Im Nayeon Confirmed To Be Alongside Minatozaki Sana To Star In New Romantic Film
The internet broke.
And unfortunately, so did her phone.
[Jeongyeon, 4:34pm]: IS IT TRUE???
[Jeongyeon, 4:34pm]: PICK UP THE PHONE
[Jeongyeon, 4:34pm]: I CALLED YOUR MANAGER
[Jeongyeon, 4:35pm]: WHAT THE HELL NAYEON
[Jeongyeon, 4:35pm]: IM NAYEON WHAT THE HELL WERE YOU THINKING?
[Momo, 4:36pm]: ?????
[Tzuyu, 4:39pm]: I don’t know about you but can I call dibs on front seat tickets already? Anyway, good luck with shooting.
[Mina, 4:40pm]: Just talked to Sana, what were you two thinking? This is a bad idea!
[Jihyo, 4:41pm]: You have a lot of explaining to do. I’ll leave the scolding to my fiance.
25 missed calls, 112 more text messages, and an absurd amount of notifications on her various accounts but mainly on Twitter. A few hashtags were starting to trend.
Nayeon decided to post a selfie trying to calm the fans down. With a caption really excited for what’s in store 🎬
@SweetSattang: @MinatozakiSana, sweetie, blink twice if you need help.
| @SweetSattang: I counted. guys, She’s asking for help!
@NayeonNabongs: Nayeon's obviously lying. burn X entertainment to the ground they're forcing our baby to LIE
#SaveNayeon
#FreeNayeon
@ImNayeonStan: Who forced her to do this? Sana is TERRIBLE
| @SanaStan29: pls. i just read your name as im nayeon satan
| @ImNayeonStan: sana stans getting bold when you call her sattan-g but go off ig
@Shibasana12: since when did nayeon stans get this brave thinking they could badmouth our sweet angel like that. nayeon is obvs using her for clout.
| @NabongsBunnie: where do sana stans get this boldness to call nayeon attention seeker. they should focus more on not letting sana’s little show flop
Safe to say Nayeon wasted four whole minutes of her life scrolling through an endless sea of hate tweets and reactions between the fans. Nayeon was fully aware of the ongoing feud her fans had with Sana’s for years now.
It was ridiculous, it was not like they were both in the exact industry to have a lot of interactions to have this amount of hostility among the fans. They had little to no interactions to base this quarrel from. So at first, she did nothing to address the issue and continued to ignore it, but as time went by, her fans were still convinced. The only evidence they have was a few moments of them distancing on red carpets events and maybe a five-second clip of Nayeon allegedly cringing when Sana was accepting an award on stage, but to be fair Sana was doing aegyo and Nayeon was only human.
~~~
Nayeon met her sooner than she had ever expected.
A lot sooner actually.
“W–watch the hell where you're walking!”
Nayeon could barely register the person’s voice. It was familiar but with only an hour's worth of sleep, because of filming for her next music video. Her mind’s dire need of caffeine. Her brain wasn’t expected to function just yet. Especially now that her coffee spilled across someone’s shirt.
“You’re one to talk, try to not run at the halls next time–” Nayeon could barely stop herself from replying, she endured the ten-minute queue inside the coffee shop and a few gawking paparazzi to get her much needed caffeine, only to be ruined by this person.
Sana.
Both went mute.
All the thought-out insults she prepared when she finally meets her goes out of the window. She has been dreading the day they need to meet, but she wasn't expecting to see her this soon. It’s three weeks earlier than when their shooting will start. Nayeon thought she still had time to prepare herself for this, the truth was maybe she never will.
“You're in luck we’re out in public,” Sana said, voice inherently calm for some who had a huge brown stain across her outfit. “Because if we weren’t, I'd have left you a red handprint on your left cheek by now.”
Nayeon has still not found words and gathered her thoughts. Years' worth of anger was floating in her head to make a single reply.
But Sana took delight in her lack of words, and that was enough for Nayeon to finally reply.
“Wouldn’t want to ruin your precious reputation now. Don’t we, Minatozaki?” Nayeon spat on her words with venom, fist closed with so little restraint.
Her phone rang again, but this time, so did Sana’s too.
"As much as I want to trade insults with you like we're high schoolers again, I don't have the time nor energy for you. Besides, we played that game before and no one won."
By the time she looked up, Sana was walking away.
Left with no goodbye. Just like five years ago. Nayeon ignored the dozens of messages she got from her manager, not caring if they were urgent nor if they were important.
[Nayeon, 9:41am]: Jeong, I just saw her.
[Jeongyeon, 9:42am]: How’d it go?
[Nayeon, 9:42am]: I hate her.
~~~
"Nayeon, everyone's mad. You better come to this meeting as soon as possible,"
Her manager is going crazy, ringing her phone like it was some sort of beeper she is calling for an emergency meeting. All she can do is watch as Sunmi panics about her reputation for her.
"Nayeon, the company might consider terminating your contract–"
"I know, I know," Nayeon says, face scrunching up with annoyance at her agency for being unreasonable. "Just tell them I'd do anything to cover this huge mess up."
It's a huge promise. A big patch to try and hide this scandal. She needs to try everything for this to work.
"But Nayeon, that would mean you have to–”
"Tell the company, I'll go through with it. I'll sign the damn contract. Just please, try and do everything you can to cover this up."
One minute she's enjoying everything her idol life can offer, the next she is about to face an ex she has been avoiding meeting for the last five years.
“Nayeon, I did what you asked. I consulted your lawyers and there’s no other way through it on your part,” Her manager looked tired, and she felt guilty for making Sunmi go the extra mile for her.
“What do you mean on my part ?”
She heard Sunmi sigh for the fifth time today, “The lawyers read through your contract and there’s no way you can back out with the producers suing you and making you look bad... but they also read Sana’s contract.”
Nayeon’s ears perked up at the name, it still left a bitter taste in her mouth and everyone in the room could see that.
“Apparently, her contract doesn’t have the same clause about backing out as yours do. She can still decide to pull out from her involvement if there are schedule issues with her prior commitments as long as shooting hasn’t started yet.”
“So you’re saying Sana has the power to cancel this whole thing?”
“Uhm yes and no,” Sunmi answered, skimming through the endless supply of paper scattered through her desk. “Does she have that clause in her contract? Yes, but she still needs to provide proof it would affect her other projects in doing so. It’s a long shot because we’re also assuming her agency doesn’t have any power in forcing her into all these projects.”
Nayeon clenched her fists while attempting to keep her expressions neutral. Refusing to let it show how this particular woman could still have power over her emotions, even if that emotion was only making her want to scream and make tantrums like a toddler.
“Nayeon, I love you, but as your manager I know it’s not in your full interest in resisting what the agency wants,” Sunmi put both of her hands on her. “I know you hate it, but this is the best for everyone.”
~~~
"If you want me to leave, then it sucks for you because I'm staying.” Sana crossed her arms, sitting prettily looking pretentious and prim. Sunmi called her earlier today and told her she managed to arrange this meeting.
They were out in some cafe, she could see a few cameras through the window. Nayeon's manager only agreed to arrange this as long as they'd meet in public and Nayeon promised she’d be on her best behavior.
“Then why did you even agree to meet in the first place?” Nayeon picked up her cup, her palms itching to just pour the hot coffee on her, just to erase the stupid smug look off her face.
“I don’t know,” Sana pretended to bark down with laughter as the camera flickered in the background, Nayeon could only grit her teeth. “I half expected you to use me for the headlines. You know, for publicity.”
Nayeon refused to let Sana play her like this, she knew how to handle the cameras too. Never one to back down, Nayeon forced down a bright smile and abruptly scooted closer. Which momentarily stunned Sana at the sudden proximity. Nayeon leaned closer as she raised her phone. She opened her camera and snapped pictures not even waiting for Sana to pose.
Can’t wait to spend more time with @MinatozakiSana soon. #ShootingSoon #CantWait
She internally cringed as she typed the caption, only the knowledge of knowing Sana will be irked with the unflattering angle, she was able to post it.
"What do you think you're doing?"
"Playing my part," Nayeon flashed a smile, for the first time since she sat down. This was the only genuine smile among the dozen she had faked in the past hour. "If you're remotely decent as your delusional fans claimed to be. I expect you to do the same."
Nayeon reclined her back and enjoyed how Sana furrowed her brows. "You can criticize me all you want just leave my fans out of it."
"Okay sure, it's not like you have a lot of it,"
“Go to hell," Sana said, the low register of her voice was the clear indicator she's getting into her nerves. Nayeon could see how Sana struggled to keep a straight face. She could have fooled anyone but her. "Go to hell, Im Nayeon."
“Don't be too excited, we’ll arrive there sooner or later.”
If she couldn't make Sana back down, then at least she needed to try to make her life a little worse day by day.
~~~
“By some miracle, you ended up doing the high road,” Her manager entered across her dressing room. Sunmi signaled for her make-up artist to leave and let them talk. The staff placed the lip gloss down the vanity table and did a quick look to check if her work was done. Nayeon was finally allowed to move and glanced at her beaming manager across the table but not before she smiled and mouthed a quick thank you to Haseul as she eventually closed the door.
“What are you talking about?”
“I’m talking about this,” Sunmi held her phone up, showing her earlier post with Sana. “I half-expected you two to explode. I prepared a few official statements and had our PR team on standby for any more scandals.”
“That post was only to annoy her,” She heard Sunmi sigh, which Nayeon ignored. She continued to rise from her seat to do a quick twirl to check her outfit from the vanity mirror in front. She was minutes away from performing and doing an interview. She couldn’t have her manager distract her now.
“Sunmi, don't even try to tell me to take the high road. There's traffic there.”
“I can’t believe I'm telling you this but, I was about to tell you to keep doing it. You got half a million new followers on Instagram, you’re the most searched idol on Naver at the moment, even your name is trending on Twitter right now.”
Nayeon furrowed her eyebrows with this new information, she unlocked her phone and checked her profile. She gained almost a million followers in just hours. Her notifications were insane. She also opened her Twitter and Sunmi was right she was trending and so was Sana.
@NayeonsBunny: @EntertainmentX, NAYEON DESERVES BETTER. QUIT FORCING HER TO MAKE FAKE POSTS. LET NAYEON ESCAPE FROM THIS PRISON.
@BunnyNabongs: guys, this is obviously a PR stunt. Remember that video where she cringed when Sana was accepting an award? Her company is forcing her with this!
Nayeon broke into a grin reading the ridiculous tweets, some fan even made a Twibbon for #FreeNayeonMovement. New tweets kept appearing and the various reactions from tons of fans.
@PurpleSana: why are the rabbit stans acting like Nayeon is the victim here? Sana’s back is CARRYING this whole film. How can we expect Nayeon to act when she even forgot her mic when she was lip syncing.
| @BlueNayeonie: That was ONE time. Shut up.
| @PurpleSana: Stop dragging Sana’s name and I might.
@Queentozaki: Rabbit stans are furious. Go check your faves Instagram, she’s using Sana’s fame to gain followers.
| @ImNayeonStan: Nayeon won artist of the year 3 times in a row. Quit embarrassing yourself.
| @Queentozaki: Sana won 2 Oscars for Love Me Not.
@SanayeonShipper01: I think they make a cute couple. #SaNayeon #Cute
| @NabongsBunnie: satan stans, claim your delusional kind
| @SweetSattang: we don’t claim them
“Sanayeon,” Nayeon read the word out loud, wrinkling her nose in disgust. It feels so wrong. Only two letters were added to her name but she can’t stand uttering it again. She looked up at her seemingly amused manager who was spectating her reactions.
“Whether you like it or not, everyone is talking about you and Sana right now,” Sunmi stated, “At this point, accept the fact that you won’t have any peace for the next few months.”
~~~
“Well, good for you, I guess you moved on really easily,” The guitar riffs died down, she made her ending pose and tried to catch her breath as she fixated on the camera ahead, wishing this was the right camera filming her.
The host applauded and went into the frame, hopping back on the stage closing the moment as they informed a commercial break. The red blinking lights of the cameras faded and Nayeon released a breath of relief. Her personal make-up artist, Haseul, rushed forward and checked her hair and make-up. The staff quietly set up the seats. The hosts stayed in their position, doing the exact same thing. Everyone inside the studio was doing their own thing. In the short amount of time they’re shoving every task they need to do before the commercial break ends.
Just when the studio was back on air, everyone was back into place and displaying a smile comfortably on their seats.
“Nayeon, what you just performed is your new lead single. Good 4 U, am I correct?” Nayeon nodded, as the host continued his monologue. He went on about how big of a hit the song was across the country, she just smiled and accepted the praise. “From your last single Shadow, Good 4 U is completely different. Why is that?”
“I’ve been experimenting with my sound, my second mini-album is underway. I’m really excited to let my incredible fans see a different side of me with these songs.”
Nayeon had practiced the perfect way on how to present herself in front of the camera. She crossed her legs, not letting her smile fade. “Dancing With Your Ghost is what I’m most excited for to be released, I had never made an emotional song, but my talented producers were a big help. It turned out better than I imagined.”
Nayeon even cracked a few jokes between segments and the interview almost went smoothly. Almost. The male host decided to show the photo of her recent selca with Sana she posted on instagram.
“You’re recently seen having coffee with co-star Minatozaki Sana recently. How was your meeting with her?” He said, sporting a stupid smile, knowing he managed to ambush Nayeon with a question. This was against her whole team’s instructions. They specifically instructed that there will be no Sana-related questions. “Nayeon, the fans are dying to know.”
Nayeon tried to slacken her jaw, because she knew this very clip will be watched by millions of eyes, and analyzed by everyone. At the very corner of her eye, she could see her manager paralyzed in place. Anticipating how she will react. So Nayeon told the truth.
“It’s a funny story actually, you can’t believe how clumsy that woman is,” Nayeon let out a small chuckle before she continued, “The first time we actually met she ruined my shirt with dairy. Cold yogurt splattered across my chest.”
