Title: Every Day I Love You More
Author: Wereleopard58
Rating: T/Teen and up audiences
Show: 911
Pairing: Buck/Eddie, Slash,
Warning: For all of 911, I love all the characters, but I portray some in a negative light just for this story.
Summary: Buck had come back to LA. It had been just over six months. They had accused him of planning to sue the station, which was a lie. He knew the three people that had given the lawyer all the information. He'd had surgery and was starting his own business. The only people he wanted to see were Eddie and Christopher. Buck wasn't ready to let the Diaz's go just yet. He had to know what Eddie believed and how would they move forward, if they could.
A/N This is considered an AU. The lawsuit never happened. His relationship with Maddie and his parents are completely different. Ana bashing, it's hard to tell. I can't get a feel for her. She hasn't really shown a personality. She just seems to be precisely what his parents want for Eddie and considering he'd been fighting that and just suddenly go for that type appears odd. Lena's station is made up.

Evan 'Buck' Buckley had moved back to LA. He had no longer used Buck and had gone back to his actual name. This was the right place for him to start up his own business no matter what had happened before. He may no longer be a firefighter, but there were still different ways to help people.
He was actually a trained physiotherapist. Evan had wanted to travel before settling into his career, and then he'd found firefighting. It was something he loved instantly, but somehow it became everything to him and look where that led.
Why hadn't anyone come to ask him about suing the department? He wasn't going to. There was no need. Three weeks before everything blew up, he had sent in his resignation to the main office. Things had been weird with Bobby, so Evan hadn't wanted to go through him. If he had, things would be different, but he was glad it turned out the way had.
Most things were more evident to him now. He knew who he was and what he had wanted to do. The only person who didn't verbally attack him was Eddie. It looked like he'd been struggling and had been for weeks. At some point, they would have to meet up and discuss everything.
It seemed Chase Mackey had wanted to get some money. He had cornered Evan and tried to persuade him to sue. This clearly didn't work. After that, he had tried to push the buttons of the 118, which had worked like a charm. It didn't have the effect he was after. Mackey had wanted Even to sue in revenge. If it had been one week later, Evan would no longer have been a firefighter, and none of this would have mattered.
Once he'd moved back in with his maternal grandparents, and he was getting ready for surgery. Unbeknownst to him, they had researched the lawyer. What they had found out was that his wife had thought he'd been having an affair, he had, but she'd hired a private investigator and found out much more.
It seemed his grandparents had talked to their lawyers and had hired their own Pl. Once they heard about these photos, they'd made a deal with Mrs Mackey. She would hand them over if they found her the best divorce lawyer. They were willing and had said yes, found and paid for the best, so Mr Mackey would get buried
Evan was and wasn't surprised by what they had found; between the three people involved, they would've been able to gather all the required information. These photos weren't just the odd one. There were many and over numerous days; each person had seen Mackey in person at least a few times and for a couple of hours. He had no idea how much they had logged in phone calls.
The first person was Taylor Kelly. She was a reporter, after all. She had asked him out to have some 'fun'. He'd already realised he had feelings for Eddie, so he refused. It wasn't just because Evan had said no. Taylor had built up how much he had liked her. She had inflated the story until she nearly made him sound like a stalker. Taylor had also made a bet with her co-workers. So when he said no, they started to rip into her the same as she'd done to them
Taylor had followed him outside and then yelled at him. This is when he'd found out about the bet and everything else. When she realised what she'd admitted to, Taylor stormed away. It wasn't enough, and she somehow ended up talking to the sleazy lawyer.
The next person was Maddie, his sister. They weren't close, but when she needed help, he was there. Evan had never asked how she knew where he was. He assumed it was to do with their parents, and he wanted nothing to do with them. Maddie would have got information from Chimney and the others at the 118. It seemed how she was settled; Evan was just in her way. Growing up, Maddie and Daniel had been their parent's perfect children. After Daniel died, Maddie became their ideal little girl. Everything revolved around her. She was the centre of attention.
He assumed that was one of the reasons she fell for Doug, as he had treated her the same way. He'd been the one who got beaten in their family. It wasn't something he wanted anyone to go through, so helping his sister had been easy. Now she wanted all the attention on her, and Evan was in the way.
The third and last person to give Mackey information was Ana Flores. She and Eddie had just started to date. Christopher was not happy, and by the glares she threw his way, Ana hated how close he was with the Diaz's. So, she had found a way to get rid of him.
Mackey may have been money-hungry but had managed to find them without alerting anyone else. He clearly knew what he was doing.
The other thing people seemed to think was that he was doing it for money and not for getting his job back. It was neither because it never happened, but he didn't need money. What no one knew was that he was rich. It wasn't something he flaunted, he wasn't extravagant, but somehow people believed all he wanted was money.
Evan hoped he wouldn't see any of them apart from Eddie and Christopher. He and Eddie needed to talk, and they would. He struggled out of the cab with his crutches. He soon hoped he would be able to balance properly, and the pain would go.
There were a few things he needed to do and that was to check on how they were doing in creating his new offices and work area. A lot of building work was required to be done inside, and then there was the decorating. Evan also needed to find a receptionist and cleaner just to start off with. Once he sorted out the ads for those jobs and looked at security systems, he could go home and sleep. He loved his new bungalow

Eddie was getting tired of everything; it seemed to be getting worse. The first thing was when Buck vanished, he'd never believed the whole suing crap, but he'd had so much going on he was just lost. Now he'd lost the best friend Eddie ever had, and maybe it could have been more. He was trying hard to please his parents, and he'd lost who he was. He also pushed any romantic feelings for Buck deep down inside and kept them locked away.
The 118 had kept going on about Buck even after he'd gone. It was weird, but Maddie would always start something when she was around. Eddie had asked Bobby to get them to stop. He'd refused and said they were allowed to after being betrayed. Not long after that, he spoke to Lena. There was room at the station where she worked, 216. She had spoken to her Captain and explained about Buck and why Eddie thought it was bullshit.
Eddie had transferred; the 118 were confused and angry. He had to do what was right for him and Christopher. His first day and Captain Webster had called him to his office. He had done a little research and had found out the Buck had handed in his resignation three weeks before the whole lawsuit came about. So him suing made no sense.
"Daddy?"
"I'm sorry, Christopher, I was just thinking about things. I'm glad the two of us could do this today," Eddie smiled at the person that he loved more than anything, his son
"So am I, um."
"What is it? You can tell me anything, you know that, right?"
"Uh-huh. I was trying to be happy for you, but ..." Chris sniffled.
Eddie moved around to the other side of the table that they were sitting at. They were having ice cream at their favourite diner. He hugged Christopher.
"What's wrong, mijo?"
"I don't think I can do anything." He sobbed.
"What do you mean?"
"Abuela and Abuelo keep telling me I can't do things. They give me babies' cups, plastic plates and babies' books. Ana agrees and says I have to know my limits."
Eddie was livid; he knew the last bit was something Ana had actually said. Christopher had carefully repeated it.
He'd let his family and Ana get away with things as he just thought it was about him. But now, it was knocking his son's self-esteem, and that was it.
"I'm sorry, maybe we should stay away from them for a little bit; you, I, Carla, my Abuela, and Tia Pepe, we can do some fun things."
"l miss Buck. He'd always let me try things as long as I was safe."
"I miss him too, and I'm so sorry I didn't talk to him before he left." Eddie had tried to explain the situation as best he could. He still wasn't sure that Christopher completely understood. "Why don't we go home, flake out and watch some tv, just the two of us." He laughed as Christopher nodded eagerly.

Ana was heading towards the diner that Eddie liked. She thought it was disgusting. Once they were married, she'd put a stop to it. She was relieved that she got on with his parents. They agreed on the same thing. Ana was working towards Christopher going with them. They clearly knew what he needed and had the time. Then, once they were married and alone, they would have children of their own. It was taking a little time, but he was doing more and more of what she wanted. Ana knew she was a lucky woman.
This is when she saw him. What the hell was Evan Buckley doing here? He would ruin everything? Was he planning on meeting Eddie and Christopher? Had they all planned this behind her back? Ana needed to stop whatever he was going to do. She angrily stalked over to him.

As Eddie and Christopher left the diner, they were going to get the car and go home. Just then, they heard a commotion. They both glanced eat each other, shrugged their shoulders and went off to investigate.
As they turned the corner, Eddie felt as if all the air had been stolen from his lungs. He had to be hallucinating.
"Buck," Christopher screamed.
Buck was on the floor. His crutches were next to him. Ana was standing glaring, and a police officer had arrived. Ana suddenly started to cry, and she pointed to Buck.
"He tried to attack me. I did whatever I could to get away."
"You have to be kidding me," Evan muttered.

The police officer just stared at her and rolled his eyes. "That's what you're going with?"
Ana glared at him. "Of course I am. It's the truth. Do your job and arrest that man. I want to press charges. He's always hated me. Evan Buckley is jealous. He wants me for himself."
Evan couldn't help but laugh. "Do you really think that, or are you just jealous of my friendship with Eddie and Christopher?"
Both Diaz's smile at the mention of a friendship. Eddie will let Buck just see Christopher if that's what was needed. He had hoped they could talk and he could be a part of Buck's life. What was just said made him feel hopeful. As he turned, he could see Ana glaring at them.
"Look, ma'am–."
"Do your job, or is that too much for you? Do I need to go over your head?" She sneered. Why didn't he just arrest him?
"I was trying to help you out."
Eddie and Christopher were going over to Buck. He wanted to help his friend up. It's something he would never be able to do on his own.
"Stay where you are?" She ordered them.
"Excuse me!" Eddie couldn't believe what she had just said. "Did you just order us to stay?" He crossed his arms over his chest. His jaw clenched anger.
Christopher hid behind his dad and peaked around so he could still see what was going on.
Ana could see she had made a mistake. "I'm sorry." She sniffed a little. "I was just afraid he would hurt you both. He's a dangerous man. I bet the crutches were just a ploy."
Evan couldn't help but laugh at the act she was putting on. "Does that actually work?" He asked.
"No," Eddie and Christopher both replied.
The police officer coughed to get the attention back on him. "As I was saying, Ms?"
"Ana Flores." She wished he would arrest Buckley already so she could do damage control with Eddie. Christopher didn't really matter as he was just a kid and didn't get a choice.
"Ms Flores, not only do most of these stores have cameras, some streets do too. I'm sure we could find one with the whole incident on it." He watched as she paled. "But that doesn't really matter, as I witnessed the whole thing myself. I suggest you apologise to...?"
"Evan Buckley." He winced as he tried to move.
"I am not apologising to him." Ana was horrified at the very thought of doing that.
"It doesn't matter. Just let her go." He was hurting and just wanted to go home.
"You heard Mr Buckley, please leave." The officer raised his eyebrows as she stood there.
"Let's go, Edmundo." She smiled sweetly at him.
"No, just go, Ana, and I know it wasn't a coincidence that you were here. You knew very well that this was a day for just Chris and me."
Ana opened her mouth to argue but knew that it would make things worse. She would explain to Eddie when they were alone. Ana turned and walked away in a sulk.
"Thank you, Officer?" Buck looked up at him.
"Jacobson, and you're welcome. I was just glad I was here" He and Eddie both reached down and helped Evan to his feet. "I think you're going to need to be careful with that one. I'm going to make a report. Can I have your contact details just in case?" Both of them gave over their information.
"I could give you Ana's as well if that would be helpful?" He wasn't going to let her hurt Buck again.
"That would be very helpful, Mr Diaz. I am hoping that she doesn't do anything else. Well, it was nice to meet you all. Goodbye, Mr Buckley, Mr Diaz." He looked down at Christopher, "and Mr Diaz. You'd better keep an eye on them both."
"I will, sir," Christopher giggled.
Eddie reached down and grabbed the crutches. He watched as Buck leaned against a post. "I'm so sorry, Buck."
"Evan, I don't go by Buck much now." He took the crutches from Eddie. "But Christopher, you can still call me Buck. If you want."
Christopher just looked at one of the people he loved most. He didn't want to hurt him, but calling him anything but Buck was weird. "Can I call you Bucky?"
Evan realised that it was a compromise. He loved this kid so as much. "I think that sounds amazing."
Christopher knew Bucky was hurting. He had crutches, after all. So he leaned forward and hugged him gently. Evan placed a hand on Christopher's back.
"I'm going to apologise right now because I know I'm going to slip up on the name thing. Just remind me. Okay, Evan?"
He loved the way Eddie said his name and would never get tired of hearing it.
"Okay, I will." He replied.
"What are you doing now? Can we help? Can we take you home?"
"Home sounds like a wonderful idea, but I can call a cab."
"Please let us take you, unless it's too much, too soon. I don't want to make uncomfortable." Eddie felt a little lost around Evan, and he didn't know what to do.
"I would like that, thank you." He smiled at Eddie and then looked down, and Christopher was still hugging him gently. "We can continue this at home, okay?"
"Okay." He replied.
Slowly the three of them made their way to Eddie's vehicle.
XXXXX
Ana stood around the corner, so she could peak at them without being seen. How dare Evan Buckley embarrass her by laughing? Eddie should have stood up for her. It didn't matter that she was lying. She was his girlfriend and now the three of them were leaving together and they looked happy. This couldn't be allowed. She pulled out her cell from her bag and dialled.
"Hello Ramon," she said sweetly as soon as he answered. "I have some news and I am worried about it." Ana waited as he replied. "Well, Evan Buckley is back, and I'm worried for Christopher's safety." She had to pull the phone away from her ear as he started to yell. She eventually put it back. "Yes, I understand. I hope you can talk some sense into him. Goodbye, and talk to you soon," Ana smiled as she put her cell away. He always tried so hard to please his parents. This would drive a wedge to the two best friends, or was it former best friends? It didn't matter. After all, it soon would be over.

"Hey Simon, anything interesting going on?" Athena asked the other Officer.
"Just a crazy girlfriend trying to cause problems." Simon Jacobson replied.
"That sounds like a fun one."
"I felt sorry for Evan Buckley." He didn't notice when Athena froze.
"Oh yeah, why?"
"He was doing nothing, just being careful not to get jostled too much as he was on crutches. Then this Ana woman comes over, slaps him, and kicks him in his leg. I'm hoping he had one good one. She then pushed him hard. He lost his balance and fell."
"Is, uh, is he okay?" She asked.
"He seems to be, the Diaz's father and son aided him. But the thing was, as soon as she saw me; Ms Flores acted as the victim and accused him of attacking her. People like that piss me off. She's made these lies up, making it harder for the victims to come forward if people don't believe them. They have a hard enough time without people like Ms Flores making it more difficult."
"It's a shame people play the victim card just to get their own way." Athena was a little confused. Bobby had told her that Ana had been one of the witnesses overhearing Buck talking about the lawsuit. But with this incident, it made no sense. Athena wasn't going to let this go. Something didn't feel right. "I'm glad Mr Buckley is okay. Well, off to file my reports."
Simon smiled at her. "We have such exciting lives."
"Don't we just," Athena replied, and the two-headed off in different directions to get their work done. But first of all, she needed to tell Bobby who was back.
XXXXX
Bobby walked over to his team, "Buck's back."
Hen and Chimney glanced at each other. A lot of the firefighters remembered Buck fondly. They stayed out of it when the rants started. The newbies had heard of the guy. They'd heard conflicting stories and didn't know what to believe.

"Mum, Chimney just called me. Buck is back. You might be able to get him to help with your parents. Or give his money to you?" Maddie smiled as she talked to them.

