Work Text:
It was 2.00 AM.
Usually, he would be sound asleep but somehow tonight he couldn't get himself to rest; finding himself scrolling through his netflix.
A sigh escaped Taeyongs' lips.
He knew he had a schedule tomorrow morning yet he's still wide awake with no sign of getting some shut eye soon. Taeyong internally blamed it on his new room though, convincing himself that he wasn't used to the new environment.
Though, he felt like something is missing.
His thoughts travelled elsewhere, clicking onto the recommendations without even giving a second thought as the nuzzled onto his pillows with another sigh escaping his lips.
"You're still up?"
A voice weakenly squeaked, getting Taeyongs' attention immediately. Though, he did not answer.
"It's late."
"I should be telling you the same thing."
Yuta rolled his eyes and scoffed at Taeyongs' remark, as the elder gave him a small, but an obvious, smirk.
Yuta made himself comfortable on Taeyongs' bed, plopping next to him and removing the few pillows between them. The younger male peeked at Taeyongs' laptop screen, letting out an amused hum.
"I can't believe you, out of all people, would stay up watching netflix."
Taeyong grunted, offended slightly by Yutas' remark. "I can't sleep." was his simple answer.
Yuta paused, pursing his lips as his eyebrow twitched to indicate his understanding.
Taeyong clicked on a show, which Yuta recognized almost immediately.
"Again?" Yuta grumbled, tugging onto Taeyongs' blanket to make himself more comfortable.
The elder rolled his eyes, "It's a good show."
"Was," Yuta corrected, laying down on his back with his hands pressed under his head.
"Surely you have memorized it by now," Yuta teased, "Since this show keeps popping up in my notifications."
"You're still using my account?" Taeyong questioned, his eyes not leaving the laptop screen.
"Of course, sharing is caring isn't it?"
Yuta giggled when Taeyong groaned, a joking smile forming on the elders' lips as he turned towards the younger beside him. "You're such a parasite."
The comment made Yuta burst into laughter, stretching his arms out before wiggling closer towards his boyfriend and a wide, cheeky smile spread on his lips.
"You know you love me."
Taeyong opened his mouth to deny, but remembering the actions he pulled lately he knows he wouldn't have a chance to deny anything against Yuta.
In response, he lets out a dramatic and sarastic sigh, "Sadly, I do. Very much." Yuta lets out a squeak of happiness pressing himself closer towards his boyfriend. The action emitting the sound of laughter from Taeyong as the elder then leaned onto him, landed a kiss on Yutas' forehead.
They are a very affectionate couple, it wasn't a questionable manner to the others. Yuta is surprisingly shy, though it doesn't mean he's less affectionate than Taeyong; he's more of the love receiver in their relationship.
The room then filled with silence, the only source of sound was from Taeyongs' laptop
Even so, they weren't bothered by the thickening atmosphere. The presence of each other was comforting enough for both of them.
Taeyong didn't check the time, but he felt the minutes passing by.
"Hey Yong?"
Taeyong immediately turned towards Yuta, eyebrows raised. "I thought you were asleep." He murmured, placing an arm around the younger.
Yuta sighed, leaning onto Taeyongs' chest with a grumble. It didn't go unnoticed though, as Taeyong paused the show and setting the laptop away.
The elder of the two cupped Yutas' cheek with his other arm, as the younger slowly faced him.
A smile appeared on Taeyongs' lips, placing another chaste kiss on Yutas' forehead; taking in the others' scent and presence.
"Penny for your thoughts?"
Taeyong finally spoke. Although Yuta didn't do anything; he could still hear the youngers' loud thoughts.
Yuta pressed his lips into a thin line, taking in a few breaths before murmuring something that couldn't reach Taeyongs' ears directly. It didn't annoy him though, "I can't exactly hear you, y'know?" Taeyong replied, joking lightly.
"I miss you."
Taeyong didn't exactly expect this as the response.
Yuta detected the confusion on his expression immediately, explaining himself further.
"We never really had the time..." He paused, looking away from Taeyongs' gaze. "...to be together."
The words ran through Taeyongs' head, but he didn't say anything which Yuta took as a sign to continue.
"We're busy people," He mumbled, immediately putting a fullstop on his reasoning.
Taeyong understood that statement.
Both of them have busy schedules lately, in which consume lots of time and chances they have of meeting during breaks. Sure, they have their group schedules but they couldn't risk getting scolded once more for "distracting each other" if the management caught them alone together. They have some time to spend at their dorm, of course, but they both use those spare time to rest themselves for a schedule the upcoming day; and Yuta is most likely to easily be drained out.
Taeyong sensed how tired Yuta was of not having to see each other lately. He was too, but what can they both do about it?
They took their chances on camera, playing the "best friend" card as much as they could to not attract unnecessary attention. People would for it anyways.
"Y'know.." He started, getting Yutas' attention. "I sometimes wish I could get what you and Jaehyun have." He said, without thinking. It was true in a way; Jaehyun could be openly flirting with Yuta and he wouldn't have a problem. Taeyong only took his chances discreetly; in forms of touches and gestures.
"Yeah, and I wish I could have what you and Doyoung have." Yuta countered, which formed some type of feeling in his chest.
He knows both Jaehyun and Doyoung are genuinely their close friends, but he understood that jealousy isn't something they both can control.
Deep down, he knows that both of them wanted to display a high level affection like both of Doyoung and himself did; showing off their 'couple rings' and whatnot, and Jaehyun on the other hand can freely attach himself with Yuta, praising him to the high heavens; and everyone loves it and they prefer for it to be that way.
They both know deep down they wished it was them.
Taeyong grabbed Yutas' hand gently, kissing the youngers' wrist with a sigh escaping his lips.
He didn't respond to Yutas' remark, and Yuta didn't mind because they both know being jealous over something petty would be a waste of their time and energy.
Taeyong placed Yutas' hand on his cheek, turning towards the younger with a look he can't describe; but most definitely with full affection.
They love each other dearly, which isn't a lie. Yuta leaned close towards Taeyong, their lips touching lightly before the elder pressed them together in a kiss, chaste and sweet, as they both felt nothing but love for each other.
Yuta pulled away, staring into Taeyongs' eyes as a smile graced his rosy lips.
"I love you." Yuta whispered. Taeyong could feel his heart beating wild.
They aren't the type to say 'I love you' to one another, but hearing it said out genuinely by the other is another feeling Taeyong couldn't properly describe but it makes him; happy.
Taeyong landed a quick peck on Yutas' lips, before resting his lips on Yutas' forehead.
"I love you too.." He whispered, running his hand through Yutas' hair. "I love you so much.."
He felt Yuta giving his hand a squeeze, as they both drown in each others' presence; wishing that this moment could last forever, and they wouldn't have to worry about anything anymore.
Slowly, but surely, they both went to slumber; in each others' tight embrace.
Because they both know the only thing they needed now was each others' presence.
