“I have to do the whole thing blindfolded,” Keigo snapped, sending feathers around the corner to take down another robot. Miss Rabbit Girl kicked a chunk of debris at a robot’s head that knocked it backwards and smashed it.
“Why? Got something to prove?” Her voice sounded a bit snappy now.
“Because it’s fused to my face!” Keigo shouted, his wings quivering. Miss Rabbit Girl stared at him for a moment.
“Oh.”

Hawks saw this assignment for what it was: An opportunity. He’s been going around in circles trying to find a way to escape, and everything leads to the same thing: recalibration training at best, and a slow death at the hands of the commission at worst. They are not expecting him to survive, he just needs to play that to his favor. He has never given the Commission a reason to doubt his loyalties, he can’t afford to unless he knows he’ll come out on the other side. So until then, he'll keep pretending everything is fine, that the food he eats doesn't taste like saw dust, that everything isn't dull around him and that he isn't so achingly lonely that he would do just about anything to feel like he belonged.Series

Summary
Keigo was a caged beast that ran off of hunger and fear. His entire life was spent empty and alone. When the HPSC no longer had a use for him, he'd expected it to be over. The HPSC did not keep useless hawk hybrids around. He hadn't considered that they'd ever sell him, though.
Touya's life was just one big downward spiral that seemed to never end. Everything was always falling apart at the seams. He couldn't tell where everything went wrong, exactly, but if he had to guess, it'd be sometime around when he had given up on becoming a pro hero and given up on his father caring.
Shouto has a laundry list of questions that he needs answers to. Ever since he'd started at UA, he'd been noticing more and more details that were just off. Mom hadn't let anybody visit her in years and while Shouto knew better than to trust his father, it felt wrong when the man didn't have a single answer for him.
Enji just wants to do a single good thing for once in his goddamn life.

The wolf staggers back, and it looks around the clearing. Ten men lay dead or dying, some with gruesome wounds, guts piled outside their bodies, steaming in the cooling air.
For some reason, it looks to Ed, whose face is pale. He's shoved Stede half behind him and has withdrawn a dagger of polished silver. His expression is grim and resolute.
The wolf tucks its tail between its legs, whines, almost like it's frightened. It continues to stand guard over Lucius, protecting him from an attack that will never come. Its sides heave.
“Hey puppy,” Lucius says stupidly, uneasily trying to scoot himself back, “easy there.”
The wolf snaps his head around and stares at Lucius. His eyes are wide and wild, but there's a glimmer of something familiar there. Lucius can't figure out why. There's a tiny speck of black high on the wolf's face, under his eye. It almost looks like an x. Next to the spot is blood, and Lucius isn't sure whether it's from someone else, or from the deep scratches across the wolf's muzzle. Some of them are jagged and have torn bits of flesh around the edges.
The wolf flinches when Lucius moves."