The host seemed delighted with this information, pleased that this interview will surely be used for headlines later by the media. Nayeon knew she could end it with that. Sunmi looked like she might jump for joy knowing Nayeon didn’t screw the interview up.
“There might be a few bitch slaps involved,” She added, and as soon as she said it Nayeon could feel the entire room froze. She laughed at the reactions, her laughter felt like it was the only sound echoing across the room. “I’m kidding! I’m kidding, of course.”
Thankfully, the host might be a jerk, but at least he knows how to do his job. He laughed and successfully moved the conversation into a safer topic. Fortunately, there were no more hiccups and the interview came to an end.
Knowing the consequence of her decision, she wasn’t stupid enough to go back to her dressing room nor attempt to retrieve her bag or phone. Despite all her countermeasures, and because of her shitty luck, Sunmi was waiting for her at the parking lot and chastised her ear off for god knows how long.
Somehow it was worth it. The corner of her lips twitched for a brief moment, delighted with the pop-up notification of someone’s message. She didn’t need to ask who it was. She only ever blocked one contact on her phone.
[Blocked User, 8:27pm]: Why the hell did you reveal that in your interview?
[Nayeon, 8:28pm]: Why do you still have my number?
[Nayeon, 8:28pm]: Why did you watch my interview? Your obsession is showing
[Nayeon, 8:28pm]: Because I can
Nayeon typed her reply.
~~~
SaNayeon: Are they enemies or are they besties?
@PurpleSana: WHO SLAPPED WHO? @MinatozakiSana
@NabongsBunnie: @/sanayeon shippers, that’s too much enemies to lovers AU for you
@ImNayeonStan: I pray to god Nayeon really slapped her for ruining her shirt.
@SanayeonShipper01: SaNayeon actually dated, I went to high school with SaNayeon!
| @BlueNayeon: DELETE THIS
@SaNayeonator: Did you see how Nayeon smiled at her interview when she talked about Sana? If that’s not love, I don’t know what is!
| @ SanaSimp: You need to touch some grass.
@NayeonnieStan: I can't breathe. Nayeon is really fueling the enemies allegations 😭
~~~
Nayeon refused to acknowledge that she's close to filming until it was absolutely necessary. Her busy schedule was a good distraction from the impending hell she will be in once they start shooting. Her script arrived weeks ago and Nayeon wasn’t worried about handling her lines, but the dread of meeting Sana again and pretending to fall for her in front of the cameras was throwing her stomach upside down.
[Sunmi, 12:48pm]: Have you checked your on-set dressers? I spoke to one of the set staff to help you look around.
[Sunmi, 12:48pm]: Also, don't forget you have a script read through @ 3 PM!
Nayeon closed the van's door and thanked her driver. Telling him to pick her up after a few hours. That should be enough time to do the quick read through, and inspect her on-set dresser. Knowing they would be given trailers for when there will be late filming was not something Nayeon was looking forward to.
She was expecting to be accompanied by someone relatively the same age as her. The girl was an intern and was tasked to show her through the film set. The person bowed and introduced herself with enthusiasm. The harsh industry clearly hasn't ruined her excitement yet and Nayeon beamed at that.
Oh to be that young and excited to follow your dreams.
The film set was everything she expected it to be, the production team spared nothing, knowing renting out an entire place was expensive in this side of the city.
When it was time to inspect her trailer. The room space was big enough to accommodate three people, it even had a bathtub.
"Why do I have such a big trailer?" Nayeon asked, closing the bathroom door, genuinely curious.
"Wait–No one told you're sharing this trailer?"
The front door opened and a spawn of the devil revealed herself.
Speaking of the devil.
Nayeon pressed her lips into a thin line. Not wanting to let Yeji experience the uncomfortable tension, she said, "Yeji, can you give us a moment? I want to talk to Sana alone."
Yeji seemed so nervous being inside the room by two huge celebrities that she hadn't noticed the change of the atmosphere. She gave a quick bow and let herself out.
"Forget it, I'm not sharing a bed with you." Sana rolled her eyes, evidently glad that no one could hear them. Sana walked across the room but not without hitting her shoulders.
"Getting conscious now, aren’t we? Scared you can't keep your hands off me the second time?" Nayeon sneered when she saw Sana's face wrinkle in disgust.
"Can you shut up for at least five minutes? It's really not that hard." Sana growled, there was no need to continue the friendly facade. The two of them, inside the four walls they would be forced to spend a few months in. "Give nature a break and let it heal from your monstrous voice. Press those lips together and shut the fuck–"
"You sure you wouldn't like me to press my lips into something else?" Nayeon said, letting her lips linger, grazing at the shell of Sana's ear. She had to admit, teasing Sana was a form of happiness she had missed, a daring move always spurred reaction so worth it seeing; Sana utterly lost for words.
Sana shoved her back. Hard. Hitting the wall with a loud thud, Nayeon had to grunt at the impact. She could feel Sana's hot breath brush her face, head tilting to the side, lips parted as if tempted to do something.
Nayeon felt her throat dry up for some reason. She scanned her face intently, meeting Sana's brown eyes, trying to not think too much about how dangerously dark it was glinting right now.
Sana was clenching her jaw, striking the sharpest glare she could throw and said, "Do not test me Nayeon."
"Why? Don’t tell me you’re gonna cry?" Fingers ghosting her jaw, tracing it to her chin to her collarbones. Nayeon showed a sickly sweet smile, her sole purpose was to witness Sana’s temper only she could ignite.
Sana scoffed at the action, leaning closer as if there was still a lot of gap separating them. Nayeon had no choice but to bear how she could practically meet Sana’s lips, the familiar smell of lavender was engulfing her senses, taxing most of her thoughts.
“Go ahead. I’d like to see you try,” Sana whispered with a smirk, leaving Nayeon breathless, hating how she seemed to be controlling her somehow. With anticipation her eyes locked on her lips for an agonizingly long moment, both of them with no strength to stray away. Nayeon’s eyelids felt heavy, slowly falling at its own accord. Betraying her good judgement she tilted her face forward, knowing Sana was meeting her half-way.
The hammering sound of the door being knocked dissipated the spell consuming Nayeon. Springing themselves away from each other. "Nayeon? Sana? Are you still there? The director asked me to come here and fetch you. The table reading is about to start."
Chapter Text
Filming started about a week ago and Nayeon was convinced that if hell existed, Sana would be there to guard it.
From that span of time, Jeongyeon dropped by a couple of times, Chaeyoung sent a bald meme tarpaulin of her as an inside joke (which made Sana in an incredibly good mood the whole day), Momo sent a coffee truck on set along with a text she's also annoying me at times but please don't kill her , Dahyun and Tzuyu checked to see if someone was close to committing murder. The first few weeks of filming were quite eventful. The almost kiss was long forgotten
Someone was knocking on the door of her trailer, and Nayeon surely knew it wasn't Sana because that woman barged in whenever she wanted to, unlike the staff when they inform them filming is about to start.
"Nayeon? Are you here?" The person called out as they opened the door.
She knows that voice, "Mina?"
She ran and gave a hug to her long-time friend. Surprised to see her here. Among all of her friends, she knew Mina was the busiest one. Running a company empire and all.
“I thought you guys were too busy planning the wedding? Where's Jihyo?"
"She's with Sana," Mina carefully waited for a reaction, which Nayeon surprisingly didn't provide.
"What brings you here? I thought wedding planning was stressing you out?"
“Actually, we’re here because of the engagement party.”
“What does tha–"
“I’m here to ask you to be my maid of honor for the wedding. I know you’re also busy with interviews, filming, and releasing your new album soon. It’s okay to–”
Nayeon couldn’t help but squeal in excitement before going for another hug.
“Of course, I’ll be your maid of honor,” Nayeon tightens her embrace to emphasize her point.
They eventually went out and decided to set foot on the set, Nayeon gave a quick tour and showed her around. It was a good thing it was still early and most of the staff present were only the set designers and camera crew.
Nayeon greeted a few staff as they passed by and searched for Jihyo along the way. They found her seated near the director’s chair behind the cameras. Jihyo and Sana were so focused on chatting that they didn't realize they were approaching them.
“Honey, the plane’s leaving in an hour we better get going,” Mina kissed Jihyo’s cheek before resting her hand on Jihyo’s shoulder. A tender smile spread across her face when she saw Mina. Affection and fondness were evident in the couple’s eyes. It was sickening.
“Disgusting.”
“Leave that for the honeymoon.”
Jihyo raised an eyebrow, amused at their comment. “Is this how maids of honor are supposed to react?”
“What do you mean maids ?” Sana and Nayeon said in unison, both brows furrowed before connecting the dots.
“Nayeon, I’d love to chat but we need to catch our flight before it leaves,” Jihyo said, with a sheepish smile. Finally rising from her seat and taking Mina’s hand.
“Park Jihyo, don’t act like you guys don’t have dozens of private jets at your disposal!"
“Myoui Sharon Mina, I demand an explanation! You can’t just leave!“
Ignoring their comments, the newly engaged couple walked out, their steps never wavering from anymore yells from their maids of honor.
When their friends were out of sight. Nayeon and Sana ended up in a heated argument from fighting over who deserved their title to the pettiest topic they could bring up. A lot of finger-jabbing and hissing, they didn't even notice how they're about to start their filming soon.
“It's okay to not agree with me. I can't force you to be right.”
"I just wished I had that amount of confidence to assume you can act . It'd be a lot easier to go in front of the cameras with that much supply of confidence. You don't even deserve your fame, you wouldn't have it if you weren't the shiny perfect Minatozaki heir and the money that came with it."
Nayeon struck a nerve and she knew it. Mentioning Sana's parents was always a topic to avoid, it always ended up sour, but Nayeon realized you could only truly hurt the people you loved once.
Sana curled her lips, inching closer, eyes with a dulled coldness that masked any emotions. Her mouth teasing as it grazed the cheeks before it reached her ears. There was no fire in her eyes, but Nayeon was more scared because of it. “If you want to go low, I’d gladly meet you in hell.”
“Baby, we’re already there.” Her lips automatically responded.
Her icy rage would terrify anyone, Sana’s face was contorted with constricted anger, yet when the director yelled action Sana could only bare a sweet loving smile.
Sana was truly terrifying.
"Cut! Take five!"
Today was another grueling filming day, and the moon glared as if it was mocking Nayeon's exhaustion.
A staff member handed her a jacket while her makeup artist also made her way towards her. Haseul checked to see if there's anything to retouch. Nayeon tried not to take a quick glimpse at her side and see what Sana was doing. She was probably on her phone as her makeup artist does the same.
Lately, they have been filming late at night for the other parts of the film. Nayeon wasn't particularly thrilled when it got a lot of stars and eye contacts involved, but at least Sana was a professional whenever they're working.
The director finished talking to the writers and they signaled for another take.
Once again Nayeon handed back the jacket and took a deep breath. She lay on the patch of grass beside Sana. She let the staff fix her hair to make it look perfect for the scene. Dozens of cameras from different angles surrounded them. She was thankful that tonight wasn't as cold as she expected it to be.
"–and action!" The clapperboard shuts, and everyone knew they were rolling.
"Don't you think it's sad?" Nayeon said, still observing the soft glimmering lights above. Whispering before glancing at Sana.
Sana hummed, eyes still closed. Face so serene while a gentle smile rests on her face. So bright, so carefree, so beautiful .
"Don't you think it's sad how we're looking at something that's already dead millions of years ago?"
"It's think it's beautiful actually," Sana answered her, the softness of her voice dripping with each word. "Maybe the stars are meant for us to remember."
Her delicate finger was lingering on the back of her hand, copying a momentum of waves covering white sand.
This wasn't on the script.
Nayeon was drawn into those eyes, she tore them away, only to drop on Sana's lips, momentarily making her incapable of remembering her lines. There was an offbeat moment, but the director didn't motion for them to stop so she continued anyway. She inched closer and delivered her lines.
Going against the script and doing what her character would've done, she hooked her pinky to Sana's not subtle enough to be missed by the cameras. She would have done a kiss but even Nayeon knew it would be too much.
The scene went in the proper direction without any more improvising. The director liked the off-script part and didn't ask for another take.
"That's a wrap for tonight, everyone. Great job. Get some rest and I'll see you at sunrise."
Sana was staring at her with an expression she did not dare name.
"Why are you looking at me like that?" Nayeon asked.
"Because I realize I have nothing to say,"
The crew started packing up, and everyone was starting to leave. Sana was the first one to walk away.
~~~
The director shouted for a stop, Nayeon let a deep sigh escape her lips and started to relax. Long tiring hours of shooting is something she was used to as an idol, but it was always just a three-day shooting and no more than that.
It was a month since they started filming, but the late-night shoots were the most annoying. Sending them to their trailers and forced to wait for a call when the set was finally arranged.
She opened the door and noticed how Sana was always the first one entering their shared temporary home. Nayeon threw her shoes at the side and walked inside.
She was greeted with such a sight; Wet hair dripping on Sana's shoulders, towel barely covering what needs to be hidden, the thin white cloth hardly reached her thighs and Nayeon was trying to justify her gaze by the means of only observation and only that. Recovering from her senses, a scowl formed as she said, “Can you please wear a little bit more than just a towel?”
“Why? It’s nothing you hadn’t seen before, Nayeon,” Sana said, the corner of her mouth twitching to the side, her voice an octave lower, an amused glimmer in her eyes as she scanned Nayeon's face.
Not giving her reply any acknowledgment, she disregarded her and made her way to the bathroom for a quick shower and planned to end this tiring day with a well-deserved sleep, but unlike Sana, Nayeon came out of the bathroom with clothes on. Towel wrapped around her hair, drying it like a normal person would.