Eddie and Christopher looked around Buck's home. It was just one floor, it was a large building. Both of the Diaz's collapsed on the couch and yawned.
"Daddy, I can feel like I could sleep."
Eddie smiled at his son. He felt the same way. They'd had a bad night but still wanted to go out today. But Evan was back in their lives. He was someone they trusted unconditionally. He'd always have their backs. This made Eddie feel guiltier.
"Would you like to have a nap?" Evan asked.
"Yes, please, Bucky."
"This way." The three of them walked into a lovely simple bedroom. "Will this do?"
"I don't have anything to change into."
Evan went to the chest of draws and took out two t-shirts. "These will be a bit big on you, but I don't want them anymore." It was his LAFD t-shirts.
"There are two of them." Christopher smiled at him.
"Yes, there are. Would you like both of them?"
He nodded quickly. "Can I have one here and take one home?"
Before Eddie can say anything, Evan jumps in.
"Of course you can. Call us when you are ready to sleep."
"I will."
The two men walked back into the lounge.
"I would like you both in my life. You and I need to talk. That room was made for him. It has an en suite suited to his needs. He's always welcome here. You both are."
"Thank you, Evan. This means everything to us."
XXXXX
Ana didn't know what to do. Eddie hadn't texted or called her back. She had gone to his house, and he wasn't there. Had her jealousy over Buck pushed her too far. She had to make Eddie listen to her. They were great together. He would listen to her, he would.
XXXXX
Evan and Eddie had sat down on the couch after putting Christopher down for a nap.
Eddie agreed to stay here for the night after nonstop texts from different people. No one knew where he was.
"I guess I should start about why I didn't come and talk to you when this all went down."
"I would like to understand, Eddie."
"First of all, I'm not making excuses. I failed you. I'm just going to tell you what was going on."
"Okay."
"I guess it all started with Shannon. The night before she died, she told me, she wanted a divorce. I was devastated."
"Eddie, I'm so sorry." Evan reached over and took hold of his hand.
"That actually wasn't the worst. After she died, her things were sent to me for Christopher. But in amongst the paperwork was a fairly detailed plan."
"A plan for what?"
"To get full custody of Christopher and to get away from me. Shannon just wanted me for sex. She was then going to build up our relationship, so I would trust her. Then when she believed that we were happy, Shannon would leave with Christopher and sue to get full custody and to find a man that was 'worthy' of her."
"Oh my god, that's horrible. Does Christopher know?"
"No, and he doesn't need to. She's gone, and I think it's important his memories of her are happy ones."
"I would've helped you know."
"I do, and when I was ready to tell you, the fire truck was bombed, and you were stuck beneath it. I like to try and pretend my PTSD didn't exist, but after it hit me badly."
"You got help, right?"
"Eventually, yes. I then met Ana, my parents were finally happy with something I did. Then the tsunami hit. I'd made friends with Lena Bosco and she took me to street fighting."
"Eddie!"
"I know, not my greatest choice, in theory, it was to stop me bottling things up. It just made things worse. I kept getting injured and had to stay away from people. My parents, whenever l did something they didn't like, threatened to take Christopher away from me and Ana agreed with them."
"She what? Are you kidding me?" Evan wanted to yell but was aware that Christopher was close by and asleep.
"I felt like I was drowning." The only reason Eddie could carry on talking was that Evan was holding his hand. "Then the fake lawsuit crap came up. I was about to have another fight when I heard two men talking. One of them had said his wife had left him and had taken their children. He said she had found out about the fighting, and after they argued, she thought it was clear that he was addicted to it. He said this was all he had left. It made me think of Christopher, what he'd already lost, what my parents would do and what you would say."
"I'm glad you stopped, you did stop, right?"
"Yes, I did. I came looking for you. I was too late. I spoke to Maddie, and she said she had no
idea where you would go. She said you had no other family but her and your parents."
"I'm sorry I didn't leave a way to contact me. I needed space and Maddie lied. She and my parents don't consider me family and I was raised by my maternal grandparents from when I was 11."
"Why did she lie?"
"That's another story, and hopefully, I will tell you one day. So you stayed with Ana? Why? Sorry."
Eddie just laughed for a moment. "It's fine. I am going to end things with her. I just thought spending time with you was more important. When I found out you left, I realised I failed you, just like I seemed to do all the time. I was a failure, and I didn't want Chris to see that. I thought being with Ana would make him happy. Once again, I was wrong, and she didn't. I tried so hard to do what everyone wanted; I was losing myself."
"I have no idea how this going to come across, but I am only trying to help."
"I know; say what you need to."
"The odd times you didn't do what your parents or Ana wanted. What happened?"
Eddie frowned at him. "They all said maybe Christopher was better off with my parents."
"Okay, and were you rewarded when you did what they wanted?"
"Yes, I guess my parents would tell me they were proud and loved me. Ana would..." Eddie understood where Evan was going with this. "They were training me like you do a pet. I got treats if I was good and a smack on the nose if I was bad. I can't seem to do anything right."
"No, Eddie, that's not true," Evan pulled him into a hug. "You are one of the most important people in my life. You're an amazing dad. You're a hero to me. My life would be emptier without you. All these people are using you. It's not your fault, but theirs."
The two men pulled back. Evan gently wiped away the tears from Eddie's face. They stared or each other. All Eddie wanted to do was kiss him, but he knew that would be a huge mistake as they had just started to talk again.
Just then, Eddie's cell beeped and broke them off at whatever spell they'd been under. He was about to thank whoever sent it, he read the message.
"Ana's been talking to my parents, and because you're back, they think it's best if Christopher lives with them."

A/N I love all the main characters. It just doesn't work for this story. As I haven't exactly planned this story, more tags will be added.
Just to let you know if you've never read my fics before. I suffer permanent pain, so depending on how bad I am not always able to write. June 2020, I had a mild stroke, so now and again, I have a problem with my right hand, and hopefully, I will be having surgery for my kidney stones. Apart from that, I am all good. "I'm sorry; your parents want to do what?"
"They've always believed that Christopher would be better off with them." Eddie leaned back against the couch and closed his eyes.
"Christopher is better off with you, and Ana wants me out of your life. They are still trying the reward or punishment thing," Evan sighed. There was something else he wanted to say, but it might be too much.
"What is it?" Eddie mumbled.
"Huh?"
"That sigh, there's more you want to say."
"Yes, but you've been through a lot."
Eddie sat forward and looked over at him. "If this is to do with Christopher and my parents, I need to know. You were right about the 'reward' system."
"I always imagined that the only reason you showed love to Christopher was because of Abuela and Pepe. I don't know your parents very well, but they didn't seem to show much love."
"You're right Abuela and Pepe are amazing. My dad is what you imagined. He's an old-fashioned man who never apologised, but the weird thing is with me, I had to be a man. I had to stand up and do what I had to. But he's the opposite with Christopher. My mum was there. She took care of us but never really showed love. So tell me what you are thinking?"
"I think your parents liked you better when you were young kids. You did what they said. You followed their lead. As you got older, things changed, and you had your own thoughts and opinions."
"Don't most kids?"
"Yes, they do, and in my case, that was a good thing." Evan could see Eddie look at him. "I'll tell you about it. Your parents clearly want you to be a clone, which brings us to Christopher. If they make him 'helpless', he will always need them and do what they want. I don't think they're doing it consciously. Still, they don't seem to like him doing anything independently, like drinking out of a normal glass. The last place Christopher needs to be is with them."
"I never thought of it that way."
"Normally, kids don't want to think of their parents negatively. I know you doubt yourself, but I needed you to understand how much worse and unhappy Christopher would be."
"What do I do now?"
Evan wanted to help, then a thought hit him "Wait, when your parents or Ana talk about taking Christopher, what do they say?"
"That they take him, he should be with them."
"So they just say they'll take him?"
"Yeah, why?" Eddie was confused and felt like an idiot. Evan had spotted something.
"Well, unless they mention getting custody of him legally, it sounds like kidnapping. They do think you will hand him over willingly. What will they do if you don't?"
"They've always been controlling. I am guessing that they assume being their grandparents, they have that right."
"I know we've just met up, and we still have things to talk about, but I truly believe Christopher belongs with you. Let me help you."
"How can you help?" He wanted to believe there was something Evan could do. He was so glad they were together again.
"Okay, my grandparents are rich. Let me call them so they can talk to their lawyers. If we can get a letter sent to your parents by very expensive and outstanding lawyers. If you still have the text messages, answer phone messages the lawyers can spin it to make it looks like they are planning a kidnapping."
"Will that work?"
"What do you have to lose? The main thing is what are you going to do now about them. If you carry on as you are, they aren't going to give up and Ana agreeing makes them think they are doing the right thing. But anyone who says the opposite is jealous."
Eddie knew things had to change. He took a deep breath. Ana and his parents had gone too far.
"Can you call your grandparents? I promise to pay you back."
"I'll call them, but you don't owe me anything."
"But–."
"Just accept it. You won't win this argument." They both laughed. "So, what else are you going to do?"
"I'm going to call Ana and split up with her. I don't think I'll do it in person after what she has done to you. I'm going to tell my parents I am cutting contact with them and getting a lawyer. I don't think Christopher will be emotionally safe or happy with them," Eddie felt like a weight had been lifted off him. He didn't know whether it was the decisions he made or the fact Evan was back in his life. It was probably both.
"How are you doing?"
"I feel exhausted, but I don't want to be alone."
"Let's check on Christopher, and then we can have a nap on my bed."
"Evan..."
"There is something you should know. If it makes you uncomfortable, I understand."
"Why would I be uncomfortable?"
"After the fire truck explosion and the tsunami, my calf started to hurt. I went to see a specialist, a few of them actually. They tried different things, but nothing worked, and they had to amputate below my knee. I still need the crutches because I haven't found a prosthetic that works for me and my balance is still off. It's why I handed in my resignation. We were still trying things, so that's why it took some time."
"Oh my god Buck, I mean Evan. I should've been there with you."
"Now I know you had a lot going on."
"I still should have been there for you, and no, I'm not uncomfortable. I'd love to take a nap with you," Eddie stood and held out his hand.
Evan reached out and took it and was pulled to his feet. They walked towards the bedrooms hand in hand. If Eddie walked a little closer so Evan could lean on him, neither of them said anything.

Ana glanced down at her cell. Eddie still hadn't contacted her. His parents must have let him know that Christopher should be with them. She couldn't wait until it was just the two of them; eventually, they would start a family of their own.

Helena and Ramon looked at each other. Usually, Eddie would have text or called them by now.
"Maybe he now understands Christopher should be with us," Ramon said
"Perhaps, he would be safer. We'd make sure that he knew what his limits are."

"What are you planning to do as a job?" Eddie asked.
The two men lay on their sides on Evan's bed and looking at each other. They had woken Christopher up, eaten and watched some movies. Evan had contacted his grandparents and then back to bed.
Eddie and Christopher were still hiding. No one knew where they were.
"I do have a qualification. I was going to do that. I decided to travel for a bit and eventually became a firefighter. I'm a qualified physiotherapist."
"Now, that makes sense," Eddie said after a little while.
"Why?"
"Christopher kept saying you were much better than his last physio. I thought it was because of how much he loved you."
"If he'd had a bad day or he needed to do his exercises, I would help. I'd do anything for him."
"Thank you for contacting your grandparents about the lawyer. My parents are not going to be happy when I text and inform them I cannot talk to them until my lawyer gets in contact."
"It's for the best. I can't believe you; Abuela and Pepe are related to them."
"My sisters are wonderful. I can't wait for you to get to know them. Oh, Abuela and Pepe want you to call sometime tomorrow. They've missed you and completely agree with what I am doing with my parents. They're also not going to say anything."
"I've missed them too."
"What is it with you and your sister?" Eddie saw how his face fell. "You don't need to tell me."
"No, it's okay. You've been bluntly honest with me, and I need to tell you. It did end up involving you, as in, I wasn't around."
"Are you sure?"
"I am, it's been years, and I did talk to a professional. I finally accepted it wasn't my fault."
"Okay, if you're sure." Eddie reached over and took Evan's hand.
"There are two things Maddie will do when you talk to her about certain things. She'll always say 'I' had a wonderful one if you ever ask about our childhood. The other is if you ask about her brother, she will pause until Maddie remembers that I exist."
"Wait, what."
"The reason there is quite an age gap between us is because she had a younger brother called Daniel. My parents loved the two of them. They had the 'perfect' family. Unfortunately, he was diagnosed with leukaemia. They needed a bone marrow match, and there wasn't one."
"I'm so sorry, Evan."
"I don't really have a connection with him. You'll understand soon. They decided to have another kid, me. I was a match, but it didn't take, and he died. I was blamed."
"But it wasn't you're fault. You were a kid?"
"That's because you're a caring person. My parents didn't see me as their kid. I was just born to save Daniel, and I failed, and they punished me. When I finally saw my medical records, they started beating me when I was six months old. A month after Daniel died, it got worse. It continued until I was eleven."
Eddie didn't know what to say. "What about Maddie?"
"They raised her to not consider me family. They'd pretend when we went out. That's why she pauses when you ask about a baby brother because she thinks of Daniel. My parents weren't great with money. If their company was in debt, they would get money from either of their parents. They loved having another grandson. So my parents would make sure they would arrange dates to visit so I wouldn't be touched, and if I was bruised, they wouldn't see it."
"That's horrific."
"As I got older, I became more withdrawn. My maternal grandparents wanted to know why. My paternal ones travelled a lot and didn't talk to me as much. They made a surprise visit. My parents had a horrible day and took it out on me, then they picked up Maddie from a friend's after they had a sleepover and then went to the beach for the day."
"How old were you? What about the police, the hospital visits?"
"I was eleven, and where we're from, image is everything. It can be gossiped about behind closed doors, but nothing can be mentioned in public. It would put a black mark on the reputation of the neighbourhood. Then certain members of the police and hospital received sizeable 'donations'."
"I think I'm going to be sick."
"My grandparents turned up and found me. They were livid, and they were so sweet and caring I hadn't seen any of them for a while. I felt so alone. I burst into tears and told them everything. I'd always been told no one would believe me."
"But then did?"
"Yes, they did. There was a nurse who had tried to help, but she'd been threatened. She was looking after her younger sisters. One of them was disabled. She was there when my grandparents came storming in. She managed to talk to them privately and gave my actual file."
"What?"
"Certain people at the hospital had an 'abbreviated' version. But she had copied everything. Then the Captain of the police department found out and he was angry what had been happening. A few officers ended up losing their jobs."
"And then were jailed?" Eddie asked hopefully.
"They're rich, white people who know many judges." He watched as Eddie got angrier and angrier. "Both my grandparents said they had to give up guardianship. They were going to disown them, but it was their choice if they had a payment first, and Maddie would get a small trust fund."
"They sold you."
"My grandparents had to get me out of there somehow. It was also clear apart from Maddie; the next most important thing was money. I think that Maddie was so used to being my parents' whole world, so when Doug did it, I guess it felt normal, and that's how love was to her."
"You still helped her?"
"Of course, no one deserves to get treated like that. But once she was settled here and started dating Chimney. I was then taking attention away from her. Remember, I was in the background for her whole life, and she shined brightly on centre stage. It's why she talked to the lawyer and gave him whatever info she got about the station. I assume she told Bobby and the others I was at fault. No one would believe Mackey without anything 'backing' him up."
"You and your grandparents worked so hard for you to become the kind, loving man you are now."
"It's why I don't like the way people tell Christopher he can't do anything."
"You've given him so much confidence by just talking to and believing in him. You're an amazing man Evan Buckley."
"So are you, Edmundo Diaz." He glanced over at the clock and groaned. It was 4am. "We need to get to sleep."
"Thank you for everything."'
"You're welcome, Eddie."
XXXXX
Athena was looking at the paperwork in front of her and frowned. She'd managed to get Evan Buckley's resignation letter. It was three weeks before the lawsuit. But that didn't make sense. Why would he sue for not being allowed to work? By the time it went anywhere near a court, he'd no longer be a firefighter.
What the hell was going on? Bobby had told her he had seen the evidence. Did he lie? Did someone show him something fake? Athena had to find out what actually happened.

