Episode 01: A Brand New Day
09:00 am 15th May 2013
1st Floor corridor Gotham City Academy,
Gotham City, New Jersey
Artemis is walking through the corridor on the first floor of the Gotham City Academy when she comes across Barbara Gordon, who unlocks her locker.
"Hey Artemis, how were last night's activities?" asked Barbara.
"Not bad considering who we were against last night," said Artemis.
Barbara asked, "So, what were your team up against?".
"The Brotherhood of Mutants and two former S.A.S. soldiers tried to kill Senator Graydon Creed as he spoke at a Metahuman registration rally. He's trying to pass a Metahuman registration bill requiring all Metahuman heroes or villains to register with the government." Said Artemis
"So, what happened?" asked Barbara with concern.
"It was terrible. The venue became a bloodbath after Hellfire and Brimstone killed Creed's protection detail. Then, we watched as Brimstone pushed an energy orb into Creed's mouth and forced him to swallow it. Then, after placing the second one inside his mouth, she tapped his mouth shut." Artemis said.
"Oh god, I remember reading her military record. Her mutant ability allows her to create energy-explosive bombs, doesn't it?" asked Barbara in terror.
"Yeah, just saying it wasn't pretty when Creed exploded in front of the media will raise huge support for the Mutant Registration Act," said Artemis.
Barbara said, "It's a tragedy, but I can understand why the government wants to push it through."
"The public will demand it now." She sighed heavily. "We have a lot of work ahead of us."
"So you know the Hellfire and Brimstone story, don't you, Barbara?" asked Artemis
"Yeah, I saw a CNN news report on former Sergeant Wayne John' Hellfire' Decker and his Michelle 'Brimstone' Decker visiting Central Park with their child when the Anti-mutant religious group attacked them. The Purifiers murdered the child," said Barbara.
"It was a tragedy," Barbara said. "No parent should have to go through such a tragedy."
"True, but that doesn't justify them hunting down countless Purifier cells and killing their members," said Artemis
"That's true, but you have to consider the effect of losing a loved one and how it could mess you up; how would you act if you found out your sister Jade was killed, or your niece Lian was murdered instead, or if you found out your mother or even your father?" asked Barbara.
"I would be pissed off if it was my mum, Jade or my niece; not much about my father, but I wouldn't want people to get revenge," said Artemis.
"You know, I can't believe you're related to Sportmasters and Tigress," said Barbara Gordon.
"So, do you miss being part of Team Barbs?" asked Artemis.
"I sometimes do, but every time I try to put on the costume again, I have a significant panic remembering when Scarecrow sprayed me with his fear toxin and witnessing my most terrifying fears," said Barbara.
"I am sure you could become tech support for the team." Said Artemis.
"Maybe I might," said Barbara as she opened her locker to see a medium size box in wrapping paper that had a tag from your secret admirer G and a photo booth picture of her and Gwen in a romantic embrace, with one of the photos showing her and Gwen in a passionate kissing pose.
"Oh, Gwen, you romantic girl," said Barbara as she picked up the box and was sprayed in the face by something causing her to drop the item and scream in pain
"Barbara, are you okay?" screamed Artemis as she witnessed Barbara running to the drinking fountain to spray water in her face, but it wasn't working.
"There was some chemical inside that package. I need medical treatment. I can't see, I can't see, I can't fucking see."
Two hours later
Wayne General Hospital
Gotham City, New Jersey
Barbara Gordon was lying in a hospital bed with bandages covering her eyes; she was bombarded with the ominous sounds of a busy hospital. James sat in the chair beside her hospital bed, muttering under her breath.
"Dad, what happened? Why can't I see?" she asked.
"Pumpkins, it seems the chemical sprayed in your face was an unknown chemical that blinded you," said James.
"No, it can't be possible. But do we know who put the device in my locker?" asked Barbara.
"The cellphone belonged to Gemma Mason. We currently have G.C.P.D. looking for her," said James.
"Something is wrong, Dad. I can hear many things. The chemical used in the device did something to me, Barbara said.
"The C.S.I. agents confirm the chemical came from T.C.R.I., but the company is not forthcoming with information, so there is no idea what chemical was used to destroy your eyesight," said James.