When she reached the bedroom, she stopped at her tracks, Sana was already covered by the blanket from the neck down. By the looks of it, it was suspicious.
“Please tell me, you’re wearing something underneath.”
“Why? Would you sleep on the couch if I didn't?”
Nayeon stared at the ceiling before releasing a sigh out of exasperation. Not in the mood to participate in Sana's plan to make her night miserable, she jumped into bed. Back facing Sana, eyes closed, acting like if she imagined hard enough she will magically teleport to her apartment’s bed. Or somewhere besides hell.
Sana called her name a few times, only to be ignored by the fake sleeping Nayeon. She waited for Sana to give up and decide to pester another day. It was not like she was running out of days to annoy her anyway.
“I know you’re still awake, your shoulders are still tense.”
Nayeon continued to ignore her. A long moment had passed and there was the rewarding silent Nayeon was longing for.
“You know, we did everything but talked it through,” Sana mumbled to herself, her voice loud enough, the room silent enough to hear. “Every problem was patched up with a kiss, we never properly talked.”
“I never actually liked you with orange hair, it didn’t suit you.” Nayeon said, if Sana wanted the truth might as well start with that.
Sana gasped, undignified at the sudden revelation. “You said you liked it!”
Nayeon chuckled, “What was I supposed to say? I pranked my girlfriend with orange hair dye in her shampoo. Of course, I’ll say it at least looked good.”
There was a silent moment before Sana replied, “I always hated your front teeth.”
“You did?” Nayeon turned to face her, not liking the way her voice sounded small.
“I’m kidding,” Sana broke into a smile when she looked directly at Nayeon. It wasn’t the usual playful or teasing smile like before. It brought her back to the days Nayeon would look at her up close and see the stars in Sana’s eyes as it always matched her smile.
“I always knew you’d made it,” Sana said with a hushed tone, eyes slowly lowering with each breath.
“I always knew you’d be too,” Nayeon whispered, not sure where the honesty was coming from.
She peaked to her side and finally saw Sana was dozing off. “I did the same wrong things on repeat, but I liked blaming you.”
Goodnight, Sana
That night, falling asleep was as easy as letting Sana make her smile again.
~~~
“What do you say about the fans still speculating that you guys hate each other?” The host leaned forward, waiting for an answer. Nayeon could see from the corner of her eyes, Sana was letting her answer the question as she was also looking at her with a playful smile. Eyes whispering, how will you answer this, Im?
Her smile not wavering, Nayeon held her composure before lifting her mic, ”I just want to remind people that someone can be beautiful and nice at the same time.” Nayeon said, looking at the host, intentionally not risking to break her prepared response by glimpsing at the woman beside her, enjoying to see her struggle with words, “Maybe Sana isn't one of them–” Sana elbowed Nayeon but she’s sure the fans will eventually catch it. “I'm joking. I'm joking. Sana and I are friends.”
@Queentozaki: Did you guys see what Sana did? She elbowed her!
|@Queentozaki: Pls, they hate each other’s guts. It’s true, it’s true.
@NayeonNabongs: Queen, exposing what Sana really is. Love to see it.
|@Shibasana12: Sit down, why can’t y’all take a joke?
@PurpleSana: Rabbit stans, having a field day.
@SaNayeonator: I know they have an inside joke about this! I just know it!
@NayeonNabongs: speak your truth queen!
“Nayeon, you’re up in three minutes,” The stage manager informed, Nayeon checked her in-ears and nodded. Doing her last-minute vocal prep she always does before going on-stage.
When they gave the cue she went on stage and performed. Letting the slow guitar intro soak in the air comfortably floating as she sees the dark sea of audience in front. She held the microphone tight and let her voice do the work.
Her emotions were perfectly in tune with the song, she swayed and focused on the lyrics. Letting her muscles relax and her eyes wander in the crowd before her. Nayeon knew she was here, she presented an award earlier.
“I could see the end as it begins. My one condition is,” Nayeon hushed at the words, eyes trained only on her. She couldn’t see her face clearly, but part of her wished Sana was looking. That Sana was listening. “Say you’ll remember me standing in a nice dress. Staring at the sunset, babe.”
She forced herself to not linger in her direction any longer. Scolding herself when she almost forgot about the camera, making her disregard the millions of eyes because one certain pair was on hers. Nayeon let herself take one last look as she delivered the next line, “Even if it’s just pretend.”
Not knowing the reason, she felt her heart drop. Perhaps from anger, perhaps from something more. She ignored it for the time being, she didn’t trust herself to glance once more.
The song ended and the crowd applauded, yet somehow she left the stage feeling emptier after she performed.
The night was still young. Nayeon tried to shake the feeling off and focused on what's ahead.
[Nayeon, 7:23pm]: Green doesn’t suit you. You look like a bent-up sunflower with that dried-up blonde hair.
[Sana, 7:25pm]: Don’t bother to prepare a speech later. You won’t win anyway! <3
[Nayeon, 7:26pm]: Fuck you!
[Sana, 7:26pm]: Unfortunately, you already have.
Later that night, Nayeon won the award, smiled for the cameras, and bowed a silent thank you to the presenter. She grabbed the mic and flashed a wider smile. "I just wanna thank my sweet friend. Thank you for telling me I won't win and shouldn't bother to make a speech. This nonsense and rushed speech is for you."
~~~
@SapphicNayeon: Did Nayeon just pull an Evelyn-Hugo-Chipped-Tooth-Moment on us?
| @NabongsBunnie: Okay grandma, let's get you to bed.
@SanayeonShipper01: Is this the closest thing sanayeon did to admit they're a thing?
@SanaSimp: Why does everyone assume she's talking about sana? Does your fave don't have any more friends?
~~~
Nayeon furrowed her eyebrows and tried not to let her gaze roam to her wristwatch for the fifth time. She refused to admit that she had been waiting for a certain someone as they were running late-onset.
She fished for her phone in search of a photo, already grinning at her idea. After countless searching and scrolling, even resorting to opening her cloud, she found it.
Sana sleeps on her desk with her mouth open, a textbook hides her head, it was hilarious. She opened her Instagram and typed a caption.
ImNayeon: In loving memory of Minatozaki Sana, I bet she's looking up right now and smiling at us.
| ImNayeon: P.S. She isn’t dead. I just like remembering her.
@SanayeonShipper01: Guys, this photo was taken around five years ago! That was our high school’s classroom. I SWEAR I’M NOT LYING!
@Queentozaki: Is no one seeing that Nayeon is actually insinuating that Sana would end up in hell by that “looking up” comment?
| @SanaStan29: They don’t want to beat the enemy allegations.
@NayeonNabongs: Wait-why does it look like they’re in a classroom? Is this on their set or was the crazy sny account actually telling the truth?
| @ImNayeonStan: I don’t even wanna know anymore. I’m just enjoying the shady posts, it’s quite entertaining.
@SaNayeonator: Goofy gfs, if you ask me
| @NayeonnieStan: Good thing, no one did.
The engagement party was held at the enormous Myoui mansion. A couple of close friends, the in-laws, and a few cameras for the press.
Everyone was socializing, catching up with friends they haven't talked to in a while. Nayeon was sipping on a glass of champagne and enjoying the scene before her.
"I just want to thank everyone for being here and celebrating with us," Jihyo said, smiling ear to ear. Her face has always shined the brightest when she's looking at Mina.
The toast came in and it was time to share cute cheesy stories about how they were convinced they were meant for each other.
When it was Nayeon's turn, she stood up, beaming at how happy she was for her friends, "I knew Mina since we were kids, we were always forced to attend the same family business gatherings. We were basically family. At one point, I even got scared that our parents were planning an arrangement."
That got her a chuckle from Mina and the others.
"I know how hard it was for Mina to be open to somebody else. To be comfortable with someone else's presence and it was always hard for someone as tightly wounded as Mina, but she did that with you. She found a home in Jihyo, and for that, I couldn't be happier." She paused, letting her words sink in, Jihyo placed her hand on top of Mina's, looking at her as if she's holding the moon and stars.
"I guess what I'm trying to say is that you're incredibly lucky, and don’t you ever forget about that. Hurt Mina once and I'll steal her away from you."
"I'd like to see you try!" Jihyo shouted, garnering laughter from everybody.
Their friends got their moment to share an embarrassing memory or a cute story. Even Jeongyeon almost got killed for ratting Jihyo out with some secret they both vowed to keep.
"I just want to say these two are the most stubborn people on earth," Nayeon knew Sana's voice at the first syllables of her speech and Nayeon did not appreciate why she could.
"Not everybody knows this, but Mina was the first one to drop on one knee a year ago to ask Jihyo to marry her. She rejected her. Why? Because according to Jihyo, she wanted to be the one to ask the other to marry her."
Everyone was smiling at the engaged couple.
" Logically, the next thing to expect was that Mina will say yes when Jihyo proposed, right? No. They kept rejecting each other's proposal for an entire year. But I guess, by some miracle, someone finally gave up. To that person, from the bottom of my heart, thank you."
Everyone was laughing, enjoying seeing Jihyo and Mina radiating happiness with their smiles.
Jihyo butted in with Sana's speech, providing everyone with the answer. "For the record, Mina was the one who gave in, she told me one random night, 'I can't do this anymore, Jihyo. I give up, I don't care who-proposed-to-who I just want to finally call you my wife ."
A couple of Aww's lingered across the room and if someone wasn't smiling still, they surely do now.
"Unlike most of us in high school, who were making stupid decisions, dating the wrong people. I'm glad you two were different," Sana lifted her glass at the newly engaged couple. "Cheers to Mina and Jihyo."
Nayeon couldn't help but feel like there was a subtle jab with Sana's last words.
~~~
"Where's Mina?" Nayeon asked Jihyo, sinking closer to Jihyo's side. Marveling at the chaos their drunkenness caused across the room, everyone passed out or barely sober, expensive bottles on the ground.
"Momo grabbed her and Sana, dragging them outside the room shouting 'Mimosa ! Mimosa !'"
"Is that a wordplay on their name or are they drinking mimosas?"
"Only God knows," Jihyo smiled, knowing Momo, both options were a possibility. "How have you been holding up with Sana around?"
"I don't know, I expected worse." Nayeon let her words float in the air for a moment, not wanting to mention the almost-kiss that happened a month ago. Even if she knew no one was listening and everyone in the room was passed out one way or another, she felt that holding that tiny information was the right choice.
"When you were a couple, I thought you guys were the most annoying thing to happen in my high school life and that even includes being the student body’s president for three years," Jihyo revealed, "But when you two broke up? Everything was hell at that point. It wasn't petty fights anymore. It was war."
They both chuckled. Nayeon had to admit, she wasn't an easy friend to be around with especially at high school.
Jihyo patted her leg and stood up. Excusing herself, she had to hold Nayeon's shoulder for a second before she started walking. Revealing she wasn't sober as she let on.
"I gotta save my soon-to-be wife, I promised her no more embarrassing drunk memories."
Nayeon drank too much that she couldn't drive, but unfortunately not enough that would make her sleep on the couch like Dahyun and Chaeyoung.
Nayeon nodded and let Jihyo stumble to the door in search of her fiancé. After being the only person awake in the room. She scrolled on her phone, waiting for her timeline to bore her and doze off like everybody else when she saw a headline. It didn't involve her name but it still caught her eye.
Minatozaki Sana brought Kim Seongmin To Her Friend's Engagement Party. Is This A Blooming Romance?
Nayeon knew she shouldn't be affected, it was none of her business if Sana was dating anyone. They were only acquaintances–no colleagues. They were mere colleagues and nothing more, but when Sana opened the door with her cheeks powdered with pink hues and a smile that was so bright her visions went dark.
The next thing she knew was walking towards her, venom on her tongue with no words in mind.
"Had a great time bringing Seongmin?"
"What do you mea–"
"Stop with the charade, Sana. You couldn’t wait until this film was done before you flounce around with the next big name you can find for fame. I just hope he's good in bed becau—"
The slap was like cold water splashing onto her face. Dissipating the irrational anger that stirred in her mind. Her left cheek stinging from the contact.
"Is this how little you think of me?"
The stinging shame left Nayeon with nothing as a reply. Sana didn't wait for Nayeon to recover, she dived back into the dark mess halls and left without another word. It felt like the red handprint on her face was brighter than any lights from the room.
~~~
As usual, everything that happened where they needed to talk was shoved under the rug and disregarded. Days turned to weeks and they never talked about that night at the engagement party or the almost kiss.
They were so ahead of their schedule that producers decided to take a break and do additional promotions before continuing filming. As a result, they were forced on doing as many interviews and media work together as possible.
"The best thing about Sana is that she had no problems with letting go." Nayeon followed with a smile. Of course, she would never give a safe boring answer whenever it involved Sana.
The interviewer was left confused, and Nayeon knew she had to do some damage control. "What I mean to say is, she does have a knack for knowing when to let go of her lines when shooting. She knows how to deliver her lines."
"Yet what I admire most about Nayeon is how she continues to hold on to things for so long," Sana smiled, but the fury in her eyes was unmasked and intentionally directed at her.
She placed her hand on top of her hand with nonchalance. What the camera didn't see was how tight she was holding it.
@NayeonNabongs: Nayeon looked so forced into saying that. Please save her from this form of torment.
@SanayeonShipper01: Guys, did you see the hand grabbing. They're obviously in love!
@Queentozaki: Did you see Sana's eyes? She's furious. Mommy? Sorry. Mommy? Sorry.
~~~
Spending her Friday night following instructions on a well-crafted friendly date in front of the cameras and curious eyes was not something Nayeon had imagined nor hoped for.
"Put that hand away from me," Sana whispered vehemently.
"It was an accident," Nayeon said, winking before giving her a cocky smile, continuing holding Sana's hand, trying to lighten up the mood. It was more unbearable when Sana's quiet, Nayeon realized that recently.
Sana groaned when her hand didn't move. "Oh shut up, I know you always loved this."
