Izuku ended up ordering the loaded fries from the nice bartender who constantly glanced back at him. The messages from the anon had given him the idea that someone would come to meet him—or he’d get jumped or something—so he’d wait an hour before he felt safe enough to skedaddle out of there.
Not ten minutes later, the man in the purple suit and weird scarf at the end of the bar meandered over and dropped into the seat across from Izuku.

Summary
Izuku sat on a refrigerator that had long since tipped to its side. It was uncomfortable in too many ways, but he’d deal with it. He’d dealt with worse–an understatement with the last week in mind. He stretched as the sun rose further. It was about five-thirty-ish if he had mentally kept track of the time right. The wind cut through the towering piles of junk, it tasted like disease and smelled like rot. He wouldn’t have to be here much longer though.
Kacchan showed up five minutes early.
Izuku watched his best friend stalk across the sandy maze of trash. The disgust etched into his scowling features mirrored how Izuku felt past his forced neutral expression.
“Kacchan!” Izuku called out, he threw an arm in the air and waved like Kacchan would get lost without it, the glare he got in return had hardly any heat to it.

Take care of yourself.Izuku automatically looked at his text. A habit he’d make sure to get out of now that his stomach did flips at what he read. Gods, Izuku was criminally bad at reading tone through text. Anger? Disappointment? Resentment? He couldn’t tell and that part bothered him the most.
He clicked on the notification to open the secure line and hesitated, his thumb hovered over the reply button with no idea how to respond. He typed, deleted, retyped, deleted, and retyped again:

He didn’t clean the house last night since he wasn’t home, didn’t go grocery shopping, and didn’t do any of the house repairs he said he would. He had almost five-ish hours left before his mom was home, so he had time. Only if he skipped school; He didn’t want to, it was his only true semblance of normalcy, but at this point, it made no sense for him to keep attending.
With a long sigh, he closed his phone and collected his things. He’d skip, and he could only hope that this wouldn’t become a habit.
He slid the fusuma door open, and the warm, humid afternoon air was tempered by the quiet hum of fans. Gods, this place is nice. His eyes roamed the beautiful wooden beams, the traditional-style craftsmanship of the hallways.

“You look like someone dumped their paperwork on you.” The neutral voice cut through the torrent of his thoughts. Eraserhead. Naomasa deflated, the tension evaporated from him as a hand on his shoulder grounded him.
“You have no idea.” The muddled words that fell out of his mouth barely even registered in his brain. He let his head drop, his chin to his chest.
“Was the meeting that bad?” Should I have come with you? went unsaid, but Naomasa was appreciative of the sentiment nonetheless. He shook his head.
