Chapter Text
SOMEWHERE IN THE CITY A BUILDING BURNS.
A mother cries out, her child trapped. Smoke traveling in columns to the heavens, heavy smog setting in the skylines. Heroes nowhere to be found.
A boy watches- knowing he is not helpless.
The street swarmed with chaos around him, lamp posts flickering out from his panic and smoke pilling higher and higher. The building was alight, heat radiating off the concrete walls in waves. Smoke poured from broken windows and screams echoed into the clouds.
Knowing there is no one left to help, the fire fighters grounded by raging flames, he charges into the building and across the city a family of three rush about in a hurry to save lives.
The boy re-emerges from a window with no glass left in it’s frame, the child swaddled on his back in a fire blanket- he coughs, his lungs filled with noxious smoke. He told her to close her eyes, yet she didn’t and guilt would fill her for watching the boy with glowing palms walk through flames and melt windows.
A woman ran up to the girl, pushing past paramedics. She cried- clutching the girl in her arms.
People looked up, yelling words towards figures that flew through the skies. The boy slid away, knowing the heroes were here to help. Paramedics distracted, he left the narrow street, walking in the dark with spluttering coughs.