"That’s the thing, the things I loved about you, I hate it now." Sana spat on her brutal words, some part of Nayeon wished it was not the truth, but she knew better.
For a brief flash of a moment, Nayeon's smile didn’t flicker as playful as it usually was. Sana wasn't sure if it was her mind tricking her into believing she could be affected by such a thing.
"Well then, it sucks to be you." Nayeon's playful words didn't reach her eyes. Sana didn't want to read about it too much. She continued to sit in silence, wishing the paparazzi had taken enough pictures for this PR stunt to be over with.
“What are you doing?” Sana muttered under her smile, evidently confused for a second at the change of Nayeon's mood.
She was taunting Sana, she rose from her seat and started to take a few steps closer to her, leaning closer to her face. She waited for Sana to back down and concede. Anticipating the moment she'd yield or even turn her face away from her.
She didn't.
That was enough of an invitation for Nayeon. So she stepped back and dragged Sana out of the restaurant. Diving right in front of the sea of flashing cameras, showing the biggest smile she got, taking Sana’s hand with her. More murmurs were heard but it didn’t waver her one bit.
“I'm not giving you what you want," Nayeon feigned a laugh and whispered back with a sweet mocking tone, still walking across the dark streets of the city, knowing full well the cameras were still following them.
“If you hate me that much, might as well hate me for giving them the perfect show."
~~~
"You got a week off from filming and promotions, and the first thing you do is get drunk," Jeongyeon grabbed the seat beside her. It's a good thing Jeongyeon owns the place. She prepared a private lounge for them to stay in and relax, away from the public eye. It was one of the few places Nayeon knew she was safe from the cameras.
Nayeon slurred a greeting and after downing another drink. The heavy music from the background was muffling her friend's scoldings.
"Quit talking, I didn't text you here for a scolding," Nayeon grinned from ear to ear, beckoning the servers for more drinks. "Jeongyeon, it has been a stressful couple of months. I deserve a break."
Jeongyeon's tense shoulders finally loosened, taking her first shot of tequila. Nayeon spent hours ranting everything about filming. From the on-set trailers to the interviews to especially filming the scenes that include Sana.
Jeongyeon nodded and listened patiently, secretly taking a shot when Nayeon mentioned Sana's name, which was a lot, considering she almost planted her face on the floor when she stood up to go to the bathroom.
Jeongyeon was taking a long time to return and an intoxicated Nayeon was getting bored. She grabbed her phone and looked through her contact.
[Nayeon, 11:56pm]: shuold I textt my ex agian?
[Sana, 11:56pm]: I don't know, should you?
[Nayeon, 11:56pm]: shees a pain in the ass but shes hot.
[Sana, 11:57pm]: Oh really? Do it, if you think so.
[Nayeon, 11:57pm]: i dont konw i think she hates me now.
~~~
"I'm so glad you two could be here!" The host smiled and they both reciprocated it with a practiced smile on their lips.
Sunmi was behind the camera looking like a constipated puppy worrying again if Nayeon would mess up this interview again somehow.
"How's it like being on set with Nayeon? Was there anything you two struggled with before you started filming?"
Sana laughed and leaned back. Her practiced smile rests on those sly lips, pouring words the audience wanted to hear.
Sana led the interview with ease, which she was thankful for. She just had to sit back, laugh at the jokes, and smile at Sana whenever she glanced at her side.
"Now this question is for Nayeon since this upcoming film is your acting debut where you experienced working with someone for months. Tell me the cutest thing you have seen Sana has done on the set?”
"Now this seems interesting," Sana jokes, resting her chin on her hand waiting for her to answer. Acting thrilled and excited on anything Nayeon was left to say.
Nayeon started to scramble her mind to look for answers that wouldn't remotely orchestrate another headline nor upset Sana further than she already was. She did what any celebrity would when they wanted to stall for a response; She smiled.
Knowing she couldn't come up with a decent lie, she told the truth.
"Sana always does this thing when she is particularly excited about something," A soft chuckle escaped her lips, unsure of how natural it felt. "She always has this habit with swinging her hands as she smiled ever since high school–"
Then it struck her. She just revealed she knew her from high school.
Notes:
This is the longest update I wrote for a multi-chap fic. I also want to say thank you to the ones who continue to leave comments. I don't usually reply but it's because I don't know how to respond without being cheesy, but I do read them from time to time especially when I'm trying to find the motivation to write. Know that your comments are appreciated and it helped me with faster updates! Anyway, I'm excited for chap 3. It's the most emotional chapter in this fic.

Smoke was practically coming out of her nose. Sana’s shallow mask of neutrality was slowly emerging out. Barely restraining herself from anger. Slamming the dressing room door closed without any more thought. Bracing her arm on Nayeon's chest locking in place against the wall.
“Are you insane? Why the hell would you reveal that?” Sana's cheeks turning pink seething with anger.
“It was an accident! I didn't mean to–”
“Nayeon, can you be serious for once. I know you did that to mess with me, but can you please stop? Our fucking careers are at stake!”
The one time Nayeon actually answered truthfully it bites her in the ass.
Nayeon scoffed, shoving the heavy feeling on her chest to the farthest corner of her chest and said, "Is that all you ever cared about?"
"Of course, I sacrificed everything to get where I am now."
"I know," Nayeon replied, her cold beaded eyes staring straight at Sana. Removing Sana's arm away from her. "I was the first thing you gave up."
"Nayeon, do you really want to start discussing our past right now? Especially here out of all places?"
At that moment, Nayeon couldn't stand being in the same room with Sana. She started to walk away, each step felt harder than the first somehow. “You’re right, why talk about it now when we’re four years too late.”
~~~
[Nayeon, 1:24am]: I'm at the bar, just thinking.
[Sana, 1:26am]: About?
[Nayeon, 1:26am]: You.
[Sana, 1:26am]: Aww.
[Nayeon, 1:27am]: Nothing good tho. You little shit.
[Nayeon, 1:28am]: I’m drunk and I still can't believe I could hate you more.
[Sana, 1:29am]: Go to hell. I hope you get a terrible hangover tomorrow <3
After tons of damage control from their PR team (especially Sunmi) they finally went back to filming but what happened was not something they both could just sweep under the rug anymore.
Nayeon couldn’t hide the flinch when Sana touched her hand, she knew full well that the cameras caught it.
She cursed herself and tried to continue the scene. After a lot of retakes, the director was getting frustrated and called a break right before scolding them.
Nayeon bowed and thanked her assistant for handing her water and went back to her trailer. The door behind her opened, not even bothering to knock and she instantly knew it could only be one person.
“We need to at least be civil about this. People are watching us, Nayeon. I think it’s best to let all of this hostility out, I think it's time to talk about–”
“No." Nayeon immediately answered without a pause. Controlling the anger that wants to erupt from her chest.
"I’ll do better. It's my fault I can't stand looking at you anymore, but I know I have to. I'll do my part and be done with this. Anything to not see your face again.” She said, as neutral as she could and turned her back once again.
“Nayeon, let’s be mature enough. We need to finally talk."
"No need, I'll just–"
"Im Nayeon, take your head out of your ass and let's talk like real adults for once. We need to say what we feel. Tell me you hate me. Tell me why you hate me.” Sana looked desperate, which was something Nayeon did not expect from her and that just boiled this ugly feeling simmering in her chest.
I hate it when you flare your nose when you're about to laugh, I hate it when you purse your upper lip when you're talking about something you’re passionate about, I hate how adorable you look with your closed fists as you run, I hate it when I see your eyes smile but its not for me. At least not anymore.
I hate how I have to hate you in order to not break down and admit that I'm still utterly in love with you even if you broke my fucking heart.
Those were the things she wanted to say, but somehow it got morphed and twisted into something else. Covering each word with ego and denial and spite.
“I hate that I’m still stuck in this room, forcing myself to spend another unneeded minute with you."
~~~
Sana glanced back, checking to see if she was still following her. A soft smile spread when she saw Nayeon did. Sana offered her hand, which Nayeon obligingly took. Connecting their fingers together, the comfort of holding Sana was already enough.
Sana led the way, bustling through the half-lightened path of the familiar streets. Sana’s hand still clasped firmly on her tight, still smiling as she led the way. Nayeon willed her eyes to capture that exact moment so it lasts longer.
"We're here," Sana announced arriving at a cafe. They arrived at the entrance, no other people in sight. “It was our first real date. It was midterms week, I have 3 exams the next day so I told you I can’t meet you after class but you insisted on seeing me.”
Nayeon smiled, remembering how serene the entire day was. It was one of the few quiet moments, they were still new to the whole date with the new discovered feelings.
"I was too busy diving my head into textbooks but you just sat there watching me as if I carried the sun.” Sana caressed her cheek and Nayeon was left to only lean into her touch. “We're graduating soon and I know the future is still unclear. We're gonna be busy for a lot of reasons. I might try to attend college because of my parents, you might get accepted as a trainee at an entertainment agency. I just want another moment like this." Sana explained, pouting so cutely. Nayeon wanted to kiss those lips already.
"How about we make a promise that even with all of the stuff going on. We'll spend our tiny moments here and hold each other's hands?" Nayeon proposed an idea.
"I wouldn't trade you for anything," Sana answered, sealing her words with a kiss.
"You better be, cause I'd hold on to your words."
~~~
The next few weeks of shooting were quiet. Nayeon followed her promise and the shooting was going smoothly again.
The director announced that they had two more weeks of filming and they were finally done. He thanked the crew and told everyone they can leave early today and enjoy the weekend.
Nayeon grabbed her bag and double-checked her things, making sure she had everything she needed before going to the airport to pick up Jihyo and Mina before they went to the bachelorette party.
On her way out she saw Sana standing there grunting in frustration as she was in the middle of a call.
Im Nayeon, do not look her way. Just pass through quietly and don't look back.
Her feet were thinking the opposite because her pace slowed down as she walked within earshot.
"It's okay, unnie. I'll just book a grab to the airport. Tell the driver to make sure they rest for today."
Nayeon was convinced that her fans were right, she was really insane. Insane for taking a step forward in Sana's direction. Insane for offering her a ride. Insane for not being able to ignore her own pride for Sana even now.
“I can give you a lift, since we’re both meeting them at the airport.” Nayeon said all of the sudden, Sana's eyes widened in surprise realizing Nayeon was behind her.
“Are you sure?” She can’t name the look across her face, Nayeon was too busy trying to steady her racing heartbeat.
Nayeon was running out of patience, but she did have some pride. “If you want me to force you in order to help you, I won’t. Good luck with that.”
“Wait-” She rushed behind her, following where Nayeon parked her car. Nayeon lifted her key and the doors opened at a push of a button. She headed to the driver’s seat, still not glancing if Sana was still following her.
She did. Not sure what to make out of it, but Nayeon knew better than to assume it wasn't out of necessity. Sana placed her seatbelt on uncharacteristically quiet all of the sudden.
“Why are you sitting there?” Nayeon broke the silence.
“Where am I supposed to sit?”
“Trunk."
"Fuck you."
"Do you really wanna do it here?" Nayeon teased, words just poured out of her mouth. She was too late to realize she had a playful smirk tugged on her lips, it just felt natural. Like the old days.
Getting too caught up at the moment, Nayeon broke their tiny bubble by clearing her throat and actually started driving.
The party was doing great considering Jeongyeon was left in charge of the Bachelorette party. It was her bar anyway. Only Mina and Jihyo’s closest friends were invited; the whole gang was there. There were new faces also, maybe some of Jihyo’s college friends. The place wasn’t as wild as she thought it would be. If you ignore the few people doing body shots, some chaotic drunks (Dahyun, Chaeyoung, and company), and a distracting pole that was set up in the middle of the room, the party was considered to be under control.
Nayeon stepped further in the room and sat beside the soon-to-be-married couple. They both had a drink in hand while they interacted with familiar faces.
“Honestly, I’m just glad no one brought strippers.” Jihyo said, glancing to her side, careful of Mina's reaction.
“Bold of you to assume such a thing, Park. The night is still young.” Nayeon butted in, giving her a playful smile and wink, resting an arm on Jihyo’s shoulder before sitting on her side. Nayeon doubts Jihyo needs to worry considering Mina looked like she would hardly remember a single moment of tonight.
“I swear to god if this reaches the internet-”
“Relax. No one’s posting anything. I’m an idol, Sana’s an actress, Chaeyoung’s a music producer, Momo’s a dance choreographer. I highly doubt if tonight reaches the internet, the front page of the newspapers would be about two rich CEO’s wild night. No offense.”
“None taken.” Jihyo smiled, looking across the room it seemed ridiculous to worry about it. They were surrounded by close friends.
Sana huddled everyone in the middle of the room. “Ladies, our mission for tonight is to make regrets and make the brides drunk!” Jeongyeon and Chaeyoung sprayed bottles of champagne on everyone while Dahyun started dancing which started a dance battle with Momo.
There were a few drinking games, people shouting ‘ Shot! Shot! Shot!’ at Mina. Jihyo was even offering to drink in Mina’s place but people only booed, by “ people ” she meant Jeongyeon. Everyone was either dancing, talking, or drinking and Nayeon was at the back doing none of it.
“Why are you sitting here looking all alone?” Tzuyu asked, holding two drinks. Offering one to her.
“I don’t know. Just thinking, I guess.” Nayeon replied, staring at the drunk group of people.
“That’s a first,” Tzuyu teased, offering her a drink.
“Ha ha,” Nayeon rolled her eyes but accepted the drink anyway.
“You’re missing out. Sana is daring Mina to give Jihyo a lap dance.” Tzuyu grinned, watching their friends in front.
“Now that is something I’d pay actual money to see.” Nayeon downed the whole drink and placed the cup at the table before diving into the sea of people again. It can’t be a memorable night without Mina doing something she’d regret eventually.
