Bingo Fill: Dragon - breath so hot, air so thick

Sam had been working for James Barnes for two years, and he’s never seen him like this before. Sure, he was used to his fancy suits and sunglasses strutting around the tall, glass skyscraper building.

He wasn’t used to him flirting. That smile, that gaze. He was his CEO, his boss.

Maybe it wasn’t even flirting and Sam was looking into it too much. Maybe it was. Maybe he wanted it.

“You wanted to see me, sir?” Sam held a case full of folders. He saw an ashtray on Mr Barnes’ desk. He always wore a necklace in the shape of a dragon - because the industry was called Dragons. It wasn’t a video-game company like many had suspected. It was all about funding the arts and high-class performances.

“Yes,” James took off his sunglasses. He always wore suits. Today it was white, pure white with his hair brushed back perfectly and his lips curled up into a smile. “I noticed you wanted a promotion.”

Sam blinked.

“I didn’t say anything about a promotion, sir.” he spoke up.

He motioned Sam to sit. He sat down on the chair. Mr Barnes’ office was quite large, with huge glass windows and a leather couch on the side, with picasso paintings on the large walls and there was a display case behind his large, long grey desk.

“You didn’t?” James perked up in his seat “strange,” he tutted and pulled out Sam’s file. “I would have loved you as Personal Assistant.” he winked.

“Mr Barnes I am perfectly happy with being in finance,” Sam replied, feeling his body tingling at his words. Bucky tutted and leaned back on his black, leather chair. He twindled his sunglasses between his lips and turned to Sam.

The thing was, as embarrassing as it was - James had a crush on Sam. He was purely smitten by Sam, the way he worked, the way he interacted with people. Not to mention he was so hot. Especially on Wednesday when he wore that purple button-up shirt.

Keep it together, Bucky told himself.

Was it wrong to invite your employee or bump into them one too many times because you loved them? Maybe. “Well, how’s that department going?” he asked, wanting the moment to last.

“Good,” Sam replied simply and placed his bag on the floor - he tapped his leg nervously “Mr Barnes, you’ve invited me into your office yesterday. You can just - fire me if you want,”

“No!” he blurted, putting his sunglasses out of his mouth and he leaned forward. He blushed “I mean; Sam, you’re one of our most valued employees. I wouldn’t fire you.”

Sam’s eyebrow perked up. “You wouldn’t? What’s the point of inviting in here, you're lonely or something?”

“Yes,” he blurted out too quickly. He blushed and stammered, Sam had this amused look on his face.

“It’s okay, I understand.”

He almost groaned, of course you understand, Sam. You’re practically perfect. He ran his fingers over his desk and sighed “you do?” he looked up into his soft, brown eyes and melted in his chair.

“Everyone gets lonely sometimes,” he smiled - Bucky felt weak in the knees, that smile was going to be the death of him “but why me? Why bring me?

“Sam, I think you deserve a promotion,” he explained, trying to avoid the question. It was embarrassing how nervous he got around Sam Wilson. He was known as a suave, a smooth player in the field of romance - but Sam Wilson makes his brain tick, it makes it stop at the sight of him.

He played with his metal watch nervously. He chewed on his lip.

Sam blinked. “I do?” he asked. Was it out of pity? Because Riley died? Because he’s a widow?

Bucky nodded, a smooth and confident smile plastered across his face. “Yes,” he leaned forward on his desk. Sam noticed that his sleeves were rolled up slightly and his blazer jacket was lying on his chair. “We can discuss it now, or later. It’s totally up to you,”

“Sir,” Sam blurted, trying to find the right words. Their eyes met and he felt his heart race “it would be an honour but I think I would have to earn it first.”

“Are you doubting yourself?” James asked, there was a layer to his voice that Sam had noticed over the years. The playfulness that he used to stir up the women at parties and drink with coy smiles.

Sam didn’t know what to say to it.