"So we have no idea what was used on me. Just luck," said Barbara. "We need to figure out what chemical it was and see if there is any way to reverse the damage." James nodded in agreement. "I'll try to find out. Pumpkin," he said
"I know you will, Father," said Barbara as James nodded, walked into the Hospital Hallway, and called one of his old contacts. Barbara watched him worry, hoping he could uncover what had happened to her. But, instead, Barbara could hear her father talking on his cell phone.
"Duke, I need to call in a favour. It's regarding K9 and Ace's daughter," said James
"What is the matter, James? Is Barbara okay?" asked Duke.
"No, she has been blinded by T.C.R.I. chemicals. And the company hesitates to respond to requests. They won't even admit that these chemicals are dangerous. So I'm worried that I won't be able to get her the help she needs," said James.
"Not sure what S.I.G.I.M.A. Six could do to help Jim. We can't legally force them to disclose information. Even if we gathered information illegally, it would be inadmissible in court. We need to look for other ways to get the information we need. May not help Barbara." said Duke
"I know Jill. I want information on the chemical that destroyed her eyes to treat her," James said.
"I see what I can do, old friend; I do not promise anything. Can Lifeline check her over? His findings will be kept off the books," said Duke.
"It's okay. Barbara's doctor is an old friend who supports mutant rights," said James as he ended the phone call and returned to Barbara's room.
"Who were you just talking to, Dad?" asked Barbara
"Old army buddy, he worked with your mother before she died. I asked him to investigate T.C.R.I. to see if he could find information about the chemicals that damaged your eyes. I know I could have asked Batman to search for answers," said James.
"Are you sure you can trust him, Dad?" asked Barbara
"Yeah, Conrade and I are friends from the first Gulf War," said James.
Three Months Later
05:30 am Barbara's room
Gordon Residence, Burnside, New York City
10th September 2013
Fifteen-year-old Barbara Gordon is sitting on her bed looking at her Batgirl costume and rubbing her hand over the suit while it lies in a silver briefcase and a note written in braille.
She picked up the note, closed the briefcase, and started running her hand over the letter that read.
"Hello Barbara, I hope everything is going well for you. Others have been asking about you and hope all is well with you. I've arranged for a friend of Lucius to upgrade your batsuit to work with your enhanced abilities. In addition, I have set up a Batcave that sets up outside League records. So if you decide to return to being Batgirl again, you are ready to operate in New York with love from Alfred and the Bat-family.
"Thank you for supporting me, Alfred, but I don't think I can ever be Batgirl again, not how I originally was. I now have to convince people that I am not blind. As soon as people learn I am a superpower from Gemma, they will turn against me, and Bruce will have a strategy to take me down," said Barbara to herself.
"Hell, it's one of the reasons my Dad and I had to move to New York Gotham City Academy because they have a zero-tolerance policy for mutants enrolled in the school for health and safety reasons." Barbara.
"I know Bruce would have paid for some of the finest tutors to homeschool in the cave or with the team, but with what happened with the Failsafe mission, I can't be around them." So she thought to herself while looking at her nightstand, which had a pair of noise-cancelling headphones, a bedside lamp, an iPhone7 and a pair of ruby-tinted glasses.
"I still don't know why I have a cellphone when I can't see what the screen looks like." she thought to herself as a female German Shepherd entered the room carrying a silver cane with a Bat symbol on the handle in her mouth.
"Thanks, Ace. I will take Dad. Got breakfast ready," she asked as she stood off the bed and walked towards the bathroom, changing out of nightwear as Ace picked up the clothes and put them in the washing hamper.
She returned a few seconds later wearing a large towel wrapped around her lower body, revealing several scars covering her back.
And sat down on her bed and started to get dressed. After a few minutes, she was dressed. She was now wearing a pair of dark blue tracksuit trousers with yellow stripes at the side of the trousers, a couple of black trainers, a blue v-neck t-shirt, and a dark blue tracker jacket with a yellow line running along the shoulder to the wrist.
"How do I look, Ace?" she asked as she looked at her guide dog and picked up her glasses and put them on; then she picked up her iPhone 7, put it into her tracksuit trousers pocket, and put the watch on her right wrist.
