Work Text:

Lucy’s POV

I don't know why I said yes to spending the night here… I mean, Tim was my TO not so long ago, I could’ve asked Nolan but when I looked into those bright and beautiful blue eyes, “no” had become an unknown word to me…

So… here I am… at his house… wearing his clothes because I couldn’t bear the thought of going back to my apartment and seeing the lifeless room of my best friend… It was just too much.

.

.

Tim’s POV

Well, here we are I guess… at my house with her looking ever so beautiful in my clothes… God knows I’d do anything to have this sight everyday, but with her wearing that precious and bright smile all over her face, instead of… having this look on her eyes

I know it may sound selfish, but when she agreed to staying with me for the night I’ve never felt happier. I mean, I know the circumstances are the worst, but the fact that she still trusts me and sees me as someone she can feel safe with, warms my heart.

3rd person’s POV

After getting ready to bed and ‘arguing’ like two idiots over who would sleep on the couch, Tim and Lucy stared at each other. They didn’t know what to say, what to feel… but finally, Bradford asks if she needs anything.

“Just the last 24 hours back…”

“I’m afraid I don’t have that power” [but believe me, I’d give up everything if it meant I could see your smile again…] - he thought, but kept it to himself.

After a few seconds, Lucy asks for a hug - regretting right after because she knows their relationship is not there yet. Or so she thought…

Without hesitation, Tim embraces her…

It felt so natural… so right… so… them…

As soon as they break the hug, losing the perfect warmth of each other, their eyes meet… so intensely and personal… so full of longing… but Tim knows this isn’t the time, this isn’t how he wants things to go, because for him, their moment will come when they both are in the right mindset, in the same place…

So, he backs down and says goodnight… but that doesn’t mean he stopped thinking about it, how he could hold her more, comfort her more, be hers more… What he didn’t know is that he wasn’t the only one left thinking…

Lucy’s POV

Okay… WHAT THE ACTUAL F**K!

NO, no no no no no, NO! THIS IS NOT HAPPENING RIGHT NOW!

IT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE A HARMLESS ATTRACTION [after all have you seen that man? Pretty hard not to see his beauty and hotness]

WHAT THE HELL!

You know what? I blame those eyes! NO! I blame the smiles I almost don’t see but that makes him so beautiful! NO! I blame that face! YEAH, that handsome and soft and near damn perfect face of his!

DAMN IT TIM!

WHY?! JUST WHY?!

I can’t believe it! I mean… I want to but… I’m not supposed to… right? I mean, it’s not like he’s my TO anymore, or that we grew closer, or that he cares about me, or… OH NO! NOOOO!

I CAN’T HAVE FALLEN FOR HIM! PLEASE NO!

What do I do now? OH MY GOD!

WAIT! Of course! I’ll just call Jacks…

Oh… right…

He’s… not here…

He’s…

he…

...

well… guess I’m alone now....

3rd person’s POV

After a few minutes thinking about everything, feeling so tired, but at the same time so restless, feeling so alone, Lucy starts considering knocking at his door.

But certain thoughts won’t leave her mind: ‘what if he is sleeping, what if he wants to be alone, what if I made him uncomfortable, what if I screwed up…’

‘I don’t wanna bother him more than I already did, so I’ll just sleep… yeah, that’ll help, I’ll wake up to a new day feeling better and everything that happened will make more sense. Yeah… I’ll just sleep’

But wanting something it’s not always getting it…

So, after 30 minutes trying to sleep, Lucy finally stands up and goes to Tim’s door. And right before knocking, he opens it… and they just stare at each other…

Without saying a word, Tim wraps his arms around her… so tightly, like he’s afraid she might disappear… and Lucy… oh Lucy… all she can do is hug him back and cry… cry like she didn’t even noticed she needed [but that’s the effect Tim has on her, he makes her see and feel everything she needs without saying a word… maybe that’s why she lo… well, adores him].

They stay a few minutes like that, just taking each other in… until Tim let’s go and takes her hand. At that moment they didn’t fight it, they just blamed on how tired they were and moved on to the bed.

Lucy noticed Kojo’s photo on the nightstand…

“I knew you loved him”

“Yeah well… he’s alright… a good hiking buddy that’s for sure”

“Oh yeah, that I can imagine”

“Maybe you should came with us one day, you know… for a better picture of it”

“Yeah, I’d love that… thanks” [for everything] - she was going to add, but it felt too much

“Of course”

After that, they just laid down and tried to sleep… but Lucy’s thoughts still wouldn’t let her… every time she closed her eyes, that sick image of her best friend falling into the trunk would sneak into her mind…

Feeling the movement by his side, Tim just turns and puts his arms around her again, pulling Lucy closer to him, always without saying anything [after all, it’s not like they needed to talk to understand each other… they just did]

Around 4 a.m. Lucy wakes up… she wasn’t scared or anything like that… at least not after she felt him by her side.

“Hey… you awake?”

“Yeah… I guess not… look, just… thank you… like, for you know… being you… I guess”

“I mean… thank you for being there, here… God I suck at this… just… thank you for being my safe place, my shield, my anchor, my TO, my… Tim… wow that came out wrong… well, sort of…”

“thanks” - she said after a few seconds, barely audible.

“Lucy, I Just want you to know that... you still got me”

… “promise?”

“Yeah, I promise”

“Always?”

“Always… and forever”

“Now go back to sleep, please”

“Yeah… of course, night Tim”

“Night Lucy”

And they stayed like that… just how they belonged… in each other’s arms.