James’ hands tapped over his mouse and keyboard. There was something about Sam’s CEO that threw him off. Sure, the fancy sports cars, the diets and the heavy amounts of cologne - but it was the fact that he actively flirted with Sam.

Only Sam and no one else. Which was inappropriate, but the worst part about it - Sam liked it. He wondered what those hands would do on him. What places they would go, how warm and soft they would feel. Fuck.

He felt heat all over his body. Like fire. Like a dragon.

“You haven’t answered,” his smile was still on his face. “Cat got your tongue?”

“Uh,” Sam said, “I’m not so sure about a promotion. Promotion to what?”

Barnes licked his lips. “Anything you want.” his eyes flickered up from the screen to meet Sam’s eyes.

“That,” Sam took in a breath, “that doesn’t make any sense…”

There was a long pause, and Bucky continued to type. He then turned his chair to face him.

“Sure it does, Samuel - there’s many options. I personally think the manager position would suit you.”

“Natasha is the manager,” he protested.

Bucky’s eyes roamed over Sam’s outfit. “How about a co-manager?” he asked, smiling still. Sam began to feel infuriated. It was the way he spoke that just - made him feel on fire, warm all over…

“I think I should go,” Sam made an excuse “uh - I have a meeting with Lang’s team–”

“You don’t,” Bucky said firmly and he got up from his desk, his eyes pinning Sam down in his chair. He couldn’t move. Why couldn’t he move? Did he want to move? Bucky sat down on the desk in front of him, showing off his black suit on display.

“You don’t have a meeting,” he said smugly “I know for a fact you have an hour off.”

“You really are lonely, huh?” Sam teased a little, trying to put on some fake confidence.

“Do you want the promotion or not?” James pressed on. His hands straightened out his collar and he bit his lip. Sam was mesmerised, just a little. His mouth went dry.

“Depends what it is.”

“Personal Assistant, then?” he offered, stepping down and walking towards Sam.

His heart was racing.

“You have Sharon,” Sam mumbled. He could feel his breath, he could smell his cologne. His necklace and dogtags swung over his neck gently as he smiled. That fucking smile.

“I don’t have you,” Bucky smiled fondly. He stepped back and assessed how Sam reacted. He was clearly satisfied. It was the way the blood rushed to his cheeks, his dilated pupils and the warmth of his skin...

Oh fuck, Sam thought as he felt his pulse go up. Since when did my CEO become so...attractive?

“Oh,” was all Sam could say. He’s definitely hitting on me.

“God,” James sighed “you’re so cute you know that?” He really was. The way his lips formed up into a smile, the way Sam’s jokes could make anyone laugh. Sam frowned at his words.

“That’s not…” Sam’s words fail to come out of his mouth. He was staring at James’ lips. This is not good.

“Appropriate? I know - but someone’s gotta tell ya,” that smile came across again.

He knows it's wrong, yet he still goes ahead and does it anyway. Sam drummed his hands over the armchair and he grabbed his folders and files. James reached over quickly and gently grabbed his wrist.

He pulled away instantly, guilt written over his face. He blushed.

“Are you leaving?” he asked softly.

“Yes,” Sam could smell the cigarettes from his breath. “I’ll come back later on with my decision.”

James only nodded, he played with his watch nervously. “Of course,” he said as he watched Sam walk out the door. He swore to himself as he was alone, again - in his office. Without Sam.

He gripped his desk and let out a heavy sigh. “Shit,” he mumbled to himself. What was he thinking? He can’t just expect Sam to like him back instantly. That would be insane. The way his face was sculpted, the way he looked at him. He was surprised he lasted those ten minutes without melting in his chair.

Sharon walked into his office, handing him his coffee. “Thanks, Sharon,”

“What’s wrong, James?” she asked and folded her arms.

“Nothing,” he mumbled and drank his coffee and sat at his desk. He ran his fingers over his hair. Sam was clouding his head. All he wanted to do was pull him closer by the tie and kiss him filthy. This was not good.