"You know you're a lot of help, pal," joked Barbara as she picked up her cane, took hold of Ace's lease, and walked out of her room towards the kitchen.
Kitchen, Gordon Residence
Burnside, New York City, U.S.A.
When Barbara Gordon arrives, she finds her father putting two slices of bacon, beans, two sausages, two hash browns, and a glass of apple juice on a plate.
"Morning, Dad," said Barbara.
"Morning pumpkin are you ready for the first day at New School?" asked James Gordon
"Yeah, I guess so. I wish we didn't have to move to New York City because of Gemma Mason's action." Said Barbara as she ate her breakfast.
"I know you would have liked to have stayed in Gotham Pumpkin, but we need to get started following what happened with Mason trying to frame me as someone on the Rupert Throne payroll." Replied James.
"Yeah, where I accidentally killed Gill Mason, thereby ruining Gemma's life, where she now blames me for destroying her life," she said, eating more of the food while her father drank some of his coffee.
"You can't blame yourself for what happened with Gill; his actions led you to kill him in self-defence," said
"I know I shouldn't blame myself, but if I hadn't killed Gill, then Gemma would not have planted that chemical bomb in my locker that sprayed radioactive waste into my face, which destroyed my eyesight and triggered me to develop my echolocation abilities which now force me to wear noise-cancelling earphones to help me sleep well at night." Said, Barbara.
"You know, you can't be sure that if Gil hadn't been killed, Gemma would have turned into a terrorist who calls herself the Grey Ghost and even robbed a comic book shop displaying the original Grey Ghost television show." Said James.
"You mean I missed the opportunity to get the original suit from both Grey Ghost live-action shows? Gwen and I used to rush home from school to watch it together, and now I can never see it." Said, Barbara.
"I would not normally worry about the props from the show, but knowing that they are people like Quintin Beck/Mysterio and Phineas Mason the Tinkerer that can turn them into a deadly weapon," said James.
"Yeah, I know that Batman couldn't get leads on the Tinkerer he believes is a former KSI employee who may have been involved," said Barbara.
"Was Batman able to discover where he operated from?" asked James.
"No, he is constantly changing his location every month and is getting increasingly difficult to track down, but Batman and J.L.A. think he may be operating his business out of a modified food truck somewhere across Gotham." Said, Barbara.
"And there is no real way to track him down, considering every location a food truck can park and operate from." Said James.
"So how did the comic shop get a hold of the Grey Ghost costume and a classic cult suit like that?" asked Barbara.
"The star of the show, Simon Trent, was selling his collection of Grey Ghost merchandise following several disastrous business investments and being tricked by scammers with several romance frauds following the death of his wife. He is believed responsible for being near bankruptcy; the staff at Blue Falcon Comics offered to sell the stuff for him with them taking ten per cent." Said James.
"Damn, it was heartbreaking when Simon Trent announced the death of Finance. In the aftermath of Fox cancelling Grey Ghost after one season, Miranda Wilson Trent, a famous stuntwoman, I think I recalled, was trying to become a name in Hollywood. Instead, asylum's answer to James Bond and Bourne franchises was Spyhunter I," Barbara.
"Yeah, it was former Hollywood special effects artist Quentin Beck, now known by Mysterio, who had placed an explosive charge which he had fitted with the motor on Queensboro bridge. The device exploded. It brought down a helicopter that Miranda Wilson and co-Star were flying, which caused it to crash, killing the helicopter pilot, co-pilot camera crew, and Miranda Trent. All Simon could do was watch on in horror as the helicopter was burning as it lay in the river," said James
"Poor guy, I believe they never recovered their bodies," said Barbara.
"Considering the damage inflicted on the helicopter, it is unsurprising to tell you the truth. Even if Miranda Wilson survived, she is badly burned," said James.
"I guess you are right, Dad. I would've loved to see that Grey Ghost Costume, but now it has been stolen, I can't," said Barbara.
"Do you want a lift to school, pumpkin?" asked James.
"Yes, please, Dad. I'm still getting used to the sounds of New York until I focus on it, so I know my way from home to school and back again." Said Barbara
"I know I, but I would rather you to and from school considering the reports of Purple Dragon muggings," said James
"I heard news reports from Bugle, Globe and Planet that the police have begun creating the Code Blue unit to fight Metahuman criminals," said Barbara.
