"PAPA!" Patton all but screamed from in the living room, causing Logan to rush in as fast as he possibly could. Of course, it was just the child being dramatic, and there was nothing wrong. He was sat on the floor in front of the TV with It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown playing. Virgil was sat on the couch, looking even more worried than Logan felt but seemed to calm down as soon as Logan entered.
"Papa!" Patton said again but at a reasonable volume this time. "I know what I wanna be for Halloween!"
Both parents sighed in mild relief.
"What's that, kiddo?" Virgil asked, sliding off the couch to kneel by the child.
"I wanna be a witch like Daddy!"
Logan and Virgil shared a look of confusion, and the former could only manage to bluntly state, "Your father isn't a witch, Patton."
Patton rolled his eyes and rambled, "Yeah, he is! He wears spooky clothing all the time, and people give him weird looks, and he makes me soup, which is basically a potion."
Logan couldn't deny the first point, and the second was technically true but not for the reason Patton thought. The third point was complete nonsense, but--
"I mean, fair enough." Virgil shrugged and leaned back against the couch.
"But you're not--"
"Shhhhhh." Virgil pointed at the TV. "The movie is still on."
Patton laughed, and Logan gave his husband a very unimpressed look, but he ultimately sat down on the couch to join his family.
