards Zuko whenever the temperature dipped even slightly. At night, he often woke to someone pulling their bedroll towards him, or slipping under his arm, or turning over in their sleep and colliding with his shoulder.
It alarmed him, at first. It had never been a good thing when someone woke him in the dead of the night.
It was strange, then, that he was on the run without Uncle, officially a traitor to his homeland, and for the first time since his mother left, he woke in the night sandwiched between bodies, feeling safe.

Zuko had no idea how his life ended up so backwards.
“Come on, Zuko.” The Water Tribe boy coaxed. “Think of it this way. You’ll be closer to the Avatar.” The shackles in his hands were the type that locked as soon as they closed around someone’s wrist.
“We’ll take you to the theatre!” The Avatar added chipperly. “I bet we can find one playing Love Amongst the Dragons!” His offer might have been more believable if he weren’t holding a metal net that was used by Earth Kingdom soldiers to capture firebenders.
“I bought chili powder on our last trip to the market.” The waterbender added. “You can add it to any dish you want. We won’t even judge you for it.” Her hands were empty but after the ice cage incident Zuko knew that she was as big a threat as the other two.Zuko don’t know why the Avatar and his friends suddenly decided to capture him. Iroh is rethinking his stance on the Avatar. The Wani crew can’t decide if they are amused or furious. And the Gaang just wants to reestablish the friendship that they lost when a spirit stole Zuko’s memories.