"Yeah, and you're looking at its deputy commissioner. I will be leading the unit alongside George Stacy. Hence I recruited Bennett, Yin, Montoya and Bullock as officers to the unit," said James.
"Congratulations, Dad. You deserve to follow what happened with Gil Mason and Coltrane," said Barbara.
James replied, "You asked how many police officers on the Mobster payroll would have stolen supervillain tech and sold it on the black market or how weapons companies would pay for them and Chitauri remnants."
"I can't believe it has been over a year since that happened when it failed to stop because of the Light's action in Brainwashing, the main reason why some may have seen an opportunity to invade. If not for Stark and the Avengers, they would have conquered us; I bet Vandal Savage and Light didn't believe someone would invade the earth and nearly bring it," thought Barbara as she finished her breakfast and drink.
She stands at the table and walks towards the front with Ace walking alongside Barbara Gordon. Her father soon follows her as he collects his police badge and jacket. As they leave the house, they see a woman placing an Anti-Justice League poster on a lamppost.
"Damn, more of those Anti-Justice propaganda posters," said James.
"Jameson did a good job of turning the people against the Justice League for their failure to stop the Chitauri Invasion; from what Clark mentioned, James Olsen was one of the Daily Planet employees killed in the attack," said Barbara.
Ace, Barbara and James Gordon walk towards a car, with James in the driver's seat and Ace and Barbara in the vehicle's back seat. After Barbara buckled up, James started the engine and drove away.
09:30 The Principal's Office
Midtown High School, Midtown, New York City.
She sat opposite Principle Jeffery Pierce, examining and reading the Gotham City Academy, while Ace sat beside her.
"I have to say I am impressed with your grades and hope you plan to keep them up," Principal Pierce said.
"I intend to follow Principle Pierce as long as I can get Braille textbooks of all my subjects, and will I be able to get my test paper in Braille?" said Barbara.
"I don't see a problem with that request. It will take a few days to get your textbook from our suppliers unless you know a speedster who can get it in a day. If you want, I can arrange a tutor to help you keep up until you receive your specialist Braille textbook." Said Principle Pierce.
"That would be fine, Principal Pierce. I want a tutor to help me keep up with the work; I am sure speedsters are all busy dealing with things more significant than delivering textbooks to former teammates," said Barbara.
"I will have Miss Gwen Stacy be your tutor as she has a similar Grade Point Average as you before you lost your eyesight; you can find her in your first class History class," said Principle Priece handing a piece of paper-covered braille.
"How's Bruce?" asked Pierce.
"He was just the same old Bruce brooding around the Cave with Alfred keeping him company and doing constant night patrols, not overly happy that I told my dad I was Batgirl after the incident with Scarecrow's fear toxin," said Barbara.
"Yeah, that sounds a lot like Bruce, to be honest. However, I don't blame you for telling your dad that you were Batgirl considering I read the report on the counselling session you had with Diniah," Principal Pierce replied.
"How are Aniasha and Jennifer doing?" asked Barbara
"Tell me how you are settling in, Barbara. Thanks to Stark's luxury apartment in Manhattan, I can easily attend Avengers meetings. I mean, it doesn't beat Boom Tubing to the satellite platform," stated Principal Pierce
Barbara Gordon ran her hand over the piece of paper, got up, and walked towards the office door with Barbara holding Ace's lead in her left hand. In addition, Barbara held her cane in her right hand.
Twenty minutes later.
History A133 Class, Midtown High School.
Barbara Gordon is standing at the front of the class with Ace sitting on her left side with the teacher, a woman in her late thirties. She had short purple hair, wore a brown suit and had a missing arm. She looked at her before turning her attention to the rest of the class, who were talking.
"You must be my newly admitted student Barbara Gordon. I am Dani Brewi, your history teacher. Gwen Stacy will escort Miss Gordon to the vacant seat next to you as Principle Pierce has requested you be a temporary tutor until the school can get her some braille textbooks," said the teacher.
