Kaeya can handle Childe’s relentless chaos without a word – but he's not as sure what to do with Thoma's gentle affections.
“Has anyone ever broken your heart?” Childe asked, bloodied and bruised and all Kaeya’s, finally.
He had a bad habit of showing up to disturb Kaeya’s work. Or perhaps it was simply that the heartbeat was bringing them to the same places. They lay there in the aftermath of battle, bodies littering the ground around them, the world finally soundless. Kaeya’s skin burnt where the sword struck him over his thigh.
“Heartbreak is not exactly how I’d put it.” Kaeya dropped his head onto the ground, eyes to the sky, but when he turned to the side he was able to catch a glimpse of Childe’s face pressed into his leg. “But someone made me give up on something I wanted very badly, once.”
