Joe closed his eyes before letting the cold water run down his body. The cold water washes away the dirt and blood, but it also washes away the dark thoughts because the cold water serves as a vent to get all the feelings about losing Nicky for good out of his mind and body before he can talk about it.
Nicky knocked with an almost silent knock on the bathroom door after staring at it for what felt like hours.
Nicky: "Yusuf? We need to talk about what happened."
Joe: "I know. Give me five minutes more, Ya Qamar."
When Nicky hears Joe call him "Ya Qamar" he knows that it won't take five minutes before Joe will open the bathroom door and engulf him in the safety of Joe's big strong arms. They will sit like this until they are ready to talk about the mission and its events, but for now, Nicky slides down the wall and places a hand on the bathroom door before he lays his head on his knees and tries to process everything.
