Sudden Changes

Summary:

Sunny did not need any more sudden changes in his life. It had been a month since Sunny had remembered and told his friend the Truth about Mari. He hasn’t seen them since then.

The universe decided to screw with him anyway.

Notes:

Ok, so, I wrote this before I wrote Heavensent Demon, so the quality might be a bit less, and it also might be cringe, although that may also be me being overly critical. Anyways, as always, hope you enjoy!

Chapter Text

Sunny woke up in a cold sweat. He felt…different. Off. Sick almost. He should get up. Sunny pulled back the soft white blankets of his bed, and got up, shakily. Strange, he had been eating healthy for the past month, since the nutritionist set him up on a diet. He shouldn’t be shaky. Something was definitely wrong. Sunny walked through the mostly blank room, taking a look at the moonlight shining through his room. It was a bright beacon of glistening moonlight in the dark room. Sunny wished he had two eyes to see it, it probably would have looked even better. Ohh well, you can only have so much. Sunny grabbed his sunflower eyepatch and phone, and walked out of his room and into the hallway.

Sunny suddenly felt a discomfort in his chest and lower abdomen. It wasn’t noticeable at first, but it gradually got worse as he made his way to the kitchen for a midnight apple, using his flashlight on his phone to illuminate the way. By the time he was in the kitchen, it was downright painful. Something was very wrong. Sunny rushed to the bathroom as fast as his weak legs would carry him, but he only made it about halfway there before the pain below his stomach became too much to bear. It felt like someone was messing around with the organs down there, moving, pushing, changing. It was horrifying, and before long, he was screaming in pain. Tears streamed down his face as the pain became more and more intense. After a minute, Sunny passes out from the shear pain.

A several hours later, Sunny got up from the floor, slick with sweat, and a puddle of tears and sweat were on the ground, along with a bit of… blood? Well, he’d worry about that later. Right now, he had to keep his schedule going, and it was probably about time for him to start getting ready for the day. He grumbled as he stood up, his legs were still a bit shaky, and standing felt a bit off, almost as if something was missing. It also felt like there were two small weights on his chest, making him lean forward a slight bit. His voice seemed a bit different, almost higher pitched as well. There was also a curtain of black hair blocking his view, but he brushed it out of his way, and slowly made his way to the bathroom. He closed the door behind him, looking down at the floor to make sure he didn’t fall over or trip. He closed the door behind him, and he looked up.

He saw Mari in the mirror. Not like in the past, where Mari’s hanging corpse would haunt him, but he himself was Mari. This has to be a dream right? A hallucination perhaps. But he should have stopped having those after he told the truth. As he stood there, looking at his reflection, his longer hair fell over his eyepatch. It reminded him of how he helped hang her. How he killed her. How he took so much from everyone, and ran away like a coward. It reminded him of Something, that followed him everywhere, always staring at him, always weighing down on him.

He needed to do something. Anything, to stop looking like her. Her hair. He needed to get rid of her hair. Sunny sprinted into the kitchen, and grabbed one of the knives, it’s edge gleaming in the rising suns rays. He then rushed back into the bathroom, and grabbed a fistful of hair. He needed to get rid of it. Remove it. Stop it from reminding him of what he did, what he took from everyone. Sunny started desperately cutting the hair, not caring for neatness, the only thing that matters was getting rid of it. He almost cut the back and sides of his head, but as the strands of long black hair were hastily cut or ripped from his scalp, Something's gaze subsided somewhat, easing his anxiety a bit. A minute after he started, he was satisfied. Sunny’s hair was now an absolute mess, the once beautiful straight hair now a discordant waterfall of black coming from his head. But Sunny’s resemblance of his dead sister was gone, so he was ok with it.

Sunny looked in the mirror more carefully. His chest seemed to have more mass to it, if only a little. Strange. First the hair, now his chest. He thought back to a few hours ago, and curiosity and fear fueled him as he looked down his pants. His privates were missing. Or, more accurately, swapped. Ok, this is fine Sunny, don’t panic, this is probably just a dream! Or hallucinations! Yeah. It’s fine. Stuff like this isn't possible in real life.

Having successfully convinced herself, Sunny made her way to the kitchen, still getting used to her new body. She was hungry. Very hungry. She grabbed an apple, and ate it quietly, enjoying the sunrise as its rays shined through the window. It was relaxing. Just as Sunny was about finished with her apple, there was a knock on the door. Curiosity pushed her caution aside, and Sunny walked towards the door. She wondered who would want to get in her apartment at this time of day. Mom should be at work, and she didn’t know anyone else here, so it was a mystery. Maybe it was a package. Only one way to find out. Sunny grabbed the door, and pulled the bronze colored handle of the wood door open, to reveal to her horror, her partner in crime, Basil.