His body was warm all over. That meeting was not what he expected. “Let me guess...Sam?” Sharon asked, she approached his desk and sighed “just...act normal around him.”

“It’s worse that I’m his boss,” he grumbled and he drained his coffee in five minutes flat “and it’s worse that he’s so fucking hot.

James,” she said bluntly - there was a hint of seriousness in her tone “I have watched you interact with women in multiple parties. I have seen you, without fail to get their number. Yet here you are, stammering the shit over a cute guy.”

He grumbled and opened up his emails, “have you seen his face, Sharon?”

“Yes,” she smiled. “He’s a nice guy.”

“He’s more than a nice guy,”

“Then tell him that,” she sighed “you know what, Mr Barnes - I’m too busy organising your meetings to be dealing with your love life.”

She left the office, Bucky again - was alone. He grabbed his cigarette lighter and began smoking, letting the feeling intoxicate him. Oh, how he wanted Sam - so much. Maybe he was too much of an asshole for anyone to like him. Maybe that’s why he’s so lonely.

***

It was crowded in the breakroom. Sam was sitting, alone. He thought about what happened in James’ office and tried not to think about how close he was to him. He refused to think about how his lips would taste, how his kiss would feel.

He groaned, grabbing his sandwich and digging into it. He watched as his friend, Steve, approached him with a kind smile. “You alright man?”

“I guess...” Sam mumbled - paused and hesitated to speak. He went quiet.

“Wanna talk about it?” Steve nudged his arm playfully “I mean...you don’t have to.”

“Has Mr Barnes ever flirted with you?” he asked suddenly, embarrassed.

Steve blinked and laughed. “Wow, I was not expecting that question. No, he hasn’t - why?”

Sam sighed and groaned, rubbing his face with his hand shamefully. “Mr Barnes he - he always flirts with me.” he put down his sandwich and started mumbling to himself. Steve only chuckled.

“You know, it’s sort of an honourable thing if Barnes hits on you,” he teased.

Sam blushed, and continued eating his food. He saw at the corner of his eye, a brunette man in a suit with a watch - and sunglasses. He was picking out a packet of biscuits in the breakroom bowl and slipped a few coins in the vending machine. He turned over to see Sam every now and then. A shit-eating grin appeared across his face.

“Shit, he’s coming over,” he shifted his seat so his back was facing Mr Barnes. His heart began to race again.

James straightened out his suit, got his packet of chips and biscuit and walked over. “This seat taken?” he asked. The smile didn’t disappear.

Sam could smell that he recently smoked a cigarette.

“No,” Steve replied for Sam as James took a seat next to them “so, what brings you here Mr Barnes? To the finance floor?”

“Just...wanted to check in.” he grinned and turned to Sam.

Sam felt like his skin was on fire, like his mind was weakening at the sight of James in that suit. He gripped his fist. All the temptations to feel him, kiss him - He’s your CEO.

“Uh-huh,” Sam replied, not amused. He can’t be attracted to his CEO. “Are you here to bother me about that promotion again?”

James laughed lightly, he took off his sunglasses and put them between his teeth again. “No,” his voice was husky, low - “I just, I just don’t want to eat alone.” the temples of the glasses were against his pink lips.

He’s doing this on purpose.

Steve nudged Sam’s shoulder, he winced in pain. “Alright,” Sam tried to sound friendly. The truth was, having James in the same room with him was enough to make him feel...so hot and bothered. He fixed up his collar and eyed his working desk across the table.

“I thought CEOs would be more busy,” Steve said with a nod to Sam.

“Well,” Bucky said slowly and he took the sunglasses out of his mouth “I just uh, like to check up on things.” I’m so awkward around Sam...this is shit. A bad plan. Sam made him feel like an overheating machine, he made his gears turn. Malfunction. He chewed on his lip and turned to Sam.