Eddie and Evan woke up and smiled at each other. They could see that it was still early, and Chris could sleep in for a little longer. It seemed like no time had passed.
"Are you okay?" Evan asked as the smile slid off Eddie's face.
"I know Ana will be up. I think it's best if I call her and end things. I don't want to meet up as we don't know how she'll react."
"If you can grab my crutches, I'll start making breakfast. So you can talk to her alone."
"Thank you, I'll get them for you."
It didn't take long for him to get the crutches for Evan and to be alone. He smiled as he heard humming from the kitchen.
He dialled Ana and put it on speaker, and lay across the bed.
"Edmundo, it's good to hear from you, even though it took some time for you to contact me. We need to talk about Evan Buckley and about you staying away from him."
Eddie looked up and smiled as Evan stood in the doorway. He was glad the other man was there.
"After everything, you think I want to date you. Let me make a few things clear. Chris is the number one person in my life. He is not going with my parents. The fact you called and agree with them wanting to take him away. Evan Buckley is the next most important person. You've always wanted him out of my life. That's not going to happen again."
"Edmundo." She snapped.
"Lastly, it's clear you never listen to me. I have told you so many times that I hate being called Edmundo. If you keep harassing us, we'll make a report."
"Wait until your parents hear about this."
Eddie and Evan looked at each other.
"What exactly do you think that is going to do? You are aware I'm an adult."
"Your parents like me, especially for you. This is something you should listen to them about."
"I think it's more important to find someone who me and Chris want." He couldn't drag his eyes from Evan. There was so much between them, but there were still things to sort out. "Someone we trust and who listens to us."
"Bucky," Christopher yelled and hugged Evan as soon as he reached him.
"You're with Evan Buckley." Her voice was bitter. "Is that why you weren't home?"
"What we do and where we go has nothing to do with you anymore. I've warned you once if you continue to harass us, our next stop will be the police." With that, he reached over, grabbed his cell and cut her off.
"Do you think it's over?" Evan asked.
"I hope so, but I don't know."

Ana wouldn't give up. She had to get Evan out of their lives. She moved her hand and knocked her bag, her purse fell onto the ground, and her money spilt out on the floor. She smiled and knew what to do.
The whole money lawsuit was the perfect answer. Who was she going to contact? Ramon and
Helena, Josephina, Isabela and Captain Nash.
She felt so much better. Ana would call them now. They would believe her because of the history Evan Buckley had.

''Thank you, Ana. I'm not sure when we'll speak to him, but I will mention it to him."
"What's going on?" Chim asked Maddie had come to visit, so she was next to him.
"Ana says that Buck is trying to get money from Eddie."
"Whoa, wait, Buck is?" Hen asked.
"It does sound like him," Maddie added.
Hen and Chim glanced at each other. It didn't sound like Buck at all.
Chin glanced at Maddie. She'd been acting weird about Buck since before the lawsuit. She acted like she no longer cared about him. It had been one thing that had drawn him in, how much she had loved her brother.

"Hey, Abuela," Eddie had the phone on speaker once again.
"I'm here too," Josephina added
"Hi, Isabela, Josephina."
"Evan Buckley, it's always Abuela and Pepe to you; otherwise, we will be very angry."
"Sorry, I promise I won't call you by your full names again," Evan laughed.
"What's up?" Eddie asked.
"Ana called us," Abuela answered.
The two men groaned.
"I've just split up with her. I thought we would get a little longer before she caused problems." He sighed.
"I assume it's about me. What have I done this time?" Evan asked, his voice full of amusement.
"She is stating you're trying to get money from Eddie."
Evan and Eddie burst out laughing
"What are we missing?" Pepe asked.
"I'm rich. I always have been. I have trust funds from both pairs of grandparents. I don't need to actually work."
"Oh, you never acted like you were rich?" Abuela asked.
"Growing up with my parents taught me what people were like when all they wanted was money," Eddie took hold of Evan's hand. "It's a long and horrible story. From the age of eleven, I was raised by my maternal grandparents. They're the ones that showed me money doesn't mean you're going to be happy. Apart from the places I lived, I always managed to survive on the money earnt where I worked."
"What does Ana think will happen?" Eddie changed the conversation quickly. He didn't want Buck to go through it again. Not yet. "I know she wants to drive a wedge between Evan and l. But I'm still not going to get back with her."
"Perhaps she thinks the only reason you broke up with her is that Evan wanted you too. So if you no longer trust him..." Pepe muttered.
He was getting a headache. "Thanks for letting us know."
"You have to visit us soon, Evan, tomorrow if you can," Abuela laughed as she hung up.
"She's definitely going to call my parents if she hasn't already. I'd better do that now." Eddie dials their number and waits. Just like the other calls, he had it on speakerphone, so Evan could hear everything.
"Eddie, Ana called us–," Ramon started.
"Just stop. I'm going to explain a few things, and that's it. Firstly Ana and I split up. She's not happy and trying to cause trouble. Secondly, due to things you have said, I can no longer contact you. Everything will go through my lawyer. They should be in touch with you soon."
"What are you talking about?" Helena asked.
"Any questions go through my lawyers when you get their contact details." Eddie smiled as he hung up.
"You look relieved."
"I do. I also feel like a weight has been lifted off me. I always failed to reach my parent's expectations. Now I realise I never could."
"Daddy, Bucky," Christopher had been watching TV, and his show had ended.
"Time to get ready for school." He smiled at his son and then turned to the man that had been a lifesaver. "Can I come back here?" He was glad they had popped into his home and grabbed a few things. They would need more.
"Eddie, you can stay as long as you want. I think Ana will keep appearing at your place."
"True, time to get ready. I don't want him to be late."
The two smiled and went to get ready.

Athena placed her cell on her desk. Ana was accusing Buck of trying to con Eddie. Bobby believed her so and Maddie. Why?
She knew Ana was upset after that incident yesterday. She clearly wanted Buck gone. There was something odd about Maddie. Athena made a note on the file Jacobson made.
She thought back, and even though Buck loved to chat, he never talked about his past. Athena needed to make sure he wasn't in any danger. The more Athena read, the more she felt ill. Buck had been through so much. He was lucky that he survived. Why did Maddie pretend they grew up together with a great childhood? Now she was doing everything she could to make people doubt her brother.
Buck did end up on his feet with grandparents that clearly loved him. He had turned out to be a caring man. He also had money a lot, so Ana clearly lied. What the hell was going on?
Just then, her cell rang. It was Hen. She answered it maybe her friend would have some answers. "Hi."
"Athena, I need to talk to you. Ana said Buck is trying to get money from Eddie. That isn't our Buck. He would never do that."
"No, he wouldn't. Can I ask a few things?"
"Sure. What do you want to know?"
"What evidence did Bobby have against Buck?"
"The lawsuit?"
"Yeah."
"There were witnesses who heard Buck, Taylor Kelly, Ana Flores and Maddie."
Athena knew people could and would lie. These three all had a reason to lie about Buck. He had mentioned to her that he'd turned Taylor down, and she was pissed. Ana wanted Buck out of Eddie's life. She had no idea about Maddie, but something was going on there.
"Bobby told me you all had seen physical evidence."
"What evidence? He didn't show me anything," Hen answered, sounding confused herself.
Athena was angry with herself and Bobby. Why had she just believed him and not look into it herself? Well, she wouldn't make that mistake again. She had to talk to Buck to apologise and find out the missing information that would explain things, hopefully.
"Hen, I need to go and talk to someone. Can you keep this conversation quiet?"
"Of course, you will explain when you can, right?"
"I promise."
"I'll talk to you later, Athena."
"Bye, Hen."
Athena hung up and went over to Officer Jacobson. She was lucky that he was here.
"Officer Jacobson, can I talk to you?"
"Of course you can, Sergeant Grant."
"I know Evan Buckley. I hadn't seen him for a while. Ana Flores contacted my husband, making accusations against him. I've already added it to the file you started."
"Thanks for telling me, so she is causing problems. Here are his contact details and since you know about what Ms Flores is up to. I think it will best coming from you."
"Sure," Athena took hold of the piece of paper. Just like everyone else, she had let him down. She hoped Buck would give her a chance. But would never blame him if he didn't.

"Hello," Buck answered his cell as soon as it rang.
"Buck, it's Athena."
Evan froze; he never expected to hear from her.
"Uh, hello, Athena. How can I help you? I also prefer Evan now."
"Of course, Evan. Ana Flores called Bobby."
"To tell him I'm trying to take money from Eddie."
"Yes, I spoke to Officer Jacobson, and he explained the problem you've had with her. I added this to the file he'd started on her. Is there anything you can tell me?"
"Eddie broke up with her this morning before all of this happened. She also called Eddie's parents, Abuela and Pepe."
"Thank you, I'll add it to the file."
"Bobby believed her, didn't he?"
"Yes, he did; Maddie was there and agreed with him. I didn't, and neither does Hen. She called me confused. What Ana accused you of isn't you."
"Thank you, Athena. It means a lot."
"I uh, I need to talk to you. If after you want me to leave and never talk to me again, will respect that."
"Come and see me tomorrow afternoon. I'll text you. My address is 3pm, okay?"
"It's perfect, and thank you, Evan. I appreciate it."
Evan sighed after Athena hung up.
"Is everything okay?" Eddie asked.
"That was Athena; Ana called Bobby. He believes the story with help from Maddie. Athena and Hen didn't. No idea about Chim. She had talked to that Officer from yesterday. She's coming here tomorrow at 3pm. We'll be finished by the time you and Chris get back."
"Are you doing okay?"
Eddie pulled him into a hug. "I'm here for whatever you need."
"Thank you."
"Oh, after we pick up, Chris Abuela and Tia Pepe want us to join them for an early dinner."
"'Do I have a choice?" Evan laughed.
"Nope, not really."
XXXXX
Abuela stood next to Eddie as they watched Pepe, Christopher, and Evan sitting in chairs and laughing.
"Don't let him go again. When you get a chance, tell him how much you love him."
"We're working on our friendship. I wasn't there when he needed me. I don't want to rush things and end up chasing him away."
"Don't wait too long. He loves you too."
"I hope so. I want to show him that he can trust me, and that's all I am thinking about at the moment?" He had realised that his feelings for Evan weren't platonic. If only he had realised this before everything had happened.
"I have faith in you both," Abuela hugged him and headed out towards the garden.

Isabela looked down at her cell as it rang. It was Ramon. She was glad that Eddie, Evan and Christopher had gone home.
"Yes?"
"Edmundo hired a lawyer and will not talk to us," Ramon shouted. "What is going on?"
"I cannot tell you anything. You will find out when the lawyers contact you." She pulled the cell away from here her ear as Ramon started to yell.
Isabela cut the connection and ignored any more of his calls and text messages. He and Helena were to blame for this. After Eddie had told them everything, she was so angry that they could do it to their son and grandson. Their priority should've been their happiness, which meant Eddie and Christopher were together with Evan.
XXXXX
Evan yawned and turned over. Eddie was asleep in his bed again. There were other spare rooms, but it seemed they both preferred this. They never really spoke about it. They just ended in bed together and fell asleep.
Pepe had promised to check Eddie's home. They had moved quite a lot of his and Chris' stuff here. Carla was also going to come over to visit.
When Eddie went back to work tomorrow, Carla and Chris were going to be here. Eddie was concerned about him. This was one of the reasons why he'd fallen in love with the other man and still loved him today. There was something between them, but there were still things to sort out.
XXXXX
Bobby watched as Athena left. Something was going on; both she and Hen were acting a little weird.
His wife would eventually tell him.
XXXXX
As Eddie and Christopher were about to leave for school and work, Eddie picked up Christopher so Evan could hug him. The two men turned and kissed each other goodbye.
Eddie didn't realise until he was on his way to drop his son off and couldn't wipe the smile off his face.
XXXXX
Buck froze. He'd kissed Eddie goodbye like a couple. But he was kissed back. He smiled; maybe that conversation would be sooner than he thought.

Evan had kept himself busy by dealing with things to do with his physiotherapy business. Just then, there was a knock at the door. Athena was a little early. He grabbed his crutches, made his way over to the door and opened it.
"Evan, are you just going to stand there and not greet your parents."

"What do you want? How did you know where I live?" Evan stared coldly at his parents.
"Maddie called us. She'd spoken to someone called Ana. Our private investigators found you through cameras, and someone called Edmundo Diaz's car," Margaret smiled as she took a step forward.
Evan moved to block his front door with his body. "What do you want?"
"We're having a little money trouble, and it's your fault for making up stories about us being abusive. We were only disciplining you. But because of you and those disgusting lies, our parents disowned us. You need to get them to forgive us or hand over your trust fund," Phillip demanded.
"The evidence proved it was abuse. They paid you a lot of money to hand me over, and Maddie has trust funds. Can't she help you?" He wanted to be surprised by this, but he wasn't. Evan had thought it would've happened a lot earlier.
"Maddie is our daughter. We love her; of course, we wouldn't take money from her. You're a mistake. You were supposed to save Daniel but failed. If people hadn't already seen you, we would've gotten rid of you. But we have our reputations to think about," Margaret shifted and looked over at her husband. "He's not going to agree."
"Very true, my dear. This is Anthony." Phillip moved to the side as a big man walked up the path. "He's going to persuade you to give up your money."
"That's not going to happen." Evan knew his parents didn't care about causing him pain. He was happy they said it where they did because he had a camera with audio at his door. His parents clearly didn't remember the legal contract they signed. If his parents ever contacted him, they would have to pay back every penny they had gotten. If he survived, a restraining order would be next.
"Carry on, Anthony," Margaret looked at Evan with disgust.
Anthony went to punch him, but it was just a distraction, so he didn't feel the hit coming from his father. It was a complete surprise that there was no protection, and Evan ended up on the ground.
"Evan," Eddie called as he ran up the path. "What the hell is going on? Get away from him. He'd come back to talk about the kiss and to make sure they were okay.
"This has nothing to do with you. We're here to talk to our son," Margaret explained.
"You aren't parents. You're monsters."
"I'm making it my concern." Eddie spat out.
"Why on earth would you risk getting hurt for someone as pathetic as him?" Phillip nodded towards his son. Anthony just stood there, waiting. He was being paid a lot as long as he did exactly what he was told.
"He isn't pathetic. Evan is the most amazing man I have ever met, and I love him." Eddie yelled, going slightly red with a mixture of embarrassment and anger.
"Oh dear, I feel sorry for you. You actually love him," Margaret sniffed. "As long as he gives us the money we're owed, you can have whatever is left."
"Stay away from him. I'm calling the police," Eddie grabbed his cell.
"You think the police would care about him? Maddie told us it was easy to twist his so-called family against him. No one cares."
"I care," Eddie growled.
"So do I, and backup is on its way," Athena had her gun out as she stood at the end of the path.
"Officer, we're just here to talk to our son."
"Its sergeant and I've known your son for years. He's an amazing young man. I've also read the police files on your abuse," Athena smirked.
"What files? "Phillip asked
Evan laughed. "You don't think they didn't make a complaint. Because I ended up being moved from your care, they left it. But it was going to be there in case you decided to do this."
Before anyone could move, police cars pulled up. Athena pointed out the people that needed to be arrested.
Eddie rushed to Evan and helped him up and then over to the couch. The two men sat next to each other.
"Evan, I I I."
"You love me?"
"Yes, I do. I wanted to wait and earn your trust and friendship back."
Evan reached out and cupped Eddie's cheek. "I love you too."
"Really?"
"Yes, this is something we need to talk about. We both deserve to be happy, and it looks like that means together," Evan moved and kissed him softly.
"I hate to break this up. You both deserve to be together and, I'm happy for you. I'm going to need you to make a statement," Athena smiled at them. She was also livid with her husband.
"Thank you, Athena. We'll be happy to give a statement. I also have a camera with audio at my door. Everything was recorded. I'll make sure you get a copy," Evan winced as he smiled.