Gwen Stacy walks towards the front of the class. She passes Peter Parker, Jake Long, Rose, Trixi Carter, Mary Jane Watson, and Michelle Jones before reaching the front of the course and escorting Barbara Gordon back to her seat and sitting down.
"Right, class, we will learn about what occurred on 5th February 1944. Saw New York-born and bread Sergeant Franklin John Rock's team with Sergeant Robert Steven Savage Jr and their team, the Screaming Eagles, lead a team to liberate a dual P.O.W. and Concentration camp with assistance from Captain America and the Howling Commando to capture General Blitz and His I.R.O.N. Army. Who was conducting inhumane experiments on the prisoners being held captive at the camp?" said Dani.
"What's I.R.O.N?" asked Michelle
"IRON was a unit like Red Shadow, SKAR, Cobra and Hydra tasked by Adolph Hitler himself that had them create advanced weapons that would help Nazis to conquer the world following the allied force creating the first Avengers and Captain America created but IRON leader General Blitz thought that they couldn't function any longer under Adolph Hitler's leadership and he and his IRON general turned their backs on Nazi at the same time that other factions in Nazi organisation turned against them and branded out on their own," said Dani
"So what happened to the groups?" asked one of the students.
"Following the death of Adolph Hitler and the Liberation of Berlin by the combined force of allied forces and Justice Society of America Nazi forces Cable group Red Shadow, Skar, Hydra Iron and Cobra went underground with each group occasionally causing incidents over the last couple decades with major acts caused by the Cobra organisation during the '90s. However, they slipped into hiding again when more superheroes started showing," said Dani.
"Who were the screaming eagle anyway?" asked Jake.
"The Screaming Eagle consisted of Sgt Morris' 'Mouse' Sanderson, Sgt Dwight 'Tank' Prudence, Sgt Kevin 'Headbanger' Kaye, Sgt Darren 'Grill' Filbert, Sgt Hector 'Dynamite' Garrido, Sgt Joe Colton and the final member was grandfather Sgt David' D-Day' Brewi," said Dani.
"What happened to them?" asked Barbara.
"Mouse, Tank and Headbanger were killed while serving in North Korea thanks to Hydra Operative the Winter Soldier. Grill and Dynamite were executed in Vietnam while my grandfather was in a V.A. hospital, slowly dying from an inoperable brain tumour. His story inspired me to join the army. But, unfortunately, my military career was over when during a tour of duty, my patrol vehicle got hit by an I.E.D., which killed some of my units and caused me to lose my right arm and both my legs," said Dani.
Just then, the bell rang, and the students collected their things and began leaving the classroom until only Dani was alone.
She sits down and looks at a Daily Bugle newspaper about Joan of Arc's armour and sword displayed at the National History Museum. She'd noticed some symbols on the blade and on the armour.
"Not good, a piece of cybertronian artefacts like my target master armour or Crosshair's," said Dani to herself as she folded up her newspaper, watching a Korean woman in her late twenties dressed like Sun Park. She carries two cups of Starbucks coffee and gives one to Dani.
"Thanks. So how are you settling in at Midtown High School?" asked Dani as she started drinking her Costa coffee.
"Not bad; it's a big change from when I was working at Fillmore High School," said Sun.
"Wasn't that the same school that hired Professor Hans Rotwood, who believed magical creatures were real?" asked Dani.
"That's the same guy this school board used as an excuse to close two low-performing schools after the Chiturai invasion, resigned the teacher and forced parents of Fillmore children to move," said Sun.
"I guess you were one of the teachers transferred," asked Dani
"Yeah, it was either here or New Jersey, and I don't fancy paying bridge tolls and parking in Jersey for eight hours of pay before having an extra hour in rush hour traffic to get back to my New York Chinatown apartment when I only had to pay a bus fare or train fare to get here," said Sun.
"I don't blame you, Sun; I'm using my car while waiting for my insurance company to approve the damage control finding to determine whether the Chitauri invasion caused the damage," said Dani.
"What happened?" asked Sun.
