Chapter Text
Venti wanted to be wrapped in this night, warm and comfortable in Diluc’s embrace. The roads that led him here had been uneven, unpaved, and many times he considered turning back. He considered that he did not want to fall in love after all, even in Diluc’s beauty and in all the ways Diluc was vivacious and alive.
But he fell in love, inevitably, perhaps. He fell headfirst into this depth that he had not explored in his thousands of years. Love, different from that he felt for his city. Different from what he had felt for friends and companions over the years. This was love in a way that was entirely human. Love that he did not know a god could feel until it happened to him.
“What are you thinking about?” Diluc asked, his voice bleary and heavy with drowsiness. Still, Diluc did not let go of Venti, keeping his arms around Venti’s body. He held him tight like he was a dandelion to fly away at any second.
You, Venti did not say. Always you while I am here.
Instead, he pulled himself closer, leaning on Diluc’s chest, letting out a sigh that felt like a gentle breeze embracing them both.