Ana frowned at her cell. Edmundo was now ignoring her. So were Isabela and Josephina. After chatting to Ramon and Helena, no one now talked to them because Edmundo had a lawyer. Why would he do something like that? Once they spoke in person, everything would go back to normal, and their relationship would move forward. She would sort out this legal thing, and his parents would be so grateful to her.
"Christopher," Ana suddenly thought of him. If she'd won him over, things would be different. It was time for the two of them to spend time together.
XXXX
"How dare he?" Maddie shouted as she put her cell down.
"What is it?" Chm took hold of her hand.
"My brother has had my parents arrested."
"Why?" Hen asked.
"He's jealous and wants me to pay for always being the centre of attention instead of him."
"I'll call Athena; maybe she can help them out. How could he do this?"
"I can guarantee your wife will not help them," Athena answered as she walked up the stairs.
"Why not if Buck is causing problems, we should help Maddie," Bobby looked at her, confused by her attitude.
Athena had talked to Evan. He'd given her permission to explain his life story briefly.
"Evan isn't the one causing problems, is he Maddie? You were only raised together until he was eleven. Your parents beat the crap out of him, and they were quite happy to sell him to your grandparents. They're only here because you called them to get money from him."
"Athena…" Bobby started.
"You be quiet. You lied to me. Buck didn't get involved in any lawsuit. After all, he'd already handed in his resignation because he needed surgery. You could've seen the letter all dated and stamped before Mackey caused trouble. The three witnesses are Taylor Kelly, who Evan had turned down, Ana Flores, who wanted him out of Eddie's life and Maddie Buckley, who hates her brother. They were also seen talking to Mackey for long periods."
"Maddie?" Chum asked.
"It's not true," Maddie argued.
"So, what about Evan trying to get money from Eddie?" Athena asked.
"Yes, you have to do something about that," Bobby noted the way things were going.
"Did you miss the part where the Buckley's are after money? Evan has money. He never needed to work if he didn't want to. So the lawsuit, once again, doesn't make sense and who also agreed that he was after money? That's right, Maddie, and she knows he doesn't need it. Bobby, you'd better find somewhere else to stay. You'd better have a damn good reason for treating Evan the way you have and for lying to me." With that, Athena turned land headed back down the stairs at the 118.
"Chim?" Maddie begged. "I was trying to protect you all. Being around Evan is dangerous. Look, my parents, they've been arrested."
Hen looked between the two men. "You can't be considering this. She's been lying to us all? The only person we want to forgive us is Buck," Hen turned and walked away. Why had she followed the others? Eddie hadn't, and he'd left the 118. Hen was going to ask for his forgiveness, but it was her own fault if he refused.

"Look, it's Miss Flores," Michael called out.
Christopher turned, and as soon as she saw him, she smiled.
"Mr Parkson?" Christopher rushed as quickly as he could to his teacher. "Miss Flores, if she's here for me, I'm not allowed to go with her."
"Why not?" He asked
"My dad was dating her, and he broke up with Miss Flores. She's been causing trouble, and I'm scared if I go, she will take me away from my dad."
Mr Parkson looked down at his student, and he did look terrified. The classroom door opened a new member of the office smiled at the attractive woman at his side.
"Miss Flores is here for Christopher?" Trevor explained.
Mr Parkson stood in front of Christopher. "No, Ms Flores doesn't have permission to take my student." He had no doubt that Mr Diaz would've done this. He always made sure that his son was safe.
"But she used to work here," Trevor argued.
"It doesn't matter. If she doesn't have permission, she can't take him."
"Give him to me. His father is waiting for us," Ana tried.
''What's going on here?" Principal Ryan asked as she arrived.
"Principal Ryan, I'm here to take Christopher, and this teacher won't let me," Ana smiled sweetly at her.
"Mr Parkson?"
"She doesn't have permission, and Christopher told me his father has split up with Ms Flores, and he's scared she's here to kidnap him."
"That's ridiculous," Ana looked at everyone in disbelief. Well, she hoped it was.
"My number one concern is Christopher. I won't release him until his father is here." Mr Parkson had been getting a weird feeling about her.
Principal Ryan smiled at him. No matter what, she was glad to know he would protect his students.
"Very well, we'll call him." The principal agreed.
"No, you don't need to do that," Ana whispered quickly.
It was clear she wasn't here with permission.
"I think you'd better wait, Ms Flores. We will be telling Mr Diaz, and depending on what he says, we might be calling the police."

Evan and Eddie lay next to each other on the bed, fully clothed. They had just chatted and kept kissing.
Eddie groaned as his cell rang. "Yes?" He said as soon as he answered. "What? I'm on my way and call the police."
"Eddie"
"We need to call Athena. Ana tried to take Christopher out of school."

Eddie and Evan walked into the principal's office.
"Dad, Bucky," Christopher shouted and ran over to them. His crutches made a noise as they hit the ground as he made his way over to them. "I told Mr Parkson she couldn't take me, and he refused to let me go." He smiled over at his teacher.
"Thank you, Mr Parkson," Eddie was very grateful to him.
"You're welcome, Mr Diaz. I'd rather be overprotective and be wrong. I would never forgive myself if something happened, and I could've stopped it," Mr Parkston looked at Christopher and was so glad that he had stepped in.
"You're an honourable man, and the school is lucky to have you," Eddie knew he was a brilliant teacher too. He wasn't going to say anything to embarrass his son.
"Officer Jacobson," Evan nodded at him. "Thank you for starting that file. I never expected it to be needed."
"What file?" Ana asked.
"You're welcome, Mr Buckley. I had a feeling it wasn't over. I must admit I never expected a kidnapping either."
"I didn't try to kidnap Christopher. I was picking him up for Edmundo." She argued.
"How did she make it to the classroom?" Eddie asked.
"We had a temporary worker who no longer works for us. It seemed she smiled and flirted and then mentioned that she was a former teacher here. He never even looked at the list."
Ana stamped her foot. "I wasn't kidnapping him. I was picking him up for Edmundo, and then we could talk."
Evan could see that Eddie's anger was breaking through his calm exterior. He placed his crutch against the wall and then reached out and took his hand.
"Thank you." He smiled as he looked at the man he loved. His touch had helped him control his temper. Letting it go wouldn't be a good thing, even though he had every right.
"Edmundo." She snapped when the two men held hands.
"It's Mr Diaz, Ms Flores. You and I are no longer dating. I've told you this. You talked to my parents." He wasn't going to tell her why as Christopher was here. "You spoke to the rest of my family and my ex-captain trying to drive Evan away. Now, you tried to kidnap my son. You know I wouldn't be surprised if you talked to my parents about this."
Officer Jacobson watched at the changes in her face and the way she gripped her purse more tightly. Ms Flores had talked to them about taking Christopher. But what was the discussion about?
"Edmundo, I love you. We'd be so happy together," Ana begged.
"Ms Flores, I'm arresting you for the attempting kidnapping of Christopher Diaz."
Evan looked down at Christopher and ruffled his hair, and smiled as Christopher grinned. He could hear the murmurs of Office Jacobson reading Ana her rights. They were so lucky that Mr Parkston cared so much about his students. He was right. Any parent or guardian would rather be called in and say he was wrong. They were so close to losing him.
"Edmundo, you have to help me. I was trying to help you," Ana begged. She was led out of the office.
Eddie felt he could breathe more easily once the door was closed behind her. He knew it wasn't over, and if his parents were involved, Eddie would never forgive them. The rest of his family were going to be horrified too.
"I'm sorry that this happened, Mr Diaz." Principal Ryan was disgusted that someone in this school would let a child go because of a pretty face. It was definitely time to run some more courses on this. She was also going to make sure the next person they hired had experience. She didn't want them to go through this again.
"Thank you, I never thought that she would do something like this. But we were lucky that Mr Parkson wouldn't let Christopher go. After the fact, you handled it very well, Principal Ryan." Eddie was glad that they had fired the person who had been involved.
"Well, we'd better go unless there was anything else?" Evan asked.
"No, Mr Buckley, we don't need anything else." Principal Ryan remembered him. Every time he picked up Christopher, he was so excited to see Buck." She wished there was more that she could say or do. "If there are any problems during the night, we'll understand it. You need to keep him home. We do have a school counsellor if that would help?"
"Thank you, Principal Ryan. We'll play it by ear." Eddie smiled, and then the three of them walked out of the door.
When it closed, she turned and looked at the teacher, who was the only person left in the room.
"You did a good job, Simon."
"As soon as he heard her, Christopher came rushing to me. The longer she spoke, the more terrified he looked. I could feel that this was wrong. I couldn't let him go." Simon sighed. He'd never had anything like this happen to him before.
"Go home, relax. If you need a day, just call in, and if you need to talk to someone, we can arrange it." She wanted to make sure that Simon knew that there was help if he needed it.
"Thank you, I'll let you know."

Officer Jacobson shook his head as he read the messages on Ana's Flores' phone. It seemed that she had arranged for Ramon and Helena Diaz to have Christopher. Kidnapping was never mentioned, and at times it seemed they thought their son was handing him over. Were they trying to delude themselves? Why would the ex-girlfriend do that? He hated this. Telling Mr Diaz that his parents were quite happy taking his son from him, his job sucked some days.
"Officer Jacobson, Simon? Are you alright?" Athena asked him.
"Not really, Sergeant Grant."
"It's Athena." She sat in a chair next to him. "Can I help?"
"Ana Flores tried to kidnap Christopher Diaz with the evidence you and I gathered. I'm surprised she hadn't done anything sooner."
"How are they?"
"Okay, worried, shocked. I now have to tell them that she had arranged with Mr Diaz's parents to take his son. They've been through so much."
"I need to call Evan. Do you want me to tell Eddie? They're going to be together."
"I would appreciate it. I need to call Mr and Mrs Diaz and see what they say."

Christopher was in his room doing homework. It was for Mr Parkson's class and wanted to do it now.
Eddie was going to wait and see how Christopher was. He hated the fact that he'd been through so much already. They closed the door, but not all the way, so he had privacy, but they still could hear him if he needed anything.
The two men sat on the couch.
"I can't believe she did that. I'm so glad we were both here, and Ana had no idea."
"I'm glad you're here too. This place will always be home for you and Christopher. I've also made sure it has great security."
Eddie turned and smiled at him. "Be careful. We might never leave."
"I don't have a problem with that." As they leaned towards each other and kissed, Evan couldn't believe that was happening, and then his cell went off.
Eddie's head dropped onto Evan's shoulder as he groaned. "Really?"
"I know, hi Athena," he said as he asked it answered it. "Yeah, he is. I'll put you or speaker." He pressed the button so they can both could hear it.
"I heard what happened today. I'm so glad that Christopher is safe. I needed to call Evan, so I offered to update you as well, Eddie."
"Thanks, Athena, we appreciate it," Eddie couldn't wait for this day to be over.
"We appreciate the video and audio evidence. We arrested your father; he'll probably get away with a warning for this."
"What? "Eddie yelled.
"Yeah, I know, but with what you're parents said and their past with you. We also found lots of text messages between your parents and Maddie. We have enough to get a restraining order."
"Thanks, I'm not sure that will stop them, but at least it's going to be on file. I also called my grandparents, and they can start going through the legal process of my parents breaking the contract they signed."
"It's going to make them angrier, isn't it?" Eddie asked.
"Probably, but if I don't do anything, they'll think they can get away with anything," Evan knew it was a no-win situation.
"I wish I could do more, Evan. Eddie, Officer Jacobson went through Ana's cell. She'd be in contact with your parents. She was saying you'd asked her to do that. Do you think they would believe it?"
Eddie couldn't believe his parents, no actually, he could. They always thought they knew better.
"Deep down, no. I told them Ana, and I had split up. I also told them I was getting a lawyer, so any communication would go through them. The more I think about it, there's no way that they could think I would hand Christopher over."
"Could you send me the text messages?" She asked.
"It was mostly by phone call. I can send you the dates and times. I know Abuela told them she couldn't speak to them because of the lawyer."
"Text me the times. We'll get a statement from you and your grandmother. The three of you've been through a lot, but I'm glad you found each other again."
"So are we." Evan beamed at Eddie.
"Maddie was trying to cause problems about you having her parents arrested. You were supposedly jealous of her."
"Seriously, why can't they just leave me alone?" Evan wished he had enough balance to box, but he couldn't at the moment.
"Bobby believed her. I asked him to find somewhere to stay. Before you say anything, it's not your fault. This is not the man I married. I'm not sure about Chim, but Hen's 100% on your side," Athena knew this was going to be hard on him.
"I'm not sure how to feel? The 118 as it is, isn't going to survive, is it?"
"Evan, they turned on you. This is on them for not checking facts and believing Ana's, Taylor's and especially Maddie. Take it easy tonight. I will call you tomorrow to arrange a time to take your statements."
"Thanks, Athena, goodbye." They both spoke at the same time.
"Well, what a day." Eddie sat back and closed his eyes.
"Yeah."
"Dad, I need your help," Christopher yelled.
"Duty calls."
"I'm going to phone my grandparents about both of our situations."

Athena arrived home. It had been a long day. She hoped Bobby would leave with no problems. Just then, the door opened, and he walked in.
"When you leave, please hand over the keys to this house."
"'Athena, we need to talk about this. You need to understand–"
"If you're about to start on how Maddie's right, you can stop there. I read how the Buckley's abused Evan, and they sold him. Evan still helped his sister when Maddie needed it. What did she do? She lied and turned you all against him. I saw the video of Mr Buckley hitting his son. Yet somehow, with all the evidence, you still believe her."
"What?" May asked as she walked out of her bedroom.

A/N 'Mount May is about to erupt.' This was mentioned in a comment by AresDesciple. I loved it and asked to use it. They gave me permission.

"Look, May, you don't understand what's going on. What Buck's been up to?" Bobby held out his hands to try to placate her.
Athena winced. She knew her daughter and Mount May was about to erupt. But she wasn't getting involved, not yet anyway.
"Buck, Buck's been up to things. He's the guy that would do anything to help anyone. You trusted people who wanted to see him hurt," May yelled as she walked closer. "You believed in them without giving someone you knew better a chance to explain."
"Chim and Maddie, they're–."
"Oh yes, let's talk about Chim and the horrible jokes he makes about Buck. If you say Maddie would know him better, I'm going to hit you. You not believing mom is disgusting. So either you don't believe in her, or you just hate Buck that much."
"You're young, and you don't understand. The Buckley's…" Bobby looked over at Athena.
"Yes, the Buckley's?" Her arms crossed over her chest, and she glared at her husband.
"Nothing."
"Nothing, so the facts are they abused Buck means nothing." She held up her hand to stop him from talking. "Actually, I don't want to hear from you, especially after that condescending tone you used on May. Don't think I've forgotten you never answered her question. Pack up a suitcase, and leave the house. When you find somewhere to live, I'll send the rest of your stuff."
"Athena, you can't mean this." His eyes were wide with disbelief.
"I don't want to be with a man who believes abusers, who would hurt their son and tried to hurt him to get money from him. No matter what happens, I will never forgive that."
"Neither will I," May walked over to her mother and took hold of her hand. "I thought you were a good guy, but you're not."

Karen looked over at her wife. Something had clearly happened.
"Hen?"
"I've made a huge mistake. I betrayed a friend with no actual evidence. It's now come to light that the witnesses had lied." Hen buried her head in her hands.
"Who did you betray?"
"Buck." She whispered.
"What exactly happened?" Karen hoped it wasn't as bad as it seemed.
Hen looked up. She knew Karen would be so angry with her.