“Well, I’m still thinking about that promotion,” Sam said firmly. “So you can leave now,” he pressed on.

Bucky’s brain ticked. A coy smile was plastered on his face, he shuffled his chair closer. Sam could definitely smell that fucking cologne - and the minty gum he chewed earlier. “Oh please,” he said - he decided to put on his game - “you want me so bad it makes you look stupid,”

“More like the other way round,” Sam quipped back “but it's inappropriate to be hitting on your co-worker.”

“You enjoy it though,” he said smugly. Their hands brushed. A spark in the air, heavy and thick. Sam’s breath hitched.

Steve left the table, leaving the two of them alone. He cackled with laughter as he left.

“You’re a playboy,” Sam huffed. “Anyone in Dragons would be glad to go out with their CEO for a better raise or shit, but you – are a playboy. A flirt.”

Bucky’s smile dropped. That was the truth. He wasn’t exactly the best with keeping up with relationships or sustaining any. Many women in the company tried to get with him for better pay.

“Okay,” he sighed, “that may be partly true but you deserve a promotion.”

Sam paused. “Does that mean more money?”

James tilted his head back when he laughed. His voice was silky, desirable. “Sweetheart, everyone wants more money.” he chuckled.

Sweetheart. The nickname made Sam’s heart soar. Bucky leaned back, once again satisfied with Sam’s reaction. He loved watching Sam be all giddy and trying to hide it. He just loved the little things Sam did.

“You like that nickname?” he moved closer, Sam’s heart was racing. He felt light-headed.

“Where’d this sudden confidence come from?” Sam asked, his legs felt weak as he approached closer. His mouth went dry. He wasn’t even hungry anymore. He felt like his heart was about to leap out of his chest. He gripped the seat to try to contain the nerves.

James stood from his seat and approached him. His hands...were making their way towards him. Sam’s breath hitched. It was just them in the breakroom. Just them.

Bucky’s soft, slim hands tilted Sam’s face upwards to meet his steel blue eyes, and he smiled smugly. “You want a promotion?” he leaned in closer, Sam could feel his warm breath and the smell of minty gum against his lips. He could smell his heavy cologne.

Sam tensed. He couldn’t think. He didn’t want to think; he just wanted to feel him. I want to feel him.

“Yes,” Sam replied without thinking. Bucky leaned closer, their lips almost touching. His fingertips grazed his chin and facial hair. They didn’t break eye contact. He could hear the jingling of his dragon necklace and dogtags once more.

Another smug grin. It’s one of those classic ‘Mr Barnes at parties with hot women’ smiles. It’s one where his eyes looked hungry, dazed and drunk on a person.

“Then earn it, sweetheart.” he whispered as he removed his hands. He grabbed his things and walked away, his hand brushing his shoulder. Sam blinked.

Sam’s stomach dropped at the loss of contact. He liked being touched by his CEO. Fuck, that’s an issue.

***

Mr Barnes almost refused to throw this party. He poured himself another glass of liquor before walking out into the pool. There was pumping music, happy, drunk people across each table. Most importantly, Sam Wilson was there. He drank the whole cup before stuffing away his cigarette lighter and approached his table.

He was wearing a button-up suit, a fancy coat with his chest slightly exposed. He felt the cold metal of his necklace and the dogtags. He walked over to where Sam was sitting, feeling all giddy on the inside.

Sam looked so good. His heart stopped. He was wearing jeans and a red top with a flannel shirt on top. He could see his muscles.

Sam knew he had to refuse it. He had to refuse the flirting and offers from Mr Barnes. Then, he saw him approaching. He straightened out his back and brushed out his pants.

“Mr Barnes,” he greeted with a smile, trying to play it cool. The other day, when he touched him - it felt wrong, yet so - satisfying.

“Samuel,” he said. He sounded drunk, but not on alcohol but on him. His eyes travelled to his body and he stepped forward “you want that promotion still?”

