Work Text:

Waking up in Dabi's bed isn’t exactly the first thing Keigo expected after getting hurt from a mission. How the hell does he know he’s in Dabi’s bed to begin with? That’s pretty easy.

He could differentiate Dabi’s cologne anywhere.

Keigo hums, curling up more under the covers, still not conscious enough to take into his surroundings. Whatever drugs the doctors pumped into him must be part of the good stuff because Keigo can barely feel his face.

Keigo’s not gonna complain in that sense. It’s not everyday that one falls from the sky. Could always be worse, Keigo supposes.

The villain the Commission ordered him to take down, could have easily aimed at another part of his body as Keigo fell down.

Broken bones and a concussion is the least thing Keigo could have gotten out of that gigantic and massive screw up. The president must be seething right now in her chair; for how a simple assesination mission quickly turned into a spectacle for the world to see.

Mera probably wants to kill him, considering he is Keigo’s current handler. Oops. In Keigo’s defense it wasn’t like he actually wanted to self-sabotage his mission in the first place.

Sure, Keigo may have lots of kinks out there, but he’s pretty sure breaking bones isn’t one of them.

Still, there’s something about being confined to a bed that makes Keigo want to straight up die because rest isn’t an active part of Keigo’s life.

Quite on the contrary, Keigo’s always on the move. There’s a reason he holds the title of the fastest hero. So to be strapped to a bed almost feels like a punishment.

Which returns to our original question mark. Being that, how the hell Keigo ended up in Dabi’s bed in the first place. Keigo doesn’t remember how he got here; he only remembers the sound of his bones breaking and the poor bystanders frantically screaming for help.

Keigo’s pretty sure he’s not that dumb to call and expose his affiliation to Dabi’s in front of doctors, right? He scrunches his face, and tries to remember. Only to wince when he feels a vague pain in between his brows.

Ow, ow, ow.

But wait, maybe he’s not in Dabi’s bed in the first place. Maybe he’s—

“I can hear your thoughts from here,” a male and very tired voice interrupts Keigo from his thoughts. “Chill down, will ya? Ge—for fuck sakes, Keigo if you keep moving you’ll tear your stitches.”

Keigo turns around, and there is Dabi, right to his side, looking very much pissed while lighting up a cigarette with his index finger

“Gon’ share?” Keigo croaks, using his only functioning hand to poke Dabi on the ribs.

“No, dumbass” Dabi says, flipping him off. “Go back to sleep.”

“But D’biiii,” Keigo slurs out, as best as he can without injuring his fucked up shoulder. “Gimme.”

“I won’t share my cigars with you,” Dabi says, unaffected by the pout Keigo throws at him.

“Not ’ven one?”

“No.”

Poke.

“Mean.”

“You’re high as a kite,” Dabi replies and grunts when a boney finger pokes him again. He glares at him. “Stop.”

“Bu-”

“I don’t care. Go back to sleep.”

“Can’t sleep,” he replies and ignores the shudder that goes through him when that earns him a scrutinizing gaze from the younger man.

“Did the meds wear off?” Dabi asks, in a soft tone so different from the derisive and contemptuous personality Dabi is known for, the one Keigo knows he puts up as a front to the rest of the world.

“A bit,” Keigo replies, opting for the truth this time. Then, when he gets no reply he adds with a whine, making grabby hands. “M’cold.”

Dabi rolls his eyes and takes a smoke.

“There are more blankets in the first drawer. Feel free to take one,” Dabi adds, pushing the blonde away. “You’re injured, not dying.”

“But Dabi,” Keigo whines, inching closer to the fire quirk user.“M’cold.”

“And I don’t care,” Dabi adds and growls when he gets poked, again. “I swear to god, Keigo I will strap you down if you keep bitching. Let me smoke in peace.”

“M’cold.”

Dabi rolls his eyes.

“I’m never taking care of your lame ass, again,” he warns him and lets Keigo snuggle next to him. “You hear me?”

“Huh-huh.”

“Be careful next time,” Dabi murmurs, carding his fingers through Keigo’s hair. “You scared the shit out of me, back there."

“Aye, Aye, Captain.”