Helena and Ramon smiled as the lawyer sat with them.
"So I understand you want to get full custody of your grandson because you believe where he lives now is dangerous."
"Yes, and the company our son keeps," Ramon added. They hadn't heard from Ana, so they needed to start with the legal route.
Just then, the door opened and in walked their two daughters.
"These are our daughters Adriana and Sophia," Helena smiles.
"It's nice to meet you. I'm Mr Sawyer. I'm your parent's lawyer. Thank you for being here, if you'll just write down your statements. We'll get it typed up, and then you can both sign them."
The two sisters look at each other.
"What statement?" Adriana asked.
"If you'll wait a moment and let us speak to them," Helena stood to take them into the next room.
"Uh, no, and what Statement?" Sophia repeated.
"The statement that your brother is an unfit parent to his son and Mr and Mrs Diaz would be better guardians."
Adriana and Sophia turned to their parents and glared at them.
"You're disgusting. You weren't great parents to the three kids you had. The last thing anyone should do is give you another one. Eddie is a fantastic father. Christopher is happy and healthy." Sophia spat out. "That's it; you've finally pushed things too far. I want nothing to do with either of you."
"What she said. You two trying to get hold of Christopher to control him, and you've now lost all of your children. As soon as Abuela and Tia Pepe hear, they are never going to want to talk to you again either," Adriana runs out to catch up with her sister.
"Mr and Mrs Diaz, do you have any actual evidence to support your claims? Do you have any family members that will support your claim?" Mr Sawyer asked.
"Not on us, and we'll talk to our family. But let's carry on–." Ramon answered.
"I think you should get those things together first. Please contact me as soon as you do."
Helena and Ramon watched as the lawyer left and grabbed his cell. He typed in a message to Ana. She would be a lovely daughter-in-law. She was the one who had come up with taking Christopher without Eddie's permission. They were his grandparents and knew what was best.

"Athena, this just came through on Ana's phone," Simon handed over the transcript.
As Athena read, it confirmed the kidnapping, but it had been Ana's idea. It also mentioned they'd been in contact via email.
"Do we have these emails?" Athena couldn't believe it. Poor Evan and Eddie both had awful parents. The Buckley's were still number one among the people she hates most.
"Forensics is checking her phone. I'm in contact with the El Paso police as soon as I let them know they'll be arrested. We're just waiting on those emails. We'll wait until we have everything before we tell Mr Diaz that school did the right thing."

"Hi Athena," Buck said as soon as he answered, "Karen's found out, Hen told her. Actually, I would like to talk to her. Give her my phone number and address. Hen wants... okay; I can hear what she has to say. Tell Karen that she can come too. Yeah, I'll talk to them at the same time. How are you doing? Wait, you kicked Bobby out? Are you... yes, you're fine. I adore May. I'll have to meet up with her. She can have my number too. My contact details are definitely getting out there. I'll talk to you soon
XXXXX
Hen stood up as soon as Karen walked in.
"I still can't believe you did this to Buck. What are you going to do if Chim still believes Maddie and Bobby?"
"As much as it will hurt, I'll want nothing to do with him. If they stay at the 118, I don't think I can. I wish I could tell Buck how sorry I truly am."
"Well, Athena says he goes by Evan now, and he wants to talk to me. He's also willing to listen to what you have to say. This is going to be your only chance." Just then, Karen's cell beeped. She smiled as she read the message." It looks like Evan wants to meet us at a coffee shop. He just needs to know your shifts so he can work that around those."
"That's great, I'll tell confirm them with you," Hen knew she had to do her best to apologise, but there wasn't any excuse. She believed in those people who told her, and she had never even asked Evan. It was so upsetting that Bobby and Maddie lied. Chim, he agrees to anything his girlfriend says. Was this going to be the end of their friendship? If Chim didn't start seeing what was going on, there was no way they would be able to carry on as they were.
"Hen?" Karen watched as Hen seemed to be frozen.
"Sorry, I was wondering if Eddie knows any other stations that need a paramedic. I can't stay there if Bobby does. I can't trust him anymore. It's still going to be difficult going into work as it is."
"You can ask. We'll work it out."
"I'm sorry. I know I let you down too."
"Yes, you did Hen, but I love you, and I know you wouldn't do this intentionally. Now you're trying to rectify that mistake. Whether or not you're forgiven is up to Evan. But I'm here." Karen hugged her.
Hen knew if she had carried on like Chim, there would've been problems in their marriage. She just hoped Buck…Evan would forgive her.

Eddie smiled as he brushed a hand through Evan's hair as the man he love's head was on his chest. Neither of them mentioned Eddie and Christopher leaving. At some point, they would need to discuss it
"I didn't mention this earlier because Christopher was with us. My sister called. It seems my parents invited them around."
"I assume it wasn't just to see them?"
"Nope."
"So why?" Evan mumbled.
"My parents had a lawyer. They wanted statements from Adriana and Sophia stating I'm a terrible father and they would be better guardians."
"I assume it didn't go the way your parents wanted?"
"Well, they yelled at them and said they want nothing to do with them ever again. Sophia's moving here because of a promotion. Adriana now also wants to move here."
"Adriana worked as an office manager, right?"
"Yes, why?"
"Well, I need a receptionist and an office manager for my business. I would like her to know a little about physiotherapy. I'd like her to go on a couple of courses if she's interested. I'm willing to get a temp in if everything's not in place. There are still at least a couple of months of building and decorating that still needs to be done. I also have to try out another prosthetic. Hopefully, this one will work better for me."
"I'll ask her, thank you."
"If she's not interested, she can just say no," Evan moved and rested his head next to Eddie's. "I never thought I could have this."
"Neither did I. I'm glad we were given this chance."
They started to kiss softly. They were taking things slow. There was so much going on all around them. Now wasn't the time for either of them to rush. The comfort they gave each other now was helping them so much.
"Oh, there's something I need to ask," Evan muttered against Eddie's lips
He pulled away, a smile on his face. "What's that?"
"Athena told me Karen wanted to talk to me. There is something I want to discuss with her too. Anyway, Karen sent a text asking if Hen could talk to me and apologise. I agreed. She also asked if you knew if any station needed a paramedic. Karen says Hen can't stay at the 118 because of Bobby, and if Chim doesn't get his head out of his ass, their friendship is over."
"Do you believe her?"
"I'm willing to listen. I'll let you know after we talk."
"Well, we need one. I'll speak to my captain, but explain it depends on what happens with you. If not, I'll help her look for other stations. At least once she listened to Athena, Hen took notice."
"Ahh yes, Athena kicked Bobby out, and May had a go at him. He's still blaming me. I honestly don't know why:"
"How are they doing?"
"Well, Athena says she's doing 'fine'. May keeps sending memes to either say she loves me or funny ones to make me laugh."
"Your support system is growing. Chris and I are never going to leave you alone again."
"Thank you. I'm also here for anything you need. You and Christopher mean everything to me. My grandparents can't wait to meet you."
"I look forward to meeting them. Hopefully, they can give me tips on how to help a child grow up to be an exceptionally kind and loving man."
"I'm nothing–."
Eddie placed her finger against Evan's lips ''Shush, you are. Nothing you say is going to change that."
"I'm so thankful we got to this point."
"Me too." He groaned as he looked over at the clock. "I really need to get some sleep."
"So do I, so do I," Evan cuddled into Eddie and closed his eyes.

Phillip and Margaret Buckley glared at their daughter.
"You pushed things too far."
"No, dad, I didn't?" Maddie needed them to know it was her brother's fault. It always was.
"Really, so how many people believe you?" Margaret asked.
"Well, Chim, of course, and Bobby." Everyone else seemed to doubt her.
"So just two? We wanted to make Evan feel so alone that he would be at his lowest point. So when we arrived, he would be happy to have anyone. Then we could build that relationship as disgusting as it would be for us. Eventually, we'd end up with the money, a lot of it so we could live the life we deserve" Phillip walked to the hotel window and stared out.
"I don t understand why Evan has money. He rarely uses it. He never shows people that he's wealthy. It's such a waste," Margaret pouted. They could do so much with all it.
"Madeline, you must keep Chim and Bobby on your side. I'm glad I thought ahead and sent him all those fake reports. You need to play the victim more. Cry a little. Perhaps you could imply that Evan was why you ran to Doug and why you stayed there. You could say some of the beatings were because your brother ignored your wishes, and Doug took it out on you."
"Yes, dad," Maddie felt sick at the very thought of her husband. It was Evan's fault. If he'd stayed with them, they would've had money, and she wouldn't have gone and married Doug, probably.
"Do not mess this up," Phillip ordered and smiled as his daughter nodded

Evan walked past Taylor Kelly. He could see her look at him and quickly glance away.
"Do your colleagues know how vindictive you are? I said no because I didn't want you. But you had created this lie about me, how obsessed I was with you. It wasn't my fault you treated them like crap and repaid you after I said no."
Taylor turned to him. "They see what I want them to. They're nothing. I'll use whatever I can to get ahead. I've lied so many times, and they never knew. Take this cameraman; he'll do until I get a better one. If I have to have him fired to get better, I will." She smirked as she walked away.
Evan frowned as the cameraman came closer. It looked like he'd still been filming.
"Hi, I'm Sam. I didn't know how awful she really was."
"Hi, I'm Evan. Wait, how do you know?"
"It seems Ms Kelly forgot about something." He grinned.
"And can I ask what that is?"
"She's wearing a clip-on microphone. We're testing it out. I recorded at all. It will be such a shame when this is accidentally shown to everyone. After all, I'm clearly not good enough, and I just made a mistake, being new and all."
"I hope you end up working with someone decent."
"So do I."
"Sam," Taylor yelled.
"Coming, Ms Kelly." He handed Evan a business card. "Text me, and I can tell you what happened. I'll try and record it."
"Well, it would cheer me up." It seemed like those who had lied about him weren't being quite so lucky. Karma really was a bitch, and it couldn't happen to nicer people.

Bobby sat and went through the reports and information that had been sent to him. This person was worried about him and didn't want Buck to cause problems for the 118.
He'd already been warned when Buck started to keep him under control. His own history wasn't perfect, and now because of Evan Buckley, everything was going wrong. Athena had left him. This was tempting him to drink.
"No," Bobby yelled as he hurled an empty glass at the wall and watched it shatter.
At least Maddie and Chim were on his side.

Chapter Text
"Evan, I…"
"We need to talk. I don't know how it's going to end. Let me discuss some things with Karen first, if that is okay?"
"Of course," Hen smiled and sat down. She was just happy that he would talk to her.
Once both women had sat down, a waiter came over and they ordered their drinks.
"So why did you want to talk to me?" Karen didn't know why.
"Well," Evan laughed. "I was chatting with my grandparents. They're the ones that raised me. They have their own business. I'm unsure of all the details as she didn't give me any, but they are expanding and need a consultant. When I asked what kind of consultant, they laughed and said a rocket scientist."
"Really?" Karen leant forward.
"Really? And I told them I knew a rocket scientist," He grinned. "I've always wanted to say that. I told them all about you. How trustworthy, clearly smart, honest, and caring. But you would always stand up if something seemed wrong. I just told my grandmother that your wife was a first responder, you were at home raising your son, and your time was limited. I also clarified that it had to be from home with minimal travel, but it had to be in advance if needed. Was that okay that I told her that?"
"Yes, of course, it was Evan. I appreciate you letting your grandparents know what is going on with me."
"Well, here you go." He slid an envelope across to her.
"What's this?" Karen asked as she took hold of it.
"It's information about the company, a rough draft of a contract, NDA's, and it has my grandmother's contact details. Her name is Victoria Abbott, and the company is Westland."
"Westland? That's your grandparents' company?" Karen stared at the envelope. "I'll, uh, look at it at home."
Hen laughed. "You are so desperate to look at it now."
"I am, but I will research it and contact Mrs Abbott as soon as I do. Thank you for thinking of me. Are you involved in the company?"
"No, I'm not. I mean, I could be. I know it very well. It was important to my grandparents to ensure I understood I knew what it was like to earn money. I started in the mailroom. I was a gopher in different departments."
"What are you doing now? If you don't mind me asking?" Hen didn't realise how little she knew about him. He seemed so open, but looking back, he didn't really get into his family situation.
"I've gone back to what I went to school for, and after the bombing, it seemed more important. I am a trained and licensed physiotherapist. I'm setting up my business. There are things I need to do first before it can finally open. I need to get a prosthetic that works for me. Some building work still needs to be done, and I have to hire some staff.
"I didn't know you were a trained physiotherapist? Bobby said you dropped out," Hen asked.
Evan sighed. "That was a joke I made after dropping out of the SEALS conversation we had. Before I could say it was a joke, he agreed and said it sounded like me. He clearly ignored my education section. Bobby then told everyone, and no matter what I said, no one believed me. Everyone thought I was lying and trying to look smarter. Even though you knew me longer, everyone believed Maddie. I mean, why wouldn't you? You let Chim get away with his jokes even when I told you I didn't find them funny. You would've said something if it had been anyone else but him. Then again, it could be that it was just aimed at me, which made it acceptable."
"No, Buck–.''
"Evan," Karen corrected her.
Hen took a deep breath. "You're right. I let Chin get away with a lot, too much. I'd heard what he'd been through. He was there for me when we had that bigot as a captain. Because we'd both been through so many things, l didn't want to think he'd be so cruel. I can't believe I let him treat you or anyone like he did. I trusted Bobby and followed his lead. He did treat you differently, and we never said anything. I have much to make up for, even if you want nothing to do with me." Hen shook her head. "I'll never make up for what I did. I'm sorry, Evan." She then cried and stared at the table. Hen looked up as a larger hand covered hers. She stared into Evan's bright blue eyes.
"I'd like to try and work through this. Athena told me that when Ana started more lies, you didn't believe it. You didn't believe I would do anything that you were told."
"I should've never believed the lawsuit on faith. I should've stood by Eddie when he tried to get everyone to shut up about how they were talking about you."
"As you said, you trusted Bobby. We were in a profession where you needed to rely on your co-workers with your life. It leads you to trust them on other things."
"But that meant I should've trusted you and at least talked to you," Hen turned her hand over and gripped Evan's. "Thank you for giving me a chance. I'll do everything I can to prove you can trust me again."
"I believe you," Evan smiled at her
"Okay, you needed to stand in so I can hug you," Karen ordered and wrapped her arms around him as soon as he stood. "Mostly, thank you for giving Hen a chance. She was devastated by the horrible mistakes she made with you, and I can't believe you thought of me with everything going on." She tapped the envelope. "It sounds like it could be perfect for me."
"Hey, me knowing a rocket scientist is not the norm for me. I love saying I know one. I think you're perfect for the job and will work well with my grandmother."
"I look forward to talking to her." They both sat down and started to chat, drink and laugh.
Hen was so glad that she'd been given a second chance. It was one that she wasn't going to waste. There had to be a change. She couldn't allow the whole thing with Chin to happen again. Being at the 118 wasn't the best place for her now.
"Could you ask Eddie to see as he knows any station that wants a paramedic?"
"So you're going to leave?"
"I know I betrayed you, but I can't stay there. Bobby and Chin still believe the stories. If they turned on you and they could do that to anyone. They know I believe you now. I can't see us working together anymore. I also think I need to start somewhere new. I know I'll need to earn their trust, whoever it is. It will be harder because of everything that happened. This will be good for me."
"I'll call Eddie."
XXXXX
"Cap," Eddie ran over to him.
"What is it, Eddie?"
"Evan's talked to Hen Wilson. They're working on their friendship. The 'new' rumours about him she never believed. She knows she has to turn to earn his trust. Hen wants to leave the 118. She knows it will be difficult and has to earn trust with whoever she works with."
"You think that she'll fit in here?" Alistair asked.
"I do. She trusted her best friend and her captain. It was never malicious. As soon as she realised, Hen tried to make it right and admitted her mistakes."
"Okay, get her to put through a transfer. Even if she doesn't fit here and earns our trust, we will ensure we'll help her."
"Thanks, Ali."
"You're going to make up your mind and stick to either cap or Ali," He walked away laughing.
Eddie pulled out his cell and started to type.

