“I want to touch the sun,” Hinata said with wide shimmering eyes. “I want to go higher than anyone has ever gone before.”
“I can make you touch the stars,” Y/N said, and he gently smiled. “You can mess with the constellations however you please.”
Hinata went silent for a moment as he stared up at Y/N, who was seated on the moon. Y/N was used to the pauses he received when anyone spoke to him. It was rare for anyone to speak to him, because only those with the biggest desires ever noticed him as his feet dangled off the crescent moon. They typically commented on the soft tune he hummed and somehow ignored how he was perched on top of the moon.
“Don’t you want to see the sun?” Hinata asked, and he tilted his head. His shimmering brown eyes were now filled with curiosity.
Y/N stopped swinging his legs as he froze. He had never been asked that question before and wasn’t sure if he really had a valid answer. When he made eye contact with Hinata, he smiled again.
“I’ve seen her once before, but only very briefly.” The Solar Eclipse. It had only been mere minutes they had been able to say hello. His eyes still burned. “She’s too bright for my liking. Her hair made of fire, and eyes are honey colored and full of passion. I prefer the night where things are calm and cold.”
“What if you could meet her again?” Hinata jumped as he spoke. Excitement coursing through him. “What if I could make you want to touch the sun?”
“Then there would be no moon. A world without a moon isn’t a world at all.” Y/N ran his fingertips over the rocky texture of his home. “You still want there to be a world, right?”
Hinata nodded and Y/N started to see the resemblance between Hinata and sun with how brightly they shined. Maybe they were somehow related and he was trying to get home without even knowing it. The sun was bright and had burned Y/N the last time he had met her. Maybe Hinata would too with his bright, messy ginger hair.
“But I want to touch the sun with you.” Hinata messed with the hem of his shirt. “I want you to show me how.”
He was going to set the moon on fire. He was going to let Y/N ignite and burn in a way he had never done before and would never be able to do again. Y/N had always thought the sun had been the most compelling thing in the universe because every object in the solar system loved her. Hinata was changing his mind about that though.
Hinata’s bright amber eyes were looking up into Y/N’s silver ones. He was serious. He wanted to use the moon to meet the sun, and Y/N was going to let him do it.
“Okay, but you have to wait until the morning. I must tell my brother to come sit for me while I’m away.”
“I didn’t know the moon had a brother!” Hinata yelled, and excitement was deeply embedded into his voice. Y/N chuckled as he nodded.
“He’s training to become the moon for when I eventually leave.”
“Where will you be going?”
Y/N’s gentle smile turned into an amused one. Humans were always so full of questions and believed they deserved every answer. It was cute sometimes, but annoying other times. It was cute with Hinata though.
“Don’t worry about that right now. Just meet me here in about five hours. “Hinata grinned at Y/N’s words. “Dress nice because you’re going to meet the sun.”