"Oh, one of Chitauri air vehicles crashed into my living room, destroying most of my furniture, and the insurance company says, as I didn't file a report until six months after the incident, they are refusing to pay for repairs; I did not tell them the reason I delayed reporting it was that I was recovering in a V.A. hospital in Germany following the I.E.D. attack on my military convoy that cost me my right arm," said Dani
"Bastards, haven't you got family you could stay with while you sort it out?" asked Sun
"No, my parents are dead. My father died six years ago following the twin towers coming down. He was a first responder. He got terminal lung and liver cancer and fought it to the bitter end. While my mother died three years later from a broken heart, I also have no siblings to speak of with my only living family, my granddad, who lives in a nursing home," said Dani
"Sorry to hear that. Can I ask for a favour, Dani?" asked Sun.
"Sure, so what's the favour Sun?" asked Dani
"Jefferson got covered for detention. Could you cover it for me as I have to cover something for a friend who is worse off than me," replied Sun.
"Sure, I could use the overtime pay," said Dani.
"Thanks, I owe you one, Dani," said Sun.
Sun leaves the room, and Dani returns to look at the newspaper when another group of students enters and takes their seats around the classroom.
Cafeteria
Midtown High School
Ace watches Barbara Gordon, who eats lunch with Gwen Stacy and Mary Jane Watson.
"So how are you settling in at Midtown High School, babs?" asked Gwen
"So far, my first day has been pleasant, nothing out of the ordinary; it's a pleasure to see you again, Gwen," said Barbara.
"So what happened with that Gemma bitch that caused you to become blind?" asked Gwen.
"A suspended sentence as there was no real evidence to show she planted the device or even made it, and it's not like my father didn't make enemies during his time as police commissioner and who Gemma was. Chances are she could claim they set her up," said Barbara
"Sounds bullshit. Doesn't Gotham City Academy have a CCTV system you could use to find evidence?" asked Mary Jane.
"They, but it turns out the school principal, Hill decided to be a cheap skate and turned the system off at the end of the school day, so from 4 pm to 7 am, the Janitor unlocks the school," said Barbara.
"Damn, so the G.C.P.D. couldn't prove that Gemma planted it," replied Mary Jane Watson.
"I think the school board was more interested after discovering that the principal, his secretary and the school janitor were stealing and upgrading the older computers, selling them at a markup price, and pocketing the money for themselves," said Barbara.
"So the reason they shut off the C.C.T.V. was to hide the fact they were selling school property," said Mary Jane Watson.
Gemma knew they were doing that. It gave her a chance to plant it while the Principal, Janitor and Secretary were making out of selling the school computers. Still, as the G.C.P.D. said, without video evidence, they couldn't prove it even if they found fingerprints on the remains of the cellphone with the device," said Barbara.
"Yeah, Gemma could easily say that someone stole her cellphone and took advantage of it," said Mary Jane Watson.
"So what did Gemma get a suspended sentence for then if it wasn't for planting the device?" asked Gwen
"Because she was making several harassing phone calls to me following her father's death, she constantly blamed me for what Batgirl did to her father and putting me as a lesbian after we broke up following the discovery that her father was working for Rupert Throne to frame my father as someone who was working for him," said Barbara.
"Damn Bitch," said Gwen.
"Yeah, so my father and I had to file a restraining order, and we moved from Gotham City to start a fresh life," said Barbara.
"I did not know you were a lesbian, Barbara," said Gwen.
"Yeah, it was after I was doing some after-school activities that I met someone on the team who I started to develop feelings for a fellow female teammate," said Barbara.
"So did you manage to kiss them to find out if they liked you back, and wasn't some random feeling you were dealing with an awful break up with Richard?" asked Gwen.
"No, she was more interested in someone else, so I left it. I didn't want to break them for a crush, so yeah, it was a month after we broke up I started dating Gemma, or it was about a week or so later we broke up after her father tried to frame my father as someone that was taking bribes from the Rupert Throne," said Barbara.
"So why did you break up?" asked Gwen
"She blamed me for what happened to her father by me giving Batman and his team information after Thorne with Mason trying to escape where he was accidentally killed by Batman's new sidekick Batgirl," said Barbara.
"How was it your fault if Batgirl was the one to kill him?" asked Mary Jane
"Gemma thinks if I had discovered the link between Mason and Throne, then her father would have been killed; Batgirl and Top, your girlfriend of three months, broke up with you; she then got her revenge on me by taking my eyesight with that chemical which I can't prove without CCTV evidence," said Barbara.