Evan looked at his cell and smiled. "Hen, Eddie said the 216 will have you. So get a transfer paper signed and given to Bobby. Take a photo and send it to Eddie. His captain will start the process on his side once he sees the image of the completed form."
"I'm going to give you a huge hug when we leave. I'm doing my best not to burst into tears. But as soon as I hug you, wait, can I hug you." She waits until he nods. "Well, after, I will be crying."
"Maybe we can set up some play dates with Christopher and Denny?" Buck offered.
"Denny would love that. We'll explain to him what went on," Karen knew they had to be honest with their son. So he knew that you owned up to it when you made a mistake.

Eddie turned over and rested his head on Buck's chest.
"You okay?" Buck asked.
"Yeah, Athena called me earlier to go over the kidnapping thing. I can't believe Ana and my parents would do this."
"The main thing is we know, and then they'll be arrested."
"I can't imagine what would've happened if you hadn't come back into my life. I…."
Buck held him tightly. "I'm here, and I'm not going anywhere. I love you and Christopher. We're a family."
"I love you too. I'm glad you forgave me," Eddie wiped his eyes. "I called Louise and told her to hold off on legal actions towards my parents because of the kidnapping plot. I didn't want them to receive legal documents and get spooked."
"Good idea. Once they are arrested for attempted planning a kidnapping, the restraining order would be easier."
"Oh, Adriana wants to come and visit. She loves the job idea, but she wants to ensure that the two of you will get on. After all, you will spend a lot of time together."
"That's smart; I look forward to meeting her. When is she coming?"
"Tomorrow."
"She can stay here. There's a spare bedroom."
"Are you–."
'Yes, I'm sure."
"Thank you."
"I have decisions to make, and it will be good for Adriana to see the kind of thing I want. I also want someone to make suggestions and not be afraid to stand up to me if it's needed."
"I have a feeling it will all work out."
"So do I."
The two men settled down to sleep.

Christopher curled up next to Buck as they watched a film. They both had woken up early.
"I'm glad you're back, Bucky. I love you."
"I love you too, Christopher. I was always going to come back and see you. I just had a lot going on."
Eddie just stood in the doorway and smiled. This is what his family felt like. It had taken a lot to get here, but it finally happened. He could never thank Evan enough for letting him back in his life.

Hen had the transfer paperwork in her pocket. She was sad about leaving the 118, but there was no way she could stay here.
"I can't believe my brother is still here. No one wants him around. He's pathetic. The way he treated my parents and me. It's disgusting. He should pay."
Hen typed a message to Eddie and Buck saying Maddie was here and starting again. She was afraid to give her transfer paperwork alone. It made her realise even more how hard things had been for Evan. There was no doubt Maddie would turn on her. She got a reply saying they both would come to her as it was near the end of her shift.
"Hen, are you okay?" Bobby asked.
"I'm fine."
"You must be angry at how Buck treated Chim–" Maddie started to talk.
"Will you shut up? Are you that delusional that you think I believe you? Evan did nothing wrong. I know I made a mistake. You're cruel and nasty. Honestly, why would anyone like someone as selfish as you?"
"Hen, you don't–."
"Chim, you're biased because your sleeping with her."
"I don't think you should talk about her like that," Bobby interrupted them.
Hen turned to look at Bobby in disbelief. "You hypocrite, you let Chim make jokes about Evan that weren't funny. You'd let Maddie rip into him and say nothing. Now you step in to protect her. She's an abusive liar."
"Hen, if you want to work here –."
"I don't. Here are my transfer papers," Hen reached into her pocket and handed them to him. "Do you honestly think I could work here when you lied? Chim's thinking with the wrong head. I can't trust you."
"Looks like we arrived in time," Evan called out.
Hen turned, rushed over and hugged him. "I'm so sorry, I...thank you for being here." She cried into his shirt.
"I know you are."
Eddie moved beside him and joined the hug.
"How could I have listened to them? Everything they're saying is so cruel. I…."
"You apologised. Maybe you, Karen and Denny could come around for dinner?" Evan offered.
"What are you two doing here?" Bobby glared at them.
"Hen needed us, and we just wanted to make sure there weren't any problems after she handed in her transfer papers." Eddie smiled.
"We don't need her. The 118 is a family, and teamwork is important," Bobby shook his head in disappointment.
"You clearly don't understand what those terms mean. You're like a clique full of mean girls." Evan couldn't believe it. He felt a hand on his waist and smiled as Athena walked around him.
Chin stared at his best friend. She'd always been at his side. If Hen had just listened and trusted Maddie, none of this would've happened.
"Athena, why are you sticking up for him? You hated him. He's come back here and destroys everything he touches. Those who support Evan Buckley deserve what they get," Bobby crossed his arms over his chest. "You all need to make a choice."
"Evan," Eddie, Athena and Hen answered instantly.
"You whore, why are you ruining my life. You're making everyone look at me like I'm a liar," Maddie ran over and slapped him.
As Athena took a step forward, Maddie put her hands against his chest and pushed.
Evan was standing by the stairs. He lost his balance and started to fall backwards.

"Whoa," Alistair Webster grabbed hold of Evan.
Eddie took a deep breath. The attack came from nowhere, and he had thought that the man he loved could've broken his neck. "Thanks, Cap."
"I'm glad I was here," Alistair eased Evan so he was away from the stairs.
"What are you doing here, Captain Webster?" Bobby asked.
"I asked him to be here," Chief Alonzo said as he walked up the stairs to join them.
"Chief, is there a problem?" Bobby looked around, a little confused at what was going on.
"Is there a problem? What do you think?" Alonzo held up his hand to stop him from answering. "We need to speak in your office."
"I have nothing to hide. We can do it here."
"Fine, Captain Nash, please be at my office at one 'o'clock tomorrow for a review of your time at 118. Please leave now, and I will see you for our meeting."
Chim smiled at Maddie. "So I'm going to be interim captain until he returns?"
Bobby turned and glared at him.
"No, firefighter Han. You are also being looked into about your behaviour."
"What about my behaviour? Is Buck trying to ruin my life? He's jealous," Chim snapped.
"We've had complaints since you started. It seems Captain Nash told us he had dealt with them. But there was nothing on your record. We've never had as many complaints as we did when you became interim captain. They also continued after Mr Buckley quit because of health reasons. We have a couple of floaters coming in. Alexandra Munroe will be interim captain until we deal with things."
"Thank you, Chief Alonzo," Alexandria nodded.
"Mr Buckley, I want to discuss a business proposition when your business is set up." Alonzo handed him his card.
"Of course, I'll be in touch with you soon." Evan reached over and took it.
"It's always Evan causing problems for everyone. He did it when he was a kid," Maddie pouted.
"Stop harassing Evan. You only think of yourself. You don't care about anyone else." Hen couldn't believe how much she ignored. She was finally glad she saw the truth.
"Maddie cares about you," Chim argued.
"And Karen?" Hen asked.
"Of course, I care about you both," Maddie smiled at her.
"Really, do you remember when Karen talked about consultant work?" She watched her best friend as he nodded his head. "You told us that if you knew anyone in that type of business, you would help. Westland was the company Karen really wanted to work with.
Maddie paled and glared at her brother.
"What does this have to do with anything?" Chim asked.
"Oh, so you don't know Westlands was her grandparents' business."
"I'm not close to them. They're the ones that raised Evan."
"They've listened to you before. I mean, you have two friends working there," Evan added.
"They aren't my friends anymore." She snapped.
"Evan believed I had turned against him. He still had talked to his grandmother and had information and a contract for Karen. That's a good person."
"How is Karen doing?" Evan laughed.
"She's been researching, and last I heard, she was about to talk to your grandmother. I haven't seen her this excited for a while. Thank you for knowing how wonderful she is."
"Karen was the exact kind of person with knowledge and skills the company needed."
"I'm sure Maddie–."Chim started to speak.
"We don't care, Chim. You love her and stick up for her no matter the evidence. We're not going to change our minds," Eddie interrupted. He was tired of all the excuses. He looked down at his watch. "I need to go and pick up Adriana. I'll drop you off at home first, Evan."
"You're sister, right?" Athena asked.
"Yes, we'll arrange a little get-together. Depending on her decision, she might be moving here permanently." Eddie looked forward to having her around. It was their parents that caused all the problems.
"We look forward to it," Athena moved and hugged Eddie and Evan. She couldn't believe all the crap they had and were going through. "I'm going back to work with what happened today. I'm going to see if I can get a restraining order against your sister." She whispered.
Evan pulled back and nodded. The two men left. Alistair covered the stairs after they did so no one could follow straight away.
"Thank you for accepting my transfer."
"Eddie speaks highly of you. He thinks you'll fit in well with us," Alistair answered. He wasn't going to go into details. But watching Hen, he did think she would fit in.
"You're leaving me?" Chim whined.
"I'm doing what's best for me. All you care about is her." She nodded at Maddie. "Captain Monroe, it's my turn to make sure the ambulance is stocked."
"Very well, Hen, and it's still Alex, but thank you," Alex smiled. Evan had been the one who believed in her. She'd always be thankful. If Nash and Chim came back, she would probably transfer. Hen showed her that nothing would change if those two men returned, and Alex wasn't prepared to accept those attitudes anymore.
"I will see you tomorrow Captain Nash, and we'll be in touch with you, firefighter Han. The both of you can leave, and Ms Buckley can go with you," Alonzo told them, turned and left. Captain Webster was right behind him.
"None of us wants to hear it," Alex spoke up before either man or Maddie could start on the evils of Evan Buckley.
Athena grinned at her; she needed to see if she could set the restraining order against Maddie.

Phillip Buckley slammed his cell onto the bedside table.
"What is it?" Margaret asked.
"Our parents found out about what we did to Evan and the restraining order.")
She sighed and turned to her husband. "What did they say?"
"Well, we broke that 'contract', so we owe all the money we got for them taking Evan."
"They can't do that. We deserve that money. Evan failed, and Daniel didn't survive."
"They can. It was a legal document. They also have evidence of business deals that weren't exactly legal. It's not the only thing…."
"What else?"
Phillip side and opened his mouth to tell her the rest

Sam pressed a button and smiled as he did so. The main monitors changed, and the back of Taylor Kelly's head could be seen. The man in front of her was former firefighter Evan Buckley.
"Turn it off," Taylor screeched.
He may only be a cameraman, but Sam Evermore was a decent person. Well, he'd like to think he was. His single mother had taught him manners, to not judge or use someone. You never knew their circumstances. He wanted to do well at his job, but not by stepping on other people. His showing everyone this could get him fired. The way Taylor treated the people she worked with was horrible. But what she did to Evan Buckley was disgusting. Just because of revenge because he turned her down.
"What's going on?" Trevor Street asked.
Sam turned to his boss. "I was testing the microphone we were using. I didn't mean to put on the main monitors. I'm sorry. I'll accept any punishment for my mistake." As the monitor continued to show Taylor talking about her co-workers.
"Don't worry about it, Sam. You're new. We all make mistakes." Trevor smirked as he walked away. "Ms Kelly, my office now."

Evan and Chris were cuddled on the couch as the door opened.
"Auntie Rana," Christopher screamed as he got to his feet, made his way over and hugged her.
"Evan, my sister Adriana," Eddie bent down and kissed his boyfriend. "Christopher, go and do your homework. Let your aunt rest."
"Bucky," He whined.
"Homework, like your dad said."
Christopher huffed and slowly made his way to his room.
Evan and Eddie just grinned at each other.
"Why were mom and dad arrested? Sophia said they shouted it was Evan Buckley's fault." Adriana wanted to know what her parents had done to cause this.
"I seemed to get that a lot lately." He chuckled.
"They were working with Ana to kidnap Christopher," Eddie answered
"Wait, what?"
"At least your lawyers know, and Ana has been arrested," Evan added.
"How could they… Why," She asked and looked over at her brother.
"Evan has a theory."
"Which is?"
"Control, I think your parents believe if they keep him helpless, he will always need them. I'm not sure if it's conscious or…."
"Oh, they're well aware. I overheard them say things that never made sense until you said that. It wasn't something that even occurred to me." She sighed.
"No one wants to think their parents could do something like that." Evan paused. "Except mine."
"Why yours?"
"Adriana–."
"It's okay, Eddie. My parents were abusive. I was eventually raised by my maternal grandparents. Eddie, go help, Christopher. Adriana and I need to talk about my business and see if we're on the same page. Just to get started, we can talk more about our respective parents later."
"Sounds good. How about food?"
"We'll send your brother to get a takeaway."
"He's a perfect delivery boy." She laughed as Eddie rolled his eyes.

Maddie shut her apartment door. She couldn't believe that Evan had a restraining order against their parents and now her. How could he do that to her? She was his sister and was just being honest.
Just then, her cell rang.
"Yes, this is Maddie Buckley."
Chim walked into the apartment and was just in time to grab his girlfriend before she collapsed.
"Maddie, what happened? What did Buck do?" He wasn't going to call him Evan if he could help it. Why should he?
"My parents..."
"Are they okay?"
"They paid Doug to date and marry me. They knew about the abuse and told him to keep it quiet and not embarrass them."
Chim held Maddie as she sobbed in his arms.

Chapter Text
A/N Sorry for the ridiculously long delay my health and real life have been crappy. I am hoping to catch up with things as I am having major surgery during the summer. This was supposed to be one chapter, but the handwritten one was way too long. I just need to type them up. It will now be three extra chapters including this one. I am working on other updates too. Hope you are all doing well. Please enjoy.

Chim just stared at Maddie. She looked like she was going to collapse any minute now, "how do you know it's true?"
Maddie wiped away the tears and took some deep breaths.
"That was Teresa. We were...friends once. She was once Doug's girlfriend before I..."
"Before you stole him from her. How do you know she wasn't waiting for the right moment to get revenge?"
"I found out later that she was forced to date him. Her parents owed the Kendall's, I am guessing a lot. I have no idea what was owed and I never asked. All I knew was that Teresa's parents had to do whatever they wanted. Her parents recently died. It was a car accident. She called to let me know everything. As soon as she hung up she was leaving the country." Maddie took a deep breath. "Teresa heard a conversation between my parents and the Kendall's."
"This is about the abuse, right?" He just wanted to make sure he was following along, as this wasn't normal, not to him anyway.
"Yes."
"Do you think your parents would do that?" Chim had no doubt that it was exactly something they would do.
"I thought they truly loved me and only treated Evan like he did because they hated him, and he deserved it."
Chim opened and then closed his mouth. He wasn't going to get into the whole Evan debate. "What are you going to do?"
Maddie sniffed again and mentally put herself back together. This was something she had lots of practice doing. She turned to look at him.
"Nothing, it's over and my parents give me money. If I continue to be good and anything happens to them I will inherit everything."
"Are you sure?" Chim didn't think that this was the best plan. It was a horrible idea.
"Yes, they won't push. They wouldn't want the embarrassment. Everything that happened here is Evan's fault. He just needs to give them the money they want so we can get on with our lives. My parents will then give some to me. It will end up helping us out," Maddie smiled at him.
Chim knew that there was so much wrong with this. But, he loved Maddie and would do anything she wanted. Buck always got the women and the rescues. Everything seemed to go his way. Chim, on the other hand, had to work at it to get any attention. He had always wanted the perfect relationship with the perfect woman and now he had that. So if this is what kept her happy, he would do everything he could to make it happen. It is, after all, what you do in a relationship.
Hen would definitely support him, especially when he reminded her how he had been her first friend at the 118. Chim had been the one to help her. He also introduced her to Karen. So Hen would understand how much she owed him.

