“Owain…?”
Alice peeked over her best friend’s shoulder, knowing that he had finished the last of his immediate current cases earlier that day. Yet, they seemed frenzied, Though the call of their name brought them out of their thoughts with a jump, banging their knee against the desk.
“Ow. Shit-“ Owain continued cursing under his breath, as Alice saw exactly what her friend was looking over.
“Dr. Richter’s profile from Big Data Labs…?”
“…date of birth…”
Alice was confused until she saw the date of birth on Dr. Richter’s profile, “Ohhhhhhhh.”
“Oh. I told him that one time that I wanted to celebrate his birthday with him,” His knee recovered, mostly, Owain sighed, “And the custody hearing for the Henderson case is that day too…”
“Henderson…” Alice swiped through a few things on her tablet, “I was on some of the initial hearing for that because they had to sort out some contract stuff, right?”
“Yeah. Still can’t believe the bastard tried to pass that chores division thing like it was a legally binding contract,” Owain scratched his head, ruffling his hair a bit, “Really, we’re just taking statements from the kids that day so some legal needs to present to make sure the parents aren’t coercing the kids either way.”
“So I’ll be there, and this wouldn't be the first time dealing with parts of a custody hearing,” After that, Alice then began muttering to herself, rearranging her schedule before she shot a look at her fellow lawyer, “Keep the 27th free, Owain.”
“Don’t you have at least three hearings next week?” He spluttered, “And a trial?”
“I can push the consultation with Marius to Artem to work on. Some are just depositions, so won’t take more like 1-2 hours tops,” She locked her tablet and smirked at Owain, tapping him on the head with the tablet as she leaned back against the desk, “I think you have a birthday to plan.”
“Thanks Alice,” Owain couldn't help grinning.
She hummed, smiling, “Gotta play a little wingwoman, don’t I?”
Owain couldn’t help the flush on his face just as much as Alice couldn’t help her resulting laugh.
