Work Text:
If you asked me to describe
All of our first times
From our first date,
Where you took me to watch the stars
To our first kiss
Next to the bright light of passing cars
Or from your first complaint
About how annoying I can be
To the first early morning mist
We'd watch briefly before crawling back to sleep
Then there couldn't possibly be a more sensible group of words that I could use,
Other than the simplest, plainest "I love you",
But as these words have been expressed far too often,
I'd like to offer some more:
"I miss you"
"It's getting late
Come to bed,
The sheets are great."
"The world can spin all it wants around the sun,
but you are and forever shall be my epicenter,
The calm in the eye of the storm surrounding,
The foundation I could never bear to break.
You are the safety net,
When I'm tired, beaten and done,
One word from you and there's nothing else,
With you I'm not alone.
And as high tides change to low,
As my heart ebbs and flows,
My freedom ever-changing in its form,
You are the one ideal I hope to uphold.
Give me the permission to be your wind,
And I'll happily watch from below,
As you stretch and open your wings,
not just to fly, but soar."
And...
"If a simple kiss could ever enchant me as much as yours did,
Then I surely must be crazy,
Either for you, or the fact that I'd ever seek it from another."
