Chapter Text
you weren’t even supposed to be in the lineup, being still freshly new to the team, but having the black widow as your mentor meant going big or going home. it was originally yelena’s mission and everyone knew she wasn’t keen on two particular things; sudden changes to her work and anything that could injure you. the entire base knew of her massive soft spot, even you started teasing after a particular accident involving a web.
it was an easy little thing; get in, plug in the flash drive to the main console, leave, and don’t die. that last part yelena kept insisting was the most important in her pre-arriving rambles
“once you get in do not play hero милая, straight to the console, plug that in and come back oka- you’re not even listening to me!”
“you’re so pretty lena”
“that is not- thank you зайка you’re pretty too”

‘so much for paying attention’ thought yelena, as she sat across the road from your missions building, which now included you leaping from a side window with an entire explosion following you.
the impact of it all making your consciousness wavy, meanwhile yelena was already beside you trying to assess any major injuries from afar. “why would you do that?!” she hissed, relieved flooding over her after feeling your steady pulse, but that didn’t stop the angry tears from falling, “i tell you one thing, no hero stuff and no dying, but no, stupid natasha filled your head with nonsense!”, she paused after seeing a loopy grin on your face,
“did i look cool lena?”, of course that’s where your head was at, yelena couldn’t even stop her smile from forming “pretty girl, wh- yes you looked very cool”
