Eren huffed as he laid in bed that night. Levi who was still working at his desk looked over and said “What are you huffing and puffing about over there.”
Eren rolled over to look at Levi. “We should tell everyone that we’re dating.”
It was Levi’s turn to huff. “You know why we can’t.”
Eren rolled his eyes “That’s bullshit and you know it there are no rules saying scouts can’t date each other.”
“I’m not having this conversation again I told you I don’t want everyone up in our business once this gets out nobody will leave us alone especially that four-eyed freak Hange.”
Eren turned his back on Levi and blinked away tears. It was so frustrating he and Levi had been dating for almost two years in complete secret. He was tired of sneaking around stolen kisses when nobody was watching or little touches under tables. Eren wanted to share his love. He knew Levi loved him as much he loved him and he wanted everyone to know it! He wanted everyone to see their love and know that they are both completely off-limits.
“You know acting like a brat won’t get you anywhere…..”
Eren closed his eyes pretending to be asleep. Levi came over and kissed his cheek “Good night love.”
The next morning during breakfast Eren must have had a sour look on his face because all of his friends looked at him worriedly. “Eren is everything ok” Armin started.
Mikasa put her hand against his forehead “Do you feel sick?”
“God stop babying him, Mikasa!” Jean cried.
Sasha reached for his uneaten breakfast Mikasa smacked her hand away. Eren gave a small smile as his friends bickered back and forth.
“Guys don’t worry about me I’m just thinking about the upcoming mission.”
Armin patted his back “Eren don’t worry it’s a routine mission. We are just going outside the walls to see where some more outposts should go.”
Eren smiled and opened his mouth to reply but Levi came up and said “Breakfast time is over you little shits it’s time to get to work. Everyone head outside.”
They all stood up and walked towards the training area. Levi stopped Eren “Hang back a second.”
Eren really wasn’t in the mood. “I didn’t like our conversation last night. I’m sorry but I just don’t feel like telling everyone. We have a good thing going and once it gets out everything will change.”
Eren pushed past Levi “Yeah it could change for the better.”
“What did the captain want?” Armin asked when Eren jogged up to his friends.
“Ah, you know the usually telling me I did a shitty job cleaning last night.”
Jean, Connie, and Sasha all laughed. He shoved Jean and soon everyone was laughing and joking around. “That doesn’t look like work!” They heard Levi yell.
That night Eren stayed in his own room. Normally he would sneak into Levi’s room after lights out but tonight he was too pissed and didn’t want to fight. He tossed and turned the whole night.
“Oh great,” Jean groaned at breakfast. “Looks like the captain is in one of his moods.”
Eren looked up and saw Levi walking into the dining all with a scowl. Eren ignored him but throughout breakfast, he could feel Levi’s eyes staring daggers at the back of his head.
Eren had been avoiding Levi which he knew wasn’t the best idea because the more he avoided him the more pissed Levi got. He knew he should say something before the mission and makeup, you never know what could happen on these missions but Eren was holding out that Levi would make a spontaneous love confession in front of everyone. It never happened he hadn’t talked to Levi in a few days and the mission was tomorrow. “Leave it to me to fall in love with the most stubborn man on the planet,” Eren whispered to his pillow.
As they rode off on their horses Eren noted that he and Levi were in different groups. Panic gripped Eren he hated not being able to see Levi what if he needed him! What if he needed to protect the man he loves. The mission was going exactly how Armin explained. They were in groups of 5 and expected to scout out potential outposts. In Eren’s group were Jean, Connie, Sasha, and Armin. Levi was with Mikasa ,Krista, Ymir, and Reiner.
Eren and his group were riding out by a big forest. “Right at the edge of the forest should be a good spot!”Armin called out. “Let’s stop and mark it.”
The 5 of them stopped and got off their horses to mark the place on the map. Eren stretched and looked around it was quite a little too quiet. Eren noted that Sasha had that intense look on her face, the face she made whenever she heard something coming. Connie opened his mouth to say something when suddenly 2 titans came running towards them. “Shit!” They are jumped back on their horses. Eren called Jean to fire off a signal flare.
“Come on it’s only 2 we can take them! Let’s spilt up!!” Connie shouted. They all agreed.
Eren and Jean took the titan on the right and Armin Connie and Sasha headed towards the one on the left. Both Titans went down without issue. Eren called the rest of the group to go on ahead,he’d double-check the area to make sure there were no more surprises and that he’d be right behind them. Of course, the universe loves to surprise him a third much faster titan came running out of the forest before Eren could even scream the titan was on top of him. The titan picked him up by the horse and threw them both against a tree. Eren heard Armin and Sasha scream his name. His world went black.