People were circling, Jeongyeon had a shit grin while filming the whole thing. Jihyo was sitting on a chair not looking any more sober than her fiance. She was flushing red down to her neck while everyone was cheering and encouraging the whole thing. People were actually getting louder when Mina finally sat on Jihyo's lap. Nayeon couldn’t help but wolf whistle, some even threw some paper bills which was ridiculous considering Jihyo and Mina’s bank accounts have more money than anyone here combined.
By the end of the song, the engaged couple was heavily making out for everyone to see. Tzuyu was the one who pulled them apart only out of fear that they would do something further.
Nayeon was starting to enjoy the night. She joined the others and danced while drinking more. She briefly joined the dubchaeng’s drinking games and at one point she ended up chugging a lot of beer when she lost.
Everything was great until she saw something she wished she hadn’t. Her eyes drifted on Sana laughing at a woman she didn’t know. Clenching her jaw, she watched quietly at the exchange. Sana leaned closer and whispered something before handing her phone with a coy smile. They were exchanging numbers already. Nayeon tried to shake the interaction off by joining in with the drinking games but her mood was already too spoiled to enjoy anything after.
Nayeon grabbed Jeongyeon and pointed at the person Sana talked to earlier.
“Do you know who that is?”
Drunk-hazed Jeongyeon took a moment to process Nayeon’s words quinting to the direction she was pointing. The music was already too loud and she had too much alcohol to rely on an actual answer so it was actually a miracle when Jeongyeon eventually came through.
“I think her name’s Miyeon. She’s one of Jihyo’s friends. She’s single and cute,” Jeongyeon wiggled her eyebrows suggestively. Nayeon was secretly glad taht Jeongyeon would be too drunk to remember this conversation.
After getting the information she wanted she shoved Jeongyeon back to their friends and decided she needed to step away from the commotion and the loud music, but not without bringing a couple of bottles on the way out to the hidden room at the back.
~~~
“Go away,” Nayeon held the champagne bottle down and glanced behind the person who’s disturbing her sweet solitude
“I saw you went here and hid. Why are you here looking like a wounded puppy?” Momo passed through the doors, interupting Nayeon’s solace.
Nayeon ignored her and took another swig at the bottle.
“Is this still about Sana?”
“Shut up,” Nayeon turned her back on her and continued to stare at the sky and mope. Trying to ignore the moving figure coming near her.
“You know, Sana never wanted to move to Japan.” Momo took the bottle from her. Which finally made Nayeon look at her. “I don’t know if she told you this, but she–"
“What difference does it make?” Nayeon cut her off, she struggled to stand but she did. Mirroring Momo’s gaze with her cold beaded eyes. “Sana followed her parents’ orders and left me. She gave up so quickly, she didn’t even try to fight. Letting me go as if I wasn’t worth another thought.”
“That’s not even why her face leaves a bitter taste in my mouth,” Nayeon scoffed at the memory, a burning sensation in her chest was forming and she was quite sure it wasn’t from the alcohol. “She eventually fought her parents and became an actress afterwards. And that fucking hurts. It was never about Sana leaving, it was about how she decided I wasn’t worth the fight.”
The vivid memory of when she discovered Sana debuted as an actress in a movie while she was still a trainee. So many thoughts ran through her mind, so many questions followed her to sleep.
“So many nights I was forced to see her smiling face through the screens as her name got bigger when I was struggling each night to forget her. I was always asking if all we had was a lie, wondering if I wasn't worth fighting for, wishing she’d call me once.” Nayeon jabbed her fingers to her friend’s chest. She knew Momo had nothing to do with it but she couldn't ignore the spite bubbling in her words.
“Nayeon, I think if you just talk to her–”
“Momo, I can’t let her know I got hurt. I’ll just be giving her more power.”
Momo wrapped her arms to Nayeon’s shaking figure, knowing she has nothing she could possibly do. “Nayeon, that was a long time ago. She had changed. You both did.”
“People change, but the past doesn’t.”
~~~
Nayeon refused to acknowledge the reason why she got so affected when Sana was with someone.
After the party. Nayeon realized one thing. It’s that she was great at ignoring everything until she couldn't. She could pretend she didn’t break down in front of Momo. She could act like none of it ever happened. She was actress after all.
Nayeon was a good actress in an excellent set with a great actor that pretends to love her when she doesn’t anymore.
The cameras were rolling. Sana was sitting beside her, leaning on her shoulder with a melting smile as they watched the sun set. Nayeon only hummed in return. Kissing her temple lovingly. Her heart’s beating fast, knowing she couldn’t make a mistake because they were minutes away before the sun disappeared and they would have to extend the shoot for another day.
The yellow ray of light covered their fair skin, enveloping them with warmth that seemed to sooth Nayeon’s nerves. They stayed there in silence contented with the embrace but Sana’s fingers slowly traced the skin from her shoulders to her hand, lifting them so delicate and soft. Those nimble fingers started to explore the expanse of Nayeon’s palm. Steadily following the intricate lines, not ignoring a single detail. Silence was the only thing Nayeon could offer.
Curiosity should lead Nayeon’s eyes to their hands but her eyes wandered to Sana’s lips. Carefully noticing how the corners of her mouth curled to form a lovely smile. Her lips were pink, inviting, and dangerously close.
“I love you,” Nayeon finally recited her line, both eyes plastered onto Sana’s. There was nothing but conviction in her tongue and it scares her to think this was way past acting anymore.
“I love you too,” The words were fluid and warm. Soft and delicate. Sana gave her a smile brighter than the sun. And every ounce of her being was aching with familiarity.
“–and that’s a wrap guys!” The director announced and everyone clapped. Happy and relieved the filming was over.
The cameras were off. The mics were down. People were leaving. And she was slowly realizing she was still holding Sana’s hand. Needing to actually let go. The awkward silence was enough to release her hand.
Sana was the first to move. Instantly on both of her feet, clearing her throat as her gaze roamed everywhere but Nayeon’s.
Sana opened her mouth only to close it again. She looked as if she wanted to say something, but she didn’t. And Nayeon just stood there confused as she was, not sure what to do next. So Sana decided for both of them. She slowly turned her back and walked away.
A bitter feeling bloomed inside of her as she watched Sana walk away. Scolding herself to not be shocked on how easy it was for her to walk away.
~~~
Nayeon just needed to survive one more night and this will all be over. She only had the red carpet premiere to endure and she will never have to face Sana again. She peered through the car window and watched as the city lights blur as they continue to move. She could already see the flashing shutters of light even when she’s yet to come out of the car.
The driver motioned that they arrived and opened the door for her. Nayeon was met with a swarm of cameras in front. She straightened her dress and checked the backseat before closing the door. She thanked her driver and started to walk forward. The whole cast was there waiting for her. She spotted Sana located beside their director answering questions from the reporters in the corner.
Afterwards, they huddled in a group and walked through the red carpet with ease. Displaying a smile to as many photographers as they can. Nayeon put on the warmest smile she could muster as Sana leaned towards her side. Probably because it was expected by everyone so she played along.
The intoxicating smell of lavender and peppermint invaded her senses. All she could do was lean closer and hope Sana doesn’t notice how much she affects her.
“What are you doing?” Sana whispered, finally noticing how close they were. Every lines, and curve of Sana’s face was painfully reminding her of the past where she would smirk and leave Nayeon no choice but to try and kiss it off her face.
Nayeon inched closer, so close she knew her lips could ghost the shell of Sana’s ear, “Go laugh as if I told a joke,”
Sana did. Effortlessly, Nayeon might add.
They were caught up in their little bubble to notice that the staff was signalling for them to move. The others were reaching the other side. Which led to Sana rushing to the front and miserably tripping with her high heels.
Sana would’ve landed face first if she didn’t step in.
"Don't worry, I got you," Nayeon whispered, soft and slow. Holding Sana tighter than she should. Her eyes drifted dangerously close to her lips, making her gulp when she realized it. Both of them failed to realize just yet how the flashing lights went wild as they stood there frozen. Everything feels wrong, but it was wrong enough that somehow it made it feel right.
“You always had two left feet.” Nayeon commented, still holding her in place as she led her through the staircase carefully.
“Which is a good thing because if I didn’t, I would be a serious problem to your idol career right now,” Sana joked before they entered and went to their assigned seat.
~~~
@ImNayeonStan: Did you see the concern in Nayeon's eyes? Even I’m convinced. How can people still believe they hate each other?
@SaNayeonator: YOUR HONOR, THEY’RE IN LOVE.
@PurpleSana: nayeon’s hand was completely glued on sana? miss ma’am no one’s taking her from you.
@SanaSimp: Nothing’s gayer than Sana panicking and actually tripping when she realized she was too distracted with Nayeon to remember they were IN FRONT of hundreds of cameras.
| @NabongsBunnie: I mean she’s with nayeon. who wouldn’t????
@BlueNayeonie: they way Nayeon caused Sana to gay panic and trip. Who could blame her?
@SweetSattang: Sanayeon are braver than the marines for flirting outright in front of the cameras. We don’t even need a public statement at this point lol.
~~~
The movie ended and the people applauded. The director went in front of the theater and bowed thanking every cast and crew for the film. After his short speech everyone was rising from their seats and mingled with the attendees.
“For someone who says she hates her ex, you sure do know how to act like she’s still the love of your life.”
“Jeongyeon?”
“The one and only,” Jeongyeon revealed herself as she opened both of her arms. “We wanted to surprise you guys. I came here with the others–”
For someone who says she hates her ex, you sure do know how to act like she’s still the love of your life.
“–this was all Tzuyu’s idea. Let’s go find them and I saw Dahyun ther–”
For someone who says she hates her ex, you sure do know how to act like she’s still the love of your life.
Jeongyeon disappeared to search for the other and Nayeon was still distracted with her thoughts. She was walking aimlessly with no place in mind. Some would come up to Nayeon to tell her she did a good job, some asked for a photo, but she wasn’t really paying much attention to any of it. Her eyes wandered in the dark room, searching for a person in mind.
Nayeon, quit being a coward.
She spotted Sana talking to the rest of the other cast members near the entrance of the theater.
“Sana, I have to tell you something.” They were simple words but the weight of her tone was enough for Sana to notice it was something important. Sana’s playful smile she had a moment ago turned into something serious.
“What is it about? We need to go back to the reception to do more interviews in a few minutes. Can it wait?”
“No. It can’t.”
They decided to go out and find a more private place to talk, but on their way out a figure stopped them. A hand clasped firmly on Sana’s arm and made her turn around.
“I’ve been calling you since last night, but you haven’t answered any of my calls,” Miyeon blocked their exit, completely ignoring Nayeon.
Nayeon stood there, eyes switching between Sana and Miyeon and their linked arms in front of her. The entire thing made her feel stupid.
What the hell was I thinking?
“I should probably leave. You two have to catch up,” Nayeon said, before stepping back.
“Nayeon wait–"
Her pace didn’t waver, she continued to walk until she saw the back exit of the venue. With nothing particular in mind, she ran. With her ridiculous dress and high heels. In a dark alley with nothing in hand but her phone in her purse.
The cold harsh truth was what she needed. She couldn’t believe how close she was from admitting to Sana about all of the feelings that were still looming in her chest. She wanted to scream out her frustration, she wanted to lash out. Both of her clenched fists were trembling. Guilt, hurt, regret. Nothing and everything all at once.
The water was cold. The sky was dark, the rain didn't provide any layer from prying cameras. But it was the last thing she cared about right now.
“Nayeon, can you just listen to me for a damn minute.” Sana mumbled, catching her breath. Apparently she managed to follow her through the dark alley. Just as soaked as her.
“Either you were good of an actress back then or you're a better liar than I thought,” Nayeon tried to mask the bitterness in her mouth with a laugh. "Was I really too easy to replace?"
“What the hell were you talking about? Shouldn't I be the one telling you that?” Sana marched towards her, unmasked fury covered across her face. Both of her pupils turned darker than what she always recalled, no ounce of warmth in them.
"What the fuck do you mean by that?" Nayeon was livid. Heat was forming in her eyes. Out of anger, out of spite, out of hurt.
“Summer break. It was the last day before I moved to Japan. I saw you at the front gate with a girl I barely recognize. I wanted to set things right and asked you to take me back. I was gonna admit everything about what my parents threatened if I didn’t come with them, but you were busy moving on faster than I thought.”
“You never called!” Words barely made sense. Nothing was able to stop Nayeon from spitting words in an attempt to blame her. It was only anger and hurt slipping past her lips.
“You broke up with me!”
“You never fought for us!”
“What's the point when you already gave up?!”
“I did all of that because of you!”
“If you just waited!”
“If you just stayed!” Nayeon yelled louder, every scream was louder than the first.
“What the hell are we even doing?” Sana shouted as hard as her lungs allowed, looking defeated, “We’re risking everything we have right now for something that happened years ago,” The bitterness of each memory floats in her mind, it makes her eyes burn with rage. Something Nayeon can't decipher why.
Nayeon tried to convince herself that all the anger she had had disappeared, because why were her shoulders trembling? Her chest aches so much that she couldn't think of a single rational thing. The raging sting wasn't because of anger, it was the gash in her heart that Sana did right before she left. Not a single day did Nayeon cope with the hollow home Sana left deep inside her heart and being.
Sana wrapped her arms around her, shaking as her tears were unyielding. With any force Sana had left in her body. Nayeon tried to break away from her grasp, but she was cold, vulnerable, and broken. Nayeon hits her in the chest, lashing out.
“You left!” Nayeon yelled, jabbing Sana's chest with a closed fist that didn't do justice to how her chest felt on every waking hour Sana had haunted her mind at night. “Sana, I fucking hate you,"
"You made me hate myself because even with the passing years I still can't unlove you not even for a second! "
Everything collapsed.
"I still love you even if you broke my heart, acted like it was nothing. Acting like I didn't exist."