"As a result, why do you need me as a tutor while you wait for the school to acquire you some braille textbooks?" asked Gwen.
"Yeah, pretty much it; Principle Pierce is trying to get them in a hurry, but you know what the school board act means? If they don't have that many children that need them, then chances are the school is not expecting to provide them, but Pierce is planning to try and get me them as soon as possible," said Barbara.
"I wouldn't hold my breath for the school to provide you with them, seeing as the school doesn't normally have calls for Braille textbooks, seeing as the school board closed several underperforming schools. Also, I don't want to get discovered as Batgirl because criminals could use this as a get-out-of-jail card by claiming I obtained evidence for my father to bring criminal charges against them," said Barbara.
Barbara walked over to the Batcomputer and ran her hand over the keyboard to find the letters covered in braille markings. "I guess you thought of everything, Alfred. When I get home, I'll call Alfred to tell him and the team I am settling in great and learning to cope with my newfound disability.
Barbara Gordon walked over to her former Bat motorcycle and ran her hand over the bike as she felt, "Oh, how I miss using you. I don't think I am going to need this baby. I should call Stephine and see if she needs the bike; I don't think a blind superhero crashing her motorcycle into something will not look good now, will it?" she said
"Greetings, Barbara Gordon. I am Oracle; I was created to operate as Den guardian to you should you decide to return to operating as a Vigilante," said a holographic female who appeared before a shocked Barbara Gordon, with Ace barking madly at the holographic image.
"Next time, could you give a girl some warning when you appear out of nowhere? Who created you anyway?" asked Barbara as she looked at the hologram.
"My father, Lucius Fox & my mother, Dr Marion Richardson, created me to work similarly to how he helped create the J.A.R.V.I.S. system alongside Howard Stark before being recruited to work for Wayne Enterprises by the late Thomas Wayne." Said Oracle.
"What's the point of giving me an A.I. system? Why not give it to Bruce?" asked Barbara
"Simple mister Fox thought Bruce Wayne Batman has former MI6 specialist Action Man operative unit Alfred Pennyworth to support that you would need someone like me to act as your support next work. "I can access several networks to help you in the field," replied Oracle.
"Not sure I will ever be ready to get back out there to patrol the city as Batgirl," said Barbara Gordon.

"Then you know that every time I wear that costume, I freeze up and am unable to move in it; no matter what I try, even now that I'm blinded by those chemicals that Gemma stole from T.C.R.I., I still freeze up when I even try to think about wearing the suit," said Barbara.
"I have accessed the G.C.P.D. incident report filed by Harvey Bullock, who had his mutant daughter Tracer's real name, Harriet Bullock, look into the incident with her precognitive abilities," Oracle said.
"Wait, Bullock has a daughter, damn, and she's a mutant with precognitive powers," asked Barbara in shock.
"Harriet Janet Bullock, 18-year-old currently living at Xavier Institute for gifted students in Westchester, New York City, has that mutant ability to see past events, but unfortunately, the evidence is unusable to convict Gemma Mason of the assault claims as they don't buy the words of a mutant psychic," said Oracle.
"Yeah, that sounds about right," said Barbara as she picked up her cell phone and placed it into her tracksuit pocket and picked up the lead for her guide dog and started to walk towards the elevator to the surface
"Well, I can set up a Boom tube closer to your Burnside home if you like Barbara Gordon, so you don't have to journey as far to get back home," Oracle said.
"It's fine, Oracle. However, I would prefer to walk home; it will help me get the feel of the land, so if I decide to return to my vigilante career, I will know which way to go if I ever need to return to the base," said Barbara.
The girl and Ace entered, rode the elevator, arrived inside a warehouse filled with shipping containers, and walked to the door. After opening the door, she left the warehouse and walked home.

"Yeah, that's what we believe as well; now she has been employed by Dylan Gloud of Gloud Pharmaceuticals as his chief scientist. We strongly believe that Gloud Pharmaceuticals is a Cobra Operation to create an army of Supersoldiers," said Scarlet.