The first thing Eren felt when he came to was pain. His head was throbbing, he couldn’t open his eyes. His back and legs felt like they have been chewed up. He heard a distorted voice calling his name he slowly opened his eyes and realized he’s in the infirmary. Hange’s face popped into his line of vision. “Ah, there he is! Welcome back to the real world.”
“What happened.” Erens voice was low and cracky.
“Ah! You had quite the spell, my young friend! An abnormal titan picked up you and threw you headfirst into a tree! You’ve been out for a day and a half.”
“Oh,” Eren tried to sit up. “Ah, my head is killing me.”
“Hold up sweetie, Let me check you out it will be easier now that you’re awake.” Hange checked him out “Congratulations it seems like there is no head trauma and your body is healing nicely.”
Head trauma hmmm what an interesting idea. “Hange can you do something for me?”
“Eren you know I’ll do anything for you!” Eren smiled he had the perfect plan.
“Hange I need you to tell everyone that I had a serious head injury and have amnesia.”
“Why would you want me to lie?”
Eren smiled “Hange can you keep a secret?”
“For you Eren I’ll keep 2 secrets!” He told them everything. How he and Levi had been dating, how Levi refused to pronounce his love to everyone, and how he was fed up with lying to everyone he wanted everyone to know how I love they were. Hange was vibrating with excitement by the end “I can’t believe you’ve been dating and told no one! But I’m still uncertain as to why lying has anything to do with your situation…..”
“Hange with my amnesia I’ll have forgotten that I’m dating Levi and maybe he’ll realize what we have is real. And he’ll want me back.”
Hange smiled evilly “Why Eren was an evil little mind you have. I’m in!! I never get to mess with Levi!”
Eren smiled “Thanks Hange you’re a real friend.”
Later Hange allowed Armin and Mikasa to see him. Both had tears in their eyes and shouted. “Eren! You scared us!” “I had to carry your limp body back to the carts!”
“I’m sorry Mikasa I swear it came out of nowhere!”
Suddenly Levi burst into the room looking flustered “Oh Captain! I didn’t expect to see you!”
Levi looked confused and a little sad. Eren had to fight back a smile. “Eren I’m your captain. I have to make sure you’re ok.”
“I’m fine Captain I swear. I have Mikasa and Armin to take care of me!”
Levi frowned “Ackerman, Arlet you’ll be late for dinner. You to are dismissed.”
Mikasa and Armin left ablet unwilling. Once they were alone Levi was immediately at his side “You can drop the act it’s just us. Are you ok? Don’t think you can get out of having a serious conversation just because you are in the infirmary.”
This might be harder than Eren thought it would be. Eren curled up into his body and sunk away from Levi “Wa... what do you mean drop the act? Are you mad at me did I do something wrong?”
Levi just stared at him “Stop fucking around I’m being serious and you’re being a brat.”
“Captain, I swear I have no idea what’s going on! I swear whatever I did it’s probably Jean’s fault.”
Levi raised his eyebrows “Wait a minute Eren what year is it. What was the last mission we went on? Where are you? Do you know what your mother’s name is?”
Eren made tears gather in his eyes “I…. I…. Don’t remember.” He made his lower lip wobble “Everything is kind of a blur!”
Levi turned around and yelled for Hange to come back in. “Hange he says he doesn’t remember anything!”
“Ok ok let’s calm down Eren I’m going to ask you what you do remember ok?”
“Ok um, let’s see I’m Eren Yeager my best friends are Armin and Mikasa. I can turn into a titan I’m in the survey corps and Captain you’ve been ordered to kill me if I ever get out of control.”
Levi and Hange both looked at each other. “That’s good Eren! You should rest I’ll have some bring you something later alright?”
Outside of the infirmary Levi and Hange talked. “What the fuck is wrong with him?!”
“Levi he suffered a head injury which most likely knocked his brain around. With a type of injury like this, I wouldn’t be surprised if he lost some memories.”
“What the hell! How do we get them back?”
“Unfortunately not much is known about head injuries and amnesia that usually comes with them. We just have to wait and see. It’s probably best to let the memories come back naturally we don’t want to overload his brain.”
Levi sighed “Ok.”
“I know it will probably be hard but think it is probably way harder on Eren! Imagine waking up and finding out you missing great big chunks in your memory!!”
Levi frowned and looked back at the infirmary door. Shit
It had been a few days since Erens memory loss and honestly, it was probably the best idea Eren’s ever had. Levi would give him stare at him longingly. It almost felt like the beginning of their relationship expect Eren wasn’t the one trying to get Levi’s attention.