Tears were falling and she hated to be this vulnerable to the person who'd always made her weak.
"I hate the fact that whenever I kiss strangers your face is all I could ever see."
There wasn't a single thing the universe could do that would stop Sana from pulling her for a kiss.
Wet from tears, diluted with the rain covered her face, warm barely radiating from Sana's touch as it lingered on her cheeks. Eyes trained intently on her eyes before breaking the last wall she never thought she'd put down again.
A jolt of intensity coursed through her body as she met Sana's lips. Soft and sweet, ever as she remembered. It was a rush to hold the very thing that rendered you weak. Deprived with a single sane thought, she pulled Sana impossibly closer.
Sana’s hand caresses her cheek as if she had been doing it her whole life. Nayeon stood there, a sudden sting on her chest for the familiarity of her warmth.
Shadows of doubt roam around the air. Unsure what to do next, Nayeon closed her eyes and let her fingers linger to Sana’s chin dropping down to her collar before placing it on the back of her urging her closer.
Nayeon never wanted to step another foot away from those lips.
But there was a flash.
And they both had reputations.

Chapter Text
Wet footsteps from the direction of the flash slowly faded into the vicinity.
“This was a mistake,” Sana mumbled in disbelief as her heart pounds hard in her chest, just a single moment of vulnerability and everything was in ruins. Sana tried to flee but Nayeon grabbed her arm before she could.
“Sana, take another step and I swear–”
“Swear what?”
“I swear you’ll lose me forever.” Burning anger colored Nayeon's eyes, hurt simmered underneath the obvious fury in two orbs, hot tears mixed with the cool raindrops falling across Nayeon’s face.
The threat seemed to ground Sana, her eyes softened as guilt overtook her; Their gaze never left one another, and neither dared to break the silence that fell between them as panic slowly creeps into both of them. Nayeon faintly hoped this was just some twisted joke.
“I’m sorry,” Sana finally said, lowering her eyes, and slumping her shoulders looking exasperated and tired. “It’s just that I lost everything. My career is the only thing I have left. My parents disowned me when I refused to live with them in Japan. I lost my parents; I lost the life I left behind in Korea. Most importantly, I lost you.” Sana’s eyes met with hers as she said those last words, tears falling from her face as she tried to control her breathing. She was trembling.
“I’m so scared, Nayeon,” Sana buried her face in her neck as she heaved. “If I lose this too, it just feels like I lost you for nothing.”
“We’ll fix this,” Nayeon urged closer and wrapped her arms around Sana’s shaking body. “I promise.”
They managed to go to Nayeon’s house. It was a gift from her parents when she finally debuted as an idol. The last time she was in here was a few months ago. She doesn’t stay here much besides when she has a long break from a comeback, instead, Nayeon uses one of her apartments at the heart of the city when she’s working. She figured it was more convenient.
“No one will bother us here,” Nayeon said as she flicked the lights on and entered inside. The place was big and elegant. The interior was full of sleek monotone colors.
“I’ll go grab us some clothes. There’s a bathroom to the left and there’s also one near my room.”
Nayeon lent her some clothes and they both took a hot shower. They met in the living room and sat on the sofa facing each other. Nayeon tried not to focus on how attractive Sana looked with damp hair falling on her shoulders. No, she didn’t think about how inviting Sana looked when she saw tiny droplets of water dripping across the soft skin on her neck while she wore her shirt.
Trying to rearrange her jumbled thoughts, she cleared her throat; Getting Sana’s attention.
“You’re wrong about earlier,” Nayeon finally said, confusion was evident across Sana’s face but before she could ask Nayeon added, “You still had your friends. You were still a part of their lives. You visited Momo’s studio the most, you encouraged Chaeyoung to pursue being a music producer, you constantly talk to Dahyun, Tzuyu would always speak about you so fondly whenever someone mentions your name, Mina and Jihyo wouldn’t have been engaged if you didn’t knock some senses into them, even Jeongyeon made a celebratory drink named after you when you won that Oscar. You’re their friends as much as I am to them.” Nayeon had this earnest drip in her voice, she inched her hand slowly, her right hand delicately intertwined with Sana. Nayeon’s hesitant eyes watch her the entire time, waiting for her to flinch at the contact.
Sana didn’t.
“And now, you’re back. We’re here. Together.”
Nayeon squeezed her hand for a brief moment, a flash of doubt engulfed her, her next words had trouble coming out. When the next words were uttered, her voice sounded so small. She cringed at how vulnerable she sounded, “I’m still yours. Never once did I stop being.” Nayeon pressed her soft lips to her knuckles, as soft as Nayeon could as if she was scared any second Sana would yank her hand and run away.
Tears were falling again from her eyes, but Sana chuckled fondly. “Since when did you become awfully cheesy? Didn’t just say in an interview last month that every time I laugh an angel dies?”
Nayeon smiled back, “You got to admit, it was funny.”
“Yeah, ha ha ha,” Sana tried to keep her face and her tone neutral. It could’ve fooled Nayeon if she didn’t see the corner of Sana’s mouth twitching.
“It was so funny,” Sana leaned in, looping her arms to Nayeon's neck. A hint of playfulness in her eyes. The smell of Sana’s hair invades Nayeon’s senses, hyper-aware of how close their faces were.
Sana’s warm breath hits her neck.
“Very.”
Sana briefly pressed her lips to her jaw.
“Very.”
Then to her cheek.
“Funny.”
Finally, to her lips.
//
Sana kissed her softly, moving her lips with no intent on turning it to something more, but as soon as Nayeon moved past the initial shock, she found herself tugging Sana's bottom lip between hers and tracing it with her tongue. Sana responded with a breathy moan.
“God, I missed doing this,” Nayeon mumbled, placing a series of soft gentle kisses down her throat which she knew Sana liked so much. Nayeon sucked the spot just below the ear, near her pulse, she knew Sana was sensitive there. She heard Sana sigh then started to tug Nayeon’s hair to meet her lips once again.
Each time the kiss lingered just a little longer than the last something between her legs throbbed.
Nayeon tried to press Sana to her back, but Sana was resisting, fully knowing well where this was leading to. She refused to have their make-up sex on a couch. “Where’s your bed?” Sana pants, trying to conceal the want in her voice.
Nayeon doesn’t break the kiss, she just tugged Sana closer walking backward as she led Sana to her bedroom, neither seemed to slow down until they reached her bed.
Much to their delight, both of their shirts and bras were soon discarded on the floor. Eager to resume where they had left off, Nayeon sat on Sana’s thighs, straddling her. She groans at the pressure when Sana pulls her close with her hands on her ass.
Falling to the slow rhythm of Sana’s hands, Nayeon finds herself grinding against her, Sana’s hips try to meet her movements in a desperate attempt for more friction. Sana’s mouth latches on to her neck, lowering by the second.
Nayeon was wearing shorts while Sana was wearing pajama pants. The thin material of Nayeon’s shorts has a wet patch already, she was growing wetter with each thrust, and Sana hadn’t even touched her properly.
She rested her head on Sana’s shoulder when a sudden moan erupted from her lips when Sana’s tongue flicked her nipple. Sana wanted to hear Nayeon lose herself more, she sucked the hardened bud softly while her tongue circled the whole thing in a torturous manner, leveraging Nayeon’s position.
This was driving Nayeon mad, this wasn’t enough, and Sana enjoyed knowing that.
“You’re so beautiful, baby,” Sana mumbled, kissing and sucking the delicate skin between her breasts.
“Is this your way of hate fucking me?” Nayeon whined when Sana removed her hands from her ass.
Sana’s eyebrows furrowed, “I want to take this slow. Savor each moan as I make you come with my fingers and tongue.” Sana husked, as if making her point she pressed two fingers to the wet patch of her shorts. The slow precise movement to her clit, a tantalizingly slow circular motion that makes Nayeon’s breath hitch.
Sana pressed her lips to her ears as she added more speed to her moving fingers, the thin material of her shorts made it easier for her to feel Sana’s fingers. “I want to make you come again and again and again, ” Sana said, emphasizing the word as she moved her fingers.
Nayeon could only close her eyes and whine in frustration, she doesn’t seem able to say she needed more. Much more.
“Make you scream my name until you lose your voice.” She dipped her fingers to the waistband of her shorts. Nayeon was drowning in anticipation, she was never as patient as Sana.
“I wanna make it up for all the time we lost,” Sana whispered in her ear, stroking her up and down. Touch her nowhere near where she wants. “I wanna make love to you until the sun fucking rises.”
“Sana, I swear to god if you don–“ Her words were stopped when a sinful sound emerged from her lips. Sana easily slipped her fingers without warning. No cohesive thought was present in her mind anymore.
“ You're so wet for me, baby,” Sana was teasing her, but Nayeon was way past the point of caring now that Sana was pumping two fingers in and out of her.
It wasn’t enough, her shorts limited Sana’s movements and frustration was boiling in her.
“Take it off,” Sana requested, she didn’t need to be told twice. Nayeon whined at the loss of contact but soon she was on her feet. With one swift move, her shorts and underwear were gone. Sana’s burning gaze never left her body.
Sana crashed her lips once more when she went back to bed, the kiss hungrier than they usually had. Nayeon didn’t need to voice out her frustration again because Sana was already touching her clit. Flicking the tiny bud that shoots her with a thousand sensations. The most obscene sound left her lips had just left and she knew it wasn’t the last one for the night. She clutched Sana’s back for support, leaning forward not fully in control of her body now.
“Fuck,” Nayeon bit Sana’s neck at the intense pleasure, heavily panting when Sana focused on her chest. Kissing and sucking every exposed skin she could reach. She lowers her gaze and Sana thoroughly fucking her with her fingers, she could the wet sounds her pussy makes as Sana pumps her fingers inside her. Moaning when Sana curled her finger to the right spot, scratching Sana’s back, breathing hard. She could feel her orgasm building, she was close.
“Sana, I’m close,” She managed to mumble, bucking faster to meet her fingers. The hot sensation of her building orgasm was making her elicit sounds she didn’t think she would make again.
Then Sana stopped.
“I was so close” Nayeon’s frustrated cry was caused by a painful ache in her belly, Nayeon was close to tears, and the pent-up frustration was close to turning to anger when Sana was on her back. Fire burned in her chest, Nayeon was about to yell when Sana laid on her back and started to tug her knees to move. Realization suddenly stopped Nayeon’s anger.
Her legs felt like jelly as she moved closer to Sana’s move. A dark mischievous glint in her eyes as smirked at Nayeon.
Nayeon was dripping wet.
Nayeon was so turned on but hadn’t done this for a long time. She was afraid she might hurt Sana. Seeing the doubt in Nayeon’s eyes, Sana braced her arm on each leg. Holding her into place. Kissing her inner thighs slowly before muttering assurance.
“Don’t worry about me, baby.” Sana kissed her inner thighs, dangerously close to the source of Nayeon’s wetness. “Don’t hold back, okay?”
Nayeon nodded before lowering herself.
Sana was waiting for her response, and as soon as Nayeon nodded she said, “Now let’s see if you taste just like I remember.”
Sana heard a loud moan; it took her a moment to recognize it as hers. Nayeon gripped the headboard tightly as Sana ate her out with intent. It was so hot. The whole thing was lewd. Sana’s head was between her legs as she ate her out. Sana’s tongue flicked and sucked her clit as she stared at Nayeon bucking into her mouth while her head was thrown back. Muttering curses and moans as she was drowning in pleasure.
She was already too close, panic washed over her, scared that Sana was going to pull away. “Sana. I’m so fucking close.” Nayeon mumbled, “Don’t dare stop– fuck .”
Sana’s finger entered her, pumping relentlessly before adding another finger, while her gorgeous mouth continued to focus on her clit .
Nayeon was a moaning mess, her orgasm was close. She looked down and saw Sana’s hooded eyes trained on her. One last curl of her fingers at the right spot and soon she was coming. Hard.
Her body takes over, bucking wildly as she rides out her orgasm, Sana welcomed the hot liquid with her mouth but she was not stopping.
“Wait–Sana I just came!” Nayeon’s voice was strained, confused by the sensation and pain of being overstimulated. Her hips move involuntarily, moving in different directions not sure if it wants to push away or into Sana’s mouth.
“Sana, it’s too much.” Nayeon’s voice was hoarse.
Sana ignored her and continued, her fingers working through another orgasm. Which didn’t take long because Nayeon was breathing hard. Her body spasms as her second orgasm coursed through her. Her vision blurred and she fumbled and collapsed beside Sana. Panting so hard, she closed her eyes until she was so her vision was back to normal.
“Best orgasm you ever had?” Sana teased, leaning on her elbow as she watched me try to even my breath.
“Fuck you.”
“Oh, I sure hope so. I got worried I pushed you too far and passed out.” Sana’s playful tone was evident, but concern was tinged in her eyes. Nayeon could see that.
“Give me a few minutes,” Nayeon said, she focused on steadying her breath, eager to return the favor and maybe even pull Sana’s stunt on her. “That mind-blowing orgasm doesn’t mean I will forget the stunt you pulled.”
“What stunt?” Nayeon peered to her side, Sana feigned an innocent look but her eyes were telling something different.
~~~
“Hey there sleepyhead,” Nayeon tried to make her voice as normal as possible, trying to hide the strain behind her voice, she didn’t want to see Sana’s smug smile. Nayeon can live by admitting that Sana might be responsible for the hoarseness of her voice. She can be right but not for this one.
Sana leaned closer; Eyes still closed, but she already had a soft smile spreading across her face. Sana mumbled, her voice sounding raw and raspy, Nayeon tried not to smile at that.
“So, it wasn’t a wild wet dream?” Sana opened her eyes and peered at Nayeon. Though her tone was playful, Nayeon could see her eyes were softer now, her lazy smile splashed something warm in Nayeon’s chest.
“We need to get up and eat.”
“No thank you,” Sana pulled her covers back up, “I ate a lot last night.”