"Michael, thank you for meeting me." Bobby smiled as he sat down opposite his friend.
"Bobby," Michael watched him carefully. He'd already talked to Athena, May, Hen, and Eddie. He'd been told everything that had gone on and also been shown the evidence. After this, he was going to visit Buck, with permission and see how he was. The poor kid had been through so much. The only reason he was here was to hear Bobby out and to see if he'd let go of his pride.
"Michael, I know how much you love Athena, and you know how much I love her too. She's being misled, and I'm afraid she's going to get hurt."
"You think Athena is getting misled? By who and why?" Athena was an amazing woman but she was as suspicious as hell and incredibly smart. But he still needed to know where this was going.
"It's Buck, umm, Evan Buckley. He was going to sue the department before he vanished. Eddie's girlfriend, Ana, told me how Buck is using Eddie. Maddie, his sister, also mentioned what kind of person he was growing up. Now, somehow, he's managed to turn Athena against me, and Hen against Chim. He's just causing problem after problem. This file was sent to me that told me everything. Let's not forget how he treated his poor parents."
"Where did this file come from?"
"I don't know. It was sent to the 118 and addressed to me. But it agrees with everything that's been said about Buck."
"You received a mysterious file, from a stranger. It just happens to reiterate what everyone has been saying. You don't find this a little suspicious? Let's not forget some of those things mentioned were already proved to be false like suing the fire department as he had already handed in his resignation." Michael shook his head. "You can't admit to being wrong, can you? Everything had to be Evan's fault. What is it about Howard Han that you always decide to let him get away with practically everything? You believe everyone else, but not Evan?"
"You don't understand."
Michael stood, he'd already had enough. "Stay away from them, especially Athena, May and Harry. You're nothing but trouble. I once believed you were a good and fair man. I was clearly wrong about that. See, I can admit that and I was very wrong about you."
Before Bobby could say anything the other man left. Why wouldn't anyone believe him about Buck? He knew he was right.

Hen decided that she needed to talk to Chim. She walked over to his door, which started to open. As it paused Hen quickly rushed around the corner so she couldn't be seen.
"Goodbye Maddie, Howard," Phillip called out.
"Do you think Maddie will be able to control that...boyfriend of hers?" Margaret sighed, her daughter had failed so often. Daniel would never have done that. He has been perfect. But, she was better than that brat, Evan.
"Well, hopefully she can. It sounds like we still have Captain Nash on our side. Those fake files we sent him worked perfectly. It was worth the money to have them made. All the information Maddie gave us from all those stories that were told at the 118 was perfect. Clearly, none of them liked him. I'm surprised that they never had some kind of 'accident' so they could get rid of him. As soon as Diaz joined they lost that chance," Phillip looked over at his wife. "If they had gotten rid of him back then our lives would've been a lot easier. We wouldn't have had to pretend to get close to him, to drive the others away so that he only had us. But all those plans failed. Why would anyone want him around."
They walked over to their car and climbed in. The vehicle started up and they drove away.
Hen waited for a few more moments to make sure Maddie and Chim weren't going anywhere. She then headed back to her own car. She didn't hate Evan. She adored him, but clearly, her following Chim hid that. Hen tried to think back on the stories. What did they say to make them think he was hated.
She winced as she remembered the jokes, the digs but they were from Chim. But the rest of the 118 never stopped it.
If Chim thought he could get away with it would've he hurt or killed Evan? She no longer knew. Hen had completely lost faith in her best friend. She owed Evan even more apologies.
"The files," she muttered, they were the reason Bobby kept saying he was right and had proof. It was all a lie created by the Buckley's. She had to let everyone else know.
XXXXX
She had gotten home, made some calls and then rested. She didn't know how long it had been when there was knocking at her front door.
Hen opened it and did her best to keep the anger off her face. Anything she got from Chim could help Evan. But, she also wasn't going to pretend and say anything that could be used to help him or hurt Evan.
"What do you want Chim?"
"Hen, I know we've had 'issues' recently, but you are my best friend and I need your support now more than ever. It's also not just for me, but for Maddie as well."
This was too much for her. She had hoped to last longer. If he'd just played the friend card, then maybe Hen could've played along. But, bringing his girlfriend into it, nope, not happening.
"Are you kidding me? With how you treated Buck, and yes, I am well aware of my own mistakes. The lies Maddie's been telling people, and you want me to support you two? I can't and I won't. I'm glad that Evan gave me another chance; even more than that, he helped me. I'm not going to let him down. His trust in me is not misplaced."
"I helped and supported you when you joined the 118. I need that now." He argued.
"I'm not going to support you when you're wrong."
"You owe me," Chim snapped.
Hen just stared at him, her eyes hardened and jaw clenched. "I owe you? So, whenever you've helped someone, it's not because it was the right thing to do. It's because you expect them to pay you back someday. Good to know, now leave."
"Hen-."
"Leave now; if I have to ask again, I will call the police." She couldn't believe that he had never truly been her friend. He hadn't even tried to deny that he used her. She watched as he stormed away. Hen closed the door and leaned on it. Tears fell, and her heart hurt; after all these years, she had never truly known him. Taking a deep breath there were things that needed to be done. Hen had to let Athena and the others know about the fake files Bobby had.

A/N I put the last two chapters in this one, so yes, it's now complete. Hmm, what do you want 911 to do next? 911/Charmed, 911/Mutant X, 911/Reacher, 911/X-Men, 911/MCU (Wanda), 911/Merlin (as in a descendant of Merlin, no interaction). There are others, but these are the next ones I want to start. So tell me in PM, comments, Twitter, IG, or Facebook which one you want next.
Finally, thank you all for waiting patiently and for being so kind when I did update. You are all wonderful and the best. My health is my normal, pain. I am still having tests done for another reason. No idea what will happen there. It just means at the moment they can't put me under for surgery. They have no idea what's going on, so lots of tests lol. My specialist is very thorough. I also live in the UK, so thankfully I have the NHS. So let me know what you thought of the fic and what do you want me to do next from the above list.

Bobby was worried about going to HQ and what would happen to him. He was losing everything. Athena had asked to meet him; hopefully, she was starting to see things his way. He stood as his wife walked over to him. Bobby stood and moved towards her.
"Athena."
She held out her hand to stop him from coming closer. "I have news you won't like, and knowing you, won't believe."
"What news?"
"Hen overheard the Buckleys talking. They're the ones that sent you those files. They admitted that they were all lies to get you on their side."
"What! No! That's not true. Buck put you all up to this. He can't stop causing problems." He argued.
"Evan doesn't know what Hen overheard. They wanted him to feel all alone. They would then swoop in and pretend to care. He would be so desperate and let them in. They then would bleed him dry," Athena had met people like the Buckleys before and they always disgusted her.
"No, it can't be true," Bobby sat down heavily in his chair.
Athena looked around and then sat down. No one had really looked at them as they were in a corner. If she continued to stand people would notice. She also had no intention of staying for long. She couldn't give Bobby the wrong idea about them. It would never work between them until he admitted he was wrong and acknowledged his mistakes. Then did something about it.
"I don't care if you believe me. I'm just telling you what I was told so you have all the information. One day, I hope you'll understand how wrong you were and be able to admit it, or you could continually blame someone else," Athena just stared at him. Had he always been like this? Had he hidden this side, or had she just been blind? "Goodbye, Bobby." She stood, pushed back the chair, turned and walked away.
"Athena, wait!" He reached out to try and grab her hand. She pulled her arm away and continued to walk away and never looking back.

Adriana was looking through her course information. Evan had talked to Chief Alonzo and he was going to give Evan's info to injured firefighters. It seemed word had got out already got out and letters, and emails had already been sent to the business. It was a good start. Adrian's was ever because of Evan's profile and his looks would have people coming in.
She was so glad that she had decided to work with him. Adriana really liked Evan and looked forward to working with him and helping his business grow. She ignored all calls from her parents especially after they had been arrested. It made her sick to think about them planning to kidnap Christopher. Her beloved nephew would've been held as a captive if they had managed it.
At the moment Evan was at the hospital getting a new prosthetic and Eddie was with him. Hopefully, this one would be more comfortable. Everything in her life was coming together. She just needed a new home and Evan promised to help. Eddie was also happy. He hadn't been for a long time. She wasn't sure he had ever been, well, maybe when Christopher had been born. For Eddie's whole life he had to be the man of the house. He had to do the right thing. There was never anything he could do for himself. But now, he was finally happy.

Margaret looked up as Phillip placed his cell onto the table.
"What is it?" She asked.
"Well, the Sampson's and the Michael's are willing to invest into our business. We have all the contracts thanks to the Kendalls. Thankfully, they don't blame us for Maddie's mistakes. I honestly thought she would've remained with Doug and been a good wife. It's what she should have done, even just to save is from embarrassment."
"Well, any help we get from them she'll be the one to pay for it in the future. I agree Maddie shouldn't have left him. She never understood what it meant to be a wife, especially one of a successful man," Margaret was glad that they used Maddie as collateral and they didn't owe the Kendalls themselves. They were many things, but stupid wasn't one of them.
"We also need to leave. I spoke to our lawyer. Legally, we did break the contract. Staying here and trying to get Evan to do the right thing will 'look bad' on us. So leaving and telling the lawyers to 'sort it out' is the right course of action."
"I'm so disgusted by Evan. He owed us, he's so selfish. He couldn't help his family after everything we did for him." She sniffed disdainful, opened her purse, pulled out her compact, flipped it open so she could check her make-up.

The Kendalls looked at each other and started to laugh.
"I can't believe Phillip and Margaret are so gullible," Mr Kendall looked at his wife. "They will all pay."
"Definitely, Maddie always wanted more money, more attention and to be the 'star'. I once overheard her talking. She's expecting a large inheritance. We'll make sure she ends up with nothing. What about Evan?"
"His grandparents would step in and protect him. He also has nothing to do with this. His parents treated him badly. They would enjoy seeing him hurt and we can't have that." It wasn't about protecting Evan, it was about ruining his parents fun. He then started to laugh.
"What?" His wife asked.
"Can you imagine their faces if Evan ends up with more money, a name for himself and actually was happy."
"Yes, darling that would be amusing. Let's keep an eye on him and drop into conversation how wonderfully we've heard Evan is doing. They'll hate hearing about it, but won't be able to say anything negative about him. They will hate every moment."
"We can't ruin them yet so we have to amuse ourselves."
"What are you two up to?" Doug asked as he walked in.
"Plans to ruin Philip, Margaret and Maddie." Mrs Kendall explained.
Doug joined them at the table. He picked up a photo of a handsome, muscular and shirtless man. He then noticed the birthmark.
"This is Evan? Wow, didn't he grow up to be attractive," Doug whistled appreciatively.
"Son, stay away from him. His grandparents would destroy us. But you could mention in company how you clearly picked the wrong Buckley when talking to Phillip and Margaret."
"They still hate him?" Doug asked.
"Yes, they do." Mrs Kendall answered.
"So what has Evan been up to?" His eyes traced over the beautiful form. He may not be able to do anything to his brother-in-law, but he could fantasise. Doug would listen to his parents, for now. No one knew what the future would bring. But having control over that gorgeous man would be amazing. All that power under his fingertips. He definitely needed to find someone here to play with.
"He's a firefighter, a bomb exploded on the ladder truck and the cab part landed and crushed the bottom part of his leg. It needed to be amputated, below the knee. He now is starting up his own physical therapy practice. It seems he is dating his best friend, an army combat medic who had a silver star. This man also has a kid with cerebral palsy who Evan seems to love," Mr Kendall explained.
"I definitely picked the wrong Buckley. He would've been perfect on my arm."
"Well, Maddie exaggerated about what happened between the two of you. They don't understand you were trying to teach her how to be a proper wife," Mrs Kendall muttered.
"Evan, also has money, but he doesn't show off. Apart from his house and his new practice, everything else he lived off what he earnt. The three Buckley's tried to cause him problems but that seems to have backfired,"Mr Kendall added.
"Keep an eye on him and also keep sending me photos."
"Doug," his mother warned him.
"Don't worry mother. I don't plan on going near him. I can watch from afar. It's too soon anyway. People would talk. We do have a reputation to uphold, maybe I can find someone like Evan here? We should also let people know how cruel and selfish Maddie was and is. I mean look at how they've treated poor, poor Evan."
"We do have evidence of how all three treated a good and caring man like Evan. A man who was injured while doing his job as a first responder. It might help earn some back of our reputation," Mr Kendal smiled. "It seemed as soon as moved to LA, she started to date this guy Howard Han, who doesn'tseem to like Evan. But..."
"Yes, I know dad stay away from Evan. He could ruin any plans we have." Ruining Maddie's life would be fun and that was his goal. Doug had planned to follow her, and force her to come back. But he realised she wasn't worth it. This was easier and more fun. Getting someone to date him would be no problem at all.

"Callum, it's so good to see you," Doug reached out and shook the other mans hand. He noticed the Buckleys heading their way. "We've decided to raise money for our firefighters."
Callum paused. "You are, why?" This was unusual for Doug, not without a reason and 'just to help' wasn't usually that reason.
It didn't take long for a crowd to surround them pretending not to eavesdrop.
"Well, we found out Evan had been injured and it was so bad he needed below the knee amputated. He's gone back to the career he was originally going to do, a physical therapist. It made us think about our first responders."
"Evan?"
"Evan Buckley. He became a firefighter, a good man. A handsome one too," Doug heard the others laugh. "We only found out recently. I was surprised Phillip and Margaret didn't say anything. My parents and I looked into it. Not only the physical issues, there are also the mental ones too. The horrors they must go through. So we wanted to raise money to help our firefighters here and to make sure they have help in the future. We want to have it all in Evan's name, so he knows he isn't forgotten by us."
Phillip and Margaret pasted fake smiles pasted on their faces.
Callum turned to them. "You must be so proud of him?"
"Yes, we are," Phillip muttered.
"Doug, this is a wonderful idea. I will definitely want to donate myself. I'll pass the word around. We don't think enough about those who are hurt trying to save us," Callum smiled.

"They what?" Maddie screeched and slammed the phone down onto the table.
Chim winced and hoped she hadn't damaged it. "What's wrong?"
"It seems the Kendall's had a party to raise money for firefighters all in Evan's name." She snapped.
"What?"
"Yes, it seems everyone is so impressed with Evan. They even had photos. Mum and dad said they were talking about how much of a hero he is and how handsome. Someone joked he was the best Buckley and people agreed. Can you believe it, Evan isn't better than me."
"But, everyone knows what Doug was like, right?"
"It seems some people remembered how we talked and treated Evan. Then on top of that when Evan was injured my parents never even mentioned him. It seems our reputations have taken a hit. There's also phtotis of us together."
"Us? What's wrong with that?" Chim asked.
"Well, I supposedly ran away from the man who hurt me, not long after I arrive I start dating someone. The person I am dating is known to hate my brother. It's not a good look. Why the hell did they bring Evan up?" Maddie picked up a glass and threw it at the wall.

Eddie walked into the living room and smiled. Watching the two people he loved most in the world, snuggled together made his heart happy.
"You will help with my homework papa?"
Evan smiled down at him. He never got tired of hearing papa. "Of course I Will Superman, we'll look at it tomorrow."
Eddie walked over. "I love you," and kissed him.
"I love you too."
"I love you both, where are my kissies," Christopher grinned and giggled as they both went to kiss him. "Come join us Daddy."
"Ok, I'll call for a takeaway later," Eddie cuddled into the other side of his son.

