Chapter Text
Honk honk *bonk*
"Oh no!" Ruby rose, six years old and a kindergarten who saw a little white fox cub got hit by a car. She climbed over the fence and ran to check on it.
"Ruby! Ruby, you get back here this instant!" Yelled her teacher. Ruby picked up the injured cub and ran back."Don't worry, Miss Kindling will make you feel all better." Ruby ensured.
The fox cub only looks at Ruby. "Miss Kindling, Miss Kindling help." Ruby Shouted as she entered the nurse's office. "Hello Ruby, what's that in your arms?" Miss Kindling asked.
"This baby fox got run over, please save it." Begged the young child. "Ruby sweetie, I can only stabilize the poor thing." Said the school nurse as she runs off to call the local vet after putting the fox cub on stabilizer.
Ruby stayed with the little fox, trying to give it comfort. "It’s okay, you're going to be okay." Ruby started to cry. Then something magical happened, because when Ruby opened her eyes she saw a girl around the same age as her with hair as white as snow, a scar on her left eye from where the car hit her, a pair of fox ears and a tail.
"Thank you for rescuing me." The fox girl said weakly. Ruby hugged her tightly causing the girl to yelp in pain. "Sorry… um… What's your name?" Asked Ruby, the fox girl replied. "My name is Weiss
"Mommy!" Ruby said excitedly. Summer rose, Ruby's mother and the best veterinarian in town. "Hi sweetheart, so where's the fox? She asked.
Weiss looked confused then realized what the veterinarian meant. "Oh you mean me." Weiss said as she shape-shifted into her fox form.
The two adults paused. "Miss Kindling, may I speak with you for a moment?" Asked Summer. The two doctors left the room to talk. "Did we just witness a little girl turned into a fox cub?" Asked Summer with disbelief. "Yeah." Replied Miss Kindling.
They looked back into the room and saw Ruby having lunch with the cub that turned back into a girl. "You don't think that she's a kitsune do you?"
Asked the school nurse.
"Jinn, Don't be ridiculous, there has to be a scientific explanation for this." Argued Summer. "We just saw a kid turn into a fox. How else can we possibly explain THAT!?!" Jinn argued back. "Okay one. She could be a kumiho. Two. she only has one tail, not 9. And finally three. This is America. Why would a Japanese and or Korean creature be here?" Summer snapped.
"Mommy, Weiss' head is starting to hurt, please help her." Cried Ruby, pointing at Weiss who's head started to bleed. "Doesn't matter this… fox child thing needs medical attention stat." Summer exclaimed.
The two doctors bandaged the young girl and then Ruby asked a question. "Hey mommy can we take her with us?" She asks, hugging her mom's leg. "Did you ask her first?" Question Summer. "Yes she did and I don’t have anywhere to go." Weiss replied, hugging Summer's other leg.
"Oh Alright but Ruby I want you to go back to class." Summer said to her daughter and then she turned around and asked. "And Weiss is it?" Weiss nodded her head. "Okay Weiss I want you to sit still for a moment, Miss Kindling and I want to check to see if there are any more injuries okay?" Summer requested.
"Yes ma'am." Weiss answered. "And if you behave well I think that Ruby and I would be your new family." Summer whispered, Weiss with stars in her eyes excitedly asked. "REALLY!" Summer only nods.
After the school has ended Ruby, Summer and their new family member Weiss traveled home in a little cottage near the woods. Weiss was about to explore her new surroundings when three dogs came out barking. One a German Shepherd police dog named Eins, the second and Corgi named Zwei and the third a war veteran Greyhound named Drei.
Weiss in a panic climbed Summer in an attempt to escape the dogs. Then a whistle sounded. "Eins, Zwei, Drei, get back here. Hello honey, *gasp* is that who I think it is? YANG MEET YOUR NEW SISTER!" Said the Woman eagerly while holding onto the dogs.
"Yes Ray-ray, yes it is. Weiss, I want you to meet Raven, your new second mother." Summer said to Weiss. "Konbanwa Youbo." Weiss said in Japanese, this made Raven's eyes lit up. "Konbanwa Weiss-chan." She replied in Japanese.
"Hello Ruby and hello… Who are you? Asked Yang, Ruby’s older sister whose arm is in a sling.
"I'm Weiss and what happened to your arm?" She asked. "Oh, a boy named Adam tried to pick a fight with Pyrrha, so I picked a fight with him and he pushed me down the stairs." Answered Yang. "Hey at least you didn't get hit by a car like I did."
Weiss replied.
"Wait, what car, did you see its license plate?" Raven asked with concern. "It was purple and with red stripes." Ruby exclaimed. Raven looked both shocked and proud. "Ruby, you just just added a new charge for an attempted hit and run." Said Raven.
"I don't think that the law would care about a fox getting run over." Weiss responded. "Fox? I thought that you were run over?" Raven said in confusion, Weiss replied with. "Yes, I've been run over as a fox. Here I can show you." Summer realized something and tried to warn Weiss. "Weiss, Don't!" But it was too late.
As soon as Weiss entered her fox form the dogs chased her up the fridge. "Did she just…" Raven was about to ask when Summer just put her finger on her mouth and said." Long story."