“No,” Sam said honestly “I don’t think I’m ready for one.”

“Bet you liked it when I touched you though,” he leaned against the wall. He played with the accessories around his neck.

“You’re a confident one, aren’t you?” Sam scoffed, clearly not impressed.

“Hey!” James protests, almost offended “I could go up to anyone in this party and flirt with any of ‘em, but I chose you. That means something.”

“Bad choice, in my opinion,” Sam laughed. “Well…I don’t think you want me to have a promotion. You want me. Period.” He’s so confident.

“What makes you say that?” he had a self-satisfied smile across his face.

“First of all, pretty sure your CEO doesn’t go around touching people’s faces like you did,” he folded his arms. Bucky stepped forward, his hands ghosted over Sam’s arms.

“Can I do it again?” he begged.

Sam sighed. “No, you’re my CEO. You could get fired for that shit,” Bucky licked his lips, it was tempting.

“I really wanna kiss you,” Bucky whispered. His eyes were soft, begging. His lips - they ached to be kissed, touched.

Sam chewed on his lip, he did want Bucky to ask him out and kiss him. Sam doesn’t want either of them to be unprofessional. Or get tangled in the mess of romance for that matter.

“What can I do to kiss you? Or ask you out?” he continued.

“You can’t,” Sam choked, “you can’t.”

“But you want to,” he mumbled.

Sam fiddled with his sleeve. They stood there in silence. Bucky grabbed his cigarette lighter and started smoking. The soft smoke clouds streamed from his lips and into the air.

He stepped closer. “I - I clearly expressed my disinterest, James.” He stammered. He needed to escape this party, escape his CEO and his charm and smile. He can’t fall for it.

Bucky stepped back and bit his lip, taking another puff of smoke. “Sorry,” he apologised. “It’s just that - you make me feel crazy.” his voice was so soft, so gentle when he spoke those words.

“I do?” Sam asked, his heart continued to race. Why am I not moving! Start walking away! Say goodbye!

“Yeah,” he sighed “but if you don’t feel the same way, that’s - okay.” he leaned against the wall.

Sam stood there for a moment, thinking. He wanted to prove him wrong, so badly. He has thought of kissing and holding this man for the past few weeks. He imagined what it was like to hold his hands, taste his lips.

Was he in denial?

Sam stepped forward. “Touch me again,” he whispered.

“What?” Barnes blushed. Did he actually say that?

“Hold me,” Sam mumbled and stepped forward “I - I have wanted you for a while. I...was confused when you started to hit on me. I thought it was a joke but...you, you touched me in the breakroom and I wanted more.”

A coy smile appeared on James’ lips, he stepped forward. He stamped out his cigarette and cupped Sam’s face and kissed him with confidence.

Sam rested his hands on his lips. They leaned against the wall as Sam tasted his cigarette-covered tongue, the sourness of the liquor. Their warm, heated bodies pressed up against each other.

Fire. His breath was so hot, his touch was electrifying.

James felt like fire, a raging inferno of heat and tension. His breath was warm against his lips, his teeth poked his upper lip as they went further, further. His skin was tingling from the contact.

They parted for a breath.

“Fuck,” Sam sighed. His lips were moist, slightly swollen - and he loved it. Every second of it. “This is going to complicate things.”

“What do you mean?” James said, a hand cupping one side of Sam’s face. His blue eyes softened, like he was melting in front of him. “We can...date, if you want.”

“I don’t...wouldn’t you be fired for this shit?” he questioned.

“But you’re worth it,” he smiled. His thumb traced his lips “you still want a promotion?”

“I...no,” he admitted “I don’t know. I don’t know how to–” his cheek warmed up at the memory of the breakroom “earn it.

James removed his hands from his face and dug his hands to find his keys. “Well, I could - give you a house tour?”

“You keep avoiding questions,” Sam grumbled.