A quick flash of images burned in her mind as she blinked, Nayeon cleared her throat as if it would make the heat of her cheeks disappear.
“I specifically didn’t hear you complain–”
“Sana–”
”–about that time I–“
“Sana, as much as I love fooling around in bed with you again, I think we really need to do a lot more talking. “
“You’re right,” Sana agreed, slowly sitting up, unabashed that she was still wearing her baby suit. Not that Nayeon would ever complain.
“I want this to work,” Sana added, “I know healthy communication is not our best suit, but at least we were very vocal in more ways than one.”
Nayeon ignored that last part. She honestly didn’t know where Sana got her innuendos, but thankfully after Nayeon got up and got dressed, she finally stopped.
By five in the afternoon, both were properly bathed and dressed. They ordered takeout and ate in comfortable silence.
“What do we do now?” Sana asked while she sat beside Nayeon and pretended to watch something on tv, Nayeon rested her head on top of Sana’s shoulder. They both still hadn’t discussed anything besides agreeing to turn off their phones. Nayeon figured it was because they might be stalling. She should know because Nayeon’s still scared to mess this up.
Sana’s shoulders became tense. Nayeon’s anxiety started to spike when Sana faced her. Mirroring the same worry in her own eyes.
“It’s not worth it,” Sana said with finality.
What?
Her heart roared louder, Nayeon could feel her face blanching at each second passing.
“What’s not worth it?” Nayeon asked, needing more clarifications, wanting it crystal clear.
Sana tilted her face looking like it was already obvious. When Nayeon didn’t respond she realized it could mean both ways.
“Oh god, baby, no.” Sana saw Nayeon’s stiffness. She noticed the tense way she sat, her face contorted to a tight blank look, and it was enough reason for her to pull Nayeon for a quick kiss. When she felt Nayeon’s panic dissolve, Sana pulled away. “I meant the constant worry of getting caught, the anxiety of any lurking cameras threatening to expose us, the possible backlash and effect this has on our careers. They sound unpleasant but it’s not worth losing you.”
Sana searched for Nayeon’s hands; She grazed her fingers at the back of Nayeon’s hand and rubbed slow tiny circles, soothing Nayeon’s nerves.
“We both made mistakes in the past. Believe me, I would go back and make it right if I could. I saw my life without you in it, five long years to be exact, but I knew I would be perfectly happy to give that life up if I had you back.” Sana’s heart was beating so fast, her hands were shaking, she felt so bare while Nayeon stared at her, she ignored the tightening in her chest and continued. “I don’t care if the paparazzi already leaked our photo, I also won’t care if they didn’t. Whatever happens, we’ll deal with it.”
Nayeon caught Sana’s eyes. Bright, hopeful, and raw. It was then she realized Sana was waiting for her to speak up, it was her turn to reply.
“We were young. We didn’t know better. We both made mistakes, and I'm sorry I blamed you for mine.” Nayeon gently said, biting her lip, failing to even her voice. Everything was too much for her, all the flowing emotions, the bottled-up feelings she tried to ignore, the hurt and sadness she tried to repress. Sana was looking at her gently, a sad smile on display assuring her to go on. “You left and I didn’t even try to stop you.”
“I still remembered that night you talked about,” Guilt laced with the words Nayeon said, she warily looked up at Sana asking if she could continue. Sana half smiled but still nodded.
“We were supposed to go to Hawaii for a summer trip with the others. We were already broken up. I knew you were leaving for Japan. I didn’t want to come anymore; It just didn’t feel right. Mina tried to cancel our trip for my sake, but I convinced them to still go. I was hurting, I thought if I could pretend I wasn’t, it would eventually come true.” Nayeon went on and confessed something she never got to admit.
“I got really drunk; Some girl drove me home. I kissed her afterward, but all I saw was your face.” Tears were forming in her eyes, but she tried not to let them fall. Clenching her jaw as she regrets the decision she made, wondering if she did something different, five years wouldn’t be wasted.
“I’m sorry. I should’ve waited,” Nayeon was crying. “I should’ve–“
Sana reached for her face. Both thumbs wiped away her tears before kissing her. Crashing their lips together, pouring every emotion into it. The sting of the memory of going back to see Nayeon kissing another girl reopened the unhealed wound.
“It doesn’t matter. You’re here. You’re kissing me.” Sana said out loud, not sure if it was for her or for Nayeon.
“I was scared when I woke up you had already left,” Nayeon whispered, voicing out her fear.
“I was scared when I woke up, you’d tell me you didn’t want me.” Sana bit her lip in admission.
Nayeon kissed her again. She kissed her until both of their lips were swollen.
Sana pulled away eventually, she was still breathless. She placed her head on Nayeon’s lap, lifting Nayeon’s hand and pulling it tucked under her chin, humming contently at the physical contact. Nayeon’s free hand went to Sana’s hair, gently combing her hair and relaxing. “I wouldn’t mind living like this, mind-blowing sex until morning then lazing around in the afternoon. This life seems very tempting.”
“You forgot that normal people actually need a job to live?”
“As far as I know you’re a trust fund baby,” Sana said, waving her hands jokingly. “We’ll be fine.”
“Gold digger,” Nayeon teased. Sana gasped; Her eyes wide before she smacked Nayeon on her shoulder. No real fire inside her eyes. The corners of her mouth threatened to crumble the fake upset look Sana was pitching her.
Nayeon could only chuckle when Sana realized she wasn’t buying it. She mumbled something about trust funds and old money wealth.
“You’ll be a fine trophy wife,” Nayeon teased, booping her nose.
“Slow down there Im, are you already trying to tie the knot after one wild night with me?” Sana was beaming, her playful eyes shining bright, the smug smirk on her face again thinking she’d back down.
Nayeon leaned down and captured Sana’s still-swollen lips. A quick peck just to get her caught off guard. “And what if I am?” Nayeon challenged, raising her eyebrows at how’d Sana react. Will she continue with the light banter or try to take this conversation seriously?
“You need to wine and dine me first before you can wife me up, Im,” Sana replied, “Trust fund baby or not. You’d have to work for it.”
~~~
Night came and they still hadn’t checked their phone. Nayeon knew Sunmi would be furious. She ditched the movie premier and ignored her calls.
It was a good thing they have a week off after the movie premiere. They both knew it didn’t mean that they could go off and ignore their managers’ calls, but apart from the mess they already made, it couldn’t get any worse.
By the third night, they knew they couldn’t order more takeout. Hiding in the most inconspicuous clothes, partnered up with a cap, face masks, and a pair of sunglasses, they bought groceries and went out.
They were just having a normal day out and buying groceries. No one bothered to look twice, no flashes, no cameras. It felt normal. Like they were just a normal couple enjoying a normal day in their normal and domestic lives.
Sana tried to make dinner and Nayeon almost called the fire department.
~~~
“I don’t want to get up,” Sana groaned.
“We have to, it's already two in the afternoon,” Nayeon tried to sit up, but Sana’s arm snaked their arms in their chest. Intentionally brushing her bare chest as her hand passes through her other side, holding her in place.
“Don’t leave,” Sana nuzzled her way to Nayeon’s neck. Lips ghosted her pulse, her warm breath hitting her collar.
“Sana we can’t just–“
“Stay,” Sana husked, her hot wet mouth softly kissing her neck. Nayeon acted on impulse, soon she was leaning back exposing more skin. The arm around her moved, and soon enough Sana’s hand was roaming her chest. She felt Sana smile, she knew the lack of clothes was to her advantage.
When Sana Nayeon wasn’t complaining she sat on Nayeon’s stomach.
Nayeon enjoyed the view.
Sana went back and leaned in, meeting her lips.
“Nayeon, I swear to God, don’t you dare hide. I know you’re in here–WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK?“
Nayeon pulled the sheets. Trying to cover up what was left of their dignity from the uninvited guest. She gave Jeongyeon a deadly glare. She knows looks can’t kill, but she might as well still try.
Sana on the other hand didn’t move, she stayed on top of her. Resting her full body on Nayeon’s as if she was the comfiest mattress. Nayeon tried her hardest to ignore that Sana wasn’t wearing anything and the fact that there was a damp spot on her stomach.
“Go away,” Sana whined and pulled the sheet over their heads as if Jeongyeon wouldn’t know they were lying there. Nayeon couldn’t help but smile at how ridiculous this seemed.
“I bet if we ignored her, she would go away,” Nayeon whispered, it was meant as a joke, but Sana didn’t think so because she tried to move.
“You do know I could see and hear you from under the sheet, right?” Jeongyeon finally said.
Leave it to Jeongyeon to always pussy block.
"I mean guys, by all means, go finish where you left off, but I will not take a single step until one of you answers me."
"Okay."
"Sure.”
Sana smirked and actually sat up. On reflex, Nayeon’s hands went on the sheet, so that Sana was only exposing her back.
“I swear to god someone should answer me right now or I’ll splash cold water in that very bed.” Jeongyeon threatened, which was just ignored.
“It’s not the first time this bed got that wet,” Sana said suggestively. Sana was about to lean in for a kiss. Nayeon didn’t think Sana was kidding, she knew they needed to stop fooling around, but she enjoyed annoying Jeongyeon. So, she met Sana halfway.
“For Christ's sake!” Jeongyeon was absolutely fuming.
“Nayeon, are you here? I got a text from Jeongyeon. Also, what’s with the yelling–“ Momo called out; her voice was nearing. “God dammit not again.”
Sana knew the jig was up. She lay beside Nayeon but not without a few muttered curses about pussy block and locking doors. “How the hell did you even know I was here?” Nayeon yelled.
“You called the house cleaners earlier and told them not to show up,“ Jeongyeon answered, she didn’t need to look at Jeongyeon and Momo to know that her head snapped to the other side of the room to avoid looking at Sana, who didn’t bother to cover up her upper body.
“Oh please, it’s not like this is the first time you walked in on us,” Sana said, she shot a glare at both of her friends while crossing her arms.
“That was five years ago,” Momo said as she tried to hide the smile on her lips, but Sana saw the slight movement on the corners of her mouth. “Just be glad Jihyo wasn’t the one here.”
That Nayeon could agree on.
~~~
After getting clothed, they finally settled in the living room. Sana let Nayeon explain what happened, when Miyeon was mentioned, she caught Momo giving Nayeon a knowing look. Sana reminded herself to ask about it later.
When their friends got up to date, they were silent, they were processing everything.
“No one leaked the picture,” Momo informed them. “At least not yet.”
“What?!”
Jeongyeon and Momo nodded at the wide-eyed couple. Sana looked at Nayeon, who was also looking at her. This wasn’t what they expected. They thought the picture was circulated all over the internet already. Nayeon hoped that after a full week of being disconnected from the world and the news online everyone was at least calmed down. Frankly, Sana wasn’t complaining if being disconnected from the world meant getting held up inside a house and experiencing all the domestic stuff normal couples experience. Plus, the sex was great.
“That’s why we’re trying to find both of you,” Jeongyeon flashed them another glare. “Now, what’s your plan?”
“We didn’t think the picture was not out yet,” Sana confessed, giving a sheepish smile.
After some thought, Nayeon finally spoke up.
“We’ll do nothing,” Nayeon said. “Either they haven’t decided to post it online or they blackmailed one of our agencies into not releasing it. I’m sure my agency wouldn’t because they hate me at the moment, so I hope Sana’s agency didn’t. At least not yet.” Nayeon eyed her carefully before she continued.
“If by the time we go back to our schedules and the pictures aren’t leaked yet, we’re gonna ease our fans to our dating news. Regardless of what will happen, we’re not gonna hide anything. We don’t have any dating clause in contracts.” Nayeon flashed her a warm smile. Sana intertwined their hands together and gave her a reassuring squeeze before returning a smile as soft as hers.
“If worse came to worst, I think Mina and Jihyo wouldn’t mind helping our broke and jobless asses.” Sana jokes.
Jeongyeon and Momo only left when they promised to tell the others what happened. Nayeon even had to promise Jeongyeon she needed to be in the room. Coincidentally the next time they saw Jihyo it was a few days before her wedding to Mina.
That night was very eventful.
~~~
Eventually, things settled down after Mihyo’s wedding. Everything went back to normal, it felt like nothing changed. Well, except for the occasional visits when their schedules allowed them to.
Sana sometimes decides to visit her when she is in the studio. Nayeon’s latest album was released a few months ago, but she had a lot of ideas for a few songs already. Let’s just say she was kinda inspired at the moment.
“Tell me, do you wanna be my lover? Are you ready to be mine?” Nayeon continued to sing her lines.
“That’s a good take, we’ll just have to write the bridge and tweak some lines from the second chorus, and we got another hit.” The music producer said from the other side of the glass. He was smiling at her, obviously pleased with the progress they made. “Let’s call it a day. See you tomorrow.”
Nayeon nodded, she returned the headgear to the stand and passed through the glass door going to the other side of the room. She hasn’t left the recording room just yet, her session ended early today. She had time to spare, Sana also had something going on today so there wasn’t any reason to go home early.
Nayeon decided to sit on the couch, she saw Sunmi’s bag was still there and wondered where she went. Usually, her manager didn’t leave her bag behind.
Sunmi was furious enough because of Nayeon’s full week of not checking her phone, when Nayeon told her what happened her manager’s head almost exploded. Even Nayeon knew she deserved a raise more than anyone at this point.
Any rational manager would have suggested ending the relationship. She could’ve just dropped Nayeon on the spot and avoided the PR disaster, but she didn’t. Nayeon held her breath, she had a speech prepared fighting anyone who would convince Nayeon her relationship wasn’t worth it, she expected the worst, but Sunmi looked at her for a long time and sighed.
You must’ve fallen really hard, huh?
Sunmi was a miracle worker, in a week she took care of everything. She prepared the PR team and coordinated with Sana’s team to ask about how they’ll handle their possible public statements.