"So why not call the League or the Avengers to have them investigate the company to see if they can acquire proof of Cobra's possible involvement?" said Ben.
"As far as the League is concerned, they don't believe an old Nazi splinter cell survived the Second World War and is poised to conquer the world with its own Cabal," said Scarlet.
"And what about Captain America and the Avengers? Will they help investigate Dylan Gloud and his possible connection to Cobra?" Ben inquired.
"Same with the League, but this comes from the world security council; they need concrete proof that Cobra is back and could pose a real threat to the world's safety," said Scarlett.
"And with Gloud Pharmaceutical being a leading medical supplier, they are not buying the whole is a front for a major ruthless terrorist group," said Ben.
"General Flagg is looking to reinstate the Sigma Six program, and we were wondering if you and May are interested in returning to active service again," asked Scarlet.
"Scarlet, I and May would love to return to the Joes in a heartbeat, but we have family commitments in Peter and Teresa that we can't overlook with their parents. So it would be wrong for us to go out saving the world," said Ben.

Barbara Gordon is walking with her guide dog Ace when her echolocation abilities allow her to pick up the heartbeat, which is quickly followed by Ace barking madly as they are cornered by three Purple Dragons, Fong, Sid and Tsoi, blocking her path.
"Hand over your money," demanded Tsoi.
"This is low, even for the Purple Dragon to attack a blind woman," said Barbara as she tightened the grip of her walking stick.
"We won't ask you to give us your money," demanded Tsoi.
"Am guessing the Purple Dragons don't recruit its members based on intelligence," asked Barbara as they heard Sid and Fong move closer to her
"No, why do you ask," asked Fong.
"Oh, because you're threatening the blind daughter of the N.Y.P.D. police Captain of the Code Blue unit," said Barbara Gordon as Fong swiped Barbara with a butcher knife, but she dodged the attack and delivered a knockout blow.
"Kill the bitch," said Tsoi as he swung his axe at her, but she kept dodging the attacks; she used her cane and slammed him into the wall knocking him out cold Sid started to swing his sledgehammer at Barbara Gordon as she kept dodging the attacks before ace bites Sid arms causing him to drop the sledgehammer "get this damn mutt off me," he, as he struggles with Ace, continue to grab his arms.
Just before he can do anything, Sid is smacked in the face by a Hockey puck knocking him out. Casey Jones stands as Barbara Gordon picks up her guide dog lead and looks over.
"Are you okay, Miss," asked Casey
"Yeah, I am fine thanks for the assistance, kid," said Barbara.
"That's completely low for Purple Dragons to attack a blind girl," said Casey Jones.
"Trust me, and I had worse people try to hurt me before. When I used to live in Gotham, my father had me take martial arts since I was five years old," said Barbara.
Barbara Gordon walks off with her guide dog, after which Casey Jones walks off as Barbara Gordon with Ace for two hours. Then, finally, she arrives home to find Gwen and can hear her heartbeat as she sits on her doorstep.
"Hey, Gwen, what's the matter," asked Barbara.
"I stupidly left my house keys in my locker at school. I was wondering if I could stay with you," said Gwen, which Barbara noticed through her echolocation ability that she was lying.
"Do you want to come in to catch up on old times, Gwen? It's nice to see you again?", said Barbara
Barbara opened the door, entered her home with her guide dog following, and Gwen went inside the house.

"I know your mad at me, Gwen. I broke up with you after I lost my eyesight," said Barbara
"Why, Barbara, why did you break up with Gwen?" asked, "I would have supported you no matter what, but it is more shocking to learn that you are moving.".
"I understand, Gwen; I didn't want to burden you, I knew you would understand, but I didn't want you to be with me. You could do better than a blind girl," Barbara explained as she held Gwen's hand.
"I know you would think of Gwen, but I didn't want you to be with me; you couldn't do better than a blind girl," said Barbara
"You should never decide for me, Barbara, I have always liked you, and I want to be with you," Gwen said.
"I know you do too well, Gwen; I like you too. But, if you want, we can have another go at it again," asked Barbara.
"I would like that, Barbara," said Gwen as she leaned in and kissed Barbara. Barbara then kisses Gwen on the lips as well.
