Work Text:
Wade's been watching for Spidey for the last two hours, they were supposed to meet for patrol at nine, but it's eleven and Wade hasn't seen a stray web nor a hint of red and blue spandex.
Wade takes out his phone and dials Spidey's number, it rings and rings and rings and goes to voicemail.
He tries again, same result.
He knows where Spidey lives, but Spidey doesn't know that. It wasn't Wade's fault, not really, he just happened to be coming out of one of his favorite taco shops when he caught sight of Spidey, swinging from building to building. He couldn't not follow him.
Stalk him more like.
"I did not stalk him."
You totally did, but who wouldn't? No one can resist that booty in spandex.
Wade ignores the boxes and heads towards Spidey's apartment; halfway there on foot he calls Dopinder to pick him up. He doesn't tell Dopinder who he's going to see, just to drop him off and he'll call if he needs him again. He doesn't want to reveal where Spidey lives.
Hell, he doesn't even know Spidey's identity without the mask, or his name, or which apartment is actually his; it can't be that hard though, Wade's smart.
It is in-fact entirely too hard for Wade to figure out. But then he has an idea and hopes it works. He takes his phone out and begins calling Spider-Man over and over and over as he walks through the apartment complexes hallways. Finally on the fourth floor, apartment 4C he faintly hears a phone ringing - it's Spidey's ringtone for him, he's sure of it.
Wade knocks on the door, no answer. He knocks again, no answer. He dials Spidey's number again, he hears it ringing. He knocks again, "C'mon, open the door it's Wade." He almost calls out Spidey's name but doesn't want the neighbors to find out.
He tries again, knocking and then calling.
"C'mon, open the door, if you don't I'm gonna have to break in and I know you don't want that."
Break the door down.
He's right, break the door down, maybe we'll get to see that fine booty.
"Shut up." He mutters, reaching for the door knob and tries to turn it, it's locked, of course it is. "I know you're in there, I can hear your phone ringing, please let me in."
Still the door stays closed.
He hasn't picked a lock in a while, but he still knows how. He gets to work trying to get both locks opened. It takes a while, but finally they both click. Wade turns the handle slowly and pushes the door inward.
Stepping into Spidey's apartment is strange, "Spidey?" He calls out, once the door closes behind him.
He moves through the apartment cautiously.
"Spidey?" He says again, and is again met with no response.
As he walks through the tiny living room he notices Spidey's cellphone is sitting on the table, screen blinking with missed calls. The small kitchen is empty too. Wade passes the bathroom, it's also empty. The entire place is a bit of a mess - not that Wade's judging, his place has looked a thousand times worse.
There is a closed door at the end of the short hallway, he can only assume it's Spidey's bedroom. He knocks before even attempting to open the door.
He hears Spidey groan inside but nothing else. Wade closes his eyes and opens the door, "I've got my eyes closed, I'm not looking at you, you're not ready for me to know who you are under your mask and that's okay. But you didn't show up for patrol, and you're not answering your phone. I just want to make sure you're okay."
Spider-Man groans again and mumbles weakly, "Wade?"
"Yeah, yeah, it's me. You didn't show up and I was worried."
"You didn't have to come here." He says, voice quiet and strained.
"I told you, I was worried, Web's. You never miss patrol."
"I wasn't feeling good."
"You don't sound sick, you sound hurt."
The pained noise that Spidey makes hurts Wade.
"What happened?"
"It's nothing."
"Obviously not Web-head."
You've gotta look.
You might get to see the booty.
"Shut up. I'm not looking unless he wants me to."
"The boxes want you to look?"
Wade's hands come up to cover his eyes, "Doubly protected, I'm not looking, not even a peek."
"You can look, Wade, I don't care anymore."
"No, I know you're not ready."
"I am, Wade, I've been thinking about it for weeks now and never had the courage to just take my mask off in-front of you."
Before Wade can argue, Spider-Man is across the room, and pulling his hands away from his face. "Look at me, Wade."
"Spidey, I can't."
"Peter, my name's Peter."
Peter, huh? Not what I expected.
Petey with the nice booty.
"Are you sure?" Wade is oddly nervous to finally see Spidey, er Peter.
"So sure, Wade."
Wade opens his eyes cautiously, peeking from beneath his mask. The first thing he notices is that Peter is beautiful, handsome; brown hair, brown eyes, adorable really. But then Wade's focus is drawn to the bruises all over his face. The broken blood vessels in his eyes. His bottom lip is split and swollen. His hand instinctively moves to touch Peter's face. "Who did this to you?"
"It doesn't matter."
"It does matter. Don't say it doesn't. What happened?"
"I don't wanna talk about it. I'm fine. I'm sorry I missed patrol and I'm sorry I didn't answer your call."
Then Wade does something he never planned on doing, not for a long time at least. He reaches up and yanks his own mask off, "Look at me, Peter. It matters."
"Wade, you, you took your mask all the way off."
"I wanted to be able to look into your eyes, no masks. Petey, this is a big deal."
"I never thought you'd take it off."
"That's not what we're talking about now. Who hurt you? What happened? Was it a Spidey mission gone wrong? Talk to me, Webs."
"I wasn't in the suit when it happened." Peter says softly, eyes cast downward.
Wade steps closer to Peter. "Someone beat you up? Why didn't you fight back?"
"I couldn't."
"You can always fight back. I want their name."
"No, Wade, I can't fight back. You don't care who knows that you're Deadpool, I do. I don't want everyone to know that I'm Spider-Man. Before the bite I was a scrawny kid who couldn't defend himself even if I wanted to. I can't fight back or they'll know."
"But you can't just stand there and let them beat you."
"I'm fine now Wade, the bite accelerates my healing, just not by a lot. I'm sorry I didn't show up for patrol, but I'm fine. You can go."
"I'm not just leaving when you're hurt. No, no, nurse DP is here to take care of you now."
We need to find the punk who hurt his pretty face and introduce them to Bea and Arthur.
Take care of pretty Petey now and maybe we'll get to see his booty, we can take Bea and Arthur out for a spin later.