“How do you feel today Eren. Has anything else came back?” Armin was the most interested in his memory loss asking every morning if any of his memories returned.
“Um, I don’t know? It’s honestly like the last few years are just blurry. It’s super frustrating.”
Mikasa patted his back “It’s ok Eren just take your time. You remember enough, don’t stress yourself out.”
Eren smiled “Thanks.” He felt eyes boring into the back of his head and turned to see Levi starring at him sadly.
He quickly turned back to his friends. “Did I do something to piss the captain off? He keeps starring at me with a weird look.”
His friends all shrugged. “He probably hates that you forgot all the cleaning skills he taught you,” Jean replied. “I can still clean better than you horse face even though my memories are gone!”.
Eren needed to speed things up. Levi wasn’t making any moves. Eren needed to do something to force Levi’s hand.
In bed that night, He thought back to when the scouts went to town for the market and he and Levi were able to escape and just walk through the market hand in hand. But then someone started hitting on Eren, he had never seen Levi act so quickly immediately coming up and pulling Eren into a rough kiss and told the poor market employee that if they even looked at Eren again he would break every bone in their body.
Eren smiled that’s it! I need to make him insanely jealous!
He will start the second part of plan to make Levi publicly confess will commence tomorrow.
At breakfast, Eren looked around to find the perfect flirting partner. Erwin? No. Miche? No. Historia definitely not Ymir might kill him.
“Hey, guys” he started. “Did I ever date or seem interested in anyone?”
Jean and Connie laughed obnoxiously “No! we all thought you cared more about killing Titans than dating.”
“Why would you say that Eren?” Mikasa questioned. Eren looked at Levi’s table he was staring at Eren again he knew he was listening to their conversation.
“I don’t know I feel like there is someone missing from my life but I can’t figure it out.” He saw Levi choke on his tea.
Mikasa frowned “You never said you were dating anyone, trust me Armin and I would know if you were.” Eren smiled.
Across the dining hall, the table of the newest recruits started making a ruckus. Eren saw Floch standing up and arguing with someone. Perfect he’d been told by Armin, Jean, Connie, and even Levi that Floch was always looking at him. Staring at his ass. He even once overheard Floch saying how badly he wanted to fuck him. Floch was the perfect subject.
After breakfast when he was walking to the training grounds he made sure to bump into Floch and say “Oops I’m so clumsy.” And bat his eyelashes. Floch blushed and stuttered out “I..I... it’s fine. I like clumsy.” He could have sworn he heard Levi growl.
In addition to flirting with Floch, Eren made sure to wear his tightest pants and bend over whenever Levi was around. One night at dinner he loudly announced to his friends “I think I’m going to ask out Floch he’s super sweet. And good-looking.” He heard a crash and looked over to see Levi sitting in front of a broken teacup.
Eren doubled down. The next night he asked Floch to sit with him and his friends during dinner. “Wa, wait seriously!! Of course!”
“Dude are you sure your brain is working” Jean whispered to Eren when Floch joined them. Eren shrugged “I like Floch” Connie groaned.
Eren flirted loudly enough with Floch throughout dinner so Levi could hear. Time for the finale.
Eren turned to Floch “Hey so I’ve been having fun talking to you this week and…..” before Eren could finish his sentence he heard Levi standing up and yelling “That’s it!”
Levi was suddenly forcing Eren around to face him and knelt down in front of him. Levi reached for his hands. “Eren I can’t take it anymore. Remember a few weeks ago when you said that you felt like someone was missing in your life? Well, it was me. Eren you have to remember we were dating. God, we were in love! Don’t you remember you would corner me every night begging me to give you a chance? It took a while but I finally agreed. Eren I love you more than anything else I’m this whole entire shitty world. Please I was such an idiot. I should have agreed with you before your accident you were right I hate having nobody know about us. You belong with me and only me. And I’m ready for the world to know. I miss you I feel like I’m missing a part of me. Please please tell me you remember I’ll do anything I’ll wait any amount of time just be mine again!!”
Eren was tearing up all during Levi’s speech he threw his arms around Levi. “Of course. I remember now! I knew something was missing! It was you!” He kissed Levi on the lips. Levi picked him up and spun him around.
“Thank god.”Levi didn’t stop kissing him.
Eren laughed “Yes! Yes, it was always you!”
Levi rolled his eyes “I should have done this weeks ago.”
Everyone in the dining hall was silent watching the scene unfold. Hange stood up as well and shouted “Finally!! Good god, I didn’t know how much longer I could lie to you Levi!” Levi looked behind Eren to stare at Hange
“WHAT!?!”
Hint almost everyone knew they were dating they weren’t as sneaky as they thought. They just liked seeing them suffer
