Despite hearing a knock on his door, Chiyufu didn’t move an inch, too focused on his manga.
"Chifuyu, your friend his here." His mom said, opening the door.
His friend? No one was supposed to come today? Looking up from his manga, he saw Baji standing in the door frame. Chifuyu eyes lighted up, it was the first time Baji came in his house, even though he told him multiple times to come over. He was used to hanging out in the older’s room, it became a habit to go there after classes. But today was different.
"Baji-san!" Chifuyu blurted loudly. "You finally came!"
"Wow calm down, Chifuyu." Baji answered with a big smile. "I’m only here to see your cat."
"Ouch." Putting a hand on his heart and faking pain, the blond boy stood up from his bed. "You’re really just using me."
Baji laughed, finally stepping into the room, looking around. "You’re a bonus that comes with the cat." He joked, approaching the cat toys on the shelf.
"Shouldn’t it be the other way around? The cat’s a bonus." Chifuyu chuckled, walking towards the other boy.
"Cats are the priority, Chifuyu." Baji concluded, turning around to face the younger who was smiling slyly. Seeing the expression on the other’s face, he raised a brow, also smiling.
"I’m sorry Baji-san.." Chifuyu murmured, looking down.
"What’s up with you?" Baji stepped closer. He couldn’t see Chifuyu’s face but knowing him, it wasn’t anything serious. Right?
"I.." The blond turned his back to Baji, leaving him confused. "I don’t think I can show you my cat." He continued, feigning sadness.
"Wha-" Baji burst out of laughing when he finally heard the other’s words. Chifuyu looked over his shoulder to see the other one laughing but decided to keep his act up. "I don’t think you deserve to see Peke J." He blurted.
"I’ll have to leave then." Baji answered, playing along. "There’s nothing interesting here if Peke J isn’t present."
A little scratching sound came from the door, interrupting the conversation between the two.
"Just in time." Baji smirked.
Walking towards the door, Chifuyu sighed, accepting his defeat. He opened it, letting in the cat who was asking to enter a second ago. "Happy now?"
Crouching in front of Peke J, Baji let out a small 'yes'. He patted the cat who immediately started to purr. Both of them looked like they liked each other already. Chifuyu smiled warmly, he didn’t know if he found the cat or Baji cuter.
Wait, when did he start thinking that Baji could be cuter than Peke J. When did he even start thinking Baji looked cute at all, with his stupid eye smile and his little fangs-
Chifuyu shook his head to keep his disturbing thoughts away.
"You really like animals, right?" He remarked, crouching next to the long haired boy.
"Yeah.. hm.. actually I’d love to own a pet shop." Baji confessed, still looking down at Peke J.
"Is that your dream job?" Chifuyu asked, leaning a bit to try to see Baji’s face.
"Yeah."
Chifuyu caught a glimpse of a faint blush on his friend’s face. "Oh Baji-san! Are you embarrassed? That’s a cute dream!" He started laughing and Baji, who was now looking at him, gave him a punch on the shoulder. Chifuyu fell on his butt, still laughing.
"Stop laughing at me, dickhead."
"Okay okay, I’ll tell you my dream so we’re quits! Chifuyu said, catching his breath.
"I wanna be a pilot! You can admit it, it’s way cooler than yours." He started laughing again.
"You really want me to punch you?" Baji retorted, half jokingly.
"Calm down or I take back Peke J." Chifuyu menaced, with a big smile.
"I will just steal your cat" Baji took Peke J in his arms and stood up. Chifuyu gasped before standing up too. He extended his arms to block Baji from leaving with the cat.
"You better not."
"Who’s blackmailing who now, Chifuyu?" Smiling slyly, Baji took a step toward him reducing the distance between them.
Chifuyu blushed a bit. "Yeah, okay, I think you’ll do a great pet shop owner." He confessed. "Are you satisfied?"
"I never asked anything." Baji smirked, stepping back and putting the cat down. He started to pet him again.
Chifuyu stood there in defeat, looking at Peke J who seemed to really appreciate Baji’s attention.
"Enough! You gave Peke J enough attention, it’s my turn." Chifuyu complained, picking the cat up. He then gave a small kiss on the top of his head.
"I’m jealous." Baji grumbled, stepping closer to him.
"You had the cat a second ago, how are you already jealous?" The younger boy chuckled, still holding the cat and patting him.
"I’m not talking about Peke J." Murmured Baji.
"Hm?" Chifuyu wasn’t sure if he understood correctly what his friend said.
Baji leaned a bit, placing a quick kiss on Chifuyu’s forehead, who started blushing like crazy.
"Ba-"
"Who’s embarrassed now? I’ll go, see you tomorrow, Chifuyu." The black haired boy put his hand on the top of the other’s head and ruffled his hair before stepping out of the room. Chifuyu stayed in place, mouth agape, still processing what just happened.
He hugged Peke J a bit tighter, hiding his face in his fur. "Aaaah, Baji-san that’s unfair." He said to himself, blushing harder.