Ramon stared at his lawyer. "Well, did you manage to get hold of my son and sort this misunderstanding out?"
"Mr Edmundo Diaz wants nothing to do with you, neither do the rest of your family," Mr Barkley flipped through the papers in the file he was holding. "The police have evidence you were planning to kidnap Christopher Diaz."
"He's my grandson. We weren't kidnapping him. My wife and I are the only ones that know what he needs."
"Mr Diaz, you didn't have permission to take him from his legal guardian, which is his father. It doesn't matter your relationship with the child. It's still kidnapping."
"You don't understand my wife and I —."
Mr Barkely held up his hand. "It doesn't matter what you or your wife think. If your son has no abuse towards his son, that has been followed up, legally, there is nothimg you can do. He is taking care of his child and making sure he goes to school. But even then you would need to go through the legal system. You aren't above the law, legally you were planning a kidnapping. I suggest you plead guilty with all the evidence and statements against you both. If this goes to trial, it won't go well for you."
Ramon just stared at him. How did this all go wrong? If Edmundo had just handed Christopher over when they told him too. His grandson needed to understand his limitations, Ana understood that.
XXXXX
"Where's Edmundo?" Ana demanded. He should be here helping her. It was all Evan Buckley's fault, everything would've been perfect if he hadn't come back. Her boyfriend would've done everything she had wanted, like a good partner should. Christopher would've ended up with his grandparents. She should be planning her wedding and not sitting here like a common criminal. Ana had been training her future husband for him to be what she wanted. Everything was perfect until thar disgusting man came back
"Mr Edmundo Diaz wants nothing to do with you. He was very...explicit. Miss Flores —."
"Ms Flores."
"Very well, Ms Flores. I would advice you to plead guilty —."
"What, no."
Miss Whitlaw sighed. "There are messages between you Mr Ramon Diaz and Mrs Helena Diaz. It's for the planning of kidnapping of Christopher Diaz. There are also statements of you isolating Mr Diaz and his son. Then how you lied after attacking Evan Buckley."
"That man is disgusting. No one should want to be around him," Ana wrinkled her nose. Just thinking about him sickened her.
"He was a respected first responder who was injured while doing his duty. Talking like this will turn the jury and public opinion against you. It would make things more difficult for you. Ms Flores, you didn't actually kidnap the child. If you would agree to turn on Ramon and Helena Diaz, we might be able to get you a deal."
"What about my career?"
"That's over. You plan to help kidnap the disabled child of your boyfriend. A child you once taught. No credible school or parents would want you around their children. You are a danger and a security risk."
"But Edmundo was supposed to just want me. He should be happy to give away his son. We would have perfect children together. It wouldn't be fair to me that I had to raise some other woman's child who physical difficulties. I should be planning the perfect wedding. Tell them that and get me out of here."
Miss Whitlaw stared at her papers. She would do her duty to the best of her ability. Doesn't mean she had to like her clients. The evidence and the attitude was too much. A deal had been the best thing for her. But Ms Flores career was over no matter what the woman thought. Eddie Diaz hated her, whatever fantasy she had built up in her head wasn't going to play out the way she planned.

Mr Smyth breathed deeply as the door behind him closed. He could still hear Helena Diaz screaming how she deserved Christopher. How she was his mother. He would do what he could, but having a client who wouldn't listen wasn't easy. Whoever the judge was wouldn't allow these outbursts. He needed to stock up on headache tablets, he was going to need them.

Bobby watched as Chief Alonzo sat opposite him. He hoped he got off with a warning. After all he was just protecting his firefighters. Chim was an excellent paramedic and had been through a lot under Gerrard. It wasn't his fault that Buckley causes issues. After all Maddie would know about it being his sister.
"Captain Nash, you were brought in to help clean house at the 118 from all the bigotry that had happened before. Some of it had already been addressed. You were to sort out the last remains if it."
"Yes, sir, I was."
"You did manage to do that, to a point. What we didn't expect is you allowing someone who lived through the bigotry and to allow them to harrass and bully other firefighters he was jealous off."
"Chief Alonzo Chim was only joking."
"I didn't name who it was, but you cane up with a name straight away without even thinking about it. You also have automatically made an excuse for him. Let me make it clear, if the person who the joke is about isn't laughing, it isn't a joke."
"But Evan Buckley —."
"You couldn't keep probational firefighters before Evan Buckley joined. I went and asked them why. It was the bullying by Firefighter Han and others joined in. They knew that making a complaint would come back on them. You both knew that. It disgusts me, that you used this to let Firefighter Han get away with things. There have been many complaints about Han."
"People see different things. I'm sure -."
"Howard Han has acted inappropriately on scenes. He was filmed by the public on numerous occasions on different scenes. Please don't pretend you have no idea what I am talking about, they were sent to you. But once again nothing appeared in Han's file. On the other hand there are endless comments in Buckley's file no matter how small."
"But nothing was done about those. Are you sure it's still not racism," Bobby stood and shouted.
"Sit down Capatin Nash. If you read Firefighter Buckley's file, every single incident was looked into. We did our jobs. You didn't. None of them apart from a few incidents held up and those were left on his file. It is weird because the stories were that Evan Buckley was your favourite. That's clearly not true. It's Howard Han. Now, you have let harassment happen and we've got statements from numerous stations, police officers, hospital staff and general public. All these people noticed, but you didn't."
"I have paperwork to prove the problems Buck's caused, not just here but elsewhere." He pleaded and handed over the file.
"Yes, we heard about this. We called every past employer and all thise that gave him recommendations. All these so called statements are fake. We had police go round with lawyers to confirm it. They have all given us actually statements. The signatures also don't match."
Bobby froze, Athena had told him, but he hadn't believed her.
"Fake?"
"Yes, as I said we checked them all out. They were actually singing his praises. For a man his size, people trusted him. He would also make sure the ladies got safely to their cars. He was honest and trustworthy. They would love him back, everywhere we talked to."
Bobby just stared at him. This couldn't be happening.

Hen smiled as she stared at her phone.
"What's going on?" Karen asked.
"It's official I am now part of the 216 with Eddie. I don't what would've happened if Evan hadn't come back, if everything hadn't come up. What if he hadn't forgiven and helped me leave the 118?"
"I don't know. We're lucky he's such a good man. Because of him I also have a job I am excited about. Where I can still be home for Denny or if you have an emergency at work. Thanks will never be enough."
Hen sighed. "All we can do is be there and show him how much we care. I still can't believe how much I let Chim get away with, but also how I acted." Just then her phone beeped.
"Anything interesting?"
"A party at Athena's. It's to show Evan he has people who care and have his back."
"What a wonderful idea," Karen walked over and hugged her wife.

"Sam Evermore?" A woman held out her hand.
"Yes, and you are?" He reached out and shook it.
"I'm Jessica Maza. I understand you're my cameraman. It was such a shame what happened to Taylor. She was such a 'delight'," Jessie paused. "She tried to get me fired. We were up for the same pieces. She implied I was being inappropriate with a man on one of my stories. There wasn't any evidence because I hadn't done anything. They couldn't fire me on just her word. She wasn't very pleased when they told her that."
"I look forward to working with you." All he wanted was a good working relationship where they respected each other.
"Same, call me Jessie."

Maddie felt she could finally breathe as her parents had finally left LA. They had managed to get some investors. She hated the fact that the Kendall's helped. But in the end the money would end up hers. Doug had also decided to leave her alone. She was sure that he woupd follow her and force her back into their marriage. Maddiechoped that they would never see each other again.
It was still Evan's fault that those damn Kendall's were involved in her life. All he had to do was go along with what they wanted and just hand over the money. Then her parents would've handed some over to her. It would've made things easier.
Evan wanted to ruin her life. He was just jealous that people wanted to be around her. She was the star, the perfect daughter, and sister. Now Howie was having issues at work. All her boyfriend wanted to do was protect her. Maddie loved the fact he did whatever she wanted. It's the way it should be. She spent enough time doing everything for Doug. It was never enough and he beat her for it. Getting away was the best thing she ever did, even using Evan to do it.

Eddie held Evan tightly against his chest. Sometimes he never wanted to sleep. He just wanted to feel Evan's body against his. This almost never happened and his parents might have kidnapped his son.
"Calm down," Evan whispered against his chest, placing a soft kiss over the heart. "Are you okay?"
"I was just thinking how I didn't want to sleep. Just lie here and feel your body next to mine. Then my mind spiralled thinking that this might never have happened and how my parents could've kidnapped Christopher. I just panicked."
"Well, we are here together. Christopher is safe and your parents were arrested."
"I don't know what I did to deserve you," Eddie whispered.
"You were just you. It's all I ever wanted or needed."
The two held onto each other even tighter and slowly feel asleep.

Chim pushed past people he ignored them as they yelled and glared at him.
"Asshole." A man shouted after bring shoved.
He couldn't believe what had happened. It was just jokes and him protecting Maddie. Alonzo, the jerk, had told him he was lucky to still have a job. It was because Bobby had said he had dealt with all past issues. Now, he was a great captain and truly cared, the rest were crap. They only cared about themselves.
He'd been transferred to another station. Chim had hoped it would be with Hen. She'd made so many mistakes lately. Hopefully, she would realise that, apologise to him and Maddie. Hen would need to earn his trust again. His best friend was now working with Eddie. Buck had probably already met the crew and turned them against him. Chim had always said this, Buck was just jealous of him. It was the reason why everything had turned out crappy for him.
Chim was no longer head paramedic or second in command. He hoped those in his new station would listen to him and his years of experience. They would get his sense of humour and realise the talk of bullying was a lie. It wouldn't be long before he was in charge again. His new captain would give him leeway, just like Bobby because of all the bigotry he went through.

Bobby, Maddie had met up with Chim at his place.
"I can't believe what happened to the two of you," Maddie whined. "You both were demoted and transferred."
Just as Chim opened his mouth, Maddie's phone beeped. They both leaned over. There was a photo on Instagram. There was a party at Athena's place. It included Buck, Eddie, Hen, Karen, the 216 and the kids. There was nothing but smiles.
"It's fake," Chim growled. "It's never going to be like it was at the 118."
Bobby wasn't sure. It looked like everyone was enjoying themselves. The one photo he couldn't help looking at was the one of Athena and Buck hugging each other. There was one last thought that maybe they didn't want it be like the 118. If they had they would still be there.

Evan grinned at Adriana. The months had flown by. His own business was finally open. He'd already had a deal with the fire, police departments, and hospitals. Peoples insurance did cover gis business. They would recommend him with others. It helped that people knew his name and that he understood the struggle to try and get back to work.
"Are you ready Adri?"
"I am, and thank you for thinking of me."
"You've worked hard since you said yes. You've actually worked harder to gain the extra knowledge you need. We work well together. You won't just agree with me and I can trust your opinion," Evan sighed. "How are you doing with everything else?"
"It doesn't feel like it was enough to me. Our parents are monsters and they only got 18 months in prison. Just because it was a 'planned' kidnapping, not an actual one. Who knows how much time they will do with good behaviour."
"Do you think either of your parents would be able to show good behaviour?" Evan laughed.
Adriana joined in. "They are so used to getting their own way. That definitely won't go down well. At least we have a restraining order when they do get released. Well, let's get everything ready for our first patient."
The two nodded. Evan held out his arm, which Adriana took hold off and they headed into the building together.

Bobby, Maddie and Chim sat in the park together. There were other first responders wandering around. People were polite to them, but it was clear that the three had lost any respect they once had. Bobby had been shown the evidence to prove all the files he had were fake. Maddie refused to hear anything negative about her parents. In her mind it would always be Evan's fault.
"No one has a sense of humour. It's not my fault they take things the wrong way," Chim hated the fact he couldn't say anything like he used to.
Bobby stared at Chim and remembered when he complained about all the jokes Gerrard and his cronies would say. Chim would tell them it wasn't funny. But he was just told he couldn't take a joke. Why did he let the younger man get away with so many things. As a captain and a person, Bobby now knew he had let so many people down, including himself. He went to therapy and doubled up on his AA meetings. He had to sort his life out, Bobby knew that meeting Maddie and Chim was not helping. He planned on not doing it again.
"They're just jealous of you," Maddie smiled at her boyfriend.
Bobby knew not to say anything, but their relationship was not healthy. Maddie picked someone she could control. Chim had an attractive woman who he could show to everyone and his 'perfect' relationship.

"Margaret, Phillip, it's good to see you both," Doug walked over smirking. His boyfriend, who had a familiar look, on his arm. He also knew the two couples the Buckley's were talking too. They were possible investors.
"Doug," Phillip forced a smile. The Kendall's had helped with investors, but they were doing everything they could to ruin Maddie's reputation. The photos of her and Chim kissing had appeared. It looked like she had an affair and left. The rumours about Doug had not completely disappeared either. But unfortunately the way Maddie had started dating Doug and her attitude has caused issues.
"You must be so proud of Evan." He managed to stop the laughter as Margaret glared at him.
"Who's Evan?" Kelly Peterson asked.
"Evan is their son. He lives in LA. He used to be a firefighter. There was a bomb planted on one of their ladder trucks. Part of his lower leg was crushed and had to be amputated. He's now opened physiotherapy practice. He works with first responders, vets and people with CP," Doug knew everything about Evan Buckley
"CP seems a little out of place," Kelly was a little confused.
"Evan's boyfriend, Eddie, his son has CP. He wanted to make sure he course help as he loves that little boy," Doug hated that Evan was not only dating, but a man as well.
"Wow, you must be so proud of him. It's odd you only ever mentioned a daughter?" Aaron Peterson asked.
"Yes, we are very proud of him," Phillip muttered through gritted teeth.
Kelly had heard different things about Maddie. Her parents acted like she was perfect and they clearly didn't feel the same way about their son. Then there was Doug, there was something about him that scared her. She was glad Maddie got away, but the Kendall's and the Buckley's still remained in each other's lives. Kelly knew she had to he polite to Doug. But on the other hand Evan did seem a wonderful man.
"We do business in LA, maybe we could meet him?" Kelly looked at her husband. She was lucky with the man she fell in love with and married.
"Definitely. We can also look into donating money to charities for first responders," Aaron announced.
Margaret and Phillip just looked at each other. They couldn't force any more polite words, so all they did was just nod.

Athena was glad Bobby was finally understanding what he did was wrong. But he still was spending time with Chim and Maddie.
She had no idea if they would ever get back together. At the moment she was enjoying being single. She had joined a couple of clubs. She met up with family and friends. It had been a long time since Athena had been considered single. It never happened between Michael and Bobby. It was fun getting to know who she was and now finding hobbies. Her mother had been a bit of a nightmare, but she also adored Evan.
Evan helped her mom with issues she had with her legs. Beatrice had unofficiallty adopted Evan and Christopher. She was thrilled to have a great-grandson. May, Harry and Christopher liked to go out. Christopher would call them aunt and uncle. It made them laugh to see the looks on people's faces.
Athena smiled at a photo of her and Evan. No matter what people said he was her oldest boy. She had been polite to Maddie and Chim when they would bump into each other no matter what they said. It was getting more difficult. They didn't know when to stop

Evan smiled at his grandparents as they chatted to Christopher who sat between them.
"He loves them," Eddie wrapped his arms around Evan's waist as he spoke.
"They love him too."
"I love you Evan," Eddie paused. "Will you marry me?" He hadn't planned on asking yet, but now seemed perfect.
Evan turned around I'm his arms. "Will, I...yes, yes, of course I will." He shouted and both men moved forward and kissed each other.
As they pulled back they turned towards their family who were cheering. Christopher got to his feet and moved over to them.
"I love you dad, I love you papa."
Eddie lifted him up. "We love you too." He never loved anyone as much as he did these two. He couldn't wait to see what the future would bring. He knew Athena and the others would be thrilled. The only two that would hate it, he didn't care about.

Evan sat at his desk. He may dislike Maddie, but Doug didn't deserve to get away with abuse. His grandparents had looked into things. They also found a cop that they hope could be trusted. Doug would pay for his crimes.
As much as he hated the other man, him talking about Evan and first responders had helped to raise money. Evan also got contacts through them. The boyfriend didn't last long because as soon as Doug hit him, the mam had retaliated. It seemed Doug Kendall wasn't dating at the moment. But word also got back to him that all Doug talked about, photos he had were of him. It made his skin crawl.
Hopefully he would end up in jail. His looks and attitude would make him so popular with the inmates.
"Papa, we're supposed to be swimming?"
"Coming Christopher." He never thought he would ever be this happy.
The End