That entire week was hell, from battling with their company executives, thinking of any PR disaster and scandal taking could be a problem, she even had lawyers on standby if Nayeon’s endorsements wanted to pull out.
Before her thoughts wandered more, she heard the door open and Sunmi came out of the door. She scanned the room and saw Nayeon sitting. “Are you done for the day?”
Nayeon nodded, “Jinyeon, called it a day.”
“Why are you still here?”
“I might do an IG live before I go home. I’m in no rush.” Nayeon just shrugged, Sunmi handed her the phone that was used for her social media accounts and right now, for her IG live. “You should go too. I can take it from here.”
Sunmi nodded and got her things, Nayeon hugged her goodbye and told her she’ll just return the phone tomorrow.
She searched for the app and started the live. She saw her face and was glad the lighting was okay. She was waiting for the numbers to go higher before she greeted the viewers.
The comments were coming in. It was the usual question. She answered them one on one.
: Unnie, how’s your day?
: What’s your TMI for the day?
: What song have you been listening to lately?
She heard the door open and expected Sunmi to come back because she left something. It wasn’t her.
Sana
Sana wore a mask and cap. Holding her finger to where her lips are located, signing her to not tell made her arrival obvious, which was too late because she had a bright smile already on her lips and the viewers were curious.
: Did anyone also hear the door open or was it just me?
: Nayeon, where are you looking?
: Wait–is that Sana?
: What’s happening? Why is Nayeon smiling?
: I want someone to look at me like that
: I saw someone mention it was Sana
: Can someone confirm if someone saw Sana?
: Guys, chill we haven’t seen who arrived
Ignoring the fast comments flashing on the phone Nayeon raised her eyebrow as if to ask her why she was here.
She heard her personal phone vibrate. Sana texted. Nayeon didn’t try to stop the soft chuckle that escaped her lips.
[Sana, 5:34pm]: I wanted to surprise you. Saw Sunmi on her way out. Good thing you’re still here.
: I have never seen her this happy. WHO MESSAGED HER?
: Quit mentioning Sana. This is NAYEON’S live
: Is it Sana? pls let it be Sana
: Nayeon is dating someone???????
: DID YOU SEE THAT SMILE WHEN SHE LOOKED AT HER SCREEN?
: She’s down bad frfr
: Trading my soul to look at that message
: I swear to god it’s Sana
Nayeon saw the comments and got an idea. With one hand, she carefully typed her message making sure her screen wasn’t shown in the live.
[Nayeon, 5:36pm]: Go to the other side, I got an idea.
[Nayeon, 5:36pm]: Trust me.
Sana’s phone rang twice.
: She’s texting the person inside the same room???
: WHO IS IT?
: Wait, isn’t that Sana’s phone?
: Iphones can have the same notification sound guys. CHILL.
Sana tilted her head and gave her a confused look, but she followed what Nayeon asked. She has curiosity laced in her eye while a smile is plastered on her face. She placed her bag on the farthest side of the couch from Nayeon and then opened the door.
Once Sana’s inside, she felt Sana’s hot gaze on her on each step when Nayeon stood up and went to the recording buttons. She had been here and recorded a lot of songs to at least know the basics. Nayeon switched a few controls and pushed a bunch of buttons. Both sides of the glass are muted.
Nayeon was smiling when she saw Sana watching, anticipating what she was planning.
She looked back at the screen and saw the comments were very active. At the corner of the screen, she saw Sana’s bag lying on the couch, it was just partly seen but it was still enough for the fans to investigate.
Shit.
She adjusted the camera slightly and tried to act normal. Mentally cursing herself for the slip-up.
: Did you guys see the bag at the corner?
: Nayeon, who are you with?
: I recognized that bag it’s Prada!!!
: Who messaged you?
: Isn’t Nayeon Louis Vuitton endorser?
”Woah guys, what’s happening? Why does everyone keep mentioning Sana?” Nayeon tried to act normal, but she was trying not to smirk when her eyes drifted to Sana’s for a brief second.
: Nayeon, please touch your nose if you're dating Nayeon.
Nayeon combed her hair and casually touched her nose. Fighting a smile as she did.
“Since everyone keeps on mentioning Sana, let’s try to call her.”
Behind the camera, she dangled her personal phone and Sana understood what she’s gonna do.
“Let’s just hope she answers,” Nayeon didn’t hide her smile anymore. Sana decided to wait for the phone to ring for a few seconds before she answered.
“Hey,” Sana said on the other line, Nayeon didn’t want to risk getting caught looking behind the camera to know Sana was grinning.
“Sana, I’m doing a live right now. You’re on speaker.”
“Oh really ?”
“Yeah. Everyone keeps mentioning your name.” Nayeon chuckled, her eyes itching to wander to the spot where Sana was standing.
“What are they saying?”
“Wait, let me see.”
: They’re so cute
: Nayeon, are you dating sana???
: Sana sounds happy
: OFC they’re dating I mean look at that smile
: Nayeon, just admit that you guys are going out
“A lot of them are asking if we’re dating.” The corner of her lips twitched, she almost smirked. She risked a glance at Sana and saw her grinning on the other side. “Well. Miss Minatozaki Sana, are you dating me? My dear fans want to know.”
A mischievous smile on her lips as she said those words and she knew the fans were in a frenzy.
“I don’t know, am I?” Sana played along with her suggestive tone dripping from her lips. Letting out a soft chuckle after. Nayeon didn’t care anymore if the fans caught her eyes looking past through the camera. She only cared that Sana was smiling from ear to ear staring at her.
Nothing mattered, she was happy.
Nayeon cleared her throat, trying so hard to sound serious before she shushed Sana jokingly. She was making the effort to avoid looking at Sana. Who was smiling at her from inside the studio.
“Don’t laugh,” Nayeon ordered, “Every time you laugh an angel dies.” She tried to reprimand her in a deadpan voice and failed.
Nayeon was grinning, the comments were rapidly flashing at this point. She might actually break the app, she thinks. She saw Sana roll her eyes but the smile never left her face. Nayeon moved the camera, so it wasn’t on her, it just showed the corner of the room.
As soon as she was sure her face wasn’t shown in the live. She mouthed something.
“I love you,” Nayeon mouthed, her eyes twinkling with fond amusement.
@SweetSattang: Guys did you see the Prada bag on the couch at the back when Nayeon turned the camera to the side? That’s Sana's bag! She posted an IG story an hour ago!
| @SweetSattang: Sana, do you have something to share with the class?
@Queentozaki: I personally BELIEVE sanayeon is a menace and should not be allowed in society.
@NayeonNabongs: They’re just teasing us at this point.
@ImNayeonStan: THEY’RE UNAPOLOGETIC. THEY’RE UNHINGED. THEIR PDA IS A MENACE TO SOCIETY, BUT LORD I WANT WHAT THEY HAVE.
@PurpleSana: we could’ve achieved world peace if sanayeon would just announce they’re dating already
Minatozaki Sana Broke the Internet with Just a Rose.
@BlueNayeonie: nayeon was caught holding a rose earlier, right??????
@ImNayeonStan: there's no need for a confirmation at this point
@SaNayeonator: NAYEON IS THERE SOMETHING YOU’D LIKE TO SHARE WITH THE CLASS?
@SapphicNayeon: THEY ARE UNHINGED QUIT MAKING THE INTERNET EXPLODE AND JUST SAY IT. I CAN TAKE IT. I CAN TAKE IT.
They had always found a way to get into mischief. They were a PR team’s worst nightmare.
Sana left a cryptic comment on one of Nayeon’s IG lives that she thought no one would see nor understand. Nayeon, unfortunately, didn’t see Sana’s comment, but she had a good laugh when she noticed that their names were trending.
prvtmntzksn: U26CI124Q.
Some fans took a screenshot even if it wasn’t Sana’s official account. It was just a pixelated screenshot from a fan, but it was enough for the fans to speculate. What’s funnier was that they were actually right.
But Nayeon’s incident was far worse than that. She had one too many drinks at the MAMA awards when she almost revealed something that was not meant
“Shout out to my designer for this amazing dress,” Nayeon grabbed the mic sluggishly, trying not to look drunk, “And shout out to the person who's gonna take it–“ off tonight .
Her fans immortalized that moment. #DrunkNayeon was trending with over three million tweets, a meme circulated with a lot of versions of “Shoutout to my ____ for ___ and to the person who’s gonna _____ captions.
Sana was wheezing when she read the tweets out loud to a hangover Nayeon the next day.
~~~
“I’m sure you’re more than aware that the internet has got a liking to your sweet and blossoming friendship since filming your latest movie,” The red carpet reporter said, “But I got to ask for the sake of the fans, is there something more going on between you two?”
“I don't really want to reveal that. I'll leave it up to everyone's imagination.” Nayeon jokingly winked at the interviewer.
“She’s kidding,” Sana added after a short moment, trying to salvage the interview, fighting the urge to send Nayeon a pointed look. The interviewer was too stunned to keep the conversation from turning awkward and silent.
“Why do they think we’re dating?” Nayeon asked Sana, she was trying to bury the smile that wanted to bloom on her face. Sana had a perfectly composed poker face mask at her disposal but the fun glint in Nayeon’s eyes was too inviting not to give in.
“Hmm,” Sana said as if giving it much thought. Playing along. The edge of her lips was threatening to twitch upwards. “I think it’s because we seem to be very good friends?” Sana innocently said with a straight face, playfulness flickered in her eyes, but she did a good job at looking contemplative.
Nayeon nodded solemnly as if she also didn’t know what the phrase meant. “Yeah, we’re very very good friends.”
@NayeonPop: SANA IS PROBABLY GAY FOR PAY. SHE’S QUEERBAITING US!
@SanaSimp: LORD, I CAN'T BREATHE WHAT ARE THEY DOING TO ME
@SapphicNayeonie: BE GOD AS MY LAST WITNESS I WILL HAUNT THEM DOWN IF THEY’RE NOT DATING AND JUST MESSING WITH US
@SanaStan29: Sana, I see what you did there.
@Shibasana12: They think they’re so sleek! I love and hate them for it.
@Queentozaki: DID EVERYBODY FORGET THAT THIS IS A PR STUNT???
| @NayeonNabongs: give it a rest. your fave is in love. go outside and touch some grass.💀
@ImNayeonStan: THEY KNOW WHAT THEY’RE DOING WITH THAT “VERY GOOD FRIENDS” BIT.
@NayeonNabongs: damn these bitches are gay as hell.
@SweetSattang: They’re messing with us. I swear to GOD.
~~~
“Are you mad?”
“What? Why would I be mad?
“I've been sitting here for five minutes, and you haven't looked at me once.” Nayeon could hear the pout in Sana’s voice.
Nayeon knew what was happening. She had a feeling, but it only took one more look from Sana to know their cycles were in sync. Nayeon preferred to be quiet when she got her period. She was one of the fortunate ones who didn’t have painful cramps and was less moody than most. Sana was a different story, on a normal day Sana is an affectionate person, but it’s magnified multiple times when she’s on her period. She’s like a baby at times like this, craving attention and affection every minute. It wasn’t the first time this happened so she knew Sana might mistake her silence for something else.
“Baby, I’m driving,” Nayeon stopped a sigh that wanted to escape, reasoning with Sana was not usually effective.
“That's not an excuse, but okay,” Sana was crossing her arms, Nayeon knew how this would end. She learned her lesson two months ago when she refused to hug Sana given that she wanted to shower first because she just came from the gym and was full of sweat.
Before Sana decided to become upset and start tearing up. She reached for Sana’s hand and kissed the back of her hand softly; She made Sana’s hand rest on her thigh and hoped the physical contact was helping her calm down.
“Baby, I’m just tired,” she said softly, Nayeon returned her hand so that both hands were on the wheel again. “You do know we synced up, right?” She eyed Sana slowly, who just nodded in response.
“How about I make us some popcorn and watch that show you like?”
“Are there cuddles involved?”
“Of course. There are cuddles involved.”
~~~
Nayeon just accepted the fact that winter would melt before Sana’s smile. Nayeon knew the sun was beautiful, but it did not have a chance to compete with Sana. It barely is a fraction of her smile.
Sana saw her staring; she gently stroked her arm.
“When they look at you. Only look at me.” She whispered, everyone might be watching them both but none of it matters. She was happy. Red carpet event or not, her smile didn’t falter one bit.
"Kiss me again and I might let it happen." Nayeon teased, the flashing cameras were the last thing on her mind when Sana was smiling at her like this. No prying eyes nor the camera could waver them.
"I'd kiss you when the lights go out."
"I'll kiss you even if it's still on."
"You're such a tease."
"I'm glad it's working then."
"Why is your mouth still not on me? Get to it already,"
"And where's the fun in that?"
Not capable of a single rational thought, too caught up in the moment. She kissed Sana. Which was met with an absurd amount of reactions from their surroundings.
People behind the cameras were shouting questions. Demanding them to come closer, or to look at the cameras, or to do it again.
Nayeon chuckled, Sana could only raise her eyebrows in question. She has to admit, kissing Sana was not on her plan on how she’d announced that they were dating.
“Why are u looking at me as if I made the stars?” Sana questioned, breaking her train of thought.
Nayeon was smiling from ear to ear.
“I don't know… maybe because you did?”
@Shibasana12: tag yourself, im nayeon when she held sana’s hand. that’s me trying to look strong next to a pretty girl so she feels safe with me
@SweetSattang: sana gay for pay allegations. DECLINE. REJECTED. TRASHED.

@NabongsBunnie: oh, they’re definitely meeting each other with good feelings

@ImNayeonStan: NAYEON IS UNHINGED. WAIT, THEY BOTH ARE. SOMEONE STOP THEM.
@Queentozaki: I hope Nayeon can fight bc sHE’S ABOUT TO CATCH THESE HANDS. #StayAwayFromSana