“Okay, but when I said ‘earn it’ I was just - being cocky...and trying to hit on you.” he bit his lip shyly.

Sam sighed. Maybe Mr Barnes really was a flirt. Maybe he shouldn’t have confessed.

“So - I’m just your token employee to hit on?” he crossed his arms. He remembered what Steve said. It was ‘an honour’ to be hit on by the CEO. To Sam it didn’t feel like an honour if it wasn’t real, it felt like a game.

“No!” he protested “Sam you can be more than that. I’m genuinely into you…”

Sam stepped back “this was...a mistake. I shouldn’t have kissed you - or told you anything…” Sam’s doubts started eating at his mind. Why would his CEO want to date him? For reputation? To gain popularity in Dragons?

If only Riley could see him now.

Bucky lightly grabbed his wrist. “Stay,” he begged “please.”

Sam took in a breath. He can’t risk it...He can’t. Not after losing Riley. Not after...everything. But he wants to, so much. He wants to feel him, hold him and kiss him until they’re breathless. He wants to do it forever.

“I can’t–” he choked. “It's worse that you’re my boss. I don’t even want a stupid promotion I just want…” You. But I can’t have you. What would people say? Think?

“Whatever you want I can get it for you,” James pleaded.

“I don’t need your bargains or anything,” he pulled his hand away and stepped back. “Don’t even think about buying your way into my heart.”

Bucky frowned, slightly hurt by his words. “You deserve to be treated well, Samuel. I can provide that for you.”

“You don’t need to provide anything for me,” Sam snapped. He stood his ground. He began walking off to his car and Bucky was left there, alone.

He kicked the floor and took a deep breath. He swore as he watched Sam walk away. It was just home, alone - again. So alone...The pool lights, the vibrant music and happy guests made him feel empty.

“I fucked up,” he groaned, leaning against the wall. “I fucked up…”

***

Riley was Sam’s husband. Was. When he died in that car crash, Sam’s world fell apart. He couldn’t imagine the idea of loving anyone again or being loved.

He folded himself up in his bed and thought of Bucky. Could Bucky love him?

His lips still tingles from the kiss. He rolled on Riley’s side of the bed. He covered his head in pillows. When he first started working for Dragons, all he wanted was to have a good job. Not this. Not conflicting feelings and an attractive CEO.

He’d have nightmares about Riley. His Riley… Would Riley approve of Barnes?

He tugged at his bedsheets. He stared at his phone on the bedside table. It was buzzing with alerts and texts. Did he want this? Did he want to be with his CEO? Go on dates, kiss...do all that couple-shit. Was it even worth it?

Was he even worth it?

Sam reached out for his phone and opened his notifications.

STEVE: You left the party early, you good?

STEVE: Mr Barnes ran into his house and cried for an hour apparently.

Sam stared at his screen and blinked. James cried for an hour? Why? He was the one being cocky...but then again, they did make out. And he liked it. A lot.

Sam groaned and put his phone down. He was not looking forward to tomorrow.

***

Bucky woke up with a massive headache. A hangover. Great. He shouldn't have drank so much last night. He shouldn’t have been so dramatic. Sharon was calling him.

He looked at the time. 9.33am. “Shit,” he groaned and buried himself in pillows. He’s late for work. That’s not a good look. He scrambles to his feet and gathers his clothes, he goes downstairs and eats some leftover pizza. He tries to remove some of the tiredness in his eyes, and he washes his face in cold water. He shaves and brushes out his hair.

He put on his suit and grabbed his bag.

He heads out the door to his fancy sports car, thinking of Sam.

***

Mr Barnes’ car pulled into the parking lot. Sam saw it from the window of the building. He could barely sleep last night. He rubbed his eyes and continued typing. He didn’t even want to look at James, or see him within his sight.

Bucky walked into his office and slumped into his chair. He was so tired. So hungover. So upset that he messed things up with Sam. Sharon already had his coffee laid out for him. He drank it quickly and began going over his emails. He drummed his fingers anxiously over Sam’s contact on the screen.

There was no actual reason to contact Sam. It would be seen as another way to hit on him. He groaned and let himself sink into his arms. How pathetic was this? A CEO struggling to socialise. He could have any car, any laptop or watch in the world yet he struggles to have Sam. The only thing he has wanted for a long, long time. He began pacing back and forth in his office, putting on his sunglasses to hide his tired, worn-out eyes.

There was a knock at the door. “Come in,” he reluctantly said.

“Mr Barnes, you have a meeting in two minutes,” Sharon informed.

He almost slammed his head on his desk out of frustration. He did not need to drink that much last night. Sharon frowned and placed her hands on her hips. “Let me guess, hangover?”

He nodded sleepily, “I might as well go to this meeting…” He got up and started walking out into the hallway and into the elevator.

***

Sam saw Bucky through the glass walls. He was having a meeting. He found that Mr Barnes looked up every now and then to meet his eyes and then quickly look down. He’s not that focused, Sam thought as he wrote down a few numbers on a piece of paper. Is he hungover?

Steve was eyeing Sam across the table. “Hey man, why’d you leave early last night?” he asked, concerned.

“Oh uh,” his eyes flickered to Mr Barnes in his meeting a few meters away. “No reason...I just wasn't feeling it.”

“If you need to talk, I’m here.”

“I know, Steve.”

His friend smiled, he looked across from their shared desk and to the glass walls. “It is because of...Mr Barnes over there?”

“Kind of,” Sam sighed, he tapped his pen against the desk nervously. “I dunno, I don’t think he’s...honest or trustworthy.”

“Why’s that?”

He bit his lip nervously. “I don’t know...” he replied.

Mr Barnes began wrapping up his meeting. He shook hands with the men in suits as they walked out of the room. He began walking to Sam’s desk. His heart rate picked up again. He was making his way, closer and closer. His sunglasses covered his eyes so it was harder to read him.

“Mr Wilson,” James greeted formally, he nodded to Steve “Mr Rogers...” he looked at Sam and chewed his lip nervously. “If I may, Samuel I want to apologise for being such a horrible person last night. I shouldn’t have pushed anything onto you.” he fiddled with his sleeve nervously.

Steve raised his eyebrow curiously at Sam.

Sam swallowed “it’s okay…” he said slowly. A smile played on his lips. He stood up “I’m giving you a second chance. How about I take you out for coffee or something?”

James smiled, relieved. “Well, I guess it’s better than a promotion.”

“I know you’re hungover, by the way,” Sam nudged his shoulder playfully.

“Oh, shit…” he mumbled, he shuffled his feet. “I should uh - get back to my office…” he rubbed the back of his neck.

“Let me walk you…” Sam offered with a coy smile. So the two walked to his office. Their arms would brush up against each other every now and then. Bucky felt insane, he felt like his skin was on fire.

He opened the door to his office. They walked inside, silently. Awkwardly.

He gave Sam a warm smile “I’m sorry, again…”

“It’s okay,” Sam swallowed “I think - I’m just afraid of opening up to people. Ever since I lost Riley, I’ve been different.” he stuffed his hands in pockets. He rocked back and forth on his heels. “But I’d like to try it with you - the whole dating thing.”

“Really?” James asked with a coy smile.

“Yes,” he smiled.

Sam stepped forward and kissed him. Bucky kissed back, the feeling of warmth, the taste of his lips was enough to pull him closer. Their bodies were so close. Sam’s hands found his way to Bucky’s necklace and traced his fingers along his collar bone.

They were pressed up against the wall of his office now. Kissing and kissing until they were breathless and needy.

Bucky parted, he wanted more. He yearned for more. “I think you earned that promotion,”

“To what?” Sam asked smugly, still chasing his lips.

“Being my boyfriend,” James said and kissed him again.
